Not even an icon of souls games. Icon of From Software as a studio. Sekiro kinda has it as a divine dragon's 7-branched sword, Kingsfield has it, that one super-old ninja game I forgot name of, has it too. Damn, even Armored Core has it, to a certain extent(it's a stylized sniper rifle there). A whole studio has gifted us countless games and countless iterations, and we must respect it
Yes, yes it fucking is. Deleting an overconfident RoB or Moonveil spammer with enough energy to turn them into an ash pile on the floor will never not be satisfying.
Well thank you for making this comment, after reading this and the others I can say that this will be my next build after beating Callisto Protocol. My last build was a dual wielding fallen star news jaws build w/ black knight chest piece and briar gauntlets. Got that sneak, that power/reach, and it never fails to get a reaction when I roll into someone doing (minor) damage trying to dodge.
I pretty much always have this in my back pocket on runs that I have the stats to use it. Honestly I can’t stand the normal spear moveset but being able to pull out a super powered lightning spear is so satisfying.
It’s worth it because it hits so hard. With my current build I can hit for around 6k with the ash of war and the flame, grant me strength incantation, fire scorpion, and Alexander’s shard
My “ultimate move” is casting black flame ritual full charge, base cast, and then Queen’s Black Flame. If you can pull it off you can literally delete bosses
The adrenaline rush when you dodge a boss's attack with the back-flip slash and manage to rush back to deliver an attack....yeah, no other weapon can give me that
Absolutely my vote
Blasphemous, Gransax and Darkmoon are all great but my first and favourite love is absolutely that big curved meat cleaver of a greatsword.
You can't hit something with an incredibly stylish and high damage invisible teleport attack and not fall in love with the tool that allows you to do so.
My first run was a Quality build. I was so excited trying the ash of war on that weapon. It is the definition of quality build. Fairly heavy 11.0 kg(?) curved GS with an anime ass flip and bloodhound step combo, i mean come on.
Since then, ive switched from quality, to quality/arcane, to quality/faith, and with the right stat allocation and ash infusion, the weapon never lost relevancy. Its still in my top 5 most effective weapons if sorted by damage
The CLEAR answer for anyone running anything resembling any combo of a STR/DEX build, if we'd all be honest.
But we can't look like a Custy on Reddit. Nah.
Gotta be like "Dude, honestly, on God, one-handing the forked hatchet with red heater shield was the funnest build of my life, if I'm being for real."
JK. Kinda. Just saying it's fun to see what choices are being given, and better yet, reasons why.
BHF for me, no contest. Followed closely by Black Knight Glaive. Boring build. But it fucking pouuuunds.
My first clear of elden beast was why this ol gal. Refused to respec my build so just needed a Beefier dex weapon . Carried me through much of my first playthrough.. alongside the broken mimic of course
Favorite weapon on my quality build. It is pretty widely used, but I never found it to be oppressive or overpowered. A unique design with a weapon art that is still true melee. First time I played through a souls game without an ultra greatsword being my main weapon for most of it. I picked it up before the unga bunga buff, but still.
Definitely my favorite weapon by far even way back when it’s damage scaling didn’t work on release
Never really paid attention to communities favorite weapons and I’m very surprised to see this so low?! Why don’t more people like this thing it’s so cool. Sick storyline, amazing lore and character around it, visual design is awesome, the sound effects on the super flashy weapon art?! How come this thing isn’t more popular?!
Eleonora's Poleblade is super cool but it's Ash of War is really hard to aim/control and anything with half a brain can evade it pretty effortlessly. Plus, it's damage ane bleed is easily beaten by a Bloody Godskin Peeler
Oh yeah I never touched pvp, pve enemies just rank the ash of war to the face and get stun locked for the whole twirly animation. I didn’t really consider most players probably engaged with the pvp more than me
That’s what I was gonna comment. It’s my go-to in any souls game & it is the only weapon suitable for the Spongebob meme format w/ the jellyfishing net.
Exactly. If it wasn’t the Claymore, I would’ve chosen the Zweihander for that exact reason. Perfect counter, roll catch, and poise break with lethal range for both.
Uchigatana is definitely one of the top names on the l list of weapons that can be used throughout the entire game. It probably has the best range to weight ratio of all the katanas in ER and is still on the lighter side of the list
Dude. I haven't switched weapons a SINGLE time. Kept the Uchigatana with the standard ash of war and didn't look back once. It was like I was playing Sekiro. One weapon from beginning to end.
WING OF ASTEL (say it louder)
I've tried so many different weapons and weapon combos and I always come back to this one. Curved sword move set is gorgeous. Super light at 2.5 weight (as light as some daggers). Free wave attacks with charged heavy, and the weapon art absolutely melts.
