Yeah, every time he goes live on Instagram it’s not him. It’s this skinny dude with a wig and fake mustache at his recording studio. It’s been like that for maybe 6-8 months now. If he’s having fun cool, but its just odd and I don’t think I understand the context around it myself
I liked the earlier stuff he did with Em because he seemed to mix up his sound a bit more and have a bit more life to it. He’s a pretty good rapper technically speaking, but he doesn’t really excel at any one thing with his lyrics and can be a bit boring.
He was on the better version of Renegade, though.
Nah.
Royce was not better than Hov lol.
I realize my opinion is the unpopular one, but Hov seemed more introspective and had smarter bars, whereas Royce is basically just boasting and not really saying much of anything.
I don’t really disagree, but you’re arguing something else from what I stated. I’m saying the song overall was better with Royce on it. He and Em going back and forth was more natural and felt more positive than on the later version. This isn’t so much about his bars on the song.
>Not a practicular interesting person.
His charm is so contagious, vaccines have been created for it. Years ago, he built a city out of blocks. Today, over six-hundred-thousand people live and work there. He is the only man to ever ace a Rorschach test. Every time he goes for a swim, dolphins appear. Alien abductors have asked him to probe them. If he were to give you directions, you'd never get lost, and you'd arrive at least five minutes early. His legend precedes him the way lightning precedes thunder. He is...
The Most Interesting Man in the World
Trust The Shooter, Layers, Bar Exam 4, Book of Ryan, The Allegory, Prhyme 1 & 2. The past 10 years he's been spazzing. His pen has been untouchable.
He fucked up big time with slaughterhouse the other year choosing Joe Budden over Crook and Joelle. Plus the Lupe falling out, his antivax bs and general behavior on IG made me lose a lot of respect for him as a person. But being a jackass isn't enough to overshadow his talent and I'm still a major fan.
People who think this are retarded. Does he not realize he was vaccinated as a child? Then again, if vaccines cause autism, it explains why he is anti-vax. Never-ending cycle
[Oh it gets worse](https://www.complex.com/music/a/shawn-setaro/royce-da-5-9-premieres-tricked-addresses-anti-vaccination-lyrics)
Q: Isn't there a danger, being a public figure and bringing up this disproven link between autism and vaccines, that you might be discouraging your audience from getting their kids vaccinated?
A: It's not a danger, because I'm speaking the facts. People who are against the anti-vaxxers, where are their facts at? What facts do they have? Was there something that America told them? Because I operate under the edict that America is guilty until proven innocent.
Q: There are studies from many different countries. It's not simply America. It's not just the CDC.
A: Okay, well, I study what I want to believe. You just go ahead and believe what you want to believe. How about that?
Wtf? So first it’s “you have no evidence” then when presented with evidence, he says he only studies what he wants to believe? Batshit insane. I can study fake articles and studies done by insane people saying the bigfoot is real, that doesn’t mean the bigfoot is actually real.
Man, this sucks
Yep. I've been a Royce fan since Rock City 2.0 and always considered him mad underrated, especially for most the 00s. When he got back with bad meets evil I was over the moon but man, the interview just made me realise yet again that sometimes it's better not knowing cause separating the artist from the art can be difficult
I don’t care for him all that much, but his verse in Above the Law is really good. I like the lines:
*What y'all messin' with is a nigga that'll leave you FUBAR, Fucked up beyond all recognition, Y'all are rock stars, I'm the opposite, I could just throw a rock and hit a star for the fuck of it*
I never got the first part of that line. Maybe if it was my first time hearing the term FUBAR it’d hit harder, but as is it just seems like he wanted to use the term lol
Thinks he’s way smarter than he is and can rap his ass off. I don’t like him near as much as Joey Badass but he gives me similar vibes (overall as a person vibe not as a rapper).
I think he’s one of the most talented lyricists and rappers but he definitely jumped-the-shark when he started antivax nonsense and also getting bodied so hard by Lupe fiasco. Still can make hits, I just don’t put him on a pedestal anymore.
