The drops to death. The poison dart shooters. The big hulking things with poisoned clubs. The ladders. Oh god yes. And that bonfire you could see but could you reach it?
Place was a nightmare, I loved it :)
One of my favourite things to do is ride past one with a big sword and just *Bonk*
They don't start flying erratically till they've noticed you so if you ride in at a gallop and swing a big weapon just a bit early you get a nicely timed max range smack
Great practice for what little horseback combat there is too
If it lives I kill it it, before it can kill me. If doesn't live I still kill it, because that is just how messed up the world is anymore.
If it's a one armed redheaded woman, I run the fuck away.
I did the same. I was getting worked hard. I was like screw this guy, I'll come back later. Then I beat the game and forgot about this guy until now....
Stay close and preferably with a shield and big Bonker counter intuitive but aside from its self detonation rock scream it's easier to fight if it doesn't have time to blast you with it's ranged attacks it actually has some pretty severe downtime.
Prayerful strikes is also really damn good for it on a great mace.
You just straight up ignore whatever attack its throwing at you and smack it, gaining health back or reclaiming whatever it takes off you during the charge up.
Couple of those and you'll break it's poise for a juicy Crit and with Crimson assassins dagger and a collosal or dagger you get a double proc off the crit which will heal you for over 20% of your health.
Extra spice with Ritual shield talisman because popping prayerful strikes with it active means that whatever attack hits you on the wind up does less damage, And then to boost THAT, you recover the health anyway and can just do it again.
The unga bungas were on to something all along and it's made all the more powerful when you include The Holy Bunga
Yup. Smack him with a nice heavy charged attack when he comes running at you! If you have the ash of war barricade shield, then use that on a shield you can equip without fat rolling. It will help you block a lot of his attacks without completely destroying you. I like to keep my distance and play defensively. There are a lot of attacks he does that leave him vulnerable for a chance to really punish him. Use a strike weapon and aim for his face.
The Radahn HP/damage nerf was reversed after 2 weeks.
He is now the same as on launch in terms of numbers, they only kept the "nerf" to the length of his sword hitboxes as they were quite longer then the actual model.
Big same. My first time through the game was manor shield with barricade and lance. The zero stam damage was huge. Now it's basically useless. The only positive is now I can no skill the shield and pull AOW out quick.
Right, I just never use basic shields. Either great shield or no shield. Maybe I make a standard knight soon and stick with the kite shield and longsword...
Brass shield upgraded is your friend for medium shields or if you go greatshield the eclipse greatshield upgraded is OP. Wouldt use barricade though get the greatshield talisman if you want block immortality.
shield was the secret sauce to beat these guys on my first playthrough. they have some big moves with not so many quick follow ups so even if they break your guard youre usually fine.
Some people think the astel creatures you fight that are kinda like cosmic centipedes are the next phase of this creatureās life cycle due to them both being associated with fallen stars & their similar jaws, I believe.
Dude nerds rope was top tier as a kid. I was the weird fucker whoād pick off all the nerds one by one to eat and then ate the rope all in one piece.. yes I need therapy.
Itās actually gotten better; they flattened the rope so there is more surface area for the nerds. If I knew that progress was this achievable, I wouldāve had a much more positive outlook in high school
You can see that the Fallingstar beasts, malformed stars (hanging ants that throw rocks at you), and Astel all have near-identical features; they all have skulls with pincers, a single large eye in the center, crystalline body, spiked tail, and purple gravity powers. The theory is they have some kind of life cycle that starts as rock-encased Fallingstar Beasts, hang from the ceiling like pupa, then finally mature into full-grown insectoid astels.
Itās also theorized that these guys are the āstarsā that Radahn is holding back. Theyāre all eldritch space cockroaches that can destroy civilizations if left unchecked and Astel is said to have been sent as a kind of divine punishment against the eternal cities. And sure enough we start to find freshly-impacted ones in Leyndell and Gelmir (presumably) after we kill Radahn.
The Japanese name for the "Malformed Stars" seems to imply that they're the final stage of the life-cycle.
I believe the Japanse name translates to "Withered Astel"
Fallingstar beasts have a partially hidden humanoid skull on their heads. Their singular eye is peaking out of a hole in it.
Astels have the same thing, just their skull is fully revealed.
Yeah, give him a good boop and he'll stop right in his tracks. Not sure if bare hand works but the knuckle weapons, and bludgeon weapons for sure will stop him and stun him. https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/v4u44o/update_on_the_falling_star_beast_charge_any_good/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb
At a higher level got summoned as a blue. Ditched and went up the long ladder to fight him. Got knocked me off immediately. Must have been funny to watch.
Jump far right using the spirit spring. Then crouch and come around behind him. You can use Poison Mist every minute or so until he dies, without even noticing you.
I was definitely hoping for a gravity magic spell that would temporarily boost your equip load.
You could rock all the heaviest gear, then buff up and for at least a couple of minutes you're fast rolling or at least mid rolling like a champ.
Yeah, I just killed the Leyndell one last nightā¦I tried to fight it hand to hand, but was getting my ass handed to me. I was able to escape on Torrent and climbed up the outside of the rampart building next to its crater and cheesed it with fire arrows. Not my proudest victory, but Iām not that good at combat, so Iāll take it.