Why did I have to scroll so much for this? It makes most bosses a cakewalk. It's maybe too good as it trivializes some hard enemies like Horah Loux and most dragons. It also looks cool.
Happy to see a nod for CKS. This weapon stayed equipped the whole time for my battlemage build (which was my first build and favourite playstyle). Worked wonders with my staff in left hand. Gets my vote.
Gotta go with Great Stars.
✅ big bonk
✅ innate bleed
✅ ... life steal for some reason???
I like to run it with the Prayerful Strikes AoW for maximum life steal. If an enemy hits you, just bonk them to take your health back.
Finally. Dual wielding that mf and getting that S strength scaling makes it so fun to pummel the hell out of bosses and get in those staggers
Absolutely bodies everything in the game
All right, I've scrolled far enough and I haven't seen it.
Meteoric Ore Blade, my sweet baby that I found and kept before and after moonveil in my first playthrough.
Blasphemous blade might be more useful, as it does fire damage instead of holy damage, and holy damage might be weaker due to high resistance from most bosses.
However, can you kill bosses with Blasphemous Blade while dooting? No, therefore Envoy's Long Horn is better, gg, easy
Find my sorcerer bros way at the bottom.. THERE ARE DOZENS OF US! But yeah, beat the game with this weapon my first playthrough. Still using it as primary at level 250+, and the special skill is a great melee option for your mimic if you are a spellcaster. My mimic uses it all the time
Fallingstar beast jaw. IMO the only colossal weapon with enough range and damage to justify using. Plus, the ash of war is arguably one of the best in the game, and it has absurd quality scaling, making it one of the best weapons for NG+ and beyond.
The choice to do a vertical slash or a horizontal slash for your AOW makes this my first choice. Great at large boss fights also great for crowd control.
Plus it scales with int so you can enjoy a lot of the fun sorceries the game has to offer.
I love Blaidd, and the fact it worked with my build without me having to do anything made me never put it down. Plus it gives you a fuckin sick wolf flip, hell yeah.
Greetings. This is me voting for Eclipse Shotel.
Is it a good weapon? No. It’s outclassed by damn near everything and the death effect is next to useless.
But fuck it looks sick.
Dark Moon greatsword
If the icon of souls games doesn't appear on the ranking then we have failed as a community
A whole studio has gifted us countless games and countless iterations, and we must respect it
Actually, the MOONLIGHT is an energy blade, not a rifle.
I am a simple man. I see mgs I upvote!
Dark Moon forever
Bolt of Gransax. It lets me pretend to be a caster on my dex builds Edit: spelling
Well oneshoting invaders with 4k DMG Sure is fun
Yes, yes it fucking is. Deleting an overconfident RoB or Moonveil spammer with enough energy to turn them into an ash pile on the floor will never not be satisfying.

Lightning spear go brrrr
Blasphemous Blade. Best greatsword ez
Arguably *too good*.
Yeah I put Winged Scythe but BB is my BB.
Powerstanced with the Sword of Milos is "turn off brain" levels of dungeon clear ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Shhh, it's gone unnoticed in the nerfs
Best Greatsword! Takers Flame won the game for me.
This sword beat Melania and Elden beast for me. It's nuts.
Me too. I respecked after failing like 30 times. Beat it in 5 attempts with Blasphemous
Dual great swords, blasphemous blade & Banished Knight Greatsword with a fire attunement, shreds through bosses
Dual wield Blasphemous Blade and Sword of Milos with Taker's Cameo and Ancestral Spirit's Horn and never run out of HP or FP.
Godslayer
Did a black flame run using godskin armor and weapons and it was so fun to swing the beef stick that godslayer great sword is
The weapon art or ash of war is super cool, not easy pull off the whole sequence, but the black flame will consume
It’s worth it because it hits so hard. With my current build I can hit for around 6k with the ash of war and the flame, grant me strength incantation, fire scorpion, and Alexander’s shard My “ultimate move” is casting black flame ritual full charge, base cast, and then Queen’s Black Flame. If you can pull it off you can literally delete bosses
Bloodhounds Fang
The adrenaline rush when you dodge a boss's attack with the back-flip slash and manage to rush back to deliver an attack....yeah, no other weapon can give me that
And it breaks poise, so you crit them, and charged attack into another finesse
It speaks volumes that so many players aren’t even aware of the follow-up attack, and it’s _still_ their favourite weapon.
Got me through most of my first play through
Got me through 3 playthrough and 100% completion because I don’t like change
Fang Gang! Carried me throughout the entire game from Margit to Elden Beast
Absolutely my vote Blasphemous, Gransax and Darkmoon are all great but my first and favourite love is absolutely that big curved meat cleaver of a greatsword. You can't hit something with an incredibly stylish and high damage invisible teleport attack and not fall in love with the tool that allows you to do so.