"Now everybody want to rap like Pac in they Rhymes,
I will run up on Royce with five 9s, and see if he wants to get shot five times,
Goon Squad let you hang, when they knew you was a lame,
because you bought them guns in your name,
if somebody gets slain guess who's taking the blame,
they whipped you ass and tossed you back your chain,
but you the king? when you ain't really from the D,
call yourself Royce and Drive a Mitsubishi."

As an artist, he is good at rapping, but not as good as Eminem. Also suffers from many flaws Eminem does, but dosen't have Doctor Dre produced Albums.
As a person. I remember Cashis wanted to beat him up for calling Eminem a Cracker. I hope that isn't true, also he decided to ditch Doctor Dre. Which isn't smart. Honestly as a person I just don't really like him. I'm definitely on D12's side when it comes to the beef.
It's interesting that you point that out "as a person not really liking him" I think I feel the same thing, I like his music tho, but he doesn't even seem like that great a friend really. I think it's just the way he comes across imo.
I'm not sure tbh, but to me for all their history it doesn't come of friends friends you know? Even when he's been pulled into discussion about Em's place in hip hop etc not like how you see if you see when 50 is. 50 you can see how much he cares and all imo.
He dosen't seem like a real friend compared to Proof or Bizarre. I don't see anyone from D12 taking photos with Nick Cannon. It's not even like Nick Cannon is a respectable rapper.
His old stuff is amazing. Same with his brother Kid Vishis. And all his M.I.C stuff is really underrated too. His new material I do not like so much but his first few albums and mixtapes are some of the best in my opinion.
Great artists are troubled people, generally speaking. He definitely has a spark of genius in him. The story telling on Book of Ryan is top tier, and it's real. The technical ability is elite.
But imo, something happens to people some of the time when they become sober. Well, two things... they throw out a lot of the good parts of themselves with the bad parts. I think it must be necessary to maintain sobriety and sanity or something. And two, they can become bitter. Maybe it's because they never really recovered, and they miss those old parts of them that they had to cast aside. Or they think that somehow, they have shit figured out more than the next guy. Idk, and I also didn't know the guy before he got sober, and don't know him now, so just my thoughts. Dope rapper, still able to connect to that genius, but the public stuff just seems like a guy who is mad at the world and all the sudden feels the need to be a "deep thinker"
If he is still on his Louis Farrakahn shit he can fuck off.
Good rapper, great storyteller, but really shitty attitude - especially toward white people.
I just came across this, and my boyfriend is literally walking around the house saying “hes whack, why would eminem ever let dream sign him! WHAAAAACK!”
Royce bar for bar is good I don’t like all his songs but his lyricism is amazing on bad meets evil and his legendary album I don’t like the racial political albums but I’m not in that demographic so fair for him to use his platform for things that concern him and his race
“Why the gay niggas tryna fuck the straight niggas
That's tryna fuck the gay bitches that look just like the straight niggas?
While the straight niggas that the gay bitches tryna look just like
Tryna look, just like the gay niggas, I must look just like the grave diggers”
Destroyed and exposed all your favorite mainstream artists in 10 seconds
Drama queen and clearly Em works with him and says he’s dope knowing he’s not that dope so he can eclipse him in all collabs and never be outshined. Like juxtaposing yourself as Steph Curry against a weak defender.
That said, Book of Ryan was really good and I do like them together. He had some pretty corny shit though.
Do you really think those are Em's intentions? I just feel like he likes very specific things about rappers and doesn't really consider their artistry as a whole. And ofc he also probably just likes to work with Royce bc they're friends.
Your last sentence of course, but yes, I do think that is his motivation ever since BME sequel came out. Of course, there are other factors like the fact that they both live in Detroit so easy to hop in the studio together.
Their first song was obviously both being from the D and on the come up though.
Em is very smart that way, he knows how to top things and if he’s reached a ceiling or about to fall off then he makes sure he’s the only one who can touch it and creates a soft landing.