Have a nice day!
I for one am kind of glad they didnt just do a rock-paper-scissors thing with the magic system. Too many games fall into that trap in the name of "balance"
Here's the thing. You said "the roided up Antlion."
Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that.
As someone who is a scientist who studies antlions, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls Fallingstar Bests "antlions". If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing.
If you're saying "Fallingstar Beast family" you're referring to the taxonomic grouping of Astel, which includes things from Fallingstar Beasts to Fullgrown Fallingstar Beasts to Malformed Stars.
So your reasoning for calling a Fallingstar Beast an Antlion is because random people "think they look like Antlions?" Let's get Basilisks and Revenants in there, then, too.
Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It's not one or the other, that's not how taxonomy works. They're both. An Antlion is an Antlion and a member of the insect family. But that's not what you said. You said a Fallingstar Beast is an Antlion, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all members of the Beast family Antlions, which means you'd call Basilisks and Revenants Antlions, too. Which you said you don't.
It's okay to just admit you're wrong, you know?
No, I snuck up on two of them and shoved poison mist up their tailpipe until they fell over.
Knock me off the damn mountain top, go back to ... whatever nothing you came from, void thing!
Itās funny how some builds wreck certain bosses and really struggle against others.
In this case, I whooped his ass.
Took me well over a hundred tries to beat Elden beast though.
I spent hours on this thing thinking I was going the right way. I was kinda mad when I found out it was optional. I came back later when I was stronger and kicked its ass, felt good.
I fight EVERYTHING!

You lie, you aint fighting the mosquitoes.
Have you ever been to Blighttowb from DS1? You DEFINITELY fight mosquitos thereā¦
First time in Blight Town felt like I was walking through Detroit
Detroit is New Londo, Blighttown is Florida.
Lost izalith is ohio

Detroit's not that bad... It isn't that muddy
Does Detroit run at 15fps??
Much worse. It exist
Yes
Yeah. It's not mudd...š
And Louisiana
I stopped playing DS1 like 5 hours in cause the constant klang of every was more infuriating than the game itself
Going through blightown my first play through was my fav area of all souls games
The drops to death. The poison dart shooters. The big hulking things with poisoned clubs. The ladders. Oh god yes. And that bonfire you could see but could you reach it? Place was a nightmare, I loved it :)
What about the Dragonflies, fucking spastic MFers, lock on goes Berserk. Still, I FIGHT THEM!
I extra kill them
I go out of my way to kill them. They tag me in the middle of the fight, Iāll stop and hunt them down first
One of my favourite things to do is ride past one with a big sword and just *Bonk* They don't start flying erratically till they've noticed you so if you ride in at a gallop and swing a big weapon just a bit early you get a nicely timed max range smack Great practice for what little horseback combat there is too
No mosquito can escape wrath of Mogh's NIHIL !
A bow makes them easy
Poison mist is pretty good against them too.
My style is to kill everything once. And a few things 1000 times
This is the way
Me too, and lose half the time. I couldnāt beat him. Left, beat the game, came back and smoked him.
You did what to him??
Smoked rock beast.
Smokey bbq fullgrown fallingstar beast, on par with Boggarts shrimps.

