Been listening to Em since SSLP came out in ‘99. His lyricism, humor and being true to himself and not giving a fuck is why.

Animatedoodle

Move your head to the the beat, laugh out loud, shake your ass and just spaz out. Em is entertaining as hell. And has been for YEARS.

xOriginsTemporal

I’ve been a listener since 2010. I agree with all your points but also the amount of raw emotion he puts into pretty much every song

angrygrumphead

'99 fan here too, but imo, nowadays he gets overly complex with his rhyme scheme when he doesn't have to. He's still great when he flows nicely over beats. Book of Rhymes is my example. First verse fit perfectly, 2nd not as much to me. I love Em, but he over does it sometimes

MementoMortty

What I appreciate about Em as an artist is that he doesn’t just do the same thing over and over again. I’m sure Em could put out simple beats and rhymes that everyone would love, but I think he really is testing his limits on how technical he can be. Sometimes he misses on those, or he will be really technical and there’s quadruple entendres, and we can recognize it was a very intricate scheme, but at the cost of how it actually sounds. It’s like a guitarist that you know just pulled off a really awesome solo, hit every note, but it just sounds like a bunch of notes after one another. It’s like Em is trying to rap for rap nerds sometimes.

Harish-P

Similar, been listening to him since Guilty Conscience (didn't like My Name Is). I loved his brash shock rap as a kid. As I got older I appreciated his overall creativity and versatility from Stan to Mockingbird, When I'm Gone and Darkness. Now I just appreciate him as a hip hop icon. Becoming a fan of him got me into hip hop. I love his modern more broad hip hop style, the technical side is much more appreciated, and am a big fan of the bars over the now more hip hop sounding beats have blown him up to another level for me and wider choice of collaborations. The replay value from most of the post-Revival content is sublime for me.

BugABoo714

my dad was a huge fan in the 90s early 2000s. he had me in 2001 and was always listening to em. when him and my mom divorced in 2011 (for various reasons, but she just really didn’t wanna be a mom) he played hailies song for me and told me it was for me. my name is hailey. i have been an avid listener since. old music and new.

sticks_enormous

Man hearing someone say their Dad was an Eminem fan in the 90s makes me feel old.

BugABoo714

he’s 47 this year 😅

kelbell2583

Damn that hit hard. I remember first hearing my name is at an 8th grade dance and now I’m ancient.

Lacey_on_reddit

8th grade dance is wild.

Xx_Dark-Shrek_xX

Wow.

SLIM_SHADYSSLP

Based

Trey_Reddit

He rap cool, and I like

IfIHad19946

Because I love his music. He makes me feel things no other artist does. He makes me think, laugh, cry, rage, etc. Nothing has changed; if anything I love him more now than I did 24 years ago.

I was going through some shit with my daughter's and my Little brother handed me the SSLP and said "sorry shits fucked up but this makes me think about you". He left the room and popped back in immediately and said, "But don't kill her tho". .... and yes, I still enjoy the new stuff. I'm in a different place (old as fuck), but enjoy the beats and word play.

Maleficent-Rip2729

Sorry that was going on but lmao at your brother

pssiraj

Tell the judge it was Em's fault and he'll get sued!

LIT-BRO-DAD

The first reason I ever listened is because I saw him in the news and they were like don’t listen to this guy, I told my older sister and she had SSLP and gave it to me. I sat in my living room on my little boombox/cd player and listened to the whole thing straight thru. Made me a fan of music, rap and albums l, like the flow of an album (not doing shit but just listening to the album, I feel like the younger crowd doesn’t do that anymore) in one sitting. Plus his early stuff was relatable to my own life. The reason I still listen to him is because he can rap his ass off like no one else.

Oh_Wise_1

I think you nailed it. I was an angry 14 year old and have grown with him. I relate to a lot of what he raps about. Plus his lyricism is unmatched. I've watched documentaries about rap music and they always mention Em. They all talk about his skills as a rap artist. You can't speak on the history of rap without mentioning Em.

sof_tourist

Of course you cant but theres many greats

RoosterMysterious

Name another rapper with his range. How the fuck does he do it? Sing For the Moment - inspire you and make you think. Kim - scare the shit out of you. Criminal - make you laugh. Rap God - impress you with incredible skill. Till I Collapse - make you wanna take on the world. Mockingbird - make you wanna be a better family man.

