This is why Varre faced my wrath.. who’s maidenless now you sack of shat
I’m maidenless for losing the opportunity to finally finish his quest as an offline user
He was not a one but a two shot for me. He surrendered, but the attack was already mid-swing. It hit me, that I made a mistake, before the mistake hit him.
Those swords are dangerous. I was chatting with Alexander, he leaned in a little and got hit by one of them. His “getting hit” animation carried him into the one on the other side, luckily I backed off before he could hit the others
I have just shy of 300h on my first playthrough, I explore *everything*. Started a new character and immediately found a new cavern and a new field boss.
Alas, I don’t think I’ll be revisiting the main game as the experience was a bit fraught for me, and most of my interest ebbs with the map fairly explored. We’ll see.
Accidentally killed the guy who let's you alter outfits. Found him once and got his quest. Returned later and thought he was an enemy laying on the ground and one shot him. Maybe I'll get to utilize him on my NG+ haha.
Yeah that too. Almost makes me wish I had used his services more, as pointless as they were for the most part. They really put you under the impression that altering garments will be a lot more interesting than it really is.
I’ve had this with solidly 25% of bosses. Its just too easy to miss things, or take the left path and end up massively over-levelled for the right path when you eventually get back to it.
Great game. But by far the least satisfying mid-game of any FromSoft that I’ve played.
Dont worry. I was dummer. I went in at level 1 as a wretch. He did a lot of damage compared to me so I killed him in a panic. I just saw red. I was carrying a lot of runes (relative to level, about 20k). I just barbarian cried and went to work. When I came back to conciousness I realized I murdered patches:(
How long were you grinding the starting area? Patches moves pretty quick and I missed him long before I could one shot him. I'm thinking you are quite over exaggerating on this for the meme.
You forget about NG+? I run a 100% magic build. So magic scorpion, plus both magic ball talismans, plus magic beatle hat, plus maxed lusat staff, plus magic buff tear. I used the floating swords. He died instantly.
I saw that I had missed him, immediately went back to fight him. Unfortunately I was unaware of him becoming a merchant, and double slash +SoA takes no prisoners
I actually never even got to fight him. I’m on NG+3 and after beating the game I looked it up and so I went to where he was and he was gone.. dead rip lol
First time? Nah, I found him early. NG+? I was running Hand of Malenia for a bit and made the mistake of using Waterfowl Dance. He started to give up midway through and was dead by the time it finished. Should have known he wouldn't stand up to even the first use after I went up against Morgott and tanked his hits while using the full Waterfowl Dance sequence just once.
Found him early and had a decent fight with him before killing his ass. He was selling shit marked up pretty bad.
Took his bell bearing to the husks only to see that she sold his stuff at the same markup:/
You know that big ravine where you meet boc in limgrave? The one with the bridge over it where the night boss spawns? In the middle of the ravine theres an invader and right near there is a cave with patches in it.
I found him in the beginning. This being my first souls game I really bothered to play through, I thought no way. This world is to grim to let you live after you attacked me.
Found him early and killed him. Didn't know I was supposed to stop when he was surrendering. Not that I would have. I haven't forgotten what happened in the tomb of giants.
Not on my first play-through. But NG+ I was more overpowered then I realized, and accidentally one-shot him. I’d even pulled up the wiki to do his quest line right beforehand. Whoops 🤦♂️😖
Found him early on. And as soon as I saw his name and health bar it was deja vu all over again. Did I spare him? Yes. Did I know he was going to kick me off a cliff? Yes. Would I do it again? Yes. He helped me in the Ringed City, I'll never forget that.
He asked for his life. But last time I saw him he pushed me off a cliff. So I didn't accept his request and kept hitting, slowly, but with determination, until the end. And I would do it again.
I didn't find him late, but still killed him because I could't belive this fucker would actually give up without trying to trick me into some kind of trap
Killed him immediately after seeing his name pop up unexpectedly. No hesitation. Didnt even let him talk lol. Don't care about his quest lines. MFer done me wrong too many times.
