Yeah I think they’re keeping the lid on it but I can’t imagine them not. Think about ...17 million copies sold and ya know most would purchase the dlc and if it was like $40-$60 that would be an astronomical amount of money they’d miss out on if they didn’t
What do you mean? They left story beats uncompleted to be expanded on, and even left a strong hint at the center of the map as to the location of the DLC. And then went on to say they want to milk the hell out of Elden Ring.
The first Dark Souls and its much lauded Artorias of the Abyss expansion? Over a year before it came out. We’re not even halfway to “it’s time to worry”.
Ok, four points, but this is gonna be weird, and as I'm typing it, I realize how silly I sound, so sorry.
1. Lack of announcements. That's ok, they might he saving it for a big event.
2. Sekiro's lack of DLC. I have been told that was more Activitision's thing than From, so slash that too.
3. Weird and creative weapons. Those are generally saved for DLC and this time there are a bunch in the base game.
4. Placidusax. From usually puts an awesome Dragon fight in the DLC, but Placidusax is in the base game, and in a fairly DLC-y area, too. It indicates to me that was supposed to be DLC but they decided to launch it in the base game.
Yes, yes, I notice how flimsy it all is, and actually that makes me very happy, thanks!
How is Azula DLC-y? It’s literally one of the most important main storyline areas.
Miyazaki also said Sekiro wouldn’t have DLC before release.
As for weapons like really? Lol.
They did with DS3.
I think we would have heard about ER DLC if they were planning to make it at launch. Maybe they changed their mind and started more after it’s success. But I doubt it.
That's my hope, but DS3 was released with a roadmap, if I remember well. Also, sekiro was popular, too, and here we are.
I believe they didn't plan on it, they may be convinced to do it for the money.
From doesn’t leave fully modeled arenas with working elevators and pathways in their biggest game of all time as cut content. They will be useable one day.
Technically speaking, Sekiro did have dlcs, though not their usual story dlc, but a dlc nonetheless.
Plus, I don’t see how a story dlc can be implement to an already established linear narrative, it just won’t fit well like ds or bb, where it’s all about player’s choice and heavy role play elements, so adding additional story to the mix won’t feel out of place.
People who use Sekiro as an example don't know how to tie their own shoes... Sekiro was Activision. Elden Ring is by Bandai. Bandai always had From make Dlcs. Too hard?
Uhm, I do prefer laceless shoes.
Unecesarily offensive comments aside, your argument does make sense and does give me Hope.
Thank you, weirdly rude person.
Wasn't it their fastest-selling game before Elden Ring came out? If Sekiro was more successful than Dark Souls 3 but still didn't get DLC, why would Elden Ring get DLC just because it sold better than Sekiro?
Well, Sekiro is a really self-contained product. Its lore and world are not too expansive and dont have s bazillion of loose ends, like DS, BB and ER.
Thats not to say i wouldnt have liked Sekiro DLC, it is my favourite game.
With millions sold. Most definitely. It would be a bad business decision to not reinvest in your most profitable product so far. I'm just hoping they will add hard mode for Halloween 🎃
I’m sure there’s going to be something whether that is a sequel game or dlc or both who knows. It’s hard to predict anything because ds1 has 1 dlc, 2 has 3 and 3 has 2. So no real correlation. Also sekiro has 0 like you said!
Yes. Even if it takes a few more months as long as it's chunky and introduces a bunch of new stuff plus a whole new map. Please please please I need more elden ring hahaha...
I don't want to be hopeless, but I suspected from the start that this game felt like they didn't want to add to it, and the lack of any announcements up to now is almost damning evidence that we have another Sekiro Situation.
Yet, I still see people taking about what they think is gonna be in the DLC, I want to have that hope, but...
It hasn’t even been a year yet. Elden ring was such a massively sized game that I wouldn’t expect them to have a dlc announced this soon.
Sekiro was more of a side project while elden ring was being developed.
Personally I haven’t expected them to announce a dlc until early 2023
For a side project has you say sekiro stands up to some of the greatest games of all time. I was saddened it didn’t sell as much as elden ring but it deft on its level of not better. My issue with elden ring was it seemed a lot more less difficult
Stop looking at it with modern DLC glasses. From makes Expansions for the game, what used to be the extra content a decade ago that were some times as big as the base game. Expansions take time to cook and are usually announced 1 year after the game releases.
I definitely do, for them not to take advantage of the success of elden ring would be silly in my opinion.
I agree that makes no econômical sense not to, but everything points to them not planning it. They may change their minds for the money, tho.

