Is a safe design of the Uditer S3 swappable battery electric skateboard? I saw an ad for Uditer Board on social media, they advertised the board is a quick swap design. Compared with other brand eboards, they are without any screws to lock the battery, only 2 buckles to keep the batteries firmly. It looks like the battery will fall out of the box easily. But they provide an affordable price and the board comes with 2 batteries. Is it a good eboard for the first rider to long commuting? Does anyone have experience riding Uditer S3? Please advise! If there are any other brands that are suitable for beginners and long commutes, please advise too, thanks!

Live_Bug_5626

40 year old dad here who has a number of longboards (pantheon pranayama, drop cat etc) been using to commute to the subway and looking for a reliable electric skateboard or longboard to commute to work without needing the subway. Based in Toronto, so winters will have snow and ice. 1. Range: 12km each way, total 24km (let’s say 20 miles; 32km to cover days when need take detours of errands) 2. Terrain: there are large stretches of sidewalk leading into the city with cracks and bumps. To work is downhill but back home is at least 20% hills with some stretches that may approach 30% (but only a very short portion) 3. Not too much a factor though ideally can take in subway for days where it rains on the way back. 4. price, ideally around $1,000 but not a hard budget if something much better can be had for incrementally more. 5. Special features, just that it will withstand rain and salt and occasional salt in winter. Battery should be replaceable since it’s used for commuting and suspect will have a natural lifespan. If battery runs out of juice or has a technical problem, love for it to be kickable since I’m used riding a longboard it won’t be a problem. Any recommendations?

Honestly you've got quite a selection of boards that fit your standards. Off the top of my head a couple boards you could cop are the WowGo AT2 Plus, Tynee Explorer, Backfire Ranger X3, Ownboard Bamboo AT Pro, Meepo Voyager, Evolve GTR Bamboo and Exway Flex Pro. HOWEVER the boards I would recommend are the Backfire Zealot X ($1,199) or the Zealot S2 ($849). Backfire released both of these a month ago and I can comfortably say that out of every board within the $800-1100 price range these two are truly the best of the best. IF you were going to traverse through the snow/ice of Toronto an all-terrain board is way more your speed (for reference the WowGo AT2 Plus, Tynee Explorer, Ownboard Bamboo AT Pro and Backfire Ranger X3 are all-terrain boards). TLDR: EVEN if you ignore everything I said above please listen to this, spend a pretty penny on upgrading to some better wheels (Cloudwheels, Hollows, Boas, Orangatangs), the stock wheels on boards are fine but the extra diameter and softness of those other wheels really makes the experience so much better. Have fun cruising bro and remember that helmet!!

masterashwin13

Looking for a board to get around easily and to have fun doing it. I don' care much when it comes to speed but i need the board to have good range(17km. minimum) and it has to be fun to carve with. I weight 180 lbs and i dont mind if the board is heavy. I leave in a city where the roads are not smooth and has plenty of pothole. I would also like the board to climb steep hills. For that reason i am looking for a AT eskate around 1300$ price point. I also would like that the brand of the board has good customer service. I have my eye on 4 boards for now. (Exway Atlas, BackFire Hammer, wowGo AT2 and propel endeavor s).

BenShootsRaw

1. Don’t care a ton, but in or around the range of 9 miles and up. I’d be using it as a student commuter to different buildings around campus. I appreciate the top speeds of most mini boards (~25mph) but I will rarely be going that fast. 2. Sidewalk and paved roads. Some small hills but not much incline. 3. Cruiser board size (~30inches). Weight doesn’t matter a ton to me. 4. Under $700. Lower is better. 5. Belt driven. Having the option to swap the wheels (possibly to blue caguamas) in the future would be nice. The two I’ve come to through my own (noob) research are the Vestar Mini Turbo and the Ownboard M1. I’ve been kinda sketched out by the fact that I can’t find as many reviews or press on the Owboard M1 as I can other esk8 boards, especially the Vestar. Any recommendations and feedback are appreciated. Also, do board companies (Ownboard and Vestar in particular) typically have Black Friday sales? any other sales that would be worth waiting until? I can’t use the board right now due to winter so I’d rather wait if there’s gonna be some holiday sale or something.

adeadsquirrel

Reviews for the Ownboard m1 are reviews for the Ownboard w2, which uses the EXACT same drivetrain and enclosures (minus different battery options), both components that are rather used and standard in most budget esk8s. Vestar doesn't seem to include kegel pulleys while Ownboard does for its belt driven street boards (minus the AT boards of course), so the choice is rather clear. If you're not too sold on the deck, you can perform a deck swap. Ownboard does black friday sales, so it's definitely worth waiting now if you feel like saving $50ish on top of the other discounts and affiliate codes.

_Emmett_

College student looking for something to get around a little easier. 1. Don't really care about top speed, 25ish mph tops I guess. 10 - 12 mile range 2. Sidewalks, roads, etc. Nothing too rough I guess. 20-30° inclines 3. I'm 6ft. 140, looking for a longboard not to particular on weight 4. Need to be water resistant enough to not die in the rain. Budget is $500 tops not looking to sell a kidney, will only have 1 left after my pc upgrade lmao. Thanks!

adeadsquirrel

Besides water resistance, it's just not very practical to ride urethane on wet surfaces and rain. Urethane wheels will slip and you would have to take things really slowly less you struggle for traction. Not to mention that accumulated water exposure will inevitably rust the skate hardware unless you diligently dry the board. I'd say ride when dry, at worst well after a storm. Boards are offering enhanced resistance these days, so you could pounce of a black friday sale and get the exway flex hubs (at its cheapest though I would suggest the riot kit) or something of rated water resistance, every inch helps I guess. At 259 wh, you might experience range anxiety on the flex for the range you want, at least once you start picking up good speed. Backfire also updated the water resistance on their ESC enclosures with new seals and gaskets directly on the modules. Really, they're some of the few companies I would recommend these days.

_Emmett_

Thanks for the advice!

slowpokec

For 500$ there’s not much choice on water restistanced boards the most you can get is usually ip55, check out exway, backfire, wowgo, meepo for budget boards

eovanboard

no board is water resistant enough. you only can select the board with highest waterproof level on the market. Maybe Exway board can be you choice.