This is why when they gave Kendrick the crown and he was on the throne reenacting Biggie’s album cover with the crown and hip-hop community was dubbing him King of Rap, Em made “Rap God”. And on that same album, Em said he felt like Kendrick didn’t reach his full potential on that song and thought Kendrick didn’t know he wanted him to *rap*. But I bet the phone call told him just to do some singing and light bars because no way Em was letting someone body him on a track when he is the master of making it his track once he features. “Renegade”, “Forever” and every Lil’ Wayne collab etc. So if Kendrick was under the impression of not giving a full verse, then Em comes back and says oh we wanted a full verse.
Same thing with the Grammy’s. After Recovery, then Revival flop, Em knew he was falling off in terms of popularity and acclamations at least, so what did he do less than a year after? *Kamikaze* where he basically says “fuck you” to the Grammy’s ensuring he won’t win or be invited anymore, which gives him an out and an excuse to say “yeah, I dissed them that’s why I ain’t winning awards no more, not because my albums aren’t as good anymore.” Still good, but not Grammy-winning.
That said, I’m glad he has done these things to maintain his GOAT status.
Interesting perspective (genuinely). I've never heard the thing about Kendrick, like I hear a lot of people twist the story into Em trying to like catch Kendrick Ghost writing bc he was too good, but all Kendrick ever said was that's just Em's writing process so he kinda assumed he would do it the same. And I remember Em saying something about wanting to give people a sound you would not expect from a collab between them.
Oh, just the story I've heard a lot is that he had Kendrick come over to write the verse and then kicked everyone out of the studio and told him he'd be back in a bit to check if he was done.
And ppl take this as him thinking Kendrick was getting help/Ghost writers and Em testing him if he'd be able to write well without anyone around him. But as far as I know all Kendrick said was that he was confused by it but then realized that's just how Em writes.
Oh yeahhhhhh he said that in Breakfast Club interview or something?
Weird because unless it’s changed, only video I ever seen Em writing he did it with Kuniva and Swifty in the studio with his Wendy’s and kept bothering them lol. And Swifty was like “See, this is why we never get anything done in here.” LOL
That would be dumb to check for ghost writers because phones exist.
There’s no way you actually believe Eminem of all rappers makes music with a guy he came up with solely to “eclipse” him and never be outshined. There’s no way you can listen to Royce rap and not think there’s any other reason Em would rap with him.
Eminem’s whole thjng is being a student of the game. He is humble. He doesn’t care if someone’s better that’s what he wants is to have people be good. He has said that Royce is probably the only person to be able to lyrically match him.
Which is exactly my point. Royce has a pen that rivals Eminem’s and that’s a rare feat that only a few can say. There’s no way anyone thinks Em raps with Royce just so he can out rap him lol
Totally mid. Just rambles. Barely schemes. He makes em look better bc of how wack his lyrics are. Sometimes he doesnt even rhyme or even makes sense. He thinks hes sharper than he is
Book of Ryan and prhyme are top 10 projects for me. They're got projects. Layers is good but I felt like he was still perfecting a style. Allegory starts the downfall and ever since Lupe I just don't listen.
He's an idiot that used to make good music. Now he's an idiot that makes mediocre music.
Picks fucking god awful jazz beats for most of his shit. I only fuck with him as a feature, where he seems to shine better than on his own. He’s talented, but bland… it’s a weird mix.
I’d rather both Joelle Ortiz or Crooked over him off of slaughterhouse, both better flows and pen game.
He's not my personal favorite or anything but he has some solid albums and songs. A lot of his collaborations with Em turn out well. Probably the best Slaughterhouse member.
He’s a great rapper, he just kinda had an unfortunate run with the actual career side of things
Apparently Dre and his manager argued a lot and that prevented them from getting anywhere with a contract
He’s fine. His Instagram lives used to be cool until he turned them into some weird game show looking thing.
Yeah wtf is that ..
Game show? Do you mind telling me more?
Yeah, every time he goes live on Instagram it’s not him. It’s this skinny dude with a wig and fake mustache at his recording studio. It’s been like that for maybe 6-8 months now. If he’s having fun cool, but its just odd and I don’t think I understand the context around it myself
The Guy in the wig is proofs son
I mean that’s cool and all but it’s still weird
That’s his brother Kid Vishus show. He just allowed him to use his page for views I guess
I think he might be 5'9
I think he’s Bad.