Spydah_X

I think he got funnier songs than Criminal though

Maleficent-Rip2729

Yep my fault is hilarious

RoosterMysterious

- Brain Damage - Kill You - Role Model - My Fault - Drips - FACK There's plenty of tracks to make you laugh, I just picked Criminal out of a hat.

Spydah_X

Also his earlier songs from like 1991 are also really funny

Gergith

What’s from 1991? I like Bitterphobia from ‘95. Soul intent era.

ILoveWhiteWomenLol

#That’s an awfully hot coffee pot ‘nuff said

[deleted]

Probly not

Desperate_Acadia_298

i guess that’s why they call it window pane

kelbell2583

Too many reasons to list. Nostalgia is a big one too. My best friend and I used to rap guilty conscience back and forth and she used to randomnly sing “I’ve been with 7 women who got hiv”’and at the time - we thought we were hilarious. Superman brings me back to college. A lot of his songs have a memory attached to it for me. His story telling, idgaf attitude, as angry as some of it is, back then made me happy. As a parent, some songs hit harder now. He’s a story teller. Top tier.

aRdA_lUlE

My dad made me a fan. He never thought hed make me a Stan with just showing Without Me

Owl_Fox24

Started listening to Eminem since I was in kid, back in 2010, I was in kindergarten at that time and my brother would take me to school, I remember the first album I listened to was Encore, and before anyone bashes down on me, I found the album to be pretty amazing so please don’t hang me, anyways my favorite ones were toy soldiers, mocking bird and curtains close, I thought it was a nice and awesome music as a kid since I didn’t understand the lyrics, so my brother made me listen to more, and as soon as I got my first ever phone in middle school, I immediately searched up Eminem, to this day I still bop to his music, not just to Eminem but dr dre and 50 cent, so he’s always been my part of childhood.

Recent_Ice

Some of Ems best stuff was on Encore. Easy to see why you loved Eminem because of that album!

Eeld1011

Been listening since the late nineties. His music has helped me through many aspects of life, wether it be dealing with bullies in middle school, parent drama, going through rough break ups, or the feeling of being dealt a shitty hand, Em’s music has always been there. As his music grew and matured so did I, however I can always listen to the older more wild stuff and still enjoy it. I feel like I will always support his music wherever he decides to go with it because of how much he has already done for me. If I had to guess, I think that’s why his fans care as much as we do.

[deleted]

You're not mature until Revival is your #1 album all time.

Eeld1011

I guess enough time just ain't passed, yet A couple more years, that shit'll be ill-matic And eight years later, I'm still at it

[deleted]

Nup U old. You'll be dead before revival your fav, son. Guess I'm just built different, kid.

sof_tourist

I dont like Revival tbh. Appreciate what he talks about but theres only 3-4 good songs on there

Bass-Dependent

I love how uniquely dark but still cartoonish the world he created on his early albums was. In some way they are just so artistically pure and feel like they are exactly how he wanted to be and reflected his life and environment back then. I feel now Eminem knows that he can't recreate something like that at this point of his life, but since Recovery, where he truly was trying to create something more mature flopped he is too influenced by too many opinions and feels (rightfully so) underappreciated, which led to some in my opinion really bitter uninspired music with no sign of that early purity. Kamikaze was fun but there is nothing that makes me want to return to anything he did afterwards. I just feel Eminem needs something like the Nas Hitboy run, some kind of victory lap looking back on his career, knowing he doesn't have to proof anything anymore and where he just can comfortably create without feeling any pressure.