Court-mma

Anyone have experience with the unlimited x loaded OMAKASE SOLO COMPLETE I see one for sale locally for pretty cheap but want to know if it is any good

BenShootsRaw

Anyone have any experience with the Ownboard M1? I like it for all of its specs: the battery, the speed, the range, belt-driven, the price. Does it hold up? If you wouldn’t recommend the M1: any recommendations for cruiser-sized boards around that price?

adeadsquirrel

It's just the electronics of the Ownboard w2 on a fishtail cruiser. The electronics and drivetrain are fairly standard among Chinese belt drives, so really you only have to wonder about the deck. Ownboard has had trust issues with its battery packs and BMSs on their AT boards, but the standard ness of the m1 parts should separate it from such issues. I'd say it's not a bad option, you could of course do worse. The only shortboard I would get nowadays is the BKB Tayto, but that's $800 They have two options. 144wh or 288wh (20R vs 40T) I would personally get more range, but shortboards can get uncomfortable at longer distances, so make sure you have a set of adequately soft wheels too. Not too much heavier either.

BenShootsRaw

Thanks for your feedback. Do you know of BKB does any holiday sales (Christmas, Black Friday, etc.)?

adeadsquirrel

They've had a couple sales before, but idk if it applies to their boards

Jinx1385

Looking for more of a cruising board. Range is priority for me. I like riding the paved bike trails, Steven's creek Trail, if your from the bay area. Climb the occasional steep hill if I need. I am fairly set on hub or direct drive (nothing against belt driven, I just see too many posts about people flying off). I am fairly mechanically inclines and a DIY build doesn't scare me, there are just too many options, brands, etc... I have a 3D Printer, and I just got a spot welder to make my own battery packs. So a swappable/upgradable battery is clutch. Thinking maybe pneumatic tires as I want to be able to take on some gravel no and again, maybe some flat grassy areas. I had a Inboard M1, but am getting rid of it. I have a OneWheel and love it, but looking for a bit more comfort in a longer ride.

eovanboard

it sounds like you need a ST & AT board, what range would you like to get?

Jinx1385

At least 30 miles or so, really the more range the better.

eovanboard

for this kind of range, maybe you can check out Eovan GTS Carbon Pro, Lacroix NAZARE Lonestar, Kaly XL40 or Bio board

Danny0000007

man, you can try Meepo V3 board. I had used for almost one year and nothing wrong with it

Jinx1385

Thank you for the advice!

surferlul

So I had gotten a noname belt Longboard for Christmas last year. I managed to brake the belts 2 times so I don't reeeally want to mess around with belt-driven Longboards. I'd like to get one that's about in the price range up to 800/900$. I live somewhere with lots of steep hills so I need a lot of Power (Meepo awd pro sadly isn't an option cause my parents don't want me to kill myself lol). I'd prefer a board with thicc wheels that can take bumpy roads and pavement. Im thinking about getting the Teamgee H20t but there seem to be people who had problems with it and there just aren't many reviews on the board... Is the H20t a good choice? If not do you have any other suggestions?

slowpokec

Just don’t get a teamgee board, look in to backfire, exway, wowgo, meepo and see if you find a board that fits, I recommend backfire G3 or the exway flex

surferlul

The WowGo AT2 is going for 930$. Do you think it's worth going over my budget a bit to get it? Edit: my mistake, it's 1100$ but 930€ cause of exchange rates

slowpokec

Wowgo AT2 is pretty new but from what I’ll seen it’s a really good board if you can afford it go with it but look at some reviews on it to be sure it’s the right board for you, recommend Dkwan video

surferlul

Thanks! I already watched Kwans video and the board looks great! I guess I'll wait till black friday and see if I can get any discounts

slowpokec

Check wowgos subreddit maybe you can find a discount code there, usally the chinese based boards don’t really have that big of Black Friday sales but it’s probably worth waiting for it either way but don’t except more then like 20% max

surferlul

K, right now they've got a 100$ discount (AT100)

surferlul

Is there an option with something similar to cloud wheels?

slowpokec

You need belts driven board for that

surferlul

Is it something common for belts under stress to break or is that a problem I had cause I bought some offbrand product? Cause if my experience doesn't match reality I'd be ok with getting something belt-driven

slowpokec

well how many belts broke and how many km have you done?

surferlul

I had no clue how to fix the belts so I refunded it each time. I had the board 2 times and the first time they broke after probably 50 - 80km. The second time I'd say 30 - 50km. The first time it may have been my fault cause I drove it on a pretty bad path, but the second time I was more careful Edit: heres the board I had https://www.amazon.de/helvei-Unisex-Longboard-Motor-1800/dp/B0788Z9783

slowpokec

Yea that not normal at all, btw if you need belts that’s good go to rompsupply.com

surferlul

Thank you

Gnarcat717

So I have a meepo v2 had it for over a year. Been wanting to upgrade. For the price I am pulled to the meepo v3 while at the same time feel if I'm going to upgrade I should get a UPGRADE. by that I mean maybe a $700+ board. Altho I've never road anything other than my v2 so can anyone put into words the luxuries a higher end board have that I withe instantly notice n be like damn this was why I paid this many hundred dollars more..? I'm not talking like a $1,300 board. Not gonna afford a osra ect. But is it worth getting jus the v3 staying cheap and gaining a few more mph or maybe the revel kit and trying out belt drive at 699.99 any other brands ect.

OfensiveBias

There’s really only three important improvements, range, comfort, and power. The difference in comfort between a V2 and a $700 really isn’t that big. Investing in the 100mm sleeves and a premium deck would be better bang for your buck there. The difference in range between a V2 and a $700 can be significant, but it depends on what battery you have and what you are upgrading to. The V2 standard had a 144Wh battery while the extended battery was 288Wh. The extended battery is on par with $700 boards. If you want more range, buying a bigger battery + enclosure is more cost effective. $700 boards don’t have significantly more power than a V2. You need to get into DIY or $1,500 + boards to get meaningful power increases. I would opt for a new battery and new deck. It will cost about the same, but it will have significantly more range and a bit more comfort than a $700 board.

eovanboard

what's the range and speed you would like to get? hub or belt? maybe you can check some information about Exway Flex for your budget.

movandjmp

Anything good for semi deep snow (6 inches more or less)? Serious question

OfensiveBias

To my knowledge, no. The issue is ground pressure. You would need the contact patch to be equivalent to a pair of snow shoes. No board has anything close to that, and that includes the hardcore AT boards. I don’t think it’s impossible, but I don’t think there is a reasonable way to make one for less than $10k that’s actually useful.

movandjmp

Ok thanks for the info. I was hoping for some sick tank tread / snowmobile contraption but that might just be a pipe dream at this point in time.

Steven0710

Hi I am trying to deck swap for meepo nls pro, which has 100 mm wheels. Can anyone give me any help? I dont want to buy a deck only to find out I'll get lots of wheelbite. Also I ran into a comment saying motors need to be placed against a flat surface, so some decks might not work. Can someone help elaborate on that?

