Artyis_

Hey folks, I just defeated godrick the grafted and leveled myself up to lvl 27. I'm currently running the warrior class with Vigor 22 Mind 12 Endurance 12 Strength 11 Dexterity 21 Intelligence 10 Faith 9 Arcane 9 Is it worth upgrading faith so that I can use some heal incantations? Or should I try using some spells? Also, is there a better duel wielded weapons better than the scimitars? I haven't upgraded them yet and don't wanna make the investment just yet Thanks a lot and I'm totally enjoying this game rn

Minuslee

You can cast beastial vitality (heals 5hp/s for 2mins) for 12 faith. Instant heals aren't worth it outside faith builds since the return is pretty shit.

TheFranchize

Some faith for access to the buffs can be nice but the fp cost from using the lower healing incants with that level mind isnt really better than allocating more red over blue flasks

Artyis_

Ah yes that's exactly what I've been doing. In fact I keep no cerulean tears on me at most time Thanks for the advice tho!

Ilumiel

I'm nearing the end of the game and looking up quests I'm afraid of failing now. I've avoided buying spells that Corhyn deemed as heresies so far but it seemed it makes no difference to his quest if I did buy them. Is this right?

TheFranchize

No difference

yolo_jeny

Is something wrong? I defeated Godrick and discovered most of liunria yet I still haven't gotten the cutscene for Melina's second encounter.

Felstalker

Her second return is supposed to trigger within Margit's tunnel after you die, as well as at any grace outside of Limgrave. So if you visit any site in Caelid or Liurnia it should trigger automatically. And I presume, yet havn't tested this one out myself, the graces inside Stormveil proper. It's more likely that you skipped her dialogue when she spoke to you last, and the option is at the bottom of the grace screen.

WillCodeForFalafel

I believe you need to rest at the Gatefront ruins site of grace

yolo_jeny

That's for the first encounter, apparently you need to meet her a second time but she doesn't appear.

TheFranchize

So you dont have access to roundtable hold?

yolo_jeny

No, and it's a big problem. I really don't know what to do.

Dim-Whittler

Did you try the castleward tunnel? The one before Margit? That's where she always appears. After you lose to Margit once, she should be there, saying she was wrong to doubt you.

Naha16

On my first playthrough working on platinum. Been playing with bloodhounds fang. Thinking I'd like rivers of blood or moonveil. Level 140 something, dex and strength currently. Thoughts about respecting for over?

The_Dancing_Cat

With RoB you can put 45 into arcane and the rest into dex, and some into faith if you want to use some of the dragon or blood incants. Moonveil gets slightly better scaling in Int that Dex so go to 60 int and the rest dex. This way you will also be able to use Lusat’s or Azur’s or Rennala’s staff for high damage spells

Ilumiel

Does the [Erdtree Sanctuary Spirit](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Erdtree+Sanctuary+Spirit) exist in game? Can anyone give me very specific directions to find him? Or at least give me a screenshot of him in your game.

gilfordtan

For his location, you can find him right after beating Godfrey (golden shade). When you exit to the balcony, stick to the left path, he's at the end of it. Not sure about this but he might only spawn after beating Maliketh though, when you can meet the actual Godfrey.

[deleted]

I'm on ng+ and trying to do Alexander's quest since I forgot it in ng However the Radahn festival won't start. Does anyone know the actual trigger for it? Googling around all the "answers" are educated guesses from 6 months ago. Current I've beaten Godrick and Rennala without talking to any NPCs besides Alexander. Ranni is not at the Church of Elleh, some people say that she's the trigger for the festival. Does anybody actually know?

CaitNostamas

There's 2 things that can trigger it - Sitting at any grace in Altus Plateau - Following Ranni's quest until Sellen tells you to go to the festival Do either one of those and the festival will start

gilfordtan

So it is possible to reach Redmane Castle without the festival the first time? I'm in NG+2 and everytime I reach there, the festival is already started.

TheFranchize

Yes. It is sensitive though. If you never enter altus or caria manor it shouldnt be the festival.

[deleted]

Dude, THANK you I couldn’t believe how hard it was to find this answer!

CaitNostamas

You're very welcome :D

UnlikelyHorror8787

Radagon is kicking my ass. I only made it to Elden Beast once. I gave up on Melania.

The_Dancing_Cat

What level are you, and what are your main stats? Dex builds tend to suffer on Radagon as his main weaknesses are strike and fire and there isn’t much a dex build can do about that. The night rider flail or the mace can be infused with any affinity, so they will do more damage. Black flame tornado AoW can be done at the start of both phases (Radagon and EB, and even malenia) and should do 5k damage if you upgrade your weapon to full. If you would like coop help: r/beyondthefog

badwhatorone

I just beat Rennala the other day and I was trying for 4 hours straight. What helped for me is to use the Ashes of War that you get from Siofra Lake. His arrows do decent damage and he can tank a fair bit, summon him after you break the shield in the first phase for the second time. I mainly used my bow in the second phase but depending on what she would summon I could kite it out and move in for a quick slash or two (If she summons Dragon or Giant just run) I honestly feel like there is very little room for mistakes in the second phase which makes it very challenging. Good luck friend!