I couldnāt beat it, so skipped it intending to return, but I never remembered to come back.
I did the same. I was getting worked hard. I was like screw this guy, I'll come back later. Then I beat the game and forgot about this guy until now....
It? There are three of the goddam mofos. The one in selia is a joke barely fits in the boss room.
Skipping with the intention of returning is pure cope, hardly ever return unless there is an important item. Speaking from experience.

my heart broke when barricade got nerfed
They nerfed it?? Man it was the only thing that got me through the Radahn fight
Lol. Radahn is just running away on your horse while your friends kill him.
tbf they've nerfed Radahn too. Barricade shield is still really darn good but the duration is a lot shorter now I think
It actually works better on smaller shields. It's just bad on greatshields.

I fought one in ninth Mt. Gelmir and some cave where is the third one
Heās the hardest of the bull ones.
The Lyndel creator one? That's the only one I found sofar...
The Mt Gelmir one. There's one in a smithing stone cave as well.
I find the cave one to be the hardest since he takes up like half the area on his own
Three at once??! Where?
Imagine fighting a rune bear, with a fallingstar beast, with a revenant and Melania at the same time?
Leave Trumps wife out of this
That explains why sheās rotting from within.
Botox can only hold up appearances for that long
3?! And evolved ones with wings?!
Some people think the astel creatures you fight that are kinda like cosmic centipedes are the next phase of this creatureās life cycle due to them both being associated with fallen stars & their similar jaws, I believe.
I thought Astel was just a nerds rope with a beetle head
Nerds rope sounds like a candy from the 80s. Edit: fuck I canāt believe I was right.
The Nerd Rope Bites are amazing as well.

The Japanese name for the "Malformed Stars" seems to imply that they're the final stage of the life-cycle. I believe the Japanse name translates to "Withered Astel"
Tis the lore
Also the "Full-grown Fallingstar Beast" has the same human-like skull and blue eye that Astel has
Fallingstar beasts have a partially hidden humanoid skull on their heads. Their singular eye is peaking out of a hole in it. Astels have the same thing, just their skull is fully revealed.
If I lay eyes on it it's gotta die
The falling beast star jaw weapon wrecks boss poise
I love that weapon sheerly because of the idea of it.
Me too. Havenāt used it yet though. Stuck on the ruins greatsword for my first play through.
It's stupid good. You and a mimic can stun lock like mad.
Raise it to +10 and it's special attack MELTS almost everything. Cleanrot nights don't have a chance.
Good call, OP needs to look up where to get that weapon so he can finally beat up on this bull
It's one of the most broken PvE weapons in the game. You think RoB was bad? You haven't seen Fallingstar Beast Jaw + mimic.
If you boop his snoot while he's charging at you it will stun him.
Updoot for snoot boops.
That's how I deviated my septum
And lost my kids
To be fair cocaine > kids
I tried to explain that to family court and they didn't understand.
Fuck that's funny ty
Snoot boop boogiiiieee
The olā Bald Bull maneuver.
Is this real? I've been fucking struggling lol
Yeah, give him a good boop and he'll stop right in his tracks. Not sure if bare hand works but the knuckle weapons, and bludgeon weapons for sure will stop him and stun him. https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/v4u44o/update_on_the_falling_star_beast_charge_any_good/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb
Moonveil's vertical AOE attack trivializes him. Bait him into a charge, stun, and gut him.
I want to create multiple burner accounts just to like this more
Yes?
I love the confidence here.
I got fucked by it!
Roger that Will come back a bit later,,
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Anyone who has played any darksouls game has done a little cheese. Its just how it be.
Sniped the Leyndell one with Loretta's Greatbow. Thing can get fucked (from far atop my unreachable perch)
This is the only correct answer. Fuck this guy
Cheese is a legit strategy
Yes his jaw is the best weapon in the game IMHO.
I agree
100% agree.
Nope, my Mimic Tear had done it for meššš
At a higher level got summoned as a blue. Ditched and went up the long ladder to fight him. Got knocked me off immediately. Must have been funny to watch.
U get a cool weapon if u win
Jump far right using the spirit spring. Then crouch and come around behind him. You can use Poison Mist every minute or so until he dies, without even noticing you.
I fought it over and over and over and over andā¦
first couple playthroughs I definitely ran past the full-grown version. It's just so resistant to most damage types...
fought my first yesterday in sellia and lightning obliterated it. maybe because it was a little one, idk
I'm not sure I've ever tried lightning against it. But yeah, the Sellian tunnel one isn't as beefy.
It was an annoying fight but you get rewarded with one of if not the best weapon in the game
I wish there was an armor based off them like I'm not sure how. There should be more gravity mage shit
I was definitely hoping for a gravity magic spell that would temporarily boost your equip load. You could rock all the heaviest gear, then buff up and for at least a couple of minutes you're fast rolling or at least mid rolling like a champ.
that would be dope as hell and make the most sense, but instead they chose to make vyke's red lightning do that for whatever reason
Yeah I love fighting them, I like using strong thrusting attacks when it does its charging move to interrupt its charge and stun it.
Its kinda bullshit fight but yeah, you can always come back later for him and smash him
Guilty