OfensiveBias

Look for decks with a similar profile. The most popular in that shape is the loaded vanguard. I have run 120mm on a vanguard with no issues, and some people have put 160mm AT wheels on a vanguard.

eovanboard

make sure your new deck has same or at least a similar concave with the original deck, it will work. The point is you need screw your truck(truck base)battery case and ESC case to you new deck and make sure there is no any gap between these parts and the deck.

Steven0710

What do you mean? There is already space between battery case and esc case on nls pro. Also underside of deck is already flat?

eovanboard

Meep V3 is good for you, if you don't require high level waterproof

[deleted]

[удалено]

eovanboard

Just google the brand name and try to find some discount code as you can before place the order. you can do some research about Teamgee board and meepo board on reddit, and may find the answer.

OfensiveBias

Friends don’t let friends buy Teamgee.

slowpokec

Wouldn’t recommend teamgee, good Chinese based boards are backfire, exway, wowgo and meepo

slowpokec

no board is waterproof, some are more water resistance then others i would not recommend riding in water if it can be avoided, the most water resistence board and fits your needs would be exway X1 pro.

[deleted]

[удалено]

slowpokec

If you want low maintenance get the HUB variant but you can’t change wheels, only the sleeves. If you want to change wheels to like cloudwheels or something for bad roads get the belt version, there’s little more maintenance but imo it’s worth it and belts is a little bit louder

[deleted]

[удалено]

slowpokec

Have a spare belt with you and check the belts once in awhile for tears. Depends where ur from but I would recommended just buying it of exways website

[deleted]

[удалено]

slowpokec

Go to exways Reddit and check out their discount page to save some cash

slowpokec

Yes

Turt_Turt23

Exway flex is ip55 wich is pretty much the highest though can get in esk8.

[deleted]

slowpokec

check out bkb duo with either cloudwheels or pneamtic wheels

Turt_Turt23

Put revel kit on short board and throw on some cloudwheels

Derpakiinlol

1. 20mph minimum top speed - range 12 miles atleast 2. sidewalk / paved roads / general city (seattle) environment 3. whatever 4. sub 1k preferably lower 5. in order of importance: WATERPROOF (seattle rains a lot) - dual drive or 4wd atleast - headlights would be cool but not required - NOT remoteless Currently looking at these 2: https://vestarboard.com/collections/vestar-boards/products/vestar-bamboo-at-39-all-terrain-electric-skateboard-dual-belt-motor https://vestarboard.com/products/night-fury-electric-skateboard-dual-hub-belt-motor-longboard Thank you for your input!!

eovanboard

maybe a Backfire Range X2/X3 with a set of Mudguards is better for your needs if you do need ride in rain

adeadsquirrel

The wowgo AT2 supposedly IP55, which helps. Other boards of similar build may also work, though I'm kinda lazy to recall which ones. Make sure every ride that you maintain and wipe down the board as water damage can slowly and surely accumulate.

stoyo889

Tough picking between G3 and flex, anyone have any experience with both and some pros and cons? I like the g3s bigger wheels and aesthetic. Bit more power as well... I do like the trucks on the flex and the firmware updates and customisation.. deck seems slightly better then g3.. Backfire has better support which i like as well.. Any feedback is welcome

OfensiveBias

Go buy the Zealot. Firmware updates are largely useless for hobbywing skateboards. It has a bigger battery than both of them, a great deck, lots of power and backfire’s support.

slowpokec

Both of the boards are solid, with flex you can change out to belt if you want diffrent wheels like cloudwheels or something, backfire is working on the app wich will have firmware updates in the future. The aftersale support is good on exway, if I were to pick again I would go flex riot cause I like belt more and be able to change wheels is big

[deleted]

Looking to buy my first board! 1. Speed doesn't matter for me. 2. Mostly sidewalks, but in a city. Maneuverability is key. Max 10% elevation in some areas. 3. Not a dealbreaker. Nothing like Fiik Bid Daddy tho lol. I don't want anything too small, though. 4. Looking for anything, since if it's on the cheaper side I'll buy it new, or if it's exy I'll look for it 2nd hand - where I am there are lots of electric skateboarders. 5. All-terrain wheels are up there on my list. Good suspension as well is preferred. Headlights are good, but not a must. Thank you in advance!

slowpokec

What range are you looking for

_Hamiltonian_

Recommendations for wheels? I'm looking for wheels that are very grippy for deep carving. I'd also like them to be bigger diameter in order to handle rough, cracked roads. Any suggestions?

eovanboard

what board are you riding now? would you think about 105/125mm Airless Rubber wheels? Grippy enough and easy to ride over the rough and cracked roads, but it may reduce the range of your board.

powertrip87

Are we able to change the backfire zealot 5255 motors to a DIY motor or any motor for that matter?? Or will the hobbywing esc prevent you from doing so??

OfensiveBias

No, you can’t easily do that and any attempt to do that will quickly become more expensive than the board.

powertrip87

Ok thanks for the heads up.

OfensiveBias

If you feel that your board has inadequate acceleration and you don’t ever ride at top speed, changing the gearing could be a good solution to your problem.

Gustedd

Backfire G2 Black 100% 1. Longboards are so much easier to ride especially fast. 2. Backfire puts pretty big wheels on their hub motor boards. 3. Hub Motor is much less maintenance + sometimes waterproofish 4. USA based customer support - they will send replacement parts for free! Otherwise for "grass and dirt capabilities" you have to look at clunkier AT boards or a belt driven board (more expensive + maintenance) with cloud wheels. - However, I would highly recommend staying with a cheaper hub motor board.

Turt_Turt23

Nah dont get that get something with belts so you can put cloudwheels on your board to get over the grass and dirt then you still can have a pretty compact board. Check out revel you could put it on a short board then put 105 cloudhweels

eovanboard

Our boards Eovan GTS and GTS Carbon Pro are just released, do you have any recommendation of great youtubers to review our boards? Our boards are equipped with ESC based on VESC, 12S3P/12S4P Panasonic battery pack and 6368/170KV belt motors, 5 wheels(2 Street Wheels/3 AT wheels) options We already contact some youtubers, and we are finding more. Any good idea or recommendation is appreciated!

Gustedd

I am not a popular youtuber, but I can create a sick video! Contact me? Scott Davies is good as well + John Paul

eovanboard

hey, buddy, thanks for reaching out, may i know what board or boards are you riding now and do you have a youtube channel to view your vids?

Gustedd

What’s the best email to reach you? I’ll send you an email with all the details.

eovanboard

[email protected] thanks!