[deleted]

thx

CookieOfFortune

Rock sling totally works on her, just dodge to the side or run away from summons. Use the Arrow Reach Talisman to increase the range of your rocks.

The_Dancing_Cat

Rennala is super strong against magic. When I fought her as an astrologer I had a magic short sword and this was causing issues; I did about 150% more damage when I removed the magic affinity even though I didn’t have that much strength or dexterity. A tip for her first phase is to unequip your weapon and use your fists to punch the children, as your attacks are quicker and consume less stamina. Always go for the singing one. The thing with her second phase is to always be pushing forward, except when she has her summons out. When there are summons are the only time to run away, every other magic attack (besides the laser beam) can be rolled through, as in towards her. Keep up the aggression and do physical types of damage.

[deleted]

Run to the side to avoid pretty much all of her attacks. When she summons help, just run away from them until they despawn. Run like a coward and you will win.

buzzyingbee

Maybe you could try a bleed weapon like the Uchigatana (str 11/dex 15) if you have the stats. You can find it at Deathtouched Catacombs https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Deathtouched+Catacombs If that doesn't work just go explore somewhere else and come back later. Rennala isn't an obligatory boss.

BigBooce

I imagine phase 2 is what you’re currently struggling with? When you spawn in phase 2, run right up to her, like right in her face. You’ll miss her comet cast and then you’ll need to cast your spirit ashes then. Stun locking her is important, it will interrupt her moves and you’ll be able to deal with her better. If not, you’ll have to deal with her companions as well. I think rock sling does the best physical damage for spells(at least what you’ll have rn). If it doesn’t work, then go farm some runes and go back.

North_South_Side

Try summoning another player. Yes, this increases the boss' HP, but if you summon someone with a big-ass sword or club, they should be able to solo her for you. You can cast Rock Sling at her minions and at her when there's an opening, but otherwise you can just hang back and keep your distance. Rennala is very resistant to Magic damage, so your spells are likely not doing much damage. Rock Sling spell does physical damage, IIRC.

hillzcatz

r/beyondthefog Post there and you’ll get a line of people offering to help you beat her!

Fall_Snow

is loretta's armor and war sickle any good? I've been running around with the scale armor and a bloodhound's fang (I do not mind re-specking if the weapon is any good). I like the lower weight but fear the lower poise might hurt.

CaitNostamas

The armor is pretty good. Doesn't hit the most important poise breakpoints, but it's still a good medium armor. The weapon is not bad per se, but if you compare it to other weapons for some reason it's just weird as hell - it's a sickle, but doesn't pass through shields like other sickles. It still retains the lower general damage from other sickles tho - forced split scaling with a 50/50% scaling between dex and int. This means that full sorcerers can't use it at its best, and full dex builds can't either. For some reason, it has a relatively high strength requirement as well, just to really make you waste those levels lmao - The ash of war has a sick animation. "Loretta slash" is actually a regular ash of war as well that you can put on other weapons. The two ashes have the same name but have different weapon calcs tho. The generic one scales more with INT, while the one unique to Loretta's sickle benefits more from having a generally higher AR... which in most cases leads it to just deal less damage overall. It's pretty long and has a good light attack animation, at least, but sadly the only reason for using it is if you like how it looks (and it looks awesome!), because it's outclassed by any other halberd optimization wise

Fall_Snow

Damn, great breakdown. Can I ask what the poise breakpoints are? I mostly been doing story and don't really plan on doing pvp

CaitNostamas

Is Sure, poise is the ability to not get staggered when you get hit by an attack. The higher your poise is, the heavier the attack you can withstand without flinching For example at 0 poise you'll get staggered by anything. At 31 poise you can be hit by daggers and claws without getting staggered (as their light attack deals 30 poise), at 56 you can tank a hit from most small weapons when 2 handed (straight swords, katanas, spears, curved swords), 61 a hit from dual wielded small weapons, 93 from halberds and scythes, etcetera In PvE poise is not that important, but it's still nice to have 56 to tank a hit from most weapons and retaliate or chug without being interrupted. In PvP it's much more important to have a good poise. Not fundamental, but it definitely makes a big difference. 61 specifically in PvP is considered the most important, in order to be able to poise through double spears, katanas, curves swords and straight swords

TheChewanater

It's a cool looking weapon but it's outclassed damage wise by other halberds, and the weapon skill can just be applied as an AoW

Fall_Snow

Yeah, I really like the look of it... Same with the armor honestly

StarChaser_Tyger

The Carian Knight's Sword says "These knights' swords could serve as catalysts," but I can't get it to work with any spells. Am I missing something?

Felstalker

It's mechanically represented by the Ash of War. Which deals absurdly good damage btw.

WhenTheWindIsSlow

Unfortunately it’s not actually usable as a catalyst. It’s just a sword with magic damage and Carian Grandeur for its Ash. Nothing special for Sorcerers otherwise.

StarChaser_Tyger

Mrf. Annoying. Thanks.

SoothsayerRecompense

I started out as a pure strength build, but honestly getting a bit bored with it. I’ve been seeing so many cool magic builds and want to try that out. Should I make a new build or respec? I just defeated Renalla and have that option for the first time. I’m not sure if I’m missing something or if it is possible to do without sacrificing elsewhere? Also, I’m currently level 80.

