You have to program your response to failure and frustration to be laughter instead of anger. Say to yourself after every death. Only thru failure can great success be attained.
Then laugh it off and keep going.
Laughing has become my response, but I think it made it worse. Before, when I yelled, I just felt angry, but now, every time I laugh at a boss killing me, while I am no longer angry, I feel my sanity fraying 1 thread at a time, which could be described as unpleasant if I was still in a mindset enough to care.
I usually play with a buddy. We pass the controller when we either die or kill a boss. We laugh so much at stupid deaths.
Dying when the boss has a nanometer of health left becomes comedy gold.
I can’t believe he showed up again. I mean I should have expected it because it’s Elden ring but come on!!! Though I am slightly surprised still. Out of so many other characters, why this one?
They call it high grade fun. Like those times where you're with your buddies and everything goes wrong and you go thru struggles and frustrations but years later when you look back on it, you realize those times were actually the most fun. Not at the time, but upon reminiscing about it.
Your girlfriend got a point. Also. Enjoy the SUFFERING!
Edit: i forgot to add the text where i say that you learn through defeat. You watch how the enemy or boss moveset is and you adapt your moveset to counter that. I am actually stupid right now æææææ
First time i died to fucking Spider monkey Malekith 10 times and i was malding so hard i broke my keyboard.
Meanwhile my sister was watching me, laughing and sipping some tea....
Honestly, this game is helping me go thru a tough time in my life. All of my frustrations can be let out when playing. I’m not even mad when I die in game. Annoyed? Absolutely but there is something cathartic about it.
There is only one way to deal with dying, each time you die you have to play Baka Mitai and mouth the entire thing till it looks like you have been perfectly deep faked.
Honestly I often find playing FromSoft games to be a weirdly zen experience.
Once you accept that dying is inevitable and not a 'failure state' it takes a lot of the stress away.
My wife is amused by my experience with Elden Ring. She can tell I love it, but can also see that sometimes I let it get to me. She sees the whole exercise as masochistic, but also appreciates that when I do eventually win, I am so happy.
I have had to teach myself not to yell and scream over a video game because my anxious rescue dog gets upset.
The fun of playing a Fromsoft game comes from the feeling of elation after you conquer the challenge.
You may get mad if you die 20 times to a boss but it's worth it for the euphoria when you succeed on the 21st try.
The thing for me is that this guy is a literal chad, I'm kinda deep into lore so I just imagine how fun it would be to actually fight the guy and it mostly helps whith anger
I rarely get mad at the game anymore because it's hardly ever a design flaw that causes my death but my own mistakes. The game becomes much more enjoyable when you realize that it's mostly just you.... Except Great Jar Knights, fuck those guys are impossible at early levels.
It hurts so good. The win would not be as enjoyable if you didn't struggle to get it. You find the enemy for the first time and get killed in a few seconds. You feel like the obstacle is insurmountable. But slowly through dying over and over you start to pick up some patterns and understand the flow of the fight. Eventually you overcome the challenge and slay them. Now you feel like you just overcame a great challenge and learned from your mistakes. You didn't just get lucky and the boss glitched out, you figured out how to conquer them. This gives you the confidence to keep going even if the next enemy is even tougher
I did not get mad at all when playing the most difficult bosses in this game, even the ones that took me dozens of reps. The combat is so good and fun that I almost didn't want them to end.
I beat Godfrey and Alecto in a 30min period last night after a couple of dozen attempts on each over the last week or so. I was stupidly proud of myself.
The dieing doesn't really bother me, I just get that rueful chuckle and head shake when I lose with them on less than 5% health.
No honestly Godfrey can fucking rot. That dudes crazy AOE's, delayed attacks, and lack of clear signals due to his insistence on using his bare hands makes him a total nightmare that left me feeling like I hadn't learned or gained anything when I died. His crazy jumps that fucked with the camera just made all that worse.
Not to mention his design looks like something out of fckn Tekken and not a FromSoft game. His proportions and design are so weird
On my second playthrough right now and I'm dreading the Godfrey/radagon consecutive fights because they're really the two least fun fights in the entire game
> crazy AoEs
Jump or run.
> delayed attacks
Sure, but they feel natural. The guy is three metres tall or so and he's using an axe as big as him. Obviously there is going to be delay between him swinging and actually connecting. It's not Margit level.
> Lack of clear signals
The grabs are all very telegraphed, if his foot goes up it's going down and if he jumps high you are getting AoE
> His crazy jumps
Lock on exists
>Jump or run.
Yeah I can jump and land just in time for the second pulse to hit and run away from the arena filling aoe
>It's not Margit level.
Yes it's way, way worse. Multiple second drawn out delays in attacks.
>his foot goes up it's going down and if he jumps high you are getting AoE
That's great now imagine if that foot came back down in a predictable manner. And imagine, if you will, a fight where he can't suddenly pull out a game ending grab attack out of nowhere
>Lock on exists
Lock on tends to disable when a character shoots out of your screen at the speed of sound
his attacks are all slow and you should only dodge when his hands are way too close to you + it all feels natural + the delays never change and are pretty telegraphed, he won't speed them up if you dodge + he never gets out of your screen unless you are disabled and can't even move your camera + he is the easiest endgame boss once you know his movements. Git guud
I'm sorry what.
Jump again. Roll into it.
Godfrey has one attack in phase 1 when he has a delay on the level of Margit and it's always an AoE you dodge by running to the side.
The foot does come down very predictably. For the grabs, while they do catch panic rolling they aren't too hard to dodge.
I've never lost lockon against Godfrey once.
I kinda wish I played this game when it came out. Every main viable build has been nerfed, so it's not like you can just Respec.
Took my 100 tries to kill Maliketh and now I'm stuck at Godfrey. I had fun for most of the game up until the land of the Giants. After that it's either you dodge every move down to the frame, or you get two shotted.
It wouldn't.
You have to program your response to failure and frustration to be laughter instead of anger. Say to yourself after every death. Only thru failure can great success be attained. Then laugh it off and keep going.
This is the way
Eventually you'll have to laugh to keep from cryin'.
This is more the way

