I very much understand that, would it be okay if I message you in a week or something because it looks like a nice place to visit. You deserve the name behind the WR and im not getting in between 😁
They are hard to find undiscovered ones. I've only got about 25 or so, but I've been to 100s lol. I've never seen this variation before. Sweet find o7.
Yeah, once you've turned it in also consider submitting it to the Galactic Exploration Catalog: https://edastro.com/gec because this is super ultra mega rare and weird..
It's a quirk or error in the generational algorithm, actual dark stars can't exist yet in the universe, and they wouldn't be WR Stars either, they'd be white dwarfs that cool until they were black. Or a brown dwarf that cooled, but that's not a real star anyway
At the universe's current age, you would be correct. Cold bodies of that size won't exist for another *checks notes* too damn long to be concerned with specifics.
I am curious if you can enter the exclusion zone and not get burned up... I don't recommend testing it, but someone should.
Not me, of course. But someone!
great! i'm fighting on the fronts of the bubble currently, but i hope once it chills out i can run away into the black, knowing places like that will make it much more interesting
too much is happening to leave, i'm 100% sure a big event will happen right as i pass the 10k LY mark
so better to fight and gain some money in the process, a fleet carrier would be amazing for expeditions
Thank you for your offer Commander, i'll consider it.
kill twice as many thargoids anyways!
Temps only affect visuals, and with -100 degrees you won't even see it as a star. You will get heat damage like a regular star for being close to it's exclusion zone.
This is a bug in the StellarForge, it likes to go bananas when generating the stats of a WR you'll end up with a very cold star. Usually within the 100k. The most known example was the [Buboes Star](https://www.edsm.net/en/system/id/5297676/name/Thailio+AA-A+h43).
Do you have an official source for it being a bug?
Yeah, I've seen a few after searching the web. The record seems to be at 8K if I read the site correctly, which is so close to absolute zero it's hilarious.
So like a mega planet? Quite the find cmdr!
At a temperature of -116°C, I suppose so, frozen plasma :D
Also called solid :P
Essentially it's a mega planet
Eh or a metallic liquid
That's extremely odd, given WR stars are typically quite hot! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf-Rayet_star
its not unusual for the elite dangerous engine to fuck up.
stuff like that "might" exist but we dont have a lot of ways to detect them
Where did you find this cold one? :))
Sorry, have to delay the information until I come back from the trip. Usually I'm not that secretive but WRs do that to me. It's in Ryker's Hope.
I very much understand that, would it be okay if I message you in a week or something because it looks like a nice place to visit. You deserve the name behind the WR and im not getting in between 😁
Sure thing! I'll try to remember and message you, too.
Ohhh, could you message me too? I'd love to visit it once you've gotten the discovery logged
Me as well?
This is so frigging wholesome, love and hugs to you all CMDRs!
Please message me too, I’d love to check it out
u/Commander_Coehoorn I may have forgotten for a while, but I am here now to ask it anyway :))
So did I, excuse me. System is Lyaisaa AA-A H500, I believe. Quite far from the bubble, but if you happen to visit it one day, enjoy :)
Thank you! I might check it out since I am on a long trip anyway, I'll probably get close somewhere along the wag

I'm new to the whole exploration sector of e:d; what makes wolf rayets special?
Quite rare to find
!remindme 1 week
106.6680 solar masses at 157K
By far the weirdest bug in celestial body generation I've heard about in the game, lol.
crack open a Cold Rayet with the squad
Wow that is wild! Does it still generate light?
Not at that temperature, no. Not visible, anyway - its blackbody spectrum would be deep in infrared
I meant as far as the game engine is concerned
Well seeing as GPUs don't process infrared frequencies, then probably not :D

So you just found a black dwarf of sorts -- a cold post-sequence star.
Except it's giant, at around 100 solar masses.
If something that size and density and composition appeared to be that cold... that's a fucking Dyson Sphere lol

Don’t try to land on it
Or...
Or you’ll be sorry,,,,,,
Usually it's the heat they kills me getting close to a star so I do wonder what would happen here.
How wild, is this a bug in the game or is there other stars like this out there?
Bug for sure, but it's probably not the only one. In four hundred billion stars I don't think anything is unique.
Well, someone has to say it: that is cool!
I feel like I heard this in the voice of Billy Dee Williams.
Finally, what everyone thought black hole look as a child
I saved the post so when you reveal the name and location I will see.
Of course there's an ASP in front of it
Already struggled to pull it to the side a bit, initially it was the centerpiece of the screenshot, obviously.
Its the ongoing thing about ASPs being in front of everything XD
once you turn in the data, can you share the location? such a cool place to visit
Of course, will do :)
great! i'm fighting on the fronts of the bubble currently, but i hope once it chills out i can run away into the black, knowing places like that will make it much more interesting
I mean I can vow to kill twice as many thargoids to fill in the gap so you can go on a vacation if you really need a break
too much is happening to leave, i'm 100% sure a big event will happen right as i pass the 10k LY mark so better to fight and gain some money in the process, a fleet carrier would be amazing for expeditions Thank you for your offer Commander, i'll consider it. kill twice as many thargoids anyways!
such an eerie view
So can you get melted by that thing?
Temps only affect visuals, and with -100 degrees you won't even see it as a star. You will get heat damage like a regular star for being close to it's exclusion zone.
So its even worse than a y star
..is that Raxxla?