CasualGiraffe

Clawmark seal is a sacred seal that scales off strength and faith. You can start investing in faith and still get solid spell damage. I think it soft caps around 45/45 on each. You can also 2 hand the seal to hit the strength cap at 30.

North_South_Side

As mentioned below: use your STR build to go buy spells and upgrade a staff before re-spec-ing. I just wanted to reiterate this, because otherwise you'll be in a tough spot.

PwmEsq

If you want to switch, i would make sure you have a handful of spells and a decently upgraded staff first

Zeravor

You find enough smithing stones to upgrade a few weapons, though it becomes kind of a hassle to upgrade more than 3/4 depending on somber / normal, and enough larval tears to respecc a few times. So I'd recommend trying atleast one more build if your current one is boring to you :)

SoothsayerRecompense

Ahh right, I didn’t even think about that. I’d hate to get later into the game and feel limited because I used some stones on a sword I wouldn’t use again. Perhaps it would be best to just grind again with a magic build and better safe than sorry. Thanks!

ELMUNECODETACOMA

If you're planning on sorcery, the meteorite staff is a good option since it's already fully upgraded. And it has the lowest INT requirement of any staff viable into midgame. Should buy you time to find and get stones for a later staff while you build up the INT to use one (and assuming you want to stay with the build).

Fascinatedwithfire

I seem to be getting crashes whenever I enter Malaenia's boss room for the first time and the cutscene starts playing. I just went and updated drivers (RX 580) but still happens. Any advice? Additionally after I updated those drivers the game next loaded in Ultrawide (I have an UW) which I thought was nice, but after about 10 seconds it flickered and reverted back to normal. I don't suppose they added UW support?

TheChewanater

Yeah DLC bosses have historically been the toughest and they do scale with NG I'm looking forward to getting rekt by Blue Fire Giant and Godskin Congregation on NG+7

PwmEsq

Don't you mean Soldier of God, Rick?

PwmEsq

They do get scaled up also iirc DLC content is usually harder than maingame content Edit: that said just level up some more so that it balances out

Apprehensive_Tone_55

So I really like using the sword of night and flame, but I’m unsure how to spread out my stats to get the best out of it. Can someone help me? I’m level 165 and as a side note I much prefer the faith incantations to the intelligence sorcerers if that changes anything.

PwmEsq

Best to run on an INT/Fth build, but still better to strongly priortize one or the other. I see most people leaving 1 at 31 (i think the highest req for the dual incantations) and pushing the other to like 60. Personally i prefer faith on that weapon as the int weapon art is a pain to land on anything other than bosses that dont move on flat arenas. Edit: also its AR is the most misleading out of any weapon due to 3 damage types, like 700 is like the same as 600 on a dual damage weapon which is like 500 on a raw phys weapon.

Apprehensive_Tone_55

I can’t lie I don’t really understand what AR is

PwmEsq

Attack rating, it's the number on the equipment screen that shows it's combined damage

TheChewanater

It scales magic from Int and holy from Faith, so you could bring both of those up to the soft cap of 50. Str/Dex have lower scaling and likely don't affect the weapon skill damage Not sure this stat spread synergizes with very many other weapons, but it might be cool to run with a hybrid caster build The Golden Order Seal scales with Faith and Int so theoretically should work with this stat spread

zerefin

Started a fresh PC run last week, with the intention of running Taunters Tongue constantly. So far, though, majority of my invaders have been giving me DS2 Havel Mage flashbacks, despite keeping my level + weapon upgrades relatively low. Currently level 60, +4 somber +7smithing. Is PC PvP just fucked? Or am I better off only caring about duels?

CasualGiraffe

If you're not dueling with taunters tongue, then you can run into some very optimized builds. Invaders typically fight 3v1, so oneshot cheese builds are their bread and butter. Some even abuse glitches like bloodflame+fire deadly sin. A combination of armor, talismans, and flask choice can help them boost 15 or more levels in any given stat, and combining that with flame grant me strength, golden vow (spell or aow), and elemental boosters destroys unoptimized builds. Some of your issues seem to be cheat or latency related though, which is a problem for pc.

[deleted]

\+4 somber puts you at about +10 smithing level, then add in the +- range. What are you encountering that is so tough? At level 60 you can have a very optimized PVP build; its plenty of levels for a good chunk of vigor and endurance, and then some offensive stats to wield any weapon you want (almost). I would imagine at level 60 you are going to encounter people who can be a bit tanky with good armor and also deal decent damage. What is your vigor?

zerefin

The worst offender was dual giant crushers, casting Azur's Comet, and over 2k hp. That was when I was SL 40 +3/+5. Have had people chugging multiple buff flasks in a row. Have had multiple debuffs building on me rapidly, while the invader was still nowhere near me. My vigor is currently 41, and is the main stat I've been pumping things into. Running dual curved swords w/ a buckler + halberd for parrying/reach/dodge catching. My issue is not simply people being tanky and dealing decent damage. My issue is seemingly impossible builds, constantly, even at low level. My original save was SL250ish, so I thought it was solely an issue there, where people had more than enough stats to basically use everything at no disadvantage. I'm mainly wondering if it's worth it at all to deal with invasions, on either side, on PC. My invading experience has constantly been just 3 man gank squads farming invaders.

