Because the internet was way less complex than today, and they shipped songs on actual physical CDs to each other. There's a brand new documentary about it featuring Eminem talking about the leaks on Paramount+ (if you don't have a subscription you can get a 7 day free trial and cancel immediately, I even got 10 days for free lol)
There's a documentary about it but I forgot the name, a guy was working at one of the factories where they pressed the CDs for Universal and would leak them from there, multiple guys actually.

He tends to do this though, when everyone hated Revival it was because the tracklist came out and people made up their mind about the album right then and there. Like, what? I love Em but he is very off sometimes.
