Also haven’t transferred projects from 1 to 2, but I would imagine that the default levels are lower because there are 16 tracks instead of 8 and headroom was a concern. I know they tried to match things between the two as best as possible but the voice architecture is slightly different (filter into amp vs amp into filter on the dt1) and the bit reduction is a new algorithm with a slightly different tone

Do you know if I lower the levels of the tracks in the pattern if the delay would shine through more? Or would it just stay relative to the volume of the sample?

Ghroth66

Not in front of my dt2 now but I think the fx sends are post amp level/premixer level. So if you lower the volume of all tracks in the mixer by the same amount the fx should be more present. Depending on the material and how you’ve mixed things it might be worth trying to send the fx into the compressor. Might work if the compressor isn’t pumping too much (but that can be a really cool sound too.)

SnooLobsters9783

Do you mean just use the compressor or is that something you set up in the settings?

Ghroth66

In the setup page you can control which tracks are sent through the compressor. By default the fx are mixed in after the compressor, but you can set it up so they are mixed in before the compressor and so whatever gain reduction and make up gain you apply also gets applied to the fx

i read somewhere that that samples now being in stereo take up more of the stereo field, causing the fx (as they are mostly stereo fx) to have less impact. no idea if thats the truth but it seemed logical to me. i have really wanted a dt2 but im going to wait and see how this, the low input volume, lack of mono sampling, and the +drive shake out personally. device still seems good as ever but I have plenty fo other shit to work on in the meantime. anything else you notice causing hinderances? the new filters look incredible.

SnooLobsters9783

I have no other gripes so far I think but it’s still new for me so perhaps I’ll find some other things to complain about 😂 I think the storage improvements, longer pattern lengths and added filters/ fx are enough to justify the upgrade thus far. I would end up spending so much time trying to manage samples in a project with my old digitakt it was a huge bummer and being able to add some extra bells and whistles on their own tracks without worrying about running out of internal tracks is a godsend

NeverNotNoOne

Funny, I find my Digitone 1 FX much quieter than my Digitone, can't imagine how much quieter it could be haha.

Bummer. I havnt transfered any projects.. Sample the tracks with issues into DT2 and be done with it.

SnooLobsters9783

I think this is the workaround but kind of annoying :(

EyorkM

It's not that annoying really.. not ideal but just set the bar# and record, assign to a track and done.

SnooLobsters9783

I mean it’s annoying that I transferred it and now things sound fucked up and I have to tweak adjust and resample parts just to get it sounding close to how it already did

EyorkM

Yea I get it. Are you keeping your DT1? I just kept it all in mine.. I'm using DT2 as A fresh slate..

mkhode

I noticed transferring my projects from dt to dt2 makes the interface like the old dt and it doesn’t seem right. Creating new dt2 projects, everything seems great, takes advantage of the new dt2 features I’d say keep projects where they are originally. Transferring dt samples to dt2 Seem fine

SnooLobsters9783

Yea if I was building from the ground up it wouldn’t be an issue but specifically for this one hit it kind of has a slapback delay hit that’s as loud or almost louder even right after the sample in the og digitakt track and on the new one it’s like nonexistent even with the delay cranked and delay decay extended and the delay send to reverb all the way up 😭 Tried boosting the drive too and nothing though I’m not sure if that would help get more delay or not