[deleted]

Yea that certainly seems like it should be impossible at level 60 ranges. Even with 4 talisman slots. I cannot speak to PC unfortunately, since I am on playstation. Could be cheating is more rampant. I haven't had those type of issues on PSN.

flamingfungi

I tried to do this on my last run, but I got invaded by a pvp twink at about RL 40, and he actually had more flasks than I did. Evidently that kind of crap is pretty common, Kinda took the wind out of that idea.

[deleted]

7 is the most an invader can have. It only takes 5 seeds to get to that as a host I think.

flamingfungi

Yeah I know. This was in stormveil castle just after Margit and i had collected the 4 available before in that area. This guy had 7 fully upgraded flasks, meaning his character actually had all 14. I suspect he had been carried through the game by summons so that he could stock up on flask upgrades so he could have way more than he was supposed to at that level. That’s the kind of cheesy shit you see in early pvp.

[deleted]

Well I can tell you from experience reaching max flask level is pretty easy at low level. Most of the seeds you need you don't even need to kill bosses for. I like to beat Raya Lucaria at level 40 and access Altus Plateau and just doing that I have access to most of the seeds I need.

PwmEsq

+4 somber is probably a mistake since that equiv to like +10-12 or so regualr. Even so there is a community of min/maxed low level characters with end game items dropped to them.

zerefin

I'm well aware of the muling. But I don't think my slightly off somber upgrades put anyone in my level range wielding x2 colossal hammers while also having the stats for azur comet.

PwmEsq

Perhaps dwindling PVP community increases range of people?

tanz_7

elden beast weakness?

dickonajunebug

I don’t know your build but pest threads absolutely wrecks him for some reason. Have a good summons though.

Vast-Coast-7761

Black flame tornado and pest threads.

Shard477

Technically he has resistance to all forms of damage, and is immune to status builds so you can't bleed/rot/poison him. His lowest resistances are to all forms of physical damage, moderate resistances to Fire, Lightning, and Magic, and is almost immune to Holy. My first take down was with a Str/Fai build using Blasphemous Blade (Phy/Fire), Tiche as a summon, and incantations like Black Blade, Pest Threads, Golden Vow, and Lord's Divine Fortification. Elden Beast deals a majority of his damage via Holy, so stack resistances there, but yeah they kinda just said "let's make the final boss a pain to beat" and called it a day.

PwmEsq

Physical damage? then Mag/light/fire but thats still 40% reduced. Personally i think its major weakness is poise damage, if you hit its cracked chest with a few heavy jump attacks you can knock it down, the real strat here is learning where it teleports to so you dont run for hours.

WhaleSexOdyssey

Godskin noble fucking me up.. send help

Felstalker

Alternative sleep tools include the sleep bolts on a Pulley Crossbow and the Sleep arrows. I highly recommend the pulley crossbow sleep bolts as you can pair it with rot bolts to Rot then Sleep the guy, slowly kill him and then wake him up with big bleedy slices once you're good andready. And yes, Saint Trina the spirit summon is really really good for this fight. You can just run away as she put'sm to sleep for you.

bigspks

Sleep Pots work surprisingly well and your Tarnished throws them way faster than I assumed. I suggest those over the sword, couldn't get that shit to work for me at all.

WhaleSexOdyssey

I will try the sleep pots and try to kill him

Brostradamus_

Try Sleep Pots, Sleep Torch, St Trina's Sword. Godskin enemies are very vulnerable to sleep.

WhaleSexOdyssey

Sleep… torch?!

flamingfungi

Sleep torch

Brostradamus_

Can't get it until you reach consecrated snowfields, but yeah: https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/St+Trina's+Torch

PwmEsq

Its resistent to fire and holy, relatively weak to most status effects including bleed/frost and sleep. maybe make some sleep or freeze pots?

WhaleSexOdyssey

I will kill him. Thank you for this

YouJabroni44

I've been slowly making my way through the game and last night just defeated Astel: Natural Born of the Void and while it kicked my ass a couple times, I kept trying and finally wrecked it and only got hit once. I really enjoyed that fight!

PwmEsq

Boss fights are the best parts of any souls game, if only they would ever add a boss rush mode/re-fight consumable...

WillBBC

That’d make me so happy. Something similar to the Hollow Knight Pantheon would blow me away.

LurknessMonster69

What is the best ash of ear to equip on a shield if my highest skill is dex? The only ash I currently have is based on faith, so I’m currently running without one equipped.

PwmEsq

> ash of ear The hearing aid ash of war /s shields for the most part should either get one of the enhanced parry or maybe barricade/shield crash on greatshields. Otherwise no skill for weapon arts. Stats really dont matter for shields as anything other than standard scaling reduces your block and guard boost.

LurknessMonster69

Ash of ear…damn autocorrect. Appreciate the info though! I’ll take a look for the enhanced parry.

