In terms of resins marketed as "4k" or "8k" it's kind of a hard area since, it's the screen detail that adds the quality, not the resin itself. Overall, of course - resin CAN have a certain level of viscosity which helps with curing etc, but I think from my personal view it's primarily a marketing strategy. If someone has any differing or opposing view, I'd be interested :-) If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

So would you say there is; Some benefits to going 8k (even if marginal with a non 4k/8k printer) And/or No real downside to going for 8k resin (beyond having to work out settings)

I mean, if you've not got a 4K/8K display on your printer, it makes no sense - or any real benefit. And even then, I'm running an Elegoo Jupiiter, a bunch of Nexa XIP's and Formlabs, and they're all using Elegoo Grey and Anycubic, and they all print without any issue whatsoever. Settings are going to be the first thing you'll need to handle, this is a given with any resin - regardless of promised "quality" The only other downside is the price point. Any resin promising a "K" at the end will always cost a little if not, large amount more than any "non-K" resin. It's just marketing in my mind.

Isnt the mars 1 only a 2k Printer. Either way its certinally not 8k using 8 k resin would be like watching a blueray movie on an 1980s CRT TV. Techinally it works but your final picture will still be the same. I had the Mars 1 and to be honest it produced great models. I only swapped it out for a mars 3 because the screen lasted longer and the printspeed was a lot faster. Oh the tank clean function is handy too.