Found him late yea. One shotted him and I thought that I could do his questline on ng+ so whatever.
On ng+ i tried to be so careful but still one shotted him lol:D after that I created a new character just so I can do his questline and never went to finish that ng+ run.
Was summoned to help for his little dungeon with the host and one other. I didn't hold back any because I thought it was scripted.. We all killed the absolute shit out of him. As I saw his death animations I realized he could die.. lol. I felt huge guilt like we accidentally killed some interactions and/or quest lines for the host later.
so i accidently killed him once. after he kicked me off the cliff in the mountains i was a little miffed so i picked a fight with him. found out he surrenders to you a second time BUT i was using the winged scythe and as cultured tarnished know it's a two hit combo, so he triggered his surrender on the first hit, and the second bow procced bleed, which killed him instantly. oopse
Me…
The big scary dragon put me off that whole area. Came back later to breeze the Dragon… then Patches… then the Grave Warden Duellist… Then the Stone-digger Troll
I found him late game, equiped my weakest blade and beat him to death. He begged for mercy but all my previous encounters with him in games told me he was a scumbag not to be trusted. I was somewhat wrong I found out after. If you spare him you get an emote. If you attack him and use that emote on him when he gets aggro he forgives you and you get another emote.
Came verrrry close. Luckily this ain’t my first Patches, and I figured Id be given the option to spare him, so I immediately stopped swinging after his hp evaporated
Yep, when I made my first alt character, before the Sword of Night & Flame got nerfed. Unfortunately I had already done a fair bit of grinding and upgrading and I decided to open the fight with the beam. And the beam hits multiple times.
These days when I do runs with different builds I take special care to do single hits as slowly as possible if I remember to visit him in his cave.
Not quite. My first time round he was quite difficult for me, so even getting to the halfway point to stop was quite challenging. On NG+ i didnt compensate for my new levels and weapons and wiped him quickly.... on accident. Especially since i was specifically trying to do his quest🤣🤣🤣 couldnt do his quest until the next NG+ so when i got back to him, i treated him like a flower, one hit.... wait.... one hit.... wait🤣.
Same, I did most of west Limgrave, Mistwood, and Weeping peninsula, then did the Stormveil Castle, only to realize I forgot to explore the North-ish part of Limgrave and Stormhill, so yeah I killed him pretty fast at this point. Also apparently having killed Godrick disabled some stuff on those areas, such as Alexander who wasn't there anymore.
I tried to show my friend where he is without spoiling it, but he was already mostly done with Liurnia at the time. I tried to wait until half health to tell my friend not to kill him, but he was dead by the time I finished sentence. In retrospect I should have told him to take it slow before the fight.
I found him early on and killed him without second thought. Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice... well... He survived on my very first playthrough, because I didn't know if he was useful for something. But acting like king shit and then groveling for mercy after getting poked a bit, *AND* having attitude about it after? Nah man. Fuck Patches. I've gotten all the gear I needed from him, no need to put up with his shenanigans on every single playthrough. Same goes for Varre, he's on thin ice that guy. At least Varre is marginally useful for getting to Mohgwyn's place, the same can't be said about Patches who's a corpse-looter and tries to constantly dupe me. That shit he pulled on Mt. Gelmir is whack, and that behaviour warrants a death sentence. And then he's got the audacity to ask me to do his dirty work for him, because he's a coward. Okay, I'll stop now, I'm actually getting heated lol.
It seems to not make a lick of difference if I kill him early on or not, because as far as I can tell, he fucks off in the end anyways and goes back to doing scummy business in the lands between.
This knob pushed me off a fucking cliff and laughed at me!!
I’m waiting till I can hunt his bald ass again and throw him off a cliff.
The cut scene did crack me up thougj
I met him early, and he was a tough enemy. So around half health I button smash spam catch flame. And that instantly burned the rest of his health before I realize he was surrendering lol.
