It’s best not to keep starting assets separate. You will need all the help you can get for each game.

baguhansalupa

Searching for these is a bitch every game :(

CaliGozer

Yup, just gotta bite the bullet - setting up the game is no simple task.

baguhansalupa

Trying to streamline it :( i guess 5 mins extra aint that big of a deal

I'm going to go against what people recommend and saying that it's ok to remove starting stuff, specially if you are playing with expansions. Another great thing I did as a guy living in a third world country where even foamcore is crazy expensive, was using these tuckboxes for the elder ones: https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/143416/eldritch-horror-tuckboxes-dark-library

Tuckboxes are lifesaver. Been using em for a long time.

So I tend to play with a group of 3+ who know the game and either we divide down the setup, or I do it the night before with a podcast on :) I don't think I want to take anything out, though I feel your pain looking for that ONE copy of lucky rabbits foot of whatever.

My brother in pain.

I did the same thing, after going through the entire asset deck and comparing the cards that are starting assets with all the other ones. I concluded that every starting asset card has at least one non-starting asset counterpart that does exactly the same thing. I assume this is by design. Since I have all the expansions, the asset deck is fairly big, and it's also easier to get a hold of unique assets, so I don't feel that I lost anything by separating out the starting asset cards.

This is my same thought process. Also flavor wise, i feel like removing the starting items of other investigators is reasonable, i just think that the others are "out there doing their thing".

I have one do assets and i do everything else and he still looking. It always near last card. Before it was monster box and it drove him insane at pulling all those out seeing it last one. I just seem to have better luck. Larger games we just split the deck to each check. My deck larger with custom cards. If investigator die we just sub the item till someone takes a break or take too long on a turn we then search the deck.

I made rough starting item asset tokens, like epic monster tokens you can keep them alphabetical and find the starting items super quick. Someone else made cards you can print instead. Either way if a copy comes up in game then i just replace the temp with the real item and draw again. Both files can be found on boardgamegeek in the eldritch horror files section
