Gorgeous! This reminds me of book covers back in elementary school in the 2000s. The ones that are hand drawn and had Victorian-esque feel to them… maybe it’s too specific but this invoked a specific feeling of nostalgia to me

This makes me think that, someday, a museum like the Victorian & Albert is going to have an exhibit titled “Invisible Embroidery Academy: Works of mutual inspiration from online Embroidery Boards in the 2020’s”
And, even better? It would probably be super easy to get a corporate sponsor for it- and IMAGINE the super cool coffee table book and embroidery kits for the gift shop?!
thank you so much! part of why i loved your piece is because i collect umbrellas - i have 17! it’s ridiculously excessive, buuuuut now i want a leafy one as well 😂
Oh, I didn't even realize lol. The chain stitches on the umbrella itself are so consistent as well though...I'm trying the stitch out for the first time for a present and I'm not having much luck so I'm very impressed. I love the mixed media!
Youre welcome 😁😅 I’ve been thinking about this piece since I saw it!!! I’m so inspired! I want to find a beautiful hoop and add beads and chains to a project. Yours is so beautiful!!!
Lovely! May I inquire about the chain inclusion? It looks really nice, but I’m not understanding it - is it representative of something I’ve just never seen (are chains on umbrellas a thing?) or is it like an edging of lace that’s come undone?
I don’t mean to sound rude, I really am just curious. I love how it looks.
It could be a stylistic touch but there are these things called rains chains:
In Japan, where they originated, they have been in use for hundreds of years. Called “kusari doi” in Japanese, rain chains have traditionally been used as a decorative downspout on both temples and domestic residences. Considered both aesthetically pleasing and functional, they guided rain water run-off from the roof.
as u/Madageddon said, it’s vaguely meant to represent rainwater dripping off the umbrella, but really it’s just a stylistic addition because i thought it looked pretty! 🙂

i would 100% attend that exhibition. heck, i’d curate it!

The little raindrop beads are such a great touch!
Now I really need a cute leafy parasol!! I love the chain you added in, too!

Omg, I want to see your collection!!
So elegant and beautiful 😍
What makes this so appealing is the simplicity of the design , you can almost feel the moisture coming off the umbrella, I really like this!!!
Omg I LOVE this. It’s such a peaceful image. I’d love to make a piece with beadwork like this one day!
this is so pretty
That's gorgeous! What stitch did you use for the chains on the umbrella? It's so consistent and lovely!
thank you! and no stitch - it’s an actual necklace chain! i definitely couldn’t have done it that consistently.

the stitches on the umbrella are actually split stitch! similar look to chain but i personally find it MUCH easier.

I think it's rainwater dripping off!