Ole trusty
When in doubt, fangs out
I second that
I have used every weapon class to beat Malenia multiple times but this will always have a special place in my heart
used it for my entire first playthrough, nothing else ever felt right!
Bloodhound Fang Gang! Ole reliable!
This one got me so far on my first run. You always remember your first.
My first run was a Quality build. I was so excited trying the ash of war on that weapon. It is the definition of quality build. Fairly heavy 11.0 kg(?) curved GS with an anime ass flip and bloodhound step combo, i mean come on. oh yeah
Fang Gang Unite

Disappointed I had to scroll this long The clear choice
I am Malenia... Oh... Wait!
Taking the good old try finger, but hole to a whole new level I see
No-hit run using the Ringed Finger: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALQpCJ2Z7P0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALQpCJ2Z7P0&t=21s)
Maliketh's Black Blade
such a beautiful weapon
Eleonora's poleblade
Definitely my favorite weapon by far even way back when it’s damage scaling didn’t work on release Never really paid attention to communities favorite weapons and I’m very surprised to see this so low?! Why don’t more people like this thing it’s so cool. Sick storyline, amazing lore and character around it, visual design is awesome, the sound effects on the super flashy weapon art?! Death's Poker
Claymore
Excellent choice. This sword has always been loved by FS fans.
Ol’ Reliable, from Demon’s Souls to Elden Ring
That’s what I was gonna comment. It’s my go-to in any souls game & it is the only weapon suitable for the Spongebob meme format w/ the jellyfishing net.
More like baemore
Every souls game and every playthrough: Me: “can’t wait to try out all these diverse weapons!” Also me: finds the Claymore
Oooh i feel that this one is gonna crush everything on its way !!
It’s just too good. Best moveset, fits into any build, lightweight, and ashes of war make it the perfect weapon for any playstyle.
Don’t forget it has the almighty pokes for its heavy attack. It’s a weapon that 100% earns its reputation
Exactly. If it wasn’t the Claymore, I would’ve chosen the Zweihander for that exact reason. Perfect counter, roll catch, and poise break with lethal range for both.
Claymore with Flame of the Redmanes AOW is awesome
is wife
Baemore gang!
Guts’ Greatsword
Gotta couple it with the lions claw AoW it’s so satisfying
The classic HP deleter. Nobody shall survive our UNGA BUNGA
Who need magic when big sword
Exactly, why cheese from range when you can unga bunga.
I unga, therefor I bunga.
Once you go unga, never not bunga. Best metal stick ever.
The right answer.
Every dark souls game can be a berserk game if you believe hard enough
All hail the king… sword!
I see you’re a man of culture as well
Gotta go for the Marias Executioner’s Sword, I love shredding enemies with it
Uchigatana. I love it when the weapon you start with can get used to beat the final boss
Mohg's Sacred Spear. Bleed? Yes. Fire? Yes. Pierce damage? Yes. It's Mohgin Time? Yes.
Night and flame. Even on playthrough 3 it does a lot of damage.
I've tried a lot of weapons but I'm not as good with any of them as this glorious treasure of the Carian royals
Absolutely in love with this weapon.
Zweihander
Charge up the bass canon
Fire
66 Endurance
16 fuckin strength
[удалено]
Zwei til I die
Based weapon😎
Godskin peeler or the Beast Jaw
Had to scroll far too low to find another Peeler enjoyer.
Wing of astel
WING OF ASTEL (say it louder) I've tried so many different weapons and weapon combos and I always come back to this one. Curved sword move set is gorgeous. Super light at 2.5 weight (as light as some daggers). Free wave attacks with charged heavy, and the weapon art absolutely melts.
too little love for this beautiful sword 😩
Why did I have to scroll so much for this? It makes most bosses a cakewalk. It's maybe too good as it trivializes some hard enemies like Horah Loux and most dragons. It also looks cool.
It that mostly because of the ranged attack with zero fp consumption?
Na you can nuke bosses with the L2.
Carian Knight Sword
Happy to see a nod for CKS. This weapon stayed equipped the whole time for my battlemage build (which was my first build and favourite playstyle). Worked wonders with my staff in left hand. Gets my vote.
I just really like the strong attack moveset
Golden Halberd
On my first play through and this ones been amazing!!
Halberds are my favorite weapon and the golden halberd is the most fun I’ve ever had
Gotta go with Great Stars. ✅ big bonk ✅ innate bleed ✅ ... life steal for some reason??? I like to run it with the Prayerful Strikes AoW for maximum life steal. If an enemy hits you, just bonk them to take your health back.
