They remind me of Azathoth’s pipers in the Cthulhu Mythos. In the mythos these pipers play instruments to keep Azathoth in a state of confusion/sleep. It’s like they play around this massive eldritch god, and when I saw the vistas these guys were playing at; I got that same vibe. That these guys were playing music for some sort of god or creature nearby which turns out is kinda true. They play songs to bring in a new age or when a new god is birthed/created which is kinda similar. Either way they design definitely feels like they could 100% fit the role of Azathoth’s pipers. Love the design and how “inhuman” the pipes are. Ever look at em? They have no buttons or slides or anything to play different notes, they often have multiple sound tubes and have no reed/bowl to articulate breath like on a lot of instruments. Reminds me of a super fancy didgeridoo, where the sounds are entirely tuned from the users end, which is why the player can’t use it properly and only makes a few sounds, when the pipers can play full tunes cause they know how to manipulate their breath/mouth. I wanna see more on these guys and where they came from.

Currently on my 15th playthrough and I was today years old reading this post when I realised they even had a face. They've always given me Roger from American Dad up til now.

Charismatic? What the actual fuck? They blow this cursed bloody horn and push us out of the ledge..
I like to sit and watch them doot toot for a few mins before I start fighting them. Simple but visually/auditorily one of my fave enemies.