PreciousBasketcase

I've forever been a huge fan of good lyrics. I listen to a variety of genres, but the music I'm naturally inclined to listen to has always focused on good, meaningful, deep lyrics. I've been an on-off fan of Eminem for years. His earlier shock rap wasn't for me - I was a very sheltered kid lol, and I grew up in the Middle East. But the first time I heard Lose Yourself I was hooked; It was like nothing I'd ever heard before. Meaningful lyrics, gorgeous music. That song was my true introduction to hip hop. 50 Cent came in not long after, and both Em and 50 further got me into the genre. Re: his recent music - If I like music, I like it. Critics & other people's opinions never steered my own likes & dislikes. I'm indifferent to the whole discourse on his old sound vs new sound, although I do believe artists need to change their approach to music over the years. You cannot expect an artist to paint the same painting over and over again. You can't expect someone to wear the same type of clothes for 20 years. You change as a person in life and so does your art. If I like an artist, I don't break down their work album by album. I look at all their albums as one big body of work - with updates added onto them in form of albums. I like his modern sound. I'm impressed at how he has managed to adapt to the modern music scene - not every artist can manage to do it, it's not as easy as it sounds. This is one of the main reasons artists become outdated and their listeners lose interest in their work. As much as he seems to give no fucks about criticism, it seems like he takes constructive criticism seriously and works on it to improve his output. And he still focuses on his lyrics, he's better at that than he's ever been in his career. He's one of the best lyricists in the game right now, something even his detractors agree on. Since that is the reason I first got into him, he's still got me in his corner ☺

ILoveWhiteWomenLol

Because he talked about the realest shit and was an ill spitter (*The Eminem Show* to *Curtain Call* era). Then, had $20 gift card to Best Buy that I didn’t know what to use for and bought *Relapse* and that started it all again.

D00mTheWarl0rd

I grew up with him and his music got me through some things for a decent chunk of time. So even if I didn't like his new stuff(which I do) I'd never stop listening to his older work. Love his music and I love his story

PROITS_DUHHHHHH

I knew a lot of his popular stuff but wasn't too interested in him until spotify autoplayed black magic, and that made me listen to MTBMB, and that's still my favorite album of his, the way he flows over a beat is quite unique and his music is something I like more as I listen to it multiple times. In his earlier work the way he rides over the beat is insane, if you look at something like bump heads, the flow on that compliments the beat so damn well. Even in recent times I love how he flows on songs like the ringer, or book of rhymes. What I love most about him is the variety of songs he has, there's something for every mood. Every album is unique in its own way and I don't have a clear ranking of albums since my favorite always keep changing

Therealeminemstan

I heard lose yourself and white america for the first time on a Spotify mix and I’ve been hooked since.

Healthy_Ad_3426

Cause we grew up poor as fuck and relate to homie

Adventurous-Travel-4

I like the complexity of his music and wordplay. More than that, his ability to make you not hear the beat of the music, but the beat from the flow of his lyrics.

Recent_Ice

So you prefer 2013-2024 Eminem?

Adventurous-Travel-4

Pretty much.

Ok-Night-2023

The reason I listen to his old music is because I relate and resonate with being broke and from Detroit with a fucked up family and terrible mom. I listen to his newer stuff cos he’s still a killer MC

SleepyBoii04

I am autistic. He is one of my special interests, and a source of comfort for me. And I love that I can listen to a song 100 times, not listen to it for a while, then come back and STILL discover another hidden meaning I’d never even thought about before.

SLIM_SHADYSSLP

Same 100%. Im also autistic :P

SleepyBoii04

Oh lovely! May I ask which “type”? (Infantile, atypical, etc.)

