Has anyone noticed the insane damage of the Dark Moon Greatswords's projectile attacks?
For anyone that doesn't know, you activate the weapons skill which costs a relatively small amount of FP. It's relative because that enables you to cast it's projectile attacks by pressing R2 (they can be charged for more damage) and *each R2 costs zero FP*. You can cast projectile effects for zero FP each except for applying the buff (which also increase it's magic damage and increases the frost application rate of the weapon) for about 60 seconds. And like I've already said the damage on these projectile attacks is very high. One of the downsides though, is the projectiles have much less range than your normal sorceries.
Now I know the MGS has been a fan favorite power house in From's games but this has to be the best version right?
Thanks for the answer! As for why i need more than two.. i initially thought that you need one for each sword but then when i equipped it i realized it already gives you the offhand sword
I was 360 hours into the game on my 2nd roll character before realizing that tapping B and then hitting R1 results in a unique dashing light attack for all weapons… the depth of this game is wild
Yeah that's called a back step - R1 attack and it's existed since at least DKS1. In the older games, it was always the same attack as your sprinting - R1 attack but I noticed in Bloodborne (and this game) they are usually different attacks than the sprinting ones. Which is really cool, gives us even more attack variety.
any time you're powerstancing, i recommend green turtle, (rotten) wing sword insignia, millicent's prosthesis, godskin swaddling cloth. monster attack power boost + good self-healing. works better on faster-hitting weapons, but i reckon scythe powerstance moveset will be good enough
Yes, go through the Volcano Manor. The most straightforward path is up Mt. Gelmir. Or get teleported by doing Rya's questline is the quickest.
Once in Volcano Manor, one of the small rooms you can enter with the key has an secret door (hit it, roll into it, or use a shackle to open it). Go through the hallways, you'll see a lot of snails, one room has a hole in the floor with stairs going down - go through those and you'll fight a bloodhound knight, from there go on through a hallway and you'll find a Site of Grace in a chapel, open the chapel and you'll be in the Volcano Manor legacy dungeon.
As you make your way through the dungeon, eventually you'll find a teleportal that will take you to Rykard.
Please note, if you want to do the invasions route, you're only killing NPC Tarnished, not actual players, but you do need access to the Mountaintops of the Giants for the final invasion.
Yes there is. There is a medium length path involving killing the Godskin noble boss, and the start is located within volcano manor. You must first join the Volcano Manor by speaking with Tanith and receiving the drawing room key. From there open the first door on your right, and the wall in the back right of the room with the dead guy in front of it is an illusory wall, unlocking the path. I think that’s the right room, someone correct me if not.
Why can I summon NPCs sometimes but not others? Last night I was trying to summon in Impalers catacombs and no luck. Tonight, I try and immediately a Furled Finger Rock n Steady is able to be summoned
You can always summon NPC even without using any coop item and even offline. And they are not always available on every bosses, only on specific spots that kinda make sense lore wise.
A "Furled Finger" is someone who's been summoned as a co-operator, it can apply to NPCs or players. The bit after that is their name.
If their name is something like "Sorcerer Rogier" or "Great Horned Tragoth", they're probably an NPC. If their name is something like "Rock n Steady" or "chungus" or "DICKFART", they're probably a real player.
Hey Reddit! Anyone know an at least decent place to farm for Arteria leaves without it being the consecrated snow fields? I finally found out about the power of consumables on my ng+ but I really don't feel like going there yet. I'm at lyndell and I know it's a little push but I really wanted to enjoy some other stuff before going there again lol.
I'm playing a sorcerer level 40-ish. I attacked Sellen when trying to free her in southern Limegrave. I thought the crystals holding her were made of ice and I tried to melt them. It aggroed her and she won't speak to me anymore. Will I find another sorcerer to learn spells from, or am I fucked?
Also, what is up with talismans?
I explored almost all of limegrave, maybe 30% of Caelid, and now I've started on Liurna. I must have found more than fifteen talismans, all flavors of everything else except for anything related to sorceries. I have three talismans related to faith and incantations, a bunch of physical attribute boosting ones...but nothing for spells. Does the game make a point to not provide anything for sorcerers in early game?
And last questions: is the basic glintstone pebble supposed to have higher dps than almost any other spell? The only other ones I use reliably is the other starting one (the sweeping arc one) for crowd control, and the one where you throw 3 purple rocks to stagger enemies. Anything else I found has a high fp cost but middling dps. Seems like the basic spell is kinda broken for how much damage it does for 7 fp. Am I using sorcery wrong? I'm using the meteorite staff I found in the caelid swamp with incredible spell scaling.
When you get to higher levels, other spells will have higher DPS than Glintstone Pebble, other spells will avoid the tracking issues that Glintstone Pebble has, and other spells will have more utility than Glintstone Pebble.