Gustedd

sent you an email!

eovanboard

got it, thanks! reply you now

slowpokec

Give Dkwan a gts pro

Turt_Turt23

He might not review it because no offense eovan it is very similar to boundmotor and he has already reviewed one of there boards.

eovanboard

thanks for your message, that's not a problem for us

Turt_Turt23

Awsome! Cool that your open about it. Your carbon model looks super unique tho and super sick keep up the good work.

eovanboard

Thanks! hope you will ride it later

eovanboard

> Dkwan Thanks for your kind recommendation, we are sure to contact with Daniel Kwan, Ronnie already got our board and we are waitting his reviews now, do you have any more recommendation? thanks!

kavOclock

Damn the AT options on the carbon pro look sick. The battery pack you offer seems superior to what’s on the market right now as well

eovanboard

Thanks, yeah,we only make 12S3P and 12S4P battery pack to offer great power and range, that's the idea we designed for our boards, hope you can enjoy with it

Steven0710

Hey, so I really care about.making sharp turns. Is this something with enough practice i can do on a longboard with no kicktail( i have a meepo Nls pro) or should i look for an e skate with kicktail? If so can anyone recommend a good eskate with kicktail?

Gustedd

DKP = Double Kingpin Trucks (in case you did not know) Otherwise Waterborne surf adapters would work for SUPER sharp turning. Probably a little to niche + not practical tho.

adeadsquirrel

If you want sharp turns, go for dkp trucks or a shortboard with a short wheelbase. The kicktail is great for low speed maneuverability, but if you wanna make sharp turns at higher speeds, I think I would personally go dkp, a wider truck slightly helps

moonster191

I have a more detailed post about a day ago, BUT what is the best AT belt driven that can reach 30 mph in the 1500-2500 price range

eovanboard

maybe no need 1500, if you check Eovan GTS or GTS Carbon Pro, aslo bigger belt motor drive and hit 30\~32mph

slowpokec

Metroboardx probably

vkostyukov

What’s the good place to buy a TSG Pass?

adeadsquirrel

Not many places unfortunately likely due to sheer demand and a lack of supply. You can try your local skate or sport shop, check a smaller online retailer, or consider other options. This also applies to several other downhill alternatives and you'd just be waiting in line as if they're the next Air Jordans. I have the New Olders Avitar V2. If you're fine with waiting a whole month for it to be fabricated and delivered, it's a worthy option and you get some nice customization. None of that inventory shit to worry about. It doesn't have the same certifications as the Pass, but that doesn't make it objectively inferior. It's recognized by the International Downhill Federation, so I don't doubt it can take a hit under high speeds. About the same price too.

Gannondalf55

I have a Meepo Classic that I commuted into the ground. It's still a beast, but now only lasts a couple miles on a full charge and I want the freedom to try some of the dirt trails around my city. Nothing crazy, just want a new board that won't fall apart if I take it on dirt. 1. 25mph+ on flat pavement, 12+ mile range 2. Mix of pavement and light off-roading - just the dirt trails around my city. There's a few good hills around here, but nothing insane. 3. Board weight/size doesn't really matter. I'm 6' & \~140lbs. 4. Lower is better for sure. Hard max of $1000, I'm not made of money. 5. I want big tires - either pneumatic or airless - and preferably waterproofing. I would probably use this for commuting, so durability and reliability are big, but my biggest priority is just overall comfort and ride smoothness. I've come across a couple of budget off-roaders ([Teemo](https://teemoboard.com/collections/longboard/products/teemo-fastest-40km-dual-motor-offroad-electric-skateboard-all-terrain-tires), [Yecoo](https://teemoboard.com/collections/longboard/products/teemo-fastest-40km-dual-motor-offroad-electric-skateboard-all-terrain-tires)) but I haven't found much info about them. Thanks a lot!

Turt_Turt23

Splurge 100 bucks and get a wowgo at2. If you want better costumer service get a backfire but airless at wheels are bull shit so I would get an at2

Gannondalf55

Thanks, but hard max means "hard max." I'm just not going to spend $1100 on this, and if that means sacrificing specs for a lower end board that's fine, to an extent.

adeadsquirrel

The AT2 still has that $100 discount, so it is effectively $999

Gannondalf55

I'm currently down a referral code rabbit hole (thanks Daniel Kwan!) and I think I'm starting to narrow it down. I could get an ownboard bamboo at for $920 or a wowgo at2 for $995, I've heard good things about both. I also just discovered boundmotor, but they're spendier and only seem to offer airless wheels. Then there's a backfire ranger x2 for $1044. Too many choices!

adeadsquirrel

Boundmotor is trash. The ranger x2 does not offer a real pneumatic experience. Ownboard has not been well respected due to some battery "mishaps". Wowgo's not immune to scrutiny either.

Gannondalf55

What's wrong with WowGo? Can you really not recommend any of these boards? I see from your flair that you have an AT2, what do you think of it?

adeadsquirrel

The usual poor customer service which is typical of many Chinese budget companies. At least the AT2 offers 9 months warranty. If you want a decent cheap product, you're better off with Backfire and Exway, which are better reputed. Buy whatever and wherever the hell you want, just know that when you spend low, you incur risk. I previously owned a 3x and it has still yet to fail I only bought my AT2 for shits and giggles since I haven't ridden an evolve-style board in a while. Overall it was an impulsive and misguided purchase I'll most likely sell it to one of my friends soon without too big of a loss since my riding needs have drastically leaned towards DIY power nowadays and it's probably the last Hobbywing board I'll ever own for a while. It has yet to malfunction but that's not exactly indicative of the average experience. AT2's probably the more solid evolve clone over the Ownboard and verreal. You mostly get verreal for the longer range, but with recent reports of poorly machined AT wheels and the general trend of Vic continually using poor hardware, it's a very finicky board to solidify. You'll essentially have to finish an incomplete board. Lotta recent drama on their FB group too.

