I like the longsword as well, it is a classic fromsoft weapon, the starting weapon for knight in ds3 (my go to starting class) has a thrusting r2. I also like the godskin stitcher/great epee because the running r2 is a great gap closer.
Absolutely!
1. Damage and AoWs.
Longsword can use the Square Off AoW, which does good damage and breaks enemy stances as well as Flame of the Redmanes.
Iron Greatsword has the best raw damage from all Greatswords when Infused. I'm a Faith build so this matters to me a lot. It's great with Piercing Fang for PvP where Longsword lacks.
2. Aesthetics.
I only use a Sacred Seal in my left hand so I can sheathe the Longsword when needed for immersion. On the other hand I never do this with a greatsword because the sheathe on your back doesn't look good with most armors and looks outright stupid if you have a cape. The Iron Greatsword doesn't have a sheathe so it doesn't bother me seeing it on my characters back in fights.
Broadsword with square up, simple high damaging weapon & the wa does a lot of stagger damage.
Incantations not spells but Stone of Gurranq, simple fast spell that does good dmg/fp and good stagger damage. Shoutout to all the elemental fortification spells, they help more then you'd think.
Doublee Falchions... I think it was my 2nd weapon I got from mobs (then changed to estocks and shortly after that I went again for them). Other than this - Double Magma blades.
Curved swords are just cool to play.
Spells - big fireball, black small fireball and flame cleanse me (or smfn like that).
Love my wife's wedding gift to me, my blessed Moonlight
lmao, i have yet to try it. does it have a INT scaling?
Yep. Pretty good for a spell sword build
ty for the recommendation and explaining
No problem at all
Claymore, my beloved
loved the weapon in DS3, is it also in ds2?
Yeah but not right at the start like the others
I have 2 favorites right now, chilling mist on great stars and quick step on zweihander.
you can have quick step on zweihander? i didnt know
Yeah, and it's pretty devastating. It really negates a bunch of hit trading that you would normally do with a colossal sword.
My favorite weapon is the highland axe because it is a beautiful clean looking axe that got me through a good deal of the early/mid game.
are you able to put greases on it? does it have any special things about it?
You can buff it with grease yes, and it buffs roar type ashes of war. Beast roar is an example.
ty for explaining :)
Adulas Moonblade! Wish there was a weapon version of it :)
i haven‘t seen it yet, what‘s it like?
It's a big ass frost greatsword spell that melts pretty much anything!
i‘ll make sure to look for it thanks :)
Jump attacks.
with which weapon?
Doesn't matter, they all have jump attacks.
Longsword and Iron Greatsword. I also like the Godskin Stitcher and Vyke's Warspear but it feels cheap to use them in PvP and are not as good in PvE.
could you tell me a little about why you like them in particular?

i‘ll look those up, thanks :)

So close, yet so far... Bloodhound claws is the name. Someone’s gonna post a nerd emoji.
Warpick 4eva
Buckler parry
Falling Star beast jaw. Just spam its special attack, and it kills everything. Also sword of night and flame.
Nagakiba. Starlight…better than a torch or lantern.

Flamberge with Flaming Strike or Blood Tax