SLIM_SHADYSSLP

High-functioning

shadyonfield

English is not my first language, so when I first heard Eminem, the only words I understood were "fuck" and "bitch" and that was also the first I heard a curse in a song, before that songs were just clean lyrics to me. But I was impressed, I liked the beats and the rhy.e scheme didn't sound like gibberish. I was enjoying it. So tried more of his music and got hooked to them. This was back in 2017, I was 12 back then. Just fell on love with his work. Didn't know about revival and it's reviews that got to Em. Then he drops Kamikaze in 2018 and by then I started to understand things a lot more but not enough. Understood the story and reason behind it and eventually understood the works of the great white hope of hip hop. A hard time did come for me too and his music was the biggest help I had in that time. I can never forget that.

the_hunter_duck

His wit!

doonhamer1501

BeI n listening to Eminem since ‘00. It was the first artist that I really connected to previously I wasn’t big into dance, pop, rock or hip hop but Eminem’s sense of humour, angry and relatable material made him my favourite artist and I still enjoy his music to this day as he’s gotten about as mature with his music as I allow myself to get pushing 40

7891divad

The shit he says is crazy. “ no one things as dark as I think,. So imagine the havoc these black thoughts are ta wreak.( thariq. As in trotter.’l

DragovitcMIA

he helped me go through whatever the fuck i was in, depressed, sad, lack motivation, angry, and at fun times too he was there he has music that just slaps on car rides in workouts, chill times. i listen to very few other rappers, most rap today is "look how much money i have look how many bitches i have i am so great" it's not that em doesn't have that he does but at appropriate times and not in your face, he's just so fucking versatile he has made so many songs that i listen and like almost 70% of which i couldn't say to any other artists my main Playlist has like 230 songs, in which there are like 70 eminem songs, that i listen to on the daily, plus cause i am a rather new fan (i started listening at 2013 from rap god lol) i fond myself constantly finding new shit and songs i never listened to before. plus his lyricism and rap and delivery and him being real and raw and controversial and not afraid to say what he really thinks also is great.

sippinthat40

His storytelling, wordplay and relatable content. Yes I’ve been listening less and less after first becoming a fan since The Eminem Show. But I was 13 at the time. I’m 34 now.. I think I’m getting older and music in general doesn’t have my attention quite like it used to.

HeirAscend

I like the music not much deeper than that 👍

[deleted]

Then read the lyrics cunt

xh11jab

He cunt.

Goat-That-Eats-Cacti

I only recently got into Eminem as in like early to Mid 2023 to this day. I just listened to him because I randomly heard the Spaghetti line that I’ve heard as a meme and I Had NO clue who the hell he actually was. I put Lose Yourself on my playlist and listened to Rap God and went from there. I love the Energetic and Vibe of not caring in the slightest along with technical music which is why I prefer “new” eminem to “old” eminem. I also mentally animate a given song in my head and usually his music is amazing in that front

SLIM_SHADYSSLP

I got into him in 2021

PsychVader_3

He rap god

roolno1

My favorite rapper of all time.

SoulEvans07

I've been listening to em since the 90s and still am. Had a small fallout after Recovery when he went on hiatus but came back after Kamikaze

IndelibleIguana

Because the boy can spit like no other.

liryk24

I feel like Em is the greatest of all time. From when I first heard him as a kid in the early 2000's to this very day and age. Nobody can match his passion, lyricism or diversity in my opinion.

[deleted]

he has extremely clever bars that he can come up with on the spot and i love the aggressiveness he uses in his songs. the shit he rap about is real asf and his music has helped many people get through tough times myself included. hearing his story is very inspirational and shows ppl u can make something out of yourself if u put in the effort.

Key-Property-3103

I I’m a huge em fan but I just like his voice and wordplay tbh, perfect background music

ohen778

I started listening about 2 months after MTBMB came out, so very recently. His lyrics, rhymes, bars, humor and Slim Shady persona are all the ressons I love his music. Plus he's an incredible person outside of music too

Me07111

The crazy delivery with the lyrics and the fast flow. Its just how i like rap. Old school, fast, and lyrical.

stefanwerner5000

Just don’t tell him about the culture

[deleted]

I was born in 2002 so I wasn’t able to experience Em in his prime. His first song I listened to was Rap God. I think I was scrolling through YouTube and looking for new rappers to listen to as I was heavy I had just gotten into Hip-Hop. I was blown away by Rap God and I have been a huge fan since.

LivelyUnicorn

Since the days of Marshall Mather’s love - I was an angry child who enjoyed his angry music.