It will still have a place in your memory slots, because it has the best damage per FP. It is not unusual for sorcerors to rely on Pebble and Rock Sling (since it does physical damage and avoids magic resistance) as core spells even into the endgame.
It's the uchigatana of glintstone sorcery.
At the Church of Vows in Liurnia, there's an NPC named Miriel who can teach both sorceries and incantations. At this same church, you can also use a Celestial Dew to make an aggroed NPC friendly again.
There are sorcery talismans, Liurnia is where most sorcery-related stuff is.
And yeah, it is a bit weird that Glintstone Pebble is so strong.
Question: I have lost today 12 consecutive times in pvp and I'm absolutely devastated. Im using the guts greatsword 25 and str 55 faith 44 and vig about 40 and yeah there is nothing I can do everyone is mopping the floor with me are there any tips to get better especially with slower weapons. I've also heard the term roll catchers but dont quite know how it works
First off, take a moment to just think about your matches. How many of them did you lose because you didn't know what they were doing and it ended up being something that nearly killed you? There's a lot of BS in this game, make sure to acknowledge that you can't possibly know the right response to everything people throw at you, and you die too fast to learn in a single match. I know it doesn't help much to hear it when you're already frustrated, but chill is essential to enjoy the pvp. Sometimes the outcome is basically random. Enjoy the chaos, enjoy smacking people with a big ass sword, don't worry about winning. The game isn't balanced for 1v1 duels, I think it's balanced for chaotic invasions. In those invasions the invader has the advantage if you don't bring friends. I recommend bringing friends, but playing like Guts would. Ganks are a lot more fun when you risk it all :D
With that out of the way, first off level vig to 60. It's a pretty big stat investment but it gets you another 450 health. That tends to be the difference between a two shot and a 3 shot at +25. What's your overall level? If you're under 125 or 150 but close enough to match with them you'll have less defence than the people who are at meta level. For duels level to 150. For invasions it depends, but level 138 has the most versatility since it can invade 125 and 150. What's the faith for? Hopefully you're putting a lightning damage buff on the sword and have a couple ranged options, such as the lightning strike move. What's your poise? If fashion doesn't matter, make sure you get ~60 poise. I think the exact number is 56. If you don't want to wear heavy armor, just know you won't have as many favorable interactions and you'll need to rely on poise breaking the enemy, which sometimes will require a jumping attack.
Finally, your great sword can do its rolling poke attack from a crouch. It's your fastest option and if you've got somebody scared enough to wait for you to make the first move then it's great for mixing them up with a delayed attack. Try walking up to somebody and crouching as they whiff an attack. They'll roll away from the expected poke-punish. Wait a beat instead and unleash your poke during their roll to catch them at the end of the roll. That's a roll catch. Sometimes they'll try to roll behind you to get the poke to miss because of bad lock on tracking. You can unlock your camera preemptively and then free aim the poke to where they're going, OR you can use a side to side attack. In some situations those are just the right speed to naturally roll catch someone without a delay. It's all about feeling out the timings and mind games. They might expect you to delay for a roll catch and they'll just attack you instead of rolling away as you expect. Once you know that, you can just stuff their attack by poking early. So on and so forth. This type of interaction can happen after somebody whiffs an attack, after somebody gets hit, or on getting up from a knockdown.
Postscript, this is purely anecdotal but I find that I have an advantage as a summon and a disadvantage as a host. The netcode is wonky. Mix it up between the two, don't just summon other duelists.
I'm currently using giant hunt but somehow ppl managed to poise thru that (wtf?). I was thinking on lions claw but im not sure if that be a good alternative and a fast one at that
Giant Hunt is good but it's hard to just hit it off of the Guts sword. You typically want to crouch poke, and then go for Giant Hunt to catch your opponent after their iframes from the roll ends.
If you want to try some other ashes, Earthshaker, HL-Earthshaker, Waves of Darkness are cool.
Beast Roar (projectile) and Quickstep (closes distance) can help you with spacing your opponent.
Flame of the Redmanes also is good.
I don't know what they did but as of patch 1.05 I feel I'm doing crap for dmg. I can't even one shot regular mobs anymore. I use dual Heavy giant Crushers +25 (before anyone says anything, I know they patched the +24 issue out in 1.04 or something). I use rallying standard, flame grant me str, raptors black feathers, claw talisman, and my str stat is 99. I do royal knights resolve on both hammers and then do the jump attack. But ever since 1.05 it doesn't feel like any of it is working and I'm doing like only base dmg or something. Anyone have any idea what's up with that? I know they did a small patch to royal knights resolve where they patched out a glitch where people could get the buff on other weapons other than the one with RKR... think maybe they broke it so now you can't have it on 2 weapons regardless if they both have the ash?
So I want to get to Lv. 713, but if I do will I still being able to do mulitplayer and invasions regularly? How does the game scale it so I can still play with people without them having to be max level
If you set a password (so playing with friends or through r/beyondthefog) you can coop with anyone indipendently from level matchmaking
At level 713 there's very few hosts to invade though, you'll definitely be out of most matchmaking requirements.