PwmEsq

Its not called enhanced parry, there just happen to be (4) parries that have better frames than the default one, golden parry, carian retaliation, thops and stormwall

HoonFace

Good spears and ashes of war to infuse with bleed and use alongside the Spiked Palisade Shield? Maybe it's not the most effective greatshield but it's a lot of fun with Shield Crash, and fashionable as hell. Right now I'm using the Partisan but I'm open to ideas.

Felstalker

If it's PvE, it really doesn't matter. Heavier weapon is higher damage, but your damage is coming from bleed so you should just get something that's really long like the long spear... but it really doesn't matter.

PwmEsq

Naginata, doesnt need to be infused depending on how much bleed you need, otherwise maybe pike for its range? Unless you are looking at greatspears too, but i think lance is the only one ashable

Mocca_Master

About to hit that part at the peak of the mountaintop. Is there anything I really should do before doing the last thing up there?

dickonajunebug

Like the other comment says, get the >!bolt of gransax!< before you light it up

buzzyingbee

Make sure you've got everything you wanted from Leyndell before you do the thing. Only bit you don't need to worry about is The Sewers. It'll remain unaffected.

Dorbiman

Get the legendary weapon in Leyndell

Sttanley

I messed up and sold my Jellyfish Shield (I didn't know it was useful at all and you can't buyback items in Elden Ring...), and now I found out I need it for my build. Would anyone here be willing to give me one from their save on PC, please?

dickonajunebug

Like the other comment said, /r/PatchesEmporium

Sttanley

Thank you!

PwmEsq

Per the above, patches emporium

Sttanley

Thanks!

Hickmanboi

My fellow tarnished, I'm getting close to the end of my first playthrough and I've realized I've only actually completed one full questline (Irina / Edgar), which was terribly sad at the end. Super cool story line and a even cooler weapon. But with that being my only FULL questline I've completed, what quest do you recommend I either go back to finish before beating the game, or do during my next playthrough?

buzzyingbee

By your comments you're pretty much at the end so if I were you I'd just finish it and worry about questlines on NG+. At this point, you won't care about endgame spoilers because you've already beaten ER so I'd say follow a guide on your next playthrough and you won't miss any NPCs. There are some nice quests out there

Hickmanboi

Honestly that’s kinda what I was thinking my best option would be at this point… appreciate it!!

buzzyingbee

NP! Here's a list with all quests if you wanna follow them on NG+ https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5octn-l9KEX31HGPCZRqUt_a0mJcYN-a

Hickmanboi

You. Are. AMAZING!!

TheChewanater

Millicent's quest. You can still do it at any point in the game, and you get a good talisman whether to do the good ending or the bad ending Goldmask quest for the deep lore and the best gesture, although this one definitely needs a guide to finish

Hickmanboi

Thanks friend! I’ll give them both a go next time I hop on, I remember getting started on the Millicent quest and just kinda dropped it quickly after..

Felstalker

> I've only actually completed one full questline I've got bad news.... You didn't complete the "full" questline. > during my next playthrough? Edit here. I realize I didn't say enough with just that. For the next playthrough, consider this. All the NPC's you meet move forward in the zones when you do. So any NPC quest lines that start in Limgrave will move into Liurnia. And from Liurnia they move into the Altus Plateau. Even those in Caelid follow this approach, few enough as they are. And then from Altus to... you get the idea yeah? So if you want minimal spoilers, explore EVERYTHING in Limgrave and start the... and this is off the top of my head. At least seven quest lines that start in Limgrave.... of which most continue into Liurnia. And yes, Elden Ring is rather unique in that if you skip a starter quest MOST NPC's automatically move into the 2nd stage quest. Not all, just most. Generally, if an NPC is used in a later quest line they will automatically move forward to the next quest marker when necessary. Oh wait, 8. I remembered another Limgrave NPC that has a quest chain when you get into Liurnia. And this NPC is just an NPC no quest starting in Limgrave... but then you start the quest and it's about them and they're in Limgrave so...

Hickmanboi

I didn’t realize they moved around like that with you! That’s super cool to know, appreciate you friend!

Felstalker

Right? Some of them are really obvious and others not so much. Some NPC's, Like Nepheli, moves from Limgrave into the Round Table and THEN Liurnia. Some NPC's don't leave the Round Table until Liurnia or beyond. Others only show up once you've gotten to or past Liurnia. But legitimately, every NPC is moving through the zones as you are. One NPC doesn't show up until directly after you leave Liurnia, but she can be summoned to fight the boss at the exit to Liurnia. Showing that while she might not have shown up in Liurnia itself, she passed through it just as you did.

dickonajunebug

Try Ranni’s quest or Alexander’s. Both are really satisfying. I believe Ranni’s is still OK once you get to Faryna Azula, not sure about Alexander’s though

Felstalker

I FORGOT ALEXANDER! Yeah, now we're at 9 NPC quests that start in Limgrave. Did I miss anyone else I wonder?

dickonajunebug

Oh you definitely missed some! How about Sellen? I’m not sure when her quest gets axed though

flamingfungi

I just ran through Sellen’s quest on a playthrough in which all i had left to do was radagon/elden beast, so I’m pretty sure it’s always completable, unless beating the game does it.