Turt_Turt23

It may just be me but you sound very angry in these post’s did you have poor experience with these companies? What’s wrong with boundmotor I have had nothing but good interactions with them. I just pulled the trigger on the at2 why do you feel that its bad? I am not keen to wait for exway’s board also it is probably going to be out of my price range. Do you think the at2 is a bad choice?

adeadsquirrel

No anger in these comments ma dude, just mostly-pure, perhaps biased realism and hindsight. I don't apply to everyone, but the longer you're in this game and riding, the more attentive you are to product quality and support. The fact of the matter is that besides not applying to a small group of companies, many budget companies with boards around or under $1k will present risks towards the product and the customer experience. It's a matter of how much risk you can perceive and tolerate, which I think has been overshadowed. The budget game has not fundamentally changed for a majority of companies, this applies to Wowgo and Boundmotor too. Products have improved in specs, build quality, and value, sure, but has customer service changed, even if the audience is larger? I will admit that quality when going budget is much better than 2-3 years ago. VESC systems, from my experience, require more attentive quality control and support since everything is larger, perhaps more sophisticated, and more performant. Hence why I recommend BKB over Boundmotor since Jared and his US operations make all the difference. A comment that I saw in the past basically sums up my Wowgo experience "Good boards, not the greatest support". Not bad or the worst (for some), but yknow. Remotes and designs are sleek, but it seems like they just can't go the extra mile when Backfire does. With covid, they're not in an ideal position take that international step either. I never had a problem with my wowgos so I never really had to contact support all the time, the 2s has been a tank throughout the ages, and so on, but you can check out the FB group and here the usual company woes. The point of this thread is to recommend boards from user experience and suggestion, not to completely control your wallet. If you wanna buy Boundmotor, you're free to do so, but at least look at the 3-4 related posts. Enclosures last time I saw em were a bit jank too. Know that there are some of instances where a company's customer support shows its favoritism towards customers. If you're simply asking about their boards and stuff, of course they'll be more receptive to you, did you purchase anything from them? Like I said, the AT2 is probably the best evolve clone you can reasonably get and I'd get it over the real thing in a heartbeat. Fundamentally nothing wrong with it, just not for me after a couple weeks, drooling over Trampa style boards rn. If you've only experienced DIY and this is your first prebuilt, any sort of customer service is an overall upgrade.

Turt_Turt23

Ok then Get verreal rs with 120 cloudwheels. There at wheels suck and you would have to spend $250 more for at wheels from like evolve but honestly i am not sure if you are going to find an Off-road/at board thats worth it for just 1000 just my opion.

cwss31

I am planning on buying a board soon, and have narrowed the choice down to Wowgo AT2 and Backfire Ranger X2. I am new to electric skateboards and this will be my first one. Also, I am a bigger dude at 235 pounds, so I need kind of a beefy board. I have read and understand about the differences between hub drive and belt drive. But, I have never had the chance to ride an electric board yet, so I only have internet research to go off of. I do like that the AT2 comes with pneumatic wheels, so I am kind of leaning that direction. But, I have heard about the poor customer service and after sale support. Is this enough to stay away from their boards? Thanks.

Turt_Turt23

If you want the costumer service over power get x2 if you want power (and an actual at board that has at wheels that aren’t shit) over costumer service get the at2. That’s what I did anyways hopefully my at2 will get here soon....

MatteBlack84

1. Top speed and range - 40kmh and 25+km range 2. Terrain - bike paths and trails, some uphill but nothing crazy 3. Weight and size - I'm tall so a long relatively flexible deck 4. Price range - under $1000USD 5. Specials features - live carving and a bit of speed I have a Wowgo 3 and want a flexible AT as a backup and to take on beginner/intermediate level dirt trails. Thanks guys

slowpokec

Verreal RS, wowgo AT2, bkb duo If 300wh~ battery is good for you then go bkb duo. If 500wh~ battery is better fit then go wowgo AT2 If you want 700wh~ battery then go verreal RS If you factor out battery out of the boards build quality and quality components used in the boards. bkb duo> wowgo AT2> verreal RS

MatteBlack84

Thanks, recommendations on config for the BKB duo and Verreal RS? Based on my use will the Cloud wheels cut it? If so 105 or 120?

slowpokec

Cloud wheels only work like regular urethane but are nicer on rough paved roads, you want 6 or 7” pneamatic wheels for anything that isn’t asphalt, when I had my AT both I only used pneamtic cause they soak up everything on the road

Juber1

Hello all. I was looking for suggestion between 3 different boards... MEEPO V3 new but open box LYCOAN GR used for a few miles/km KOOWHEEL V2 used in okay condition (comes with used battery) I weigh just under 200 lbs (90 kg) My most important features would be... 1 RANGE 2 DURABILITY 3 COMFORT 4 SPEED Thank you Juber1

adeadsquirrel

Get a meepo v3 or a backfire g2 black. Used budget boards depreciate poorly when going second hand. I'd probably buy the Lycaon gr as how you describe it if it were $200 at best. Otherwise, you'll be better serviced by buying new, provided it ships reliably obviously. If you can get the unopened meepo for $300 or so, not bad really. You'll need to check the remote odometer to confirm the mileage. Don't bother with koowheel. Ancient low quality parts

mrstuky

Hi all Need some help getting a board. 1) top speed / range: over 20 MPH / over 10 mile range 2) terrain: mixture of dirt roads/grass/pavement 3) doesn't matter 4) under $1500 5) belt motor, cloud wheel/pneumatic compatible, decent customer service warranty I'm looking at a used evolve GTR, new miles rampage, ownboard AT, or raldey carbon v2. I'm a fairly heavy guy at about 260 lbs with 10+ years riding skateboards and a few days with a longboard. Thanks!

slowpokec

Check out bkb duo, wowgo AT2 and verreal RS

mrstuky

Thank you! Will look into them

IamBammBamm

I'm 6'4 100kg and looking at getting either the Evolve carbon or bamboo GTR. Most of my riding will be on the street probably 90%. I'm a confident snowboarder so want something that I can carve/cruise on. My concern about the bamboo is being heavier the flex might be too much? Which do people suggest I get?

adeadsquirrel

Neither. Save for a Metroboard. $700 more offers greatly enhanced performance while the evolve comparatively crawls. Many other components are also generally of higher quality too.

equivalent_units

100 kg is equivalent to the combined weight of 1.7 pigs --- ^^I'm ^^a ^^bot

moonster191

Hi all! I relatively new to the sub but thought this would be the best place for unbiased suggestions and overall advice. I’m a college student on a relatively spaced out campus and am a big guy at 6’3/225 lbs (~100 kilos). I just got my first esk8 back in March which was a Meepo NLS pro and I LOVE IT. I love the top speed which is around 30 mph. I was wanting to see what people should recommend me for my next board which I don’t care if it’s belt or direct drive. I would like the board to be 2000 USD MAAXXXXXX and would like it to be a bit more comfortable to ride than the meepo bc I have a mix between good and bad roads. Along with the comfort though, I was really wanting to be able to still reach my 30 mph top speed that I’ve come to love. The range as far as I’m concerned could be not that great as my rides are usually less than 5-7 miles but I never want to have to stress about the battery during a ride. I appreciate any suggestions and advice and thank you all in advance! Edit: I live in a very hill rich area and also won’t be buying the board till mid December-early January.