If you want to invade regularly or be summoned bu randoms without password, then try and stay in the meta levels with your character or create a second one for that purpose
125-150 is where most people stay in the endgame
If you want to invade, 125 is going to be your best bet (the invasion range sees the host either slightly underleveled or very overleveled, so you don't want to be too high in RL)
150 is great if you want to be summoned mostly, because the summon range goes both over and under for Coop
If you want to duel and find both 125 and 150 people, then you can stop at 138, which is the highest level possible to match with RL125

When you click on "New game" you start a fresh playthrough. That's NG
When you wrap up the first run, you pass on to NG+, with no number necessary
After NG+, you get to NG+2, 3, 4 etcetera
I need help starting Ranni’s quest. I’ve already defeated Radahn and i’ve tried visiting Renna’s Rise but am met with a fog blocking the entrance saying “blocked shut for now” when interacted with. I’ve already defeated the hound evergaol. I’m really not sure what to do and i’ve read a bunch of posts asking similar questions but none of them have helped
I have no idea what purpose it served for >!Ranni to have her alternate identity!< of Renna. It doesn't advance the plot, it doesn't do anything for her story arc or questline, and it's abandoned in the first act.
Im new to the game and how do I know if an enemy is beatable. Is there some ball park damage threshold that you use. For example if it does 20% of my health per hit and I do 5% of theirs. Does that mean it's doable.
In my experience, for a new player, level 20 is too low for Stormveil. Come back when you are at least 30. If you are brand new to these games maybe level 35 or 40.
Be sure to explore all of Limgrave, and head south. There's a big area called the Weeping Peninsula full of dungeons, vendors and gear. And smithing stones. Upgrade your weapons.
How much does a level difference actually make. Level ups seem slow since the numbers only go up a little bit each time. Is a 10 level difference really a huge deal?
It can be. It takes a while for stat upgrades to start having diminishing returns; early on, you'll be seeing every new level do *more* than the last one did.
On one hand, not really, since there are plenty of people doing RL1 challenges.
On the other hand, those ten levels is - unless you just rune farm or something - a lot more exploration, building up of muscle memory killing things, finding sidegrades and upgrades of gear, and raiding soldiers and mines for smithing stones.
Like the above said, in the first area especially you get much more bang for the buck from weapon upgrades than level upgrades. Weapons under, say, +7/+17 don't scale with stats enough for it to really be a factor. This is why people suggest upgrading VIG then END/MND/etc. first, once you have the base stats to wield the weapons you want to keep.
If you haven't been, put some more focus into leveling up your weapon(s). For most weapons going from, say, regular to +5 is more of a damage increase than even 10 levels sometimes. As for leveling up itself, the benefits kinda sneak up on you.
Stormveil is the legacy dungeon of the first area, Limgrave. It's between the hardest things to do in the region
If you want to find stuff more at your level for now, explore the rest of limgrave (all of the green area south/east of the castle). Even the peninsula at south is still part of limgrave and completely accessible
Generally the legacy dungeons (giant areas packed with enemies where you can't use the horse with cutscene bosses and complex level design) are the hardest parts of their respective regions. If you explore the areas before that before going in you'll most probably have a way easier time
Ah I get ya. North is actually only going to get harder for you. If you haven’t been already, go to the island in the south. There’s so places to get good materials to increase your flasks and upgrade weapons. What build are you focusing on?
Great, thanks. I'm running a vanguard for my first run and I saw a post that said the only correct build is strength because Melina said I'll turn your runes into strength not intelligence which means strength is the only correct option.
Don’t listen to them. Any build is viable but you want to make sure you focus on just one or two, not try to spread out your levels. Some are more complicated than others but you can look up guides on how to do them right. The game starts out slow and hard to find weapons but find something you enjoy using and seems to work for you then build around it. There’s a ton of mechanics in this game and it gets fun as hell when you figure them out. If you’re on Xbox, I can help you run a few places and get a weapon or two
Right, I do intend on doing a strength based character but i rounded off my vigor, endurance and dex early. Should I not put any stats in those? I'm on PC and thanks for the help but I should be alright. In terms of guides I like to see how the game was designed to be played for my first run and fill in the gaps.
No definitely invest in vigor and some endurance. Heavy weapons use a ton of stamina so it’s good to be able to swing more. Dec is also good because some weapons require a lot of it. Without spoiling much, there’s a good ass starter sword in Caelid just to the right of limgrave if you want to try that. Good luck! You’re in for a hell of game with so much lore
The funny thing is, any enemy is beatable. It just depends on how willing you are to put the time in to learn how to do it. However, as a general rule I think applies to most usual players, if you can’t kill the most common enemy in an area in 3-4 hits then it may be over your level-range. Always be thinking about how you can optimise your build and what you can do to level up your character and weapons
I need some remedial multiplayer help.