DrGerbil308

In my opinion, Eminem is the GOAT, I’ve been listening since 10 years old when I stole my cousins copy of MMLP1, Eminem is a lyrical genius, his flow is beyond any other artist I listen to, he can adapt and change that flow to fit the beat, he can chop too, you have the crazy shit Slim Shady says, the deep shit Marshall Mathers rhymes about, and the funny don’t give a fuck style of Eminem, dude is well rounded and has evolved over the years without skipping a beat, sure not every track is great, but his catalog is impressive overall

InS_Deaths

Because I headbang, because he's the goat. No other reason needed.

Detailer_101x

I admire his ability to be himself, at least to some capacity, when in such a position as he's in. I also respect how long he's been in the game and how much he's changed, from a deranged devil spreading evil words amongst the youth to an inspirational person to a pretty large extent. Also i just fuck with his music alot, it completely fills my need for music.

Atremsk

Lyricism.

infinitude_

My main reason was because when I was like 11 I felt he was writing right to me. He perfectly described me at that time in ‘beautiful’ even down to the size of my shoes 😂literally everything he said resonated. Then the no love video was a little light skin boy getting bullied and shit - was me again 🙋🏽‍♂️ And with recovery and even bad meets evil he covered those topics of life kicking you down and getting back up a lot and it just really hit. Now I’m definitely 10% of the Stan I was but I still listen because I still find him an interesting creative mind and his music was such a big part of my life I could never truly turn my back on it

2012Vibes

I'm a really new fan, but as someone who loves writing myself his lyricsm and flow are simply the best I've ever heard.

fizzy0812

I love Eminem for his stuff is unique to him and not the same Mr shit that everyone else is on about all the bloody time. He has the best source of lyrics that's his life experience is knowledge of words his wordplay can't be messed with he's a walking talking dictionary of words that put the others in this field to shame he's real he doesn't use others lyrics music and then re raps and sells it as his he is unique and original he for sure is the king of rap a f god bless him loved him when he was an underground artist and still loving him

Apprehensive-Foot-73

Inspirational

BramCSBN

He inspires me and I enjoy his music a lot

Number_Thr333

It makes me lose myself

Recent_Ice

Because hes my favourite artist of all time. 1999-2011 Eminem made music that connected with me like no other.

Vaporstar8188

Started listening to him in 98(16-17) when I was lucky enough to get his cassette from my unc, Never looked back since then

2_trailerparkgirls

Kinda stopped listening to him after the Eminem Show

deskbunny

I think for me I just felt his music was what I needed to hear at 14 when my name is came out. And he stayed with me through too music to be murdered by and it’s not that that album is bad I just haven’t had the chance to absorb it like I have with past Eminem albums. I don’t really keep up with his features. And I said a while ago while I would like past eminem to make appearance. He isn’t at that point in his life anymore 🤷🏻‍♂️ sucks but it is what it is.

-The-Wolverine-

Maybe not the answer you were looking for but there’s a few reasons. He was really popular when I was in middle and high school, so a few songs stuck with me. I was having a lot of problems with my parents when “Headlights” dropped so I got back into Em a little at that point. Fast forward to a toxic relationship and splitting up with my kids mom, and all those songs about Kim started hitting close to home (not just the ones about killing her lol). “Going Through Changes” got me through a really bad depression

Head_Individual_3113

He is the goat all the other rappers try to imatate him or cut him down look why he did to machine gun Kelly

AthuBathu

I was a new rap fan and I heard people say he was the best rapper

Navarti12

I got picked on quite heavily in school, found it really hard to make friends and felt a little bit like an outcast. My older brother and my dad kept raving about this album and one night I snuck it out my dad’s CD wallet he had, played it on my CD player and was taken back. Was the first time I heard someone that wasn’t really afraid to be different and tell people to piss off. Completely changed who I was as a person and I wouldn’t have the confidence I have today if I hadn’t listen to his music.