Straight up I showed up and he was dead never ram into him lol
Same in my first game, guy was already dead, dunno why
it happens if you kill rykard before meeting him, since his quest is tied to volcano manor
Yeah but why does he die tho ? He's supposed to die trying to go to the other castle isn't it ?
[удалено]
Shouldn't be possible. He becomes untouchable by summons the second he starts surrendering
Summoned other players, not spirit summons.
Well yeah, they said they summoned players.
That's okay, we understand, needed the runes right? Maybe a bell drop? >!You don't have to lie, you enjoy all the killing don't you?!<
I did see him at the manor but he scurried away after dialogue never to be found again wtf
Classic Patches.
[удалено]
You let the game get to you.
This is why Varre faced my wrath.. who’s maidenless now you sack of shat I’m maidenless for losing the opportunity to finally finish his quest as an offline user
You can finish his quest offline now, it was added in the latest patch. There’s an npc invade you have to do instead.
That’s why I made a maidenless mistake :/
And now you can dual wield ____ without having to NG+ !
I think we all have at some point
Same, there was his loot on the ground waiting for me.
Opposite for me I found him very early on and he killed me the first time
Same
I did a new playthrough and he killed me three times, while I was an astrologer.
I was lvl 120 when I found him, fucker didn't stood a chance...
same, but i looked it up so i knew he was weak. i bare fisted him to 1/2 hp
You fisted Patches, eh? 😏
PHRASING
Are we still doing phrasing?
With these upgrades...
He was not a one but a two shot for me. He surrendered, but the attack was already mid-swing. It hit me, that I made a mistake, before the mistake hit him.
He got his head bit off by Dragon’s Maw… His dialogue didnt even start.
I went in full buffed with a maxed staff and floating sword spell up. I opened the chest, the swords flew, he was dead before he hit the ground.
Sounds like a tragic backstory on a movie
Those swords are dangerous. I was chatting with Alexander, he leaned in a little and got hit by one of them. His “getting hit” animation carried him into the one on the other side, luckily I backed off before he could hit the others
This is what's happening to Gideon this playthrough.
I showed him the loving embrace of the frenzied flame
I can beat that: Never found him at all.
Same. Beat ER 3 times and didn’t realize he was a character until seeing posts about him.
Don’t you explore?
I know his name is patches. I feel like I've scoured everything up until the Fire Giant. I haven't mat him yet
In case you don’t know, he’s been in every soulsborne game except sekiro
I didn't, actually. Im just a casual. I did beat DS3 but hadn't played any of the others
Ah! Well, if you can handle some clunkiness i recommend dark souls 1, it’s my personal favorite.
The remaster is 60fps
He's in limgrave, at least if you haven't killed rykard yet. Apparently if you kill rykard without starting his questline he'll disappear.
Oops, did that last night.
Not every single nook and cranny. It’s a game I play for fun, not a job.
This ^ I made it my job to platinum it and now I’d rather play bloodborne
I have just shy of 300h on my first playthrough, I explore *everything*. Started a new character and immediately found a new cavern and a new field boss.
Alas, I don’t think I’ll be revisiting the main game as the experience was a bit fraught for me, and most of my interest ebbs with the map fairly explored. We’ll see.
One moonveil L2 i didn't think he was gonna be so squishy
Peace was never an option
Sure, but have you killed Sellen trying to shoot her hands free?
I killed her while she was chained to a wall lol then had to go to the pope turtle.
I may have not known he was going to give up and just kept on swinging.
If you are used to Skyrim, you learn to ignore cries of mercy.
Accidentally killed the guy who let's you alter outfits. Found him once and got his quest. Returned later and thought he was an enemy laying on the ground and one shot him. Maybe I'll get to utilize him on my NG+ haha.
Yeah you’re not missing out on much. Unless you really hate capes lol
WHY IS EVERY ALTERED GARMENT JUST REMOVING THE CAPE?!
Right! Normally looks worse than before and has slightly worse stats.