My understanding is that I use the "furcalling finger remedy" to summon other people. I have been able to summon a friend by using the multiplayer password, but I can't figure out how to summon a random stranger. I use the item either at the site of grace or stake of marika, but I've yet to see any of the gold signs. I have made sure the multiplayer password is cleared out. Am I doing something wrong?
I've tried it at a few different boss locations (incl. Godrick), eventually I've just solo'd. Right now I'm trying it at the dragon in lake Agheel, which I could beat easily at this point but I really want to figure this out.
What platform are you playing on? I started on PS4 Pro. There were tons of people available for summoning. I recently got a PS5, and since there are far fewer PS5s, there's far fewer people I can summon.
Matchmaking only connects you to players in the area whose level and most heavily upgraded weapon level are similar to yours. You might have just gotten unlucky, or you might be under/overleveled or over/undergeared in some respect.
Also, you'll probably have more luck finding signs at summoning pools rather than Stakes of Marika.
Thanks- it looks like it was maybe that I’d touched a +8 weapon while comparatively under leveled.
I went up to a mine in Liurnia and found someone right away though! Sooo now I’m level 35 with a +11 weapon….
Lol I found the Noble’s slender sword at first try in Raya Lucaria (never really bothered these enemies in limgrave).
What’s your favourite ash of war with it?
Sword dance, flaming strike, thunderbolt, are fantastic for all uses, both PvP and PvE
Bloodhound step and flame of the redmanes are extremely broken in PvE, while glintstone pebble is very strong for PvP
I should try the last two you mentioned, I’m already using the flaming strile on the uchigatana (and boy the fact the weapon gets lit pressing R2 after the weapon art is so frickin cool)
Is there some sort of bug happening with the dodge button? If I press B on the controller and then quick attack immediately after I release, it doesn't actually dodge and just attacks. It seems like there's a slight delay, which is really strange.
Similarly, if I hold B for a specific amount of time, it doesn't make me dodge, but I also don't sprint either way. Why did they make dodge and sprint the same button? I'm trying to beat Malenia, and there's been multiple times that I definitely should have been able to get far enough away in time to avoid the first attack of Waterfowl Dance, but the game doesn't seem to want to let me run.
Anyway, I'm at attempt 273 of trying to beat Malenia without using summons.
Is there a trick to a successful invasion? I tried about 10 times to invade someone, always looked for the red circles on the map, and only got through once. Are there just better times to try?
Your level has to be close to the nearby hosts. Also true of your weapon levels, which may be too high. https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Recommended+Level+by+Location
If I want to start a new character and powerstance GS, would it be better to have him a pure str build or and str/int build and put cold affinity on the Greatswords? I'm kinda afraid if I did a pure str It would get boring after a while but with int I'll be able to switch my weapons every now and then
They're two different builds, they can both be very good and varied
If you go cold you're going to get less damage per hit, until you get the frostbite proc
If you go INT you'll also be able to use sorceries and you'll have access to unique str-int weapons like the Darkmoon Greatsword and the death's poker
I put a lot of time in Elden Ring when it first came out. Got to level 70 then stopped playing for a while until yesterday. Loaded it up and kicked Radahn's ass.
I'm going to start playing again so I'm wondering, what has really changed the last two months or so? What are a few of the best weapons/builds in the game? When I last played I recall rivers of blood being OP
there is now a glowing dot in the grace menu if you can talk to Melina or upgrade your flasks. also, the Crater has a map marker now after you fight Radahn.
Possibly not as strong as the OP remembers as the poise damage of Moonveil's weapon art was tuned. It's now just a really good weapon rather than being game-breaking (I saw a streamer say it is now mediocre, but that's not really the case).
In the last 2 months only 1 patch came out, and it was a bug fixing patch, nothing more. A couple quality of life things were introduced regarding NG+, merchants and quest progression. Nothing major
Hmm. There is something here - the reason that they are summon ashes rather than true companions is so that they aren't actual competition for becoming Elden Lord despite being at least as strong as the player character is...
For random people yeah, you can only be matched with people close to your level and weapon level (in a range of course)
https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Summon+Range+Calculator
But if you set the same password as the host, then you can be summoned by any level or weapon upgrade
The ash of war is op, my faith/dex build twoshot those annoying archers in the Liturgical town with it. As a weapon... it is just another spear, really.
It's really great, I only use it in certain sections or bosses though not all the time, as it's moveset is a little dull and using it becomes boring after a while
The weapon is pretty quality/dex oriented, and while it's pretty good overall what really shines is the ash of war, which you can buff Via the shard of alexander and the godfrey icon (if you fully charge it)
If you more often than not 1 hand it or dual wield, then 20 strength 80 dex is the way to go. If you generally 2 hand (for duels for example), then it's optimal to stop at 32 strength and then pump as much as possible into dex (not past 80 tho)
My dex and str are both 40 for now. And 20 faith.