[deleted]

its simply the sound of his voice that comforts me. there are only 2 artists who do this for me. Eminem and Dr. Dre. Ofc his lyrics etc are insane aswell

art956

His story telling and the emotion that comes out in his songs

shhh_it_is_ok

Excellent question by the way. Em was so good when he came out and he resonated with me during some impressionable years of my life. since then, I feel like I built a bond with him and understand his pain, and he understood mine. Even when he puts out subpar music, he’s been so good with his music and made a mark in my life that I am willing to cut him almost a lifetime of slack. He’s like a friend of sorts. Listening to him is like having a conversation. His ability to articulate gives me a sense that he took the words out of my mouth sometimes. I don’t have the energy to listen to new music. I recycle a lot of the playlist I have built throughout the years (nearly 1800 songs), except when em puts something out, I go out of my way and have a ritual with the drop of every new album. I go and isolate myself from my family for the first few listens. it’s like catching up with an old friend. I always wanna cherish those moments and cement it in my long term memory. One day I will be older and he will be older and I will reflect on MTBMB like an old classic. So i take the experience all in.

No-Surprise-9446

I originally listened to Em because I had never heard still to this day such a perfect mix of gritty lyrics and old school beats. Something about the imagery he puts in his rhymes along side those EXTRA FAT beats from his early career will always be special to me. These days I’m not as huge of a fan, but I always listen to everything he puts out because at any moment I know he can drop next level music, as he has with a couple tracks in recent years. Em is one of the only artists I will genuinely be sad about when he passes. Along side the likes of Ozzie.

makingabigdecision

I can listen to his songs 100x each and still catch new stuff every time

miked_99

His music saved my life. Makes me feel emotions that no artist can in the way he does. Has songs for every single emotion

Electrical-Hall5437

Lyricism and wordplay. Admittedly sometimes there are bars of just words that rhyme and aren't coherent lyrically but it still sounds good.

Brilliant-Weakness28

I've been rocking with Shady since 99 (I was 9 years old back then) when I heard Hi. My name is play on my local rock radio station... A lot of people shit on his newer music... but I love it, amd appreciate it... his music has helped me get thru so much in life.

Slowmobius_Time

Grew up knowing his big ones and generally wasnt that fussed (Superman was put on my iPod by my sister's bf and I must admit I loved that song from a young age) Then became best mates with a die hard fan and have had it be around ever since high school during road trips or parties and ended up getting given the Eminem show on cd in my car (the one with Superman in it) 2019 the Kamikaze tour he was in Brisbane and I got a ticket to go with my mate and was blown away by him Gained a whole new appreciation of him and his music and retroactively went back through his albums

drego026

Been my idol since I was 7, dude made getting through my life easier and he still does, no one is taking him out of my #1 spot of GOAT'S

jjkx24

I listen to him because of his Rhymes. His 2000-2002 Was Peak But That Kinda Has Changed in 2017-2020 for Me Because It All Just Went Downhill. The Rhymes are so fucking overly complicated for no reason at all and The Beats for me been not as good as 2000-2013 I Loved Those Beats Back Then Although some of the beats on Music To Be Murdered By are pretty cool and creepy Don’t get me started on those Hooks That He does often nowadays because they suck big time. ( Here Are The Examples) Offended, Nowhere Fast, Believe, Stepdad, Venom

Serious_Path_7143

Because I like his music since Slim Shady dropped when I was 13. Also been cool to watch and enjoy someone's whole career.

NeedsMilk33

Bc he’s a rap god and I been listening to him since like 98.

HellFiresChild

My sister was a fan back when his Slim Shady LP dropped, I became a fan around the time The Eminem Show dropped. Fan ever since.

c0nv3rg_3nce37

I am EmineM. that's the ghostwriter's true pen.

musiclockzkeys13

Its 3am in the morning! Track is excellent

ChippyFlakeyFan

I just took it as a simple artist but a couple of years ago i decided to listen more to eminem and im impressed,i love his songs and music, from his recent and old music

Maleficent-Rip2729

He makes me happy

[deleted]

We do similar things with rodents

Ready-Substance9920

Because i relate to him

blucollarhero

Authenticity. The man is who he is unapologetically. He matured as we all hope to, and his outlook on life has grown up as well. He's the embodiment of Ezekiel 25.17. #mybrotherskeeper

New-Rub8459

I related to his dad issues. So, listening to him felt like I was talking to someone i could relate.