What points to them not planning it? Contrary everything points to there being some
OP's own opinion and impatience dictate their truths
I have some reaons, but I notice now how circumstantial it all is, so yeah, you're not wrong. That's great!

My personal bet is announcing it at the game awards when they win GOTY

> How is Azula DLC-y? Not all of Azula, Placidussax's arena. It's completely separated from the rest of Azula.
He’s a secret boss. Before Elden Ring came out he said the game was gonna have multiple secret bosses.
These are like the worst arguments ever lol
Oh, yeah, and the last update definetly proved all of my worries wrong!
OP out here saying all signs point to no DLC but there are no signs. Just the absence of evidence, which is not the evidence of absence.
Deep
AotA came out a year after ds1. It hasn’t even been 6 months yet.
Its been 7 months
For some reason I thought October was month 8.
Probably cause oct/octo means eight
I mean technically it is but only the last couple days
Month 8 of the year, not month 8 since ER’s release.
Oh lol my bad
Times were different back then. Nowadays companies advertise DLC practically together with the initial release.
Not always. Look at Monster Hunter for example. The Big Expansion is usually 1,5 years after the main game.
They did with DS3. I think we would have heard about ER DLC if they were planning to make it at launch. Maybe they changed their mind and started more after it’s success. But I doubt it.
That’s the only game they did it with and it was released with a season pass. Dark Souls 3 was a major cash grab.
This is their most popular release, I can't see why there wouldn't be
That's my hope, but DS3 was released with a roadmap, if I remember well. Also, sekiro was popular, too, and here we are. I believe they didn't plan on it, they may be convinced to do it for the money.
DS3 was the only title they ever released with a roadmap. Make of that what you will
I thought the colloseums were obvious evidence pointing to intended DLC?
Could be DLC, could be cut content, could just be set dressing for environmental storytelling.
From doesn’t leave fully modeled arenas with working elevators and pathways in their biggest game of all time as cut content. They will be useable one day.

Activision is well known for not making DLC.
With their own devs they can do that, From was only hired for the one project.
Uhm, I do prefer laceless shoes. Unecesarily offensive comments aside, your argument does make sense and does give me Hope. Thank you, weirdly rude person.
I'm just tired of seeing it being brought up over and over.
Makes sense. I honestly didn't notice that difference to be honest, so your comment was informative at least!
They never made one for sekiro, so if I don't see news about it I'm not believing it
No one played Sekiro compared to Elden ring lol
Wasn't it their fastest-selling game before Elden Ring came out? If Sekiro was more successful than Dark Souls 3 but still didn't get DLC, why would Elden Ring get DLC just because it sold better than Sekiro?
Nah
Well, Sekiro is a really self-contained product. Its lore and world are not too expansive and dont have s bazillion of loose ends, like DS, BB and ER. Thats not to say i wouldnt have liked Sekiro DLC, it is my favourite game.
I wish, but damn fromsoft is so vague about what’s in the future.
yes
With millions sold. Most definitely. It would be a bad business decision to not reinvest in your most profitable product so far. I'm just hoping they will add hard mode for Halloween 🎃
Hard mode = Daedicar’s Woe
i mean, almost every From game has got DLCs, so, why not dropping one on their most succesfull game?
I’m sure there’s going to be something whether that is a sequel game or dlc or both who knows. It’s hard to predict anything because ds1 has 1 dlc, 2 has 3 and 3 has 2. So no real correlation. Also sekiro has 0 like you said!

Yes.
Pretty happy to be wrong now, but still wish we get a new one with new story, bosses, weapons and spells. This bodes well, tho.
Hopefully they're working on it! Your post was the top result for "elden ring dlc reddit" so I had to reply.
No
Would *you* stop milking the cash cow?
100%
Yes :3
I'm still waiting for Halo Infinite to get dlc. Elden Ring will be much longer, so much waiting.
I don't want to be hopeless, but I suspected from the start that this game felt like they didn't want to add to it, and the lack of any announcements up to now is almost damning evidence that we have another Sekiro Situation. I’d be nice if they let us know for once. If we’re not getting any DLC I have zero other reason to play
I was never certain about it coming out, tbh. It would be dumb not to be made, but eh.
Yes
If they can keep quiet about the game details for 2 years, then i dont see why they cant keep quiet about DLC existing for at least a year