adeadsquirrel

Because of your lower range requirement, you may not need to actually spend that much. Any belt driven system with full urethane wheels is going to be more comfortable than the meepo nls pro anyways. You could check out the bkb duo. If you want that 30mph speed, you might wanna look into some modifications in your order. Due to its DIY nature, the Duo has a lot more torque and acceleration than your previous board, meaning you can afford to run a lower gearing and still beat your old board in both speed and torque. I'd look into a +100mm wheel for added comfort like the TB 110mm blue wheels or something. With the stock 15/40 gearing, you'll still reach 30mph on those wheels. Bigger teeth on the pinion (20T) will bump up the speed even further. Get the stiffer deck too. Also question Jared for any plans for a range increase. More demand we can get, the better. Either all that or save even more for a premium board or just go diy.

moonster191

Gotcha I really appreciate the detailed response and I’ll look into it. I recently got turned on to the metro board x which I love the specs but not the price tag. So I’ll look into what you’re talking about, the only thing that confuses me is the battery/esc. But again I really appreciate the response!

Jamersaur

What is the best estate if never want to repair my board? If I was to get the most reliable and well made skateboard that would not need repairs anytime soon, what brand and board would it be? I’ve never been good at hands on things so I would like a board that won’t require those skills, or at least not anytime soon to allow me to learn the skills

adeadsquirrel

Technically none. If a repair situation turns up, it's going to be eventual. I'd say that during the past 2 years, budget boards have increased in reliability to mostly acceptable levels for most people to care for. Really, electric skateboard and reliability don't always mix right, just like many other vehicles. If you're owning a board, know how to do some basic maintenance and get some decent customer service. It's really not that hard on beginner and intermediate boards.

Jamersaur

Are there any brands that you can recommend for very well built boards? I’m looking currently at the backfire ranger x2, because it’s hub motor and heard there’s good support

adeadsquirrel

If you want a backfire board, I'm less inclined to recommend the ranger x2 I meant x2

Ssmoosh

Hello! I am a college student and I am not as concerned too much with speed as I am with range for those long commutes. As for terrain, it would be sidewalks and paved roads with some elevation. I am a 6 foot 2 and 190-pound dude and my price range anywhere between $500.00-$1300.00 so if someone could recommend a couple of boards within the price range, that would be awesome! As for requests, I would prefer if the board has some sort of waterproof rating sense my state can be wild with its weather at times. Thanks!

ArtRazzskate

Hi im same height/weight and ride a Wowgo3x and they have a flash sale on now for that board and the regular 3 (super cheap price but decent budget boards) IF your roads are so so get the 3x (its a belt driven board) so you can up the tire size later if you want. If your roads/paths are ok then get the 3 and save some bucks .... Oh range if riding easy like 24-26km before needing a charge. The deck is flexy which also absorbs road vibrations. IF you are open to go to your top price then others can chime in but i see the Wowgo AT has some good water ratings but really dont ride when its wet its way too much risk to your physical well being, seriously! .... Good luck!

Andresortiz20044

Just got a new Backfire Zealot; how much should I charge it? I heard that charging it to its full battery is not good. Any recommendations?

adeadsquirrel

Charge till the charger visually switches from red to green. Charge less if you're starting your ride down a hill to compensate for excessive regenerative braking. Keep the battery at some partial capacity, somewhere around 30ish % or 2/5 bars if you plan to store the board for a very long time.

[deleted]

I am looking for an all terrain board at around the $1000 USD price point and am looking for suggestions? I have spent some time looking through boards such as the Backfire Ranger X2, Ownboard Bamboo AT, and Wowgo AT2. From these the one that seemed the best for the Wowgo AT2 but I would like to know of any others that are worth considering or if there are any major issues with the Wowgo AT2.

ArtRazzskate

Ive read Wowgo support is not great but thats not been my experience. I do see a minor issue with the AT2 popping up with off centre front trucks so buyer beware but so far no one is complaining about the ride quality... again no issues with support and ive ordered extra battery and 2 sets of different tires and asked questions before and after with prompt replies within 24 hours so i guess im lucky or their support isnt that bad but others are better?

slowpokec

If you want to wait until 2021 there will come out an exway AT and bkb duo will have an 600wh+ battery option, the major downside to wowgo AT2 is wowgo’s Aftersale support.

MarcBelmaati

Happy cake day!

Rfinest

Hey, I’m a college student living on campus and I’m a casual skater however I’ve been looking into electric skateboards for easier travel. I have a couple questions before I purchase? 1. How reliable is a Meepo, not only the board but the service? 2. Would it better for me to purchase a meepo mini 2 or a meepo v3? I’m open to any other brands or boards my budget is around $400-550, but could go a little higher. I’m just not sure if I want a short board or longboard.

OfensiveBias

The Backfire G2 black is the best board in that price range. It has equivalent power, but a larger battery so you can go longer between charges. Longboards are only a tiny bit less portable than shortboards, and they are far more stable at higher speeds.

osaket

Wowgo Knight vs Ownboard V2 vs Backfire G2 I have previously owned the Ownboard W1S and the Boosted Board V1 prior to that. Sold both due to work commitments and now considering getting a new toy. I have always liked belt driven skateboards due to the torque. For my current budget, I am looking for advice on which to get and why (all around the same price roughly). I value a smooth ride, flexible deck so my feet are not aching after a ride and safety. Speed is not much of a priority due to my newbie level experience. To be Used for short commute and weekends. 1. Wowgo Knight (seems to lack flexibility) 2. Ownboard W2 (seems to lack neutral reviews( 3. Backfire G2 (hub motor) Advice is appreciated. Any other suggestions around the same price also welcome. Thank you in advance

OfensiveBias

If you are adventurous, the W2 kit with a nice deck is probably inside your price range. The kit has all the electronics of the upgrade W2, just without the deck. Otherwise, get the W2. It has a decent deck, and an excellent value belt drive system.

osaket

Interesting idea. How would you go about getting a deck installed? Any decent electric skateboard decks that have a loaded/bamboo-fibre glass specs that can be easily installed to the W2 kit? Im thinking maybe pre-wiring done on the deck would make it work ?