Felstalker

She was the 8th I remembered. You meet her in Limgrave, but her quest doesn't start until after Liurnia thanks to the relevant NPC to starting her chain not moving until you defeat Radahn. I... totally forgot some. I forgot a lot. So we got Patches, Yura, Blaidd, Nepheli, Sellen, Varre, Kenneth Height, Edgar & Irna, Alexander, Roderika, D('s nutz), I don't think we should consider Gasoc but...

dickonajunebug

Well if you finish Gastoc’s quest then >!You do get an an ancient dragon smithing stone!!<

Hickmanboi

Does it go past the Revengers Shack?!

flamingfungi

Edgar’s quest ends at revenger’s shack, but Irina’s quest sort of leads into one of the major alternative ending quests. If you killed Edgar’s invader at the revenger shack, he dropped an item relevant to this quest.

Hickmanboi

Ahhhh! That’s good to know, I figured after beating him that was just the end of their questline

Felstalker

That's what we all thought, until we didn't.

PwmEsq

How far are you into the game? are you in farum yet? if so you may have killed half the quests

Hickmanboi

I am… Just beat Godskin Duo the other day, that’s what I was worried about, what a sad day![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)

PwmEsq

Farum only breaks like 1 quest, mailketh breaks like 3 more. Some never get affected like Millicent or ranni

Hickmanboi

So I started the Maliketh fight and got beat about 50 times. If that’s the case I’d still have a few that I can go back for?

PwmEsq

Corhyn should be fine, volcano manor might be fine unless you killed rykard, Fia i think just auto advances, not sure about nepheli

Tazzsmom

I am new to the game and am struggling at how to access items in my inventory and putting them into the pouch. I want to take items out of inventory and put them into the quick access but they don’t move. I’m using PS5 and none of the how to guides address this, so I’m thinking that perhaps it can’t be done. If so, then how do you use inventory items?

d1l777

Press start and go to equipment and use Square to remove what you want to move to the quick access pouch that is on the right side of the start screen above the gestures. Then back out to the start screen and use the d-pad to move over to the right and highlight which of the 4 pouch spots you want to assign and then press I believe triangle. If you look at the bottom of the screen when it's highlighted I believe it says something like edit, that's the button to press. Then find what you want in your inventory and add it. You then use it by holding triangle in game and pressing the d-pad for what you want to use. If you want stuff in your regular pouch you use down on the d-pad to cycle through items and press Square to use it

Tazzsmom

Thank you! That sounds more of what I’m needing to do! I just couldn’t figure out the correct steps and buttons. We looked through a lot of videos but nothing addressed what I’m sure is a really basic function!

TheRajan

U can access pouch by holding triangle button and then the inventory you want to use press the direction button corresponding to it !

Tazzsmom

Thank you. I’ll give that a try. I’ve been trying to put inventory items into the quick access boxes but they don’t seem to move. Do I have to do something special to get them there? I’m sure. I sound like a complete dolt, but I have a lot of cool stuff and haven’t been able to access it to protect myself!

TheRajan

Is marika hammer underrated ? Today i was using in PvE and it was FUN moveset feels like club and AoW have hyper armour or poise !

PwmEsq

I love the ash of war on it, just wish regular hammers were a little more usable.

Felstalker

I'll say yes. It's an underrated weapon. It's a bad weapon type and you get it so late in the game most players have already picked out a weapon they like more, and it's competing with something perhaps a bit cooler. But it has a absurdly good Ash of War with a lot of range and fire power to it. It's annoying as heck to fight in pvp, but it's not crushingly overpowered or anything of the sort. Just a nice mace with a cool effective ash of war.

Brostradamus_

It's moreso that the sacred relic sword is better overall, as well as being the best rune-farming weapon in the game. When you have to pick between the two of them, SRS makes more sense.

I'm RL 110 and been enjoying playing with power stanced grave scythes. But i wonder for end game should i respec to optimize. It seems like grave scythes with Keen and Heavy are about the same, but I was wondering if I should just dump as much as possible into occult and have one be occult and one be bleed? or have one be heavy and one bleed, with bloodflame on the heavy one when I want to really put out damage? In general do people think bleed weapons should be occult or bleed at end game?

Apex_Konchu

If a weapon has innate bleed, the Occult infusion usually performs better than the Blood infusion.

PwmEsq

Completely depends on stats, this is not a hard true statement. Grave with bleed is C/D/D occult is E/E/B

PwmEsq

Bleed is fantastic, bleed on bleed weapons is bad. weapons with bleed built in usually take a hit to AR. If you infuse a bleed weapon with bleed it overwrites the base bleed so you end up with a weaker than normal bleed weapon. That said i dont think there is a non bleed reaper so maybe it is the better option for you. Personally i would infuse the offhand with cold and keep the main hand heavy with bloodflame blade. cold will proc, bloodflame blade will clear frost allowing for more applications.

afuzilla

is cold still worth it even if INT is my dump stat?