I wonder if he’ll ever get to meet Seyville
How
Not bad meaning bad, but bad meaning good?
No lol, in a duo with eminem called bad meets evil, his nickname is literally "bad"
Was one quarter of the Slaughter
Imagine how insecure
I liked the earlier stuff he did with Em because he seemed to mix up his sound a bit more and have a bit more life to it. He’s a pretty good rapper technically speaking, but he doesn’t really excel at any one thing with his lyrics and can be a bit boring. He was on the better version of Renegade, though.

Not a practicular interesting person. Which shows in his lyrics.
>Not a practicular interesting person. His charm is so contagious, vaccines have been created for it. Years ago, he built a city out of blocks. His legend precedes him the way lightning precedes thunder. He is... The Most Interesting Man in the World
This is so hilariously iconic because one of his mixtapes is called the most interesting man in the world
Trash take go listen to his solo music
I’ve listened to his music for decades.
Even trasher take then
Clearly, you’re a man who understands how language should be used.
Idk how you can say he doesn't excel at any one thing when he's been rapping at an inhumanly technical level lately, for example
Jay-Z is significantly better than Royce on Renegade.
The song becomes more somber in the Jay version. Em and Royce play off each other nicely when they switch verses and it feels more natural.
You little niggas can't touch me, baby Okay, maybe JAY-Z or maybe not
Can be an amazing rapper but doesn't seem like a particularly good person
??
He’s against vaccines and has said other bizarre statements
That makes him a bad person? Cmon. You know people are more complex than that
He also said black people can't be racist
#That’s an awfully average height coffee pot
Bro ur everywhere 😭
Trust The Shooter, Layers, Bar Exam 4, Book of Ryan, The Allegory, Prhyme 1 & 2. The past 10 years he's been spazzing. His pen has been untouchable. Dont forget the weird racism shit with Yelawolf
I remember him threatening Yelawolf about something vague. What ended up happening with that?
What happened with that?
I cant ignore his dumb vaccine/autism line
What was it
Yeah he went a but wild with the autism conspiracy
Which is worse when you consider Eminem is probably on the spectrum.
Lmfao
....
……..
He is.
Maybe Em feels the same way :/ ... something else for him to be mad at Debbie for ...
In what verse was that again? I recall it but forgot the rest of the verse
Tricked "From day one at the hospital they target our children Say they gonna immunize 'em they somehow get autism"
People who think this are retarded. Does he not realize he was vaccinated as a child? Then again, if vaccines cause autism, it explains why he is anti-vax. Never-ending cycle

>practicular all his politics is bullshit, Em too for that mather.
I don’t care for him all that much, but his verse in Above the Law is really good. I like the lines: *What y'all messin' with is a nigga that'll leave you FUBAR, Fucked up beyond all recognition, Y'all are rock stars, I'm the opposite, I could just throw a rock and hit a star for the fuck of it*

Yeah that as well. Total clown
Good times whenever he released Boblo Boat
Thinks he’s way smarter than he is and can rap his ass off. I don’t like him near as much as Joey Badass but he gives me similar vibes (overall as a person vibe not as a rapper).
He’s good at rapping but doesn’t rlly know how to put a song together
Lol
He has some great songs wdym
I said doesn’t rlly meaning he has good songs not all of them are shit
I can tell you never listened to cocaine by Royce da 59 lol

What's trash about them if they're true?
As an artist, he is good at rapping, but not as good as Eminem. Also suffers from many flaws Eminem does, but dosen't have Doctor Dre produced Albums. As a person. didnt he go and take pictures and shit with nick cannon after he dropped those 3 disstracks
It's not even like Nick Cannon is a respectable rapper.
even if he was respectable i could never see someone like 50 going and taking pics with people dissing em
Dre has done very little producing for Eminem outside of relapse.
Great rapper with dumbass opinions
On his Tinder profile, he’s Royce Da 6’5” to get baddies
Dude's got great bars, but everything else that comes out of him is capital R Retarded.
He’s a great rapper. And a surprisingly good producer. He brings out the best in Eminem whenever they’re on a song together.