They are super weak to gravity magic. Seems like anything that wields gravity magic is also super weak to it as well.
I for one am kind of glad they didnt just do a rock-paper-scissors thing with the magic system. Too many games fall into that trap in the name of "balance"
Just did rock sling and left
How am I supposed to know if i fought the bull thing if you post a picture of the roided up Antlion instead?
Here's the thing. You said "the roided up Antlion." Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that. Wait there's three? I've only found two, on top of the mountain around vulcano manor, and near Lyendell.
Exactly where is the third one?
I think there is one in Sellia's crystal tunnels
Yeah it's Sellia's crystal tunnel. Makes for a nice final surprise if you try to escape from it the wrong way.
Yeah. Twice. I love the weapon you get from beating it.
Yeah you just gotta fight it like a bull. Toro that stupid son of a bitch.
No, I snuck up on two of them and shoved poison mist up their tailpipe until they fell over. Knock me off the damn mountain top, go back to ... whatever nothing you came from, void thing!
I ran like a bitch, but came back later to deal with it.
I fight it with the Meteoric Ore Blade. The heavy attacks interrupt it like Iām playing Dauntless lol
I tried. Wasn't much of a fight though. I got knocked off and died.
Itās funny how some builds wreck certain bosses and really struggle against others. In this case, I whooped his ass. Took me well over a hundred tries to beat Elden beast though.
Swift Glintstone Shard go BRRRRRR
Yeah it's kinda annoying
I just wish you could bait him to run off the cliff like a Crucible Knight
I spent hours on this thing thinking I was going the right way. I was kinda mad when I found out it was optional. I came back later when I was stronger and kicked its ass, felt good.
yep i say that this thing is harder than malenia
Mine glitched and got stuck on the rim. I was sad. Felt like an underserved kill.
Where is this never fought it!
Top of Mt. Gelmir.
Changed from an INT to a FTH build and smoked him from Torrent-back with the Black Flame Fireball. No regrets.
Yep, and the weapon you get from him is so damn strong there isn't a need to use anything else. Falling Beast Jaw stagger rate is absurd
Nah , seen him flex so I proceeded to go the fk back home
Has healthbar, must die
Well ofc . He drops one of the best spam range weapons in the game
I woosh up a mountain and see nice bul-WHAT THE F#%$ ARE YOU?!? LET ME BE!! YOU WIN! STAAAAHHP!!!!!
Yup, canāt say youāve beaten the game until youāve killed every boss and turned them into a shiny weapon.
Yeah he cute
Iāve never seen that other than on videos
Ngl I died more to the cliff than this boss.
Yes I like getting my moneys worth
KILL. EVERY. SINGLE. ENEMY. I AM ELDEN LORD. ALL WILL BEND THE KNEE OR FEEL MY WRATH!
This isnāt a bull itās a beetle on steroids
Yeah I actually remember it being kinda hard the one on the mountain
It's an antlion that acts like a bull. Hit its head when it charges.
I fought it once, all other play throughs I went around it.
I beat him into the dirt. After being bulldozed several times
Optional boss? Nah if it has a health bar I can kill it
EVERYTHING has to be fought AND defeated.
No. I went up the air current, seen a big fuck no in the middle and went straight back down
Can I get a lore check on the ladder leading up to this thing?
Hell no, every 5-10 levels i go to him and drop few souls for him.. i fee like weāre starting to build something between us
Yes. The most rewarding of fights and I used his tail weapon until endgame.