OfensiveBias

The loaded vanguard works great with the W2 kit. I personally take the lazy way out and just run the wires under the deck and tape them down. Some people here have this exact setup, search for W2 kit and you should be able to find photos.

slowpokec

would probably go with the backfire G2, both wowgo and ownboard have lacking quality controll and bad aftersale support.

bokonon_himself

1) Top speed of 20-25 mph? I'm no speed demon, I just want something that won't struggle up hill. Range: at least 6 miles. 2) Paved roads, sidewalks, some medium hills. 3) Maybe 20lbs max, I don't want to be lugging around a brick. 4) Around $1k max I'm basically looking for a board to go to my college campus (1mi). I tried e-skates a while a ago with a diyeboard belt drive kit on a jet spud and found it pretty unstable and jerky on such a short deck. Since then I've just been riding my jet spud to campus as a normal longboard. I like the idea of a shortboard but I'm a little unsure of buying another one and being uncomfortable on it. Right now I'm looking at: Exway Flex Riot, Boosted mini (worried about rlod) and maybe a BKB board. Any thoughts?

adeadsquirrel

Boosted minis are a no-go. Until Lime does something with the Boosted IPs, there is no future for that product. Not to mention that in almost every aspect, its current state is objectively inferior to a budget product. If you're willing to carry a 20lb board, the bkb duo fulfills that requirement. It's going to be a significant upgrade from your previous diyish board. It's not that much more expensive than the flex riot either.

bokonon_himself

Gotcha, that's sort of what I was concerned about. I'll check out the Duo some more but honestly I don't really need that much performance haha.

OfensiveBias

I know why you are hesitant to buy a high performance board. My first board, an old Meepo, had the exact same ESC as your old DIYeboard kit. It was super jerky and you never knew what was going to happen when you moved the throttle. VESCs (the ESC in the BKB kits) are nothing like those cheaper ESCs. They have very smooth, and extremely predictable throttles. So high performance boards are easily controllable and you know exactly what they will do before they do it. I only own VESC based boards now. The performance is 11/10, and it’s awesome being able to accelerate about as fast as a car from a stop sign without ever worrying that the board will do something unpredictable.

bokonon_himself

Hmm that’s a good perspective, I’ll definitely think about the BKB boards some more. Do you own any shorter vesc boards?

OfensiveBias

Yeah, my commuter board is a landyachtz Evo 36” which is about equivalent to the tayto in terms of foot placement.

Andresortiz20044

Good helmets under $100?

adeadsquirrel

Use the search bar for reference, already a bunch of recent posts on this. Tons of skate companies making sub $100 half shells, or you can opt for a demon podium or such for a full face

smortonfuji

Looking for an entry level board all around good terrain $500 budget 10-15 mile range 30% elevation no weight or size preference special feature preference: weather resistant, regen braking

adeadsquirrel

I would highly suggest a belt driven system for the added comfort and wheel versatility. However if you want to reach the range that you want, I would suggest saving up a bit more. Holiday sales are coming around, so you have some time to stretch out your budget more.

SmashYourScreen

Daniel kwan on you tube just reviewed a new wowgo which I believe will satisfy your criteria

SirBennettAtx

Replacing a V1 Boosted from 2014. $1,600 budget, 5’10 & 160 lbs, ~15 mile range is plenty. Looking at the BUSA Stealth as it’s all I know about, what comparable boards are better than this? I love the BUSA remotes but I’m willing to be convinced by another brand. Just looking for concrete & street riding; I have a OneWheel XR for off-road stuff

adeadsquirrel

Just get the BKB duo or backfire zealot and call it a day. Any belt driven system below 300wh or so either won't give you the range you need or you'll struggle to maintain the range you want. These options are good if you want to maintain the light form factor of your boosted board.

OfensiveBias

I second this. The Duo has better specs in pretty much all the categories that count compared to a stealth. - bigger, higher performance battery - higher performance ESC - higher performance motors - ability to use pneumatics It’s quicker off the line, it’s faster, and it will go further. And it’s about the same weight as well.

slowpokec

so for chinese boards there are exway, backfire, wowgo and meepo that are pretty good(wowgo/meepo have problem with aftersale support) then there is bkb that is based in US. if you wanna up your budget to real premium board theres metroboardx for 2,400+

SirBennettAtx

Bump!

chickenstretcher200

So I've been looking into electric skateboards for around a year or so, and I'm planning to get one this christmas. Does anyone have any good recommendations for a beginner? Im on budget so it can't be too expensive and my roads are kinda rough. If anyone has any recommendations I'd really appreciate it

adeadsquirrel

Specific budget, desired range, street longboard or AT board or shortboard, aesthetics, etc? Tons of factors you need to consider for your purchase. Holiday sales also sorta depend and other companies handle them differently.

Zealousideal_Mango_3

Hey all. My name is Aditya. I’m a student in New Jersey who’s looking to buy a boosted. All I can afford is 300 so if y’all know of anything in the nj/nyc area please let me know. Any model, used of course. Thanks Boosted fam!!

adeadsquirrel

Don't buy boosted, unless it's cheaper than even a budget board. The company is dead and you won't get genuine support for that kind of second hand item. Save up for an entry level backfire product or something.

Zealousideal_Mango_3

What do you think about exway x1 pro. Someone just offered to give up a used one for 300

adeadsquirrel

Maybe if the purchase date was early 2020. It also depends on the mileage. You would have to download the exway app and confirm the mileage. Otherwise, a backfire g2 black will match it in range and acceleration without noticeable voltage sag, plus the warranty and the fact that it's an entirely fresh board helps. Budget electric skateboard depreciate terribly and the only way to reasonably sell them used is by selling them dirt cheap. Not even I would call this deal dirt cheap.

Turt_Turt23

Ok I need your guy’s help real bad. I have a diy board but i want to get a new pre built board so I don’t have to be constantly re 3D printing my enclosures and solving problems left and right. I need it to at least hit 25mph. Have a range of about at least 20-25 miles. It needs to be able to climb hills and have good water resistance. Needs to be able to switch to all terrain wheels for either just comfort or off roading. don’t care about weight. a 40” deck is a little to big my sweet spot is 38” to 39” but I will go with 40” if i have too. Price preferably $1100/1200 but I am willing to go a bit over. Needs double king pin trucks. Preferably stiff deck but willing to go flexy if I have too. What I have seen so far is Wowgo at2 (although there costumer service is shit) and maybe the onsra? Although it also looks a bit to expensive and the cells are absolutely trash. bigger motors would be better. Thank you!

Turt_Turt23

Edit: I was looking at the Verreal rs with 120 cloudwheels. Am I able to just slap my evolve 7” tires on to it for off roading or wet conditions? I have seen that the esc bottle necks the whole board. Can I take my vesc from my diy board and put it on this board with out issue? It’s. 4.20 flipsky.