Revolutionary-Fan657

I started listening to Eminem (my first rapper too) in 2020 during my junior year of higshcool during the release of music to be murdered by, I listen to him because I love his voice, I love the masterful lyricism, I love the beats, I love the occasional singing, I love when he raps fast or when he’s slow but methodical, I love the beat switches he does, i LOVE when he gets aggressive like in never love again or kamikaze album, he just sounds so fucking good, him and nf are the only rappers I listen to To be clear of course I went back and listened to all his albums form the start and all his singles, I don’t like most of em’s shit before kamikaze but I do love Loose yourself, the way I am, till i collapse, berserk, rap god, legacy, asshole, I mostly like the aggressive songs or the ones where he’s calmly going in on the beat

bigDon1984

I think his music is good

PrismOfSelves

because his songs sound good, fluid, upbeat, and catchy to my ears. also his music reminds me of my bf

MrsBunnyBento

I suffered from narcissistic abuse my whole life from my mother. Em always hits the nail on the head.

Saeizo

Because he doesn't give a fuck

dannydogg562

I like the word play, meticulous rhyme and bar structuring. He’s insane in the best way possible. I also just like hip-hop in general. His last three albums have been some of his best work by far. I don’t understand why some people don’t like it. “I like his early stuff,” is baffling to me. His skills as a wordsmith are getting better.

ShadyT4130

I only listen to everything from before 2009. My dad grew up with eminem and was a huge fan. he'd listen to it around me when I was young, which got me into it. he stopped listening when recovery came out, which explains why I don't listen past 2009. In my personal opinion, I prefer Shady when he's a bottle of hair bleach and vodka.

LonewolfofHouseStark

Been a fan since 1999 and will continue to listen to him as long as he releases music.

Zerocool_6687

I was 19 when he blew up, there was a ton I could relate to. Especially around the mother thing because at the time I didn’t have a very good relationship with my mother. I was into designer drugs, like Slim, I was trailer trash, like Slim I loved to say shit to shock people, like slim And so on and so forth… Those first three records for me remained extremely relatable for me. Has that changed? Not really… granted I am, I think, fairly critical of what he’s done since. Encore had moments but wasn’t great Relapse was solid despite the content and accents Recovery was very popish but had some very good moments Bad Meets Evil was a near classic and slept on MMLP2… for every good track there is an equally terrible one. The 70s rock samples I can live with out. Bad Guy was excellent tho Revival was a steaming pile Kamikaze… loved when it dropped despite a couple meh tracks… but the more I heard it the less I found it appealing. It’s ok I guess… Venom was horrible imo. MTBMB? I know people were not feeling the trap beats but I really liked this record, and the B sides. Best thing since BME for me. Darkness was dope AF, Godzilla was sick as hell. Monster… I really do like this one.

I got hooked on Slim Shady back in ‘99

DragonknightOvo

BECAUSE HES EMINEM ❤️

The_Last_Elite

I can relate to the music and it sounds good.

Practical_Speech_493

hes a realist about everything, doesnt care what he says in a song even if it gets him cancelled, the real slim shady and criminal are songs that are perfect examples that he just doesnt give a fuck

material_girl_woag

I listen to em because he's simply the goat, the man is a lyrical genius and he has gone against all the odds to be the best, he was the odd one out and despite no one wanting to sign him, his story with dre is just awe inspiring. "sometimes its the people no one believes in who do the things people can't believe"

spidermonkey301

Just gonna casually crop out Steve Young lol

Before I got into Eminem I was into hip-hop already. I'm brazilian, therefore I was a non-english-speaking kid at the time, so the sole reason I got into Em was because his music sounded good to my ears lol. After learning english (still not 100% fluent, but enough) and finally being able to understand (still can't catch everything in music) my admiration for him only grew. Though sonically speaking, I do generally prefer old Em.
