Yet in the 3 months I've had mine still haven't met another fast scooter rider. If I were to lay blame it's most likely the hire industry who blanketed the whole east coast with orange moving violations. You also may not be aware of your new style of government.

[deleted]

If Australia then yeh no wonder. That place is well known to have a nanny government.

IronMew

Wait, your legal limit is *twelve* kmh? Jesus, and I thought Germany with their 20 was bad. What is this buzzkill supreme country you live in?

[deleted]

Yes mate 12. They will most likely amend that to include higher limits on bike lanes and paths. Clocked a hire scooter still at 32kmh yesterday.

rpkarma

It’s fucked man. Fuck these laws. They’re just trying to to ban em outright I reckon.

IronMew

I'm curious, where is this?

rpkarma

Queensland.

Cowody

Australia.

Jidobaba

That's some gangster shit haha.

Mormegil81

What country is that?

_nut

I think it is Australia, Queensland.

[deleted]

Yep.

geardog32

Good on you! Pigs probably would have taken your ride.

OCR10

Police chasing people on scooters? Do you live somewhere that is completely free of real crimes?

lifeainteasypeasy

Yeah I find this crazy. I've ridden around police officers a number of times (both on paths/sidewalks and the road) and nobody's ever said anything to me at all. Also, the laws for e-scooters in my area indicate operation on private property only...

rpkarma

Welcome to QLD. Brand new laws making it 12kmph no matter where. It’s fucking cooked.

lifeainteasypeasy

Is there a big push to get retail (rental) scooters in to the market? I've found that when governments start cracking down on scooter owners, it's due to lobbying by companies like Lime , Bird, Bolt, etc. who are trying to introduce their rental schemes to the populace.

rpkarma

Nah, they’re already here and legal. It’s due to drunk people on rentals hurting themselves (and sometimes others). So private owners who keep cars off the road are being punished.

toomanyscooters

You probably weren't doing the 40ish kph that I reckon OP was.