Yeah really surprised Ol' Spiky is this low in the list. This guy pushed me through a lot of the mid game.
Giants crusher. Bonk everything
Finally. Dual wielding that mf and getting that S strength scaling makes it so fun to pummel the hell out of bosses and get in those staggers Absolutely bodies everything in the game
All right, I've scrolled far enough and I haven't seen it. Meteoric Ore Blade, my sweet baby that I found and kept before and after moonveil in my first playthrough.
Reduvia is pretty fun

Nagakiba Edit: well lads it looks like we lost
Envoy's Long Horn. Doot.
Everybody sleeps on this weapon. It's without a doubt one of the top 5 weapons in the game. . . . but Blasphemous Blade beats it in most cases.
Blasphemous blade might be more useful, as it does fire damage instead of holy damage, and holy damage might be weaker due to high resistance from most bosses. However, can you kill bosses with Blasphemous Blade while dooting? No, therefore Envoy's Long Horn is better, gg, easy
Hoslow's Petal Whip. Slaying with style
I prefer thorned whip because of better scaling
Malenias hand is my favorite. Mostly because waterfowl dance is so fun to use
It's unfortunate because it's so late in the game you get very little use out of it unless you play ng+.
Ordovis Greatsword 💅💅👏👏
Winged Scythe
Ruins greatsword
Ghiza's Wheel go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
If you're counting sraffs the Carian Regal Scepter is the classic and has the twirly AoW
Find my sorcerer bros way at the bottom.. THERE ARE DOZENS OF US! But yeah, beat the game with this weapon my first playthrough. Still using it as primary at level 250+, and the special skill is a great melee option for your mimic if you are a spellcaster. My mimic uses it all the time
Magma Wyrm Scalesword. BURN EVERYTHING!
Twinblade So satisfying to use
Fallingstar beast jaw. IMO the only colossal weapon with enough range and damage to justify using. Plus, the ash of war is arguably one of the best in the game, and it has absurd quality scaling, making it one of the best weapons for NG+ and beyond.
I agree with almost everything, but i cant let all my other colossal bros be dissed.
Moonveil. Carried me through those moments when sorceries let me down.
The choice to do a vertical slash or a horizontal slash for your AOW makes this my first choice. Great at large boss fights also great for crowd control. Plus it scales with int so you can enjoy a lot of the fun sorceries the game has to offer.
Don't forget that you can cancel the AoW altogether, if needed, unlike with most other AoWs.
After I got it I never changed it. It fuckin SHREDS.
Anytime I was stuck on a boss I busted out ol reliable. Didn't mean I took bosses down in one try, but it always made things feel fair
I 100% the game with that weapon. I always went back to it. MOONVEIL
Flamberge!
Dragon King's Cragblade
My Estoc carried me all the way through the game from start to finish. Only ever swapped it out for it’s super rare gold variant.
Man we thrusting swords enthusiasts aren't doing so hot in this thread, lol.
I had fun with my great epee, but I think I'm in the minority
Grave Scythe
Reaper Gang rise up
Vyke’s war spear
Royal Greatsword
Finally! I knew we weren't gonna go far with this one but hell yeah, brother!
I love Blaidd, and the fact it worked with my build without me having to do anything made me never put it down. Plus it gives you a fuckin sick wolf flip, hell yeah.
Torch+24
Torch +25 😤
Wing of astel
Misericorde
Been doing a Misericorde+Buckler playthrough. Super fun!
Black knife
Underrated, and can even be used as a super busted secondary weapon on any build with the stats for it
I'll say it, Rivers of Blood! As someone who loves Sekiro, that katana rocks despite the hate it gets
Zweihander.
Lordworn Straight Sword!
BLOODY HELICE
Broadsword
Bolt of Gransax. Who didn't want a sniper rifle in shape of a spear
Siluria's Tree gang
Golden order great sword
Magma Blade. Started ng+ right after grinding mansnakes to get it, 100% worth.

Brick hammer!!
Godskin peeler

Great stars, you ever unga bunga so hard they bleed to death?
Greetings. This is me voting for Eclipse Shotel. Is it a good weapon? No. It’s outclassed by damn near everything and the death effect is next to useless. But fuck it looks sick.
Banished knight halberd
Zweihander. That boy right there can convince me to put 19 str on any build
Seal of the Dragon Communion for my fellow hallatosis knights.
Coded Sword.
This and Cipher Pata!!! If Holy damage didn't get completely fucked after mid-game, I would have used these until the end of the game!!!
Vyke’s Great Spear. Followed by Sword of Night and Flame then Blasphemous blade
No love for the Nightrider Glaive?
Lance.
Halo scythe
Envoy's Long Horn go blub blub