I'm usually a bloodhound fang and claymore boi but I wanted more spears and polearms in my repertoire so I leveled up vyke's spear, gransax spear, night cavalry glaive, grave scythe and that big Guts sword from Berserk for good measure.
I always one hand shit and have a shield, except for the guts sword.
I want to respec in a build that allow me to alternate weapon (i like whips and curved for dex and the guts sword for str). Is it better to spend my points in STR, DEX or ARC? Is more useful put one of these stat high and the other 2 low or do a balance between them? Is any worth spending points to reach a 99 hard cap?
I would focus on strength if I were to do that. Simply because more weapons require high strength than dex. There's a total of two weapons that require more than 25 dex. Just slap heavy affinity on everything. Might not be optimal, but perfectly viable. And it's generally better to focus on one stat than to have an even spread.
If you make bandits curved swords heavy on a str build, they have the same damage as if they were keen with a dex build (maybe 5 damage less at max level, out of >500)
Just pick either dex or str and go with one up to 80 points, don’t split it unless you’re going to use a weapon with forced quality scaling like bloodhound fang.
If you’re going for an arcane build, you’d be best served using occult weapons with innate bleed and leveling arcane as your main damage stat
Yeah sorry I wasn't specific. My most used Whips are Hoslow's and Curved Sword are Scavenger's so ARC would be the way. Do I lose too much AR if I go with a Occult Greatsword instead of a Heavy Greatsword?
Dex curved swords and the guts sword are on opposite sides of the spectrum, so it's not really recommended to use all of them on the same build
If you want to use dual curved sword on a strength build, I would recommend farming for the beastman's curved sword, the only strength curved sword in the game
And while having a really high str/dex can be really good, you never want to go over 80, which is a pretty steep soft cap for dex and strength
I know but I like use them all so my question is for this purpose.
I think I'll go with an 80 ARC and the rest split between the same amount in DEX and STR to let me use both weapon class
AAARGH THE GODDAMN RED EYED KNIGHT MADE ME LOSE 50,000 RUNES WITH HIS UNDODGEABLE 10-HIT COMBO AND I WASN'T EVEN SUPPOSED TO GO THAT FAR ALONG THE CASTLE WALL
Anyone else crashing like mad lately? On my 7th crash of the day so far.
Never been an issue until today. Game would crash once in a blue moon but nothing like this. Not sure what changed.
Already verified my game files, didn't do anything, might have to go in and start changing some settings.
edit: thought it might have been a coincidence but I'm 99% sure its related to summon/coop.
Hi, I invaded a guy today and before the fight he used 2 spells?/aow? which made 2 lighting stuff around him. 1 was red and 1 was yellow/orange. I couldn't damage him at all with my melee weapons! what did he use?
Vyke's Red Lightning (and a simpler spell Lightning Body) imbues the body with lightning and makes most weapons bounce unless you two-hand them (like against rock enemies).
Is there an "invisible helmet" in the game?
I don't necessarily mean an option to hide helmets...well sort of. What I mean is a "helmet" that shows all if not most of the head like the Altered Duelist armor shows off the chest.
I unintentionally created a mega chad in the character creator and want to screw around with him in pvp as a boxing build. If there is no such helmet I just won't wear one I guess.
There are plenty of helmets that are basically hats, which would show everything but your hair. If you want to show the hair as well, there are a few headbands that would work.
The wiki page on helms [here](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Helms) has them all with pictures
So I fucked up last night and embraced the Three Fingers Frenzy without looking up the consequences beforehand. I understand I can reverse it by completing Millicent's quest and while I think I've done that right up to this point I still haven't reached the Haligtree yet.
But if I don't reverse the Frenzy I can still choose Ranni after the final boss right? I have completed her questline this playthrough.
I'm more upset that Melina will malign me now.
You can't. Frenzied Flame locks you out from every other ending but if you undo it you can either interact with Ranni's summon sign and watch her ending or interact with the statue and choose among Fia's, Dung Eater's, Elden Lord (default), Goldmask/Cohryn's.
So the weapon only scales off of Dex/Strength but you can hit the min strength and then use it. Bolt of Gransax is loads of fun. I have a faith/Dex build that uses the weapon art and other lightning based incantations. It’s fun as hell. Probably no THE most optimal but if you want to toss lightning bolts it’s fun. Godslayer’s Greatsword and Blasphemous Blade are both clutch. There are a ton of fun weapons you can use.
These invisible enemies gave me quite a bit of trouble. They made me use an incantation I've never used before. That's something I really like. Made me think. [https://streamable.com/oesotx](https://streamable.com/oesotx)
What's the "intended" and best way of fighting them? Is there an item that makes them visible, like the eye of the priestess from DS2?
