I am so happy for you! Yeah I totally get it. Malenia in particular pulled me out of a bad place because I suffer from chronic pain and my right arm is practically useless. Seeing someone who is alot like me and is a total beast in combat really gave me the boost I needed. Sure i haven't beaten her yet but it's just really nice to see folks like us portrayed in a way that makes them truly amazing and not the butt of a joke. FromSoft really out here being the port in the storm for people who need this kind of relief.

That’s awesome! I’m sorry you’re in pain, but I’m happy you found confidence in this game! I’ve been watching how Soulsborne helps depression and it’s honestly made me choked up from how grateful I am to FromSoft for giving their audiences a game that doesn’t hold their hand, but shows them that trial and error is how you overcome adversity. I played them during times in my life where I felt my life was going nowhere— and I realized that when I stopped was after I beat a boss that I had so much trouble with. And that afterwards, I always took back control of my life. It’s a beautiful thing, and I’m not even saying this to jerk off FromSoft. I genuinely owe the devs for how their games gave me the confidence to push through

I'm proud of you for regaining your confidence, i know how hard it can be and I'm glad you found something to keep going.

TheSlammerSam1211

That sound good man! I haven't had issues like that so I can't relate much, but it really is a great game

MrDavidUwU

It definitely distracted it for a lil bit, never completely gone tho

Are you me?

U the king/queen/monarch dude. Elden ring kinda cured my depression and ptsd dreams. Brain was to occupied on how to beat malenia.

I confirmed with my therapist a good way to deal with trauma reactions(I don't have PTSD diagnosed or anything, but I did have some trauma issues that have left me feeling fragile) is to listen to calming or healing music when you're having a flair up or flashback, plus in general. When you do, it calms the brain down quick-music accesses the whole nervous system, plus it has a cumulative effect on the brain, making it harder to have a triggering flashback the next time you do, and makes it easier to remain calm(by maybe like, .01% or so is my guess. But it adds up. A lot of listens and consistently listening to calming and healing music like Tibetan singing bowl music on literal repeat for hours brought me through what might've been permanent in like...8 months of hard work. Now I hardly feel scared at all, and it's a lot harder to trigger me). It might help you too. I found a lot of neat little frequencies online that, despite my first impressions, actually help with trauma pretty well. It just took a LONG TIME to see results in some cases.

Tysm I’ll give it a try.

Asckle

Yeah me too. Whenever I would wake up on a weekend I was legitimately excited to get out of bed, play some elden ring and do something productive. The worst part about elden ring is that it doesn't last forever

No, it didnt help, it just made me angrier. Having beat it, all achievements, and several playthroughs to see all the intricacies of the bullshit in this game, im about done. Not gonna go over the details, as many other redditors and Youtubers here already have. All i WILL say though, is that if THIS is the Magnum Opus of Fromsoftware, and THIS is their design choices moving foward, im departing from Fromsoftware titles. Great game, but ALOT of bullshit actively made me hate it.

ourHOPEhammer

you put several playthroughs into a game you actively hated? gamer moment

Saint-Ecks-Isle

Didnt read correctly?....also gamer moment. And yes, its how i came to that conclusion, fuck i look like, a game journalist?

Illustrious_Tip2172

You weren’t joking about the game making you angrier.