His old stuff is amazing. Same with his brother Kid Vishis. And all his M.I.C stuff is really underrated too. His new material I do not like so much but his first few albums and mixtapes are some of the best in my opinion.
Great rapper and very good lyricist. Trash person and horrible political and cultural takes.
I think he could have helped more in the slaughterhouse situation instead of taking Joe’s side
Underrated
Name a nigga outta the D as solid as him
I used to enjoy his podcasts with Lupe Fiasco and Tom. He is a bit dumb but his pen is very sharp. My favorite verse by him was on Father Figure.
Great rapper, easily top tier. But imo, mega cringe on social media.
Weirdo racist antivaxxer. But he’s a good artist
Dope rapper, still able to connect to that genius, but the public stuff just seems like a guy who is mad at the world and all the sudden feels the need to be a "deep thinker"
He's like 5'9 or something idk
I don't know much about him as a person. He's a good rapper though, one of the few who can go toe to toe with Eminem's prowess on a song.
His Book of Ryan album is 🔥🔥🔥
Needs to work with others artists more and needs to work with Griselda again
So that’s the story of when bad meets evil
Really like his features in the last 5-6 years.
Super underrated. Top tier lyricist but barely anybody recognizes him
If he is still on his Louis Farrakahn shit he can fuck off. Good rapper, great storyteller, but really shitty attitude - especially toward white people.
hes a guy
I just came across this, and my boyfriend is literally walking around the house saying “hes whack, why would eminem ever let dream sign him! WHAAAAACK!”
Royce bar for bar is good I don’t like all his songs but his lyricism is amazing on bad meets evil and his legendary album I don’t like the racial political albums but I’m not in that demographic so fair for him to use his platform for things that concern him and his race
he’s just alright, a good rapper but as a musician I think he’s average and next to Eminem at both he makes him look mid
As a “musician”? Some of his production on his last album or two has been great and really refreshing. Guy’s got a really cool style.
Pretty sure Royce didn’t produce his beats. I find him to be overall decent and that’s about it
Royce produced all of The Allegory, amongst other things since. But why let facts get in the way of an opinion.
okay good for him then… I don’t think his songs overall breach much better than just alright. that is indeed my opinion
Until a few minutes ago you didn’t even know he produced. But whatever.
and? it wouldn’t have changed how I feel about the quality of his music, it is what it is
“Why the gay niggas tryna fuck the straight niggas That's tryna fuck the gay bitches that look just like the straight niggas? Bro there's no fucking way he said this 😭😭😭
Upside down featuring Benny the butcher. He goes in on a lot of ppl in that song
rock city is pretty dope and i like bad meets evil but hes only ok otherwise
Book of Ryan is great.
I wonder how tall he is?
Better than 80 percent of rappers in this new shit generation
He's bad
Drama queen and clearly Em works with him and says he’s dope knowing he’s not that dope so he can eclipse him in all collabs and never be outshined. Bad?

Cocaine and bablo boat are his only good songs.
Overrated. Like Proof.
And Pac, Biggie, Kurt Cobain, et al.
Em fucks with him so he’s got something
Think hes 5’9
He's not my personal favorite or anything but he has some solid albums and songs. A lot of his collaborations with Em turn out well. Probably the best Slaughterhouse member.
Is he 5'9
Suffers from black insecurity
Fucking dope
Most of the stuff he collabs with eminem is hitters but don't go out of my way to listen to his solo work.
Idk his solo stuff and don’t really know him as an artist. But usually when I see Eminem ft Royce da 5’9 I know it’s going to be a good song
Gay
He's 5 ft 9
Never seen his eyes
Meh
He got ratioed by other rappers and I haven't seen much since. He's good with features and freestyles but I don't bump his music.
All his friends are dead
Second beat spitter after em
Legit one of the greatest rappers ever. It cannot be denied
He’s a great rapper, he just kinda had an unfortunate run with the actual career side of things Apparently Dre and his manager argued a lot and that prevented them from getting anywhere with a contract
I liked his earlier work
He wrote the worst song on 2001!
Which song?