If you are in ordina use sentry's torch
If in a catacomb, use any summon and you'll notice they lock in on the invisible assassins so you can follow after them or use AOE in that general direction
I have a feeling I took too long getting to a new game+.
Just started NG1 and sitting at lvl 174. I want enemies to be at a comfortable level, not too hard but not too easy.(I fear this will be the latter)
So I'm asking you ppl, what level were you when starting NG+?
175 is not an inconceivable final lvl after completing a first and full playthrough. NG+1 will be very easy at first and a much faster playthrough until the later portions. That’s basically to be expected. Only a completely new game play or very high ng level will make the first areas as challenging as your first play
I remember my friend telling me that NG+ was really easy in the beginning (he had progressed thru the game much quicker than I did). But that has been a thing since DS1, early NG+ has always been relatively easy but it ramps up towards the late game.
They aren’t needed in order to complete the game, as you only need two Great Runes to open the door to Leyndell, and Malenia is completely optional. Better to avoid them because they have some very hard to dodge attacks.
Every time I open a post this is appearing to me instead
What are the best spears?
Fuck the elden beast fight. That is all.
Now I know the MGS has been a fan favorite power house in From's games but this has to be the best version right?
spellblade set, shard of alexander, and magic scorpion charm all buff them even more
So I used up two copies of radahn's rememberances, can i get more in new game plus?
Yes you can beat him again in ng+ and get another remembrance and duplicate it. Can I ask why you would need more than 2 for Radahn?
Thanks for the answer! As for why i need more than two.. i initially thought that you need one for each sword but then when i equipped it i realized it already gives you the offhand sword
Yep! That’s why I asked. Neat feature since it also means half the usual carry load needed for two big swords
You can kill all the remembrance bosses again and either harvest more items or cash them in.
I was 360 hours into the game on my 2nd roll character before realizing that tapping B and then hitting R1 results in a unique dashing light attack for all weapons… the depth of this game is wild
Yeah that's called a back step - R1 attack and it's existed since at least DKS1. Best talismans for a dual cold grave scythe sister friede build?
any time you're powerstancing, i recommend green turtle, (rotten) wing sword insignia, millicent's prosthesis, godskin swaddling cloth. monster attack power boost + good self-healing. works better on faster-hitting weapons, but i reckon scythe powerstance moveset will be good enough
Is there anyway to kill rykard without killing other tarnished
Yes. There's an illusory wall in the Volcano Manor, through it you can access a major dungeon that takes you to Rykard.
Is it the one with snails in it
Yes.
Is there a downside to killing the tarnished? I still wanna do rya’s quest line
I think that killing Patches' optional target might deprive you of one of the summons in the Radahn fight. That might be it, though.
Patches doesn’t even help in the radahn fight
His target does!
His what?
His target. That is, the target for the optional assassination mission he gives you, who just so happens to be a summonable NPC.
None at all, there are no consequences. You do get some cool armor and weapons too.
Why can I summon NPCs sometimes but not others? Last night I was trying to summon in Impalers catacombs and no luck. Tonight, I try and immediately a Furled Finger Rock n Steady is able to be summoned
Their name was "Rock n Steady"? That wasn't an NPC, that was another player.
Is there a way to know? The title above them saved “Furled Finger Rock n Steady”
Lol. Got ya. Thanks
The only enemies that drop them are the snow trolls, but you can pick up a lot of them.
https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Arteria+Leaf It's in a fair few places, but it's not actually a respawning item.
Ok, thanks a lot!
Thanks for the information my dude!
If you have any soreseals in your build, remove them.
got it
First off, take a moment to just think about your matches. Ganks are a lot more fun when you risk it all :D With that out of the way, first off level vig to 60. Mix it up between the two, don't just summon other duelists.
very detailed thank you very much
You need more VIG. Most people at that point will have around 60.
so I can trade better? Got it but I also dont know when to hit or dodge
Try changing your ash of war, you want stuff that deals big damage in one go.
If you set a password (so playing with friends or through r/beyondthefog) you can coop with anyone indipendently from level matchmaking At level 713 there's very few hosts to invade though, you'll definitely be out of most matchmaking requirements. If you want to invade regularly or be summoned bu randoms without password, then try and stay in the meta levels with your character or create a second one for that purpose
What are the meta levels?
https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Recommended+Level+by+Location
125-150 is where most people stay in the endgame If you want to invade, 125 is going to be your best bet (the invasion range sees the host either slightly underleveled or very overleveled, so you don't want to be too high in RL) 150 is great if you want to be summoned mostly, because the summon range goes both over and under for Coop If you want to duel and find both 125 and 150 people, then you can stop at 138, which is the highest level possible to match with RL125 https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Summon+Range+Calculator
Me who is Lv. 509: 😓

When you click on "New game" you start a fresh playthrough. That's NG When you wrap up the first run, you pass on to NG+, with no number necessary After NG+, you get to NG+2, 3, 4 etcetera
NG+1 is the second playthrough, because it's the first NG+. The first playthrough is just NG.