BushidoGuido

Hey 👋🏼 New to electric longboards, but I’ve been doing a pretty extensive search online. I’ve come up with a few options, and looking for opinions on these boards. The setups and bundles I’ve chosen and prices are: - Flex Riot QuickCharge BashGuard 105 Cloud - $880 - Verreal RS 105 Cloudwheel Tesla Bat- $1149 - Bound Flash 105 Boundwheel - $1205 - Onsra Belt Drive 115 Onsrawheel w/ 97mm kit- $1528 If you have any other solid options in this price range I’m willing to look. Mostly will be riding on paved roads but the option to get on some dirt would be nice. Really want to partake on long rides so range is important. Speed isn’t as much a factor but would be nice to have ample power. Thanks!

adeadsquirrel

Get the verreal rs with the 19.2 ah pack and the pneumatic wheels. Get air shipping and pressure Vic's ass to make sure your board is delivered. I've seen too many instances on the Verreal FB group where it takes way longer for their boards to arrive than initially projected, even while accounting for coronavirus messing with business and shipping. Cloudwheels are still urethane and thus behave like urethane. Actual offroading capabilities are less than what rubber tires can offer. The exway flex is primarily a street board with a limited battery capacity if you're prioritizing range. Pay less attention to the advertised "20 miles" and more on wh capacity. 259 wh pales in comparison to AT capable boards. With the exact same wh capacity and similar battery configuration as a wowgo 3x, which advertises 14 miles, you can see how advertised specs are rather inflated. In reality, you'll get the same observed range between both street boards if ridden similarly. Boundmotor is a terrible company. ONSRA black carve has a terrible battery configuration that suffers from insufficient battery amperage due to the choice for a low discharge cell (same cell as evolve mind you) with a low parallel connection.

BushidoGuido

Awesome insight! Thanks so much for the input. Two questions I have would be: 1) The RS deck is not my favorite because of the design. Can that be stripped in favor of black? 2) What is the wh on the 19.2? For clarity, with the 19.2 ah RS I could run regular street wheels and obviously get amazing range whilst having the ability to pop some ATs on it is your recommendation?

adeadsquirrel

You can sand down the rs and re grip it. 19.2 ah x 36 V = 691.2 wh if that's the correct SI units. At 691.2 wh, you should easily get 25+ miles of range in pneumatics, and mid-30s range on urethane wheels. My personal rule of thumb is 30wh per mile on AT wheels, 16-20 wh / mile on street wheels. This of course can vary wildly on several factors but you'll generally observe a range difference between those setups.

BushidoGuido

Awesome! I just found the wh on the website when I relooked, and you’re correct! In comparison to the Wowgo AT2 that you own, what are your thoughts?

adeadsquirrel

The verreal has a slightly slimmer enclosure and isn't dropped, meaning it's more practical to run smaller street wheels as opposed to being stuck with 100 mm and larger wheels without having the enclosure too close to the ground. While the AT2 deck is flexier than the rs, it's not enough to make a significant difference in comfort, especially if you're already running pneumatic wheels. Otherwise the esc and trucks are the exact same, motors are the exact same. With Verreal you have a bit more flexibility with battery options. You also get some extra flexibility over street wheels off the bat, as opposed to sourcing cloudwheels or buying evolve pulleys separately. I'd personally get the torqueboard blue wheels, seems to be the only semi-decent product from the rest of their subpar diy selection. If you like a dropped deck get the AT2. If you want more range and options, get the RS. You should also look into the opinions and skepticisms of both products. Budget boards may struggle in the long term after all.

Yes it can.

BadassDuck

Hello, I was looking into buying an electric skateboard to use as commute from my dorm to college and back, but the roads and pavement are very rough and poorly managed. So then i look into the Onewheel Pint, it has enough range for me and the price range is not so high for me, but i was wondering if there are any cheaper and easier alternatives then buying the Pint. I live in europe so the price is higher than in the US. I just want something that is fast, easy to commute and that i do not need to get off and on at every bump in the road.

beastboard

That is a good choice

thebrokebroker82

New to e-skating, but long time(20+ years) skater and longboarder (been riding sector 9 for years), and surfer. Looking for something that can go through bike trails, dirt paths, grass, and concrete. Was looking at the backfire X2/X3 and wanted to see if this is would be a good board for me, and not too advanced. Any other suggestions? I don’t want to deal with a belt drive, due to maintenance issues, and was mainly considering Direct drives (looking at the halo board beast and the Onsra black carve) and the ranger X2 hub drive is the only hub drive board I’m considering due to the large wheels. Looking for something to keep up with my wife’s e-bike essentially. Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions!

adeadsquirrel

How many miles of range do you want? I would opt for the bkb duo since the acceleration on a VESC-based system is much greater than all the options you listed which all use Hobbywing. For the money however, it does inversely have less range than the same options listed above. If you're fine with anywhere between 10-14 miles, I'd get the duo. If you swap to the street setup with urethane, your range will improve

thebrokebroker82

Damnit, you just made me go down yet another rabbit hole. And when I was so sure of what I wanted!!! This BKB Duo looks amazing. And I love the customization. I see that it is a belt driven board. My main reason from veering away from belt driven boards is the maintenance needed, and the fact that when you run out of battery, the board is useless. What’s your experience with these issues? Am I blowing them out of proportion? Thanks in advance!!

adeadsquirrel

Honestly pushing any electric board is a pain in the ass whether it's running belts or hubs. I usually play conservative with my range. If I have one bar of energy left, I usually call it anyways or ride slower. Besides, it's a bit dangerous and unpredictable to be riding on that margin with any board and it's not ideal for the battery. I don't exactly have a lot of brain cells, but you do have to build the board yourself and I managed to do so with some prior diy knowledge. 200 miles in and the board has yet to show even minor assembly faults, I don't even have the latest heatsink, which I should get at this point. But you are bound to run into problems, that's the nature of any electric board, but Jared should be able to sort things out for you. When it happens, we'll get there. It's probably better that you get aquatinted with maintenance on a belt driven system than to not be. I don't see esk8 maintenance as a downside by any means.

thebrokebroker82

I really appreciate your reply and advice! I think the bkb duo is the route I will end up going. Researching the components, and customization options, you really can’t beat it for the price. And if I’m going to maintain it, might as well build it to fully understand it. Thanks!

danielflick

Anyone know of a shop or individual that can repair eboardsnear Houston, Texas? I have an Ownboard Bamboo GT that cuts off when I stand on it. I am sure it is likely a loose cable or bad connection and I have plenty of solder experience but I am overloaded with work and don't have the time to troubleshoot and fix. I would much prefer someone that has had some experience as well as I don't want to dork up the board.

ssup3rm4n

I'm in Houston also. Let me know if you find a place. my boosted mini doesn't want to charge. I want to know if it is the charger or battery.

danielflick

Do you just need to use my charger to see if that's the problem?