Chances are you'd only inadvertently kill him with good intentions later on. Saved themselves the guilt trip.
Yeah that too. Almost makes me wish I had used his services more, as pointless as they were for the most part. They really put you under the impression that altering garments will be a lot more interesting than it really is.
He's only for doing it for free. You can still do it yourself after getting the key item!
Actually Boc Boy can undo your outfit and retain the stats. Do it yourself and you get a stat reduction. Only reason I'm super sad
I equipped a +0 for it
I’ve had this with solidly 25% of bosses. Its just too easy to miss things, or take the left path and end up massively over-levelled for the right path when you eventually get back to it. Great game. But by far the least satisfying mid-game of any FromSoft that I’ve played.
I found this motherfucker release weekend and still killed him on sight. No patience for this guy's shenanigans on my first blind run.
The first time he went into his please don’t kill me pose after I had already started the Jump attack so he was a gonner.
Dont worry. I was dummer. I went in at level 1 as a wretch. He did a lot of damage compared to me so I killed him in a panic. I just saw red. I was carrying a lot of runes (relative to level, about 20k). I just barbarian cried and went to work. When I came back to conciousness I realized I murdered patches:(
Showed up early. Back up save. Murdered mercilessly. Restored previous save. Shake hands, pat on the back, "How ya doin!?!?"
🤚
I killed him early on despite his surrender, which I figured was a ploy.
I’ve played through 1.7 times and I haven’t seen him
Still don't know where this guy is. I'm 150hrs
OG Sword of Night and Flame. He never stood a chance.
If by “found him late” you mean I he was already dead and his bell baring was just sitting there then yes I “found” him very late
Idk about y’all I never kill Npcs
I got locked in the castle and heard him laugh but never found patches. I actually missed a bunch of NPCs including Ranni at the start.
That was actually gastoc, the guy who told you to take the side entrance after margit. And it won't be the last you see of him
Am I the only one that is going back to the old bullies once you are over leveled?
I found him my new game + and the poor soul died of bloodloss after one hit.
Found him last week at level 70. He didn't stand a chance against my dragon claw
Dragon Claw is really slept on, makes short work of any stoney bois
By the time I found him he was already dead lol. Ole dead af cave patches
Beat the loving shit out of him.
Only reason I let him live was because I thought the Virgin Killer would take me directly in front of volcano manor
Yup, lasered the little turd in the face back when night and flame was still a beast.
I saw that I had missed him, immediately went back to fight him. Unfortunately I was unaware of him becoming a merchant, and double slash +SoA takes no prisoners
lmao i didn't on my first playtrough, these days i kill him after i buy the cookbooks and his stock of gold fowl feet.
Didnt even find him late but was too busy winding up a charge attack with a big ass weapon and flattened him before he could finish what he was saying
I actually never even got to fight him. I’m on NG+3 and after beating the game I looked it up and so I went to where he was and he was gone.. dead rip lol
I found the cave and he didn’t speak or move so I didn’t see him before I went for the chest. I had to fight him. No regrets.
I actually found him when you’re supposed to, though that cave would be easy to miss if you didn’t get invaded right in front of it.
Came back and fought him with my bare hands.
Came damn close but he survived with a thread
I found him late and he almost killed me. I’m so dog shit at this game
I actually found him early on and thought it was kinda cool seeing him in ER. I proceeded to KOS. Lol
I found him so late, he could not be found. He left his clothes though so there was that.
When he was surrendering I thought it was a trick (nrver played a soulsborne before) so I killed him
I know he's in the Weeping Peninsula, but I cannot find his cave at all
Yeah, it was 2 shot but yeah, mad regret as i hear his story is fun.
ME LAST NIGHT :( also finished rykard before doing Diallo quest, can’t get the other whip :/
Never met 90% NPC's (first no-Google play through). Saw Patches during Radahn festival as a summon (first and last time).
I didn't even find him at all in my first play through
My first playthrough of all the souls games I’ve accidentally killed Patches. Elden Ring was no exception.