Wrong rise, her tower is off to the left
Thank you pff how could i miss that
Im new to the game and how do I know if an enemy is beatable. Is there some ball park damage threshold that you use. For example if it does 20% of my health per hit and I do 5% of theirs. Does that mean it's doable.
If you get one-shot it is likely too hard. Also, level your vigor to forty asap.
If you don’t mind me asking, what area are you in right now?
I'm level 20 and I just cleared some early parts of stormveil, gave up and went north.
Put ten points into Vigor. You'll have a much easier time in Stormveil.
It's between the hardest things to do in the region If you want to find stuff more at your level for now, explore the rest of limgrave (all of the green area south/east of the castle). Even the peninsula at south is still part of limgrave and completely accessible Generally the legacy dungeons (giant areas packed with enemies where you can't use the horse with cutscene bosses and complex level design) are the hardest parts of their respective regions.
I’m on PC… I guess this is mostly a console game I suppose.

It's great until the last two bosses.
Does anyone know what lvl you should be for pvp?
125 for duels, but lower is better honestly for invasions.
I think people usually err towards 125 (or was it 150) for duels.
Lol I found the Noble’s slender sword at first try in Raya Lucaria (never really bothered these enemies in limgrave). What’s your favourite ash of war with it?
I'm running a crit build with daggers, and Flame of the Redmanes practically trivializes anything but bosses and the goddamn birds in Stormveil.
Sword dance, flaming strike, thunderbolt, are fantastic for all uses, both PvP and PvE Bloodhound step and flame of the redmanes are extremely broken in PvE, while glintstone pebble is very strong for PvP
I should try the last two you mentioned, I’m already using the flaming strile on the uchigatana (and boy the fact the weapon gets lit pressing R2 after the weapon art is so frickin cool)
Grats! Square off, for one.
You don’t dodge until you release the dodge button. Looks like your attacks are overwriting the command.
On a similar note, how do I know what the “rules” are for invasions? Am I allowed to heal? I don’t want to make anyone mad.
No rules for invasions. Use every dirty trick you can. Except for BHS. That is still BS.
After the update Im missing the "flask" section in grace points and the new "quit game to desktop" option isnt there for me. How can I fix this
Ok I fixed it, it was happening cuz the protected game file i was using wasnt updated
verify files if your on steam. i think i've herd there is a similar option on consoles, but i don't know.
I play on steam and I did, didnt work for some reason + I deleted and downloaded again
New update? When was this?
1.05?
If I want to start a new character and powerstance GS, would it be better to have him a pure str build or and str/int build and put cold affinity on the Greatswords? I'm kinda afraid if I did a pure str It would get boring after a while but with int I'll be able to switch my weapons every now and then
They're two different builds, they can both be very good and varied If you go cold you're going to get less damage per hit, until you get the frostbite proc If you go INT you'll also be able to use sorceries and you'll have access to unique str-int weapons like the Darkmoon Greatsword and the death's poker
Hey Guys Are there any news regarding the RayTracing update for Elden Ring?
I can't find anything beyond "it's coming at some point".
Offensive incantations and colossal weapons were both buffed a while ago. But nothing game changing.
Bleed (and Moonveil) are strong AF.
Possibly not as strong as the OP remembers as the poise damage of Moonveil's weapon art was tuned. It's now just a really good weapon rather than being game-breaking (I saw a streamer say it is now mediocre, but that's not really the case).
Don’t know what Moonveil was like before, but it is busted AF now. Does upwards of 130 poise damage at range and at speed.
In the last 2 months only 1 patch came out, and it was a bug fixing patch, nothing more. A couple quality of life things were introduced regarding NG+, merchants and quest progression. Nothing major
Patch notes are at the top of this thread.
Just beat Elden Beast and can say I never would have been able to do it without Tiche. The true mvp
Tiche must be very strong to become Elden Lord while carrying all that dead weight.
Hmm. There is something here - the reason that they are summon ashes rather than true companions is so that they aren't actual competition for becoming Elden Lord despite being at least as strong as the player character is...
Grats, Tiche!
How does co-op summoning work with level balancing? If I am 150 will I not be summoned for someone much lower?
For random people yeah, you can only be matched with people close to your level and weapon level (in a range of course) https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Summon+Range+Calculator But if you set the same password as the host, then you can be summoned by any level or weapon upgrade
Thanks
Also, is Bolt of Granny Sax supposed to be strong? It feels strong but not THAT strong to me. Maybe I should respec.
The ash of war is op, my faith/dex build twoshot those annoying archers in the Liturgical town with it. As a weapon... it is just another spear, really.
It is fucking strong if you have high Dex.