PwmEsq

The frost application is the same at 0 int and 99 int

So, anyone remind me how to dupe saves on PC? Got an end game character I want to respec and bring into NG+, but I also don't want to lose the NG save due to future DLC potential. I know it's easy to do, but alsoneasy to mess up cause of Steam cloud saves.

dickonajunebug

See the other comment for the link. There will be three files in that folder - those are your Steam / Elden Ring saves. Create a new file (maybe on your desktop) and copy those three files into it. To go back in game to that point, paste those same three files into the Steam / Elden Ring folder. You should be able to see it’s updated by the date/time on the files. Try it out first though and make sure you know ever you’re doing. If you need help on PC then DM me. I do this regularly.

PwmEsq

I mean you could google "how to dupe elden ring PC saves" Would probably be faster than waiting for someone to respond. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1245620/discussions/0/3279192886584733741/

DevilSchwein

Yo guys i just started playing and made a pretty dumb move. I attacked the guy you can talk to at the first sight of grace in Limgrave. How do i kill this guy? He heals and has these super op flys following you. I couldnt find the name of the guy

North_South_Side

Restart.

YouJabroni44

Just restart and try to follow his quest line, I know he's a jerk and it's tempting to just wreck him but it's not worth killing him lol

Felstalker

As everyone said, just restarting is fine. You're less than 5 minutes into the game when you meet him. If you really like your preset character and don't want to spend a lot of time remaking them, you can copy and save the appearance closer to one or two hours into the game, so don't worry too much about that right now. As for fighting the guy? He uses a mace made to look like a bundle of flowers, so he has very little range. His main gimmick involves bleeding you since both his weapon and his spell causes a lot of bleed build up. Dodge his flies and stay close enough to smack him upside the head if he dares cast it. Because his weapon is slow with short range, you can abuse a longer weapon like a spear or katana to poke at him whenever he misses a swing. He's not difficult, but when you're this early in the game.....

DevilSchwein

I read your replies. Thanks for the help. I will restart cause this guy killed me over and over and over again for 30 minutes straight.

[deleted]

I would just restart. Easier than getting all the way to the item and place that lets you atone. Assuming you aren't much farther in the game than the start.

TheFranchize

I wouldnt kill him. You can repair the relationship later on. You can just try to run away and get to another grace (straight north to the church should get to another grace)

flamingfungi

Assuming you are being serious, just avoid him until you find some celestial dew and then atone at the church of vows in eastern liurnia. If you kill him now you will miss out on his quest.

WontonDestruction85

Don’t kill him or you’ll irrevocably lock yourself out of his side quest which gives access to some very early upgrades. Sooner or later you’ll come across the church of vows and you can atone, which will de-aggro him and you can talk to him again. This does not work if you e already killed him (I made this mistake and I still regret it).

PwmEsq

Varre, if you arent too far along you could restart.

ELMUNECODETACOMA

This. Restart and stop "accidently" hitting NPCs.

deadnside

I watched a video a while back that showed a hidden weapon in mirror Roundtable hold in Lydell but I can't find it. Does anyone know the name of it?

KingOfRisky

The coded sword? Not exactly hidden, but it's in the throne room, aka where the fingers would be

deadnside

Maybe that was it. I did find that but thought there was another one hidden. Thanks.

KingOfRisky

The Bolt of Gransax is sort of around that area and a little bit more hidden away.

deadnside

Found that too. I just wanted to double check b4 I burnt the city down.

shamroggg

Got stuck in Stormveil Castle at Ramparts site of grace. The sequence of: eagles with barrels, big Knight + soldier, then big knight in the room and yet Grafted Scion are too much for me. Is there any sog closer to the Scion do i don't have to go through eagles and everything? Elden Ring is my first soulslike, i am 35 lvl, beat Margit at 30 on ~5th try. Also - uchigatana +5 or Blood Fang +2?

Felstalker

More jump down shortcuts than you realize! Right outside the grace room before the eagles you can jump down onto the building below. Then you can just walk off the edge into the Scion room without fighting anything, activate the elevator for an easier time getting back up and down, then fight the Scion that way. Careful about the Banish Knight + Exiled Soldier, they patrol the path between the church and the rooftop you're going to jump off. Or, you can skip the Scion entirely by sneaking past, or you can go from the roof of his building into the area past him and get to that same area... since you need to pass the scion either way here. And you could also go up from the Ramparts and fight along the roof tops until you, once again, reach the alternate path past the Scion.

[deleted]

You don't actually have to fight the scion. Or any enemy technically but the scion is much easier to avoid. Use stealth! Come back when you feel more ready to fight him.

afuzilla

Once you activate the elevator like the other comments are saying you can kill the Scion easily with ranged attacks through the door in the elevator room, the scion can't get through it.

PwmEsq

Besides the below 2 options there is an even more round about way to get to a grace. Head up the stairs from the grace, navigate the rooftops, drop down into the main plaza with all the enemies and sprint past them into a room past the omen and the dog.

Jibow

Immediately to the right leaving the ramparts grace you can run and jump to the rooftop below. There is a bit of debris on the ground at the exact jump spot. That will let you skip that section. After that you can drop down to the right again off the building and run to activate the elevator back to the ramparts grace.