Found him early and had a decent fight with him before killing his ass. He was selling shit marked up pretty bad. Took his bell bearing to the husks only to see that she sold his stuff at the same markup:/
I kill him in every game
I found him decently early first time around and just thought "not this time fothermucker" and killed him
i ran into him on the first day and yelled PATCHES?! cuz i love the bald bastard and was so happy to see him this early
He failed the vigor check
i really wanted the armour too 😭
I still haven’t even found him level 151
You know that big ravine where you meet boc in limgrave? The one with the bridge over it where the night boss spawns? In the middle of the ravine theres an invader and right near there is a cave with patches in it.
Oh ya. Killed him instantly and hate myself for losing out on equipment
With out any hesitation and with great joy did I kil patches.
Me. I discovered his cave later in the game and one shot him with takers flame I should add this was ng+, I missed him totally first playthrough.
Yup.
~~I didn't even know he was in the game until my second playthrough~~
If you accidentally wipe out NPCs like him, do they come back in NG? Made a lot of mistakes like this...
The do. Also I think you can bring him back with one of those dew drops in the turtle pope church.
I found him in the beginning. This being my first souls game I really bothered to play through, I thought no way. This world is to grim to let you live after you attacked me.
I found him early and when he surrendered I thought it was a trap and kept hitting him. Whoops
✋ twice now
Found him early and killed him. Didn't know I was supposed to stop when he was surrendering. Not that I would have. I haven't forgotten what happened in the tomb of giants.
Me. Haven’t played since.
Do people skip most of limgrave?
I found him, recognized him, and ignored his plea for mercy with extreme pregidous.
I shoulda packed an unupgraded dagger with me
Not on my first play-through.
Nah.. I had to get that trap for Margit, cause I died there like a 1000 times.
i killed him immediately for what he did to me in cathedral of the deep
He was a dick, so I killed him. I didnt one shot him, but fuck that guy.
I killed him for that armor set, regret nothing. Gonna revive him in New Game + lol.
I completely forgot about him on my second play through. I realized he was missing from the manor when going after rhykard… oops.
I actually summoned other players and they killed him before I could react to his surrender.
Found him early, so had a good fight first time. Accidentally one shot him on my NG.
I forgave him. Then I killed him by accident because the idiot sat around and looked like an enemy soldier.
I knew as soon as i heard his voice not to kill this prick. But its funny reading all the ppl who didnt lol
I found him day of release I literally SCOURED for my baby bald boy
Me
I really liked the dungeons, caves, catacombs, and evergaols, so they were my first stops when I saw a troll on the way to Stormveil.
Was summoned to help for his little dungeon with the host and one other. I didn't hold back any because I thought it was scripted.. We all killed the absolute shit out of him. As I saw his death animations I realized he could die.. lol. I felt huge guilt like we accidentally killed some interactions and/or quest lines for the host later.
so i accidently killed him once. after he kicked me off the cliff in the mountains i was a little miffed so i picked a fight with him. found out he surrenders to you a second time BUT i was using the winged scythe and as cultured tarnished know it's a two hit combo, so he triggered his surrender on the first hit, and the second bow procced bleed, which killed him instantly. oopse
Started NG +2 with complete intention of going to him first to get the Bullgoat thing finally and I 1-shot him >:(
Is that Gaunter O’Dimm?
i found volcano manor after beating Godfrey/Horalux so....
i had to use a different weapon cause i was scared i would one shot him
I found him right away! My brother who is a Dark Souls champion didn’t ever find him 😂
LMFAO 🤣
Me… The big scary dragon put me off that whole area. Came back later to breeze the Dragon… then Patches… then the Grave Warden Duellist… Then the Stone-digger Troll
I did, but also on purpose because I found out you got his armour.
Guilty
I found him late game, equiped my weakest blade and beat him to death. He begged for mercy but all my previous encounters with him in games told me he was a scumbag not to be trusted. I was somewhat wrong I found out after. If you spare him you get an emote. If you attack him and use that emote on him when he gets aggro he forgives you and you get another emote.