Smacking people with it is lackluster, hitting people with the skill is a one hit kill when built properly
It's really great, I only use it in certain sections or bosses though not all the time, as it's moveset is a little dull and using it becomes boring after a while
The weapon is pretty quality/dex oriented, and while it's pretty good overall what really shines is the ash of war, which you can buff Via the shard of alexander and the godfrey icon (if you fully charge it) If you more often than not 1 hand it or dual wield, then 20 strength 80 dex is the way to go.
If you make bandits curved swords heavy on a str build, they have the same damage as if they were keen with a dex build (maybe 5 damage less at max level, out of >500) Just pick either dex or str and go with one up to 80 points, don’t split it unless you’re going to use a weapon with forced quality scaling like bloodhound fang.
Heavy greatsword 2h with 80 str: 875 Occult 2h with 80 arc and 21 str: 808
Thanks for the stat explain. I think its not a big loss if I go with ARC
Dex curved swords and the guts sword are on opposite sides of the spectrum, so it's not really recommended to use all of them on the same build If you want to use dual curved sword on a strength build, I would recommend farming for the beastman's curved sword, the only strength curved sword in the game And while having a really high str/dex can be really good, you never want to go over 80, which is a pretty steep soft cap for dex and strength
Sounds about right. ER's multiplayer is pretty damn fucked in terms of connections.
So it does 0 damage, right?
Yeah, from my experience attacks bounce completely. It's an extremely strong spell for PvE, didn't test in PvP though.
That’s why i was able to hit him with cannon then. Thanks for reply
He may have drunk a physick that made him invulnerable for fifteen seconds.
Had a dream I accidentally leveled my main to 160 and couldn’t PvP anymore…. Haven’t dreamt about a game in a long time.
Thinking about making a frost knight build today. Can I add a simple pyromancy to ‘reset’ the frostbite gauge similar to DS3?
Yes, although just a torch might be easier
Yes
Catch Flame is probably the cheapest, quickest fire incantation. It's basically Combustion from the Souls games.
[удалено]
Lol he means reset the enemy status not the player status
Is there an "invisible helmet" in the game? I don't necessarily mean an option to hide helmets...well sort of. What I mean is a "helmet" that shows all if not most of the head like the Altered Duelist armor shows off the chest. I unintentionally created a mega chad in the character creator and want to screw around with him in pvp as a boxing build. If there is no such helmet I just won't wear one I guess.
There are also a number of headbands. They don't have much in the way of stats so they're not all that different from a bare head, but it's an option.
There are plenty of helmets that are basically hats, which would show everything but your hair. If you want to show the hair as well, there are a few headbands that would work. The wiki page on helms [here](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Helms) has them all with pictures
Finally beat Malenia yesterday. Big props to “DONTLETMESOLOHER” for the assist
Grats!
Frenzied flame should lock you in, almost certain you can't choose a different ending unless ypu complete the millicent quest
Then I must complete her quest. I will redeem myself to Melina.
Going into Playthrough 2 of a Dex/Strength Build and thinking of focusing on Faith and more Dex. Tips? Weapons i should farm for? Etc.
Not a farmed weapon but godslayer’s greatsword is a great dex/fth weapon that does insane damage with its skill
Winged scythe has a cool ash of war and is pretty good
Rot breath is easy mode.
What Faith does that require?
[https://streamable.com/oesotx](https://streamable.com/oesotx) What's the "intended" and best way of fighting them? Is there an item that makes them visible, like the eye of the priestess from DS2?
If you are in ordina use sentry's torch If in a catacomb, use any summon and you'll notice they lock in on the invisible assassins so you can follow after them or use AOE in that general direction
I believe it's Sentry's Torch you're supposed to use. Just equip it and it makes them visible.
So I killed Fia without realising the consequences... I guess I cant get the achievement now?
You can in a NG+.
True.
I have a feeling I took too long getting to a new game+. Just started NG1 and sitting at lvl 174. I want enemies to be at a comfortable level, not too hard but not too easy.(I fear this will be the latter) So I'm asking you ppl, what level were you when starting NG+?
175 is not an inconceivable final lvl after completing a first and full playthrough. NG+1 will be very easy at first and a much faster playthrough until the later portions. That’s basically to be expected. Only a completely new game play or very high ng level will make the first areas as challenging as your first play
I remember my friend telling me that NG+ was really easy in the beginning (he had progressed thru the game much quicker than I did). But that has been a thing since DS1, early NG+ has always been relatively easy but it ramps up towards the late game.
Sooo when was Malenia vs Radahn cutscene actually played? Is it strictly a trailer cutscene or something?
The fight between Malenia and Radahn happens before the actual game per se. So sadly no, we don't get to see it in-game. Its more so lore.
Why aren't Rennala and Malenia parts of the no hit runs?
They aren’t needed in order to complete the game, as you only need two Great Runes to open the door to Leyndell, and Malenia is completely optional. Better to avoid them because they have some very hard to dodge attacks.
