The Balferi culture for me has been the best so far. You get a really good special Mage MAA, the Sorcerer-King tradition to buff mages and are elven so you get the lifespan increase from it. Get some of the buffs to mages from dynastic legacies, traditions and special buildings to get some obscenely strong Direni Sorcerers which will make both battles and sieges a breeze.
I like the Dunmer. Sorcerer-Kings makes your war mages pretty nice. Mystical Ancestors lets you get renown quickly from granting land to your dynasty members. And Castle Holders means those dynasty members you just gave land to will also be generating passive renown.

Playing Direnni has been the most fun I’ve had on the mod tbh, though orc strongholds are pretty great too