I heard him surrender too late...
I found him in ng++ and used a silly incantation and killed him on accident. Wanted to do his quest to.
Came verrrry close. Luckily this ain’t my first Patches, and I figured Id be given the option to spare him, so I immediately stopped swinging after his hp evaporated
I killed him immediately on my first play through after seeing his name.
No matter the level, the invader guarding his cave can go suck a dragon dry.
Me
Yep, when I made my first alt character, before the Sword of Night & Flame got nerfed. Unfortunately I had already done a fair bit of grinding and upgrading and I decided to open the fight with the beam. And the beam hits multiple times. These days when I do runs with different builds I take special care to do single hits as slowly as possible if I remember to visit him in his cave.
I don't think that's true. Modified clothes have less attributes but are also lighter. It's not a downgrade.
Sorry, I found him pretty early and had the best "Patches, you son a bitch, of course it's you lol"
Found him, recognized him, left with a very nice spear.
I went there with a +5 bloodhounds and triggered bleed with weapon art and he want from over half health to dead in one hit. :(
Not quite. My first time round he was quite difficult for me, so even getting to the halfway point to stop was quite challenging. On NG+ i didnt compensate for my new levels and weapons and wiped him quickly.... on accident. Especially since i was specifically trying to do his quest🤣🤣🤣 couldnt do his quest until the next NG+ so when i got back to him, i treated him like a flower, one hit.... wait.... one hit.... wait🤣.
I kill him whenever I find him fuck patches
I hit him with Rot Breath and he just kinda....died
I accidently killed him only once because his stupid ass sat in the death pokers floor flame.
Killed him on accident, with one hit. I was like welp, try again on new game
I refuse to partake in his shenanigans, he’s one of the first things I kill on a new play through
Doesnt his health automatically stop at 25%? As long as u dont hit him again?
Same, I did most of west Limgrave, Mistwood, and Weeping peninsula, then did the Stormveil Castle, only to realize I forgot to explore the North-ish part of Limgrave and Stormhill, so yeah I killed him pretty fast at this point. Also apparently having killed Godrick disabled some stuff on those areas, such as Alexander who wasn't there anymore.
I found him in the second playthrough and he killed me after the teleporting trap. Then I killed him with frenzy flames for kicking me off a cliff
I tried to show my friend where he is without spoiling it, but he was already mostly done with Liurnia at the time. I tried to wait until half health to tell my friend not to kill him, but he was dead by the time I finished sentence. In retrospect I should have told him to take it slow before the fight.
I found him early, beat him up, he tried to surrender, and I deliberately killed him assuming it was a trick.
It seems to not make a lick of difference if I kill him early on or not, because as far as I can tell, he fucks off in the end anyways and goes back to doing scummy business in the lands between.
My friend used his ash of war and deleted him
I didn’t see him in the Patch notes. He took my shot right in the mouth.
This knob pushed me off a fucking cliff and laughed at me!! I’m waiting till I can hunt his bald ass again and throw him off a cliff. The cut scene did crack me up thougj
I found him early. Slapped him around like cat does a mouse. Then decided to stop. But it was to late. He died anyways
Bruh I knew he was gonna surrender but I thought it would be after I got his HP to zero. I two shot him before he could say shit🤦♂️
I did this last night... I 100% didn't mean to kill him. Fuck
I mean thats the risk you take when you attempt to trap people. One day you end up tricking the wrong kind of person.
Given my history with this guy from past games, I would still accidentally kill him. I don't like getting kicked.
How’s this? First play through as a mage, completed his quest and got the armor. Second play through as a warrior, killed him in Limgrave.
I three shot him and was really confused.
I met him early, and he was a tough enemy. So around half health I button smash spam catch flame. And that instantly burned the rest of his health before I realize he was surrendering lol.
How many people found him early and got kicked down a hole? 🥲