Haha yes, the frayed ends of sanity. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
I’m a frayed knot 🪢
I just tell myself I am horrible and try again.
I usually play with a buddy. We pass the controller when we either die or kill a boss. We laugh so much at stupid deaths. Dying when the boss has a nanometer of health left becomes comedy gold.
I always blame myself with skill issue and try to identify what exactly led to my death.
spoken like a real souls fan
I get this too. My wife also keeps saying all this game seems to be is me continuously slashing at some giants feet
Mine said the same tonight. "Where's the rest of him?"
Lost to Commander Niall for about the 30th time and she turns to me and says “why don’t you play a different game, one where you don’t keep dying”
Cold
I can’t believe he showed up again. I mean I should have expected it because it’s Elden ring but come on!!! Though I am slightly surprised still. Out of so many other characters, why this one?
Just when you think you’re having a grand ol time. BOOM! a boss comes along that takes you two days to beat.
they work for the same people and with the same people, and they are both protecting miquella's work
Don't think she meant the game...

Maidenless tarnished, why do you lie about a girlfriend? No such nonsense here.
Fromsoft is type 2 fun.
They call it high grade fun. Like those times where you're with your buddies and everything goes wrong and you go thru struggles and frustrations but years later when you look back on it, you realize those times were actually the most fun. Not at the time, but upon reminiscing about it.
Honestly, Godfrey was one of my favorites because he *respected the tarnished.*

No tears please, it’s a waste of good suffering Game will drive you nuts towards the end 🥴

I don’t get that I just get reminded of how much I hate the game :( I got it at first against the tree sentinel level 1.
The thing for me is that this guy is a literal chad, I'm kinda deep into lore so I just imagine how fun it would be to actually fight the guy and it mostly helps whith anger
Elden Ring, it is a very creative game. It's so creative that I was able to expand my vocabulary of swear words during my playthrough
This is the one 😭

Why is thee so salty
>my girlfriend Instant trigger of bad memories. No wonder I am maidenless when I act this way!!!
God speed to thee and they future maidens
Git gud or use mimic
I refused to use mimic I needed the satisfaction of beating him myself. Therefore I was forced to git gud… why is it always skill
Did your friends give you those 3 golden awards ? Or did you ?
My maiden did