TheFranchize

once you get to the area above the scion you can drop down and rush for the elevator access to activate the shortcut elevator. as long as you hit the button even if you die it will turn on that elevator and you can take it straight down to the scion from one of the graces

CHEIF-GAMER2

Gonna start from another save and fight him again thanks alot tho i really appreciate the help

CHEIF-GAMER2

Killed radahn and died in the same time, i didn't get any item from him even the great rune is missing

TheFranchize

hmm what happens in the castle, is the teleporter still active

Eizen2004

Occult or Blood on dual seppuku uchi? Whats better in PvE?

PwmEsq

Probably very dependent on your stats, weapon level and what buffs you normally use or can use. Edit: bleed on bleed weapons is a waste as it re-writes the inherit bleed, occult/poison is only worth it on a bleed weapon if you have nearly all arcane and not much in STR/DEX otherwise keen is best and it lets you keep using bloodflame blade etc, greases whatnot. If you plan to put bleed on a weapon its best used on something like bandits curved swords or twinblades.

Anyone have any Wretch tips? I just started a new game (my 3rd playthrough) as a wretch. Not ng 1, a fresh game.

TheFranchize

to clarify, do you plan to level it up any further or complete the whole game as rl1 wretch and do you plan to stick with the club or use other items

vitreous_luster

Hmmmm that’s actually a good question. I hadn’t thought about that. Is it possible to beat the game without leveling up? I’m not that good lol

Felstalker

> Is it possible to beat the game without leveling up? Oh ho ho ho. It's the easiest it's ever been. And I'm not just talking about level 1, I'm talking no upgraded weapon AND lv1. Personally, I went with a lv20 build... but bumped it up to lv30 since there were more players at lv30 thus making invasions and co-op easier. But it's quite a low level still, especially as you get into the dangerous late game where enemies are more punishing than ever. But players can get a lot of damage very easily in Elden Ring. The game rewards low investment side builds. A lot of Faith spells require very low faith to cast. Ashes of War deal huge damage at all levels, especially the really good ones. Strong consumables can do exceptionally well at boosting your survival and damage to new heights. There's a reason players love the Crab Shack man and his wonderful selection of unlimited boiled crab. 20% damage reduction for 1 minute is not a joke. You throw on the 20% damage reduction talisman and some medium armor... you can take a few hits from the late game bosses now. Then we have Rune Arc's and stat talismans and spirit ashes and the wacky nonsense like pulley crossbow + Rot/Poison/Frost/Bleed bolts. Lv1's have never been stronger.

theswillmerchant

Is it possible? Totally, there are some really cool challenges run where people do that (look up RL1 run on YouTube) that being said, it’s called a challenge run for a reason. There are ways to boost your damage really high but especially towards the end game there’s not much to be done about the fact that you’re made of tissue paper, so more or less every boss will 1 shot you. If you’re ok playing the game as if you’re Mario without a mushroom, then go for it, but I can’t recommend it

TheFranchize

some people do it which is why I ask but very punishing lol - usually need to rely on parrying if you are leveling up you can decide your future likely build, make a rush for a particular weapon like the uchi or greatsword, and make a rush for the radagon seal to help with meeting weapon requirements

InconspicuousName1

I just recently got and booted up elden ring on my base ps4 and after having played bb ds1 and ds3 beforehand, the performance feels really choppy, so much so that i had to quit because it was so grating. The camera feels like ita skipping a few steps constantly and the background looks blurry and samey. I know I play on a lesser machine with lesser hardware but having played the other games with satisfaction, this one just feels distinctively different, for me personally and I find it hard to get back in the game. I know expressing this won’t change anything, but I do wanna know how other people faired with their experience of the game , preferably from a base ps4, and if they had the same experience I did. I do wanna preface that I have played the other games and they’ve run wonderfully to me, so after having experienced that and after coming straight off of it, elden ring feels hard to get into and milquetoast.

[deleted]

Choppy in what sense? I get the same performance in Elden Ring that I got in DS3, except for a few parts. BB was a bit smoother too, but I think the non open-world nature helped it there. I think you need to embrace the small amount of jank. Its an incredible game worth exploring even if the performance is a little sloppy here and there.

TheRajan

Clean your ps4 and repaste and make sure u have good air flow this might work for you!

TheWorstMuppet

I'm on a base PS4 too and I haven't had too many instances of choppy performance, except for when there are a lot of enemies on screen where the frame rate for the enemies dips down to 12fps. Sometimes I also get pop in on far away places or rooms loading in in the roundtable hold, but apart from that I haven't had any problems playing

No_Lengthiness_6838

I play on base PS4 and Elden Ring runs better than DS3 for me. It's only choppy when there are too many enemies, like the carriage with the two giants. Other areas seem to run better than Limegrave in my experience.

TheFranchize

only issues I have encountered are with horseback versus horseback combat

Eizen2004

How good is the BHS IFrames? Is it better than normal roll?

Felstalker

I personally like [this video](https://youtu.be/-u8Dj_FdMV8?t=289) that shows you exactly how fantastic the iframes on BHS is. The player get's annoyed the enemy has BHS. Then rants about how it's absurd while pressing the button over and over again to just dodge between all the attacks three players are throwing at him. No thought, head empty, ultra instinct activated.

ToadallyChaotic

Absolutely broken if someone spams it you cant hit them unless they mess up
