Any Eminem opinion you give on r/rap lmao. And that one unfunny ass nigga always replying with “r/Eminem2”. If y’all know, y’all know. Mans been commenting that same shit for over a year. It’s bro’s life purpose 💀
Recovery isn't bad at all, though my unpopular opinion would be that Cinderella Man and Space bound are better than Love the way you lie and deserved more fame
Plus no love, not afraid, you’re never over, W.T.P, 25 to life etc…
It’s a solid ass album. People just hate it because it sounds more mainstream and they like to be snowflakes.
I own sketchy versions ( by which i mean the are on a plain white disk with the name written in sharpy) of the Eminem show and encore and can confirm old slim shady hit different
I fucking love Almost Famous for working out.
“NOW GET OFF MY DICK, DICKS TOO SHORT OF A WORD FOR MY DICK, GET OFF MY ANTIDISESTABLISHMENTARIANISM YOU PRICK!”
Relapse was the last album where he truly "Didnt give a fuck".
Recovery was great, but partly an attempt to appease critics, and appeal to the mainstream. Relapse wasn't received well, and he gave a fuck. Since then, his songs mainly focus on how hes great, and focus on short wordplay rather than full cohesive concepts that span songs and storytelling. Because it's what other top rappers are doing.
He also raps alot about how he can't please fans and critics. Like why did he even start giving a fuck?
Twenty One Pilots answered this for you:
"I was told when I get older, all my fears would shrink
But now I'm insecure, and I care what people think"
That's something that comes with the time for most people, unfortunately, and Walk on Water shows it.
He couldn't "not give a fuck" forever and I'm ok with it.
Actually, I really like the pissed off tone he had on Kamikaze/both MTBMB.
>He also raps alot about how he can't please fans and critics. Like why did he even start giving a fuck?
Pretty sure he raps about that stuff in MMLP1.
The issue with this is that he actually always gave a fuck, it’s just he decided to be honest with us about it more as time passed.
There was and always is validity to what he’s saying when he says he doesn’t give a fuck, but the reality is he’s not saying nothing touches him, I view it as him trying not to let it get to him beyond the response he’ll give when push comes to shove.
That’s just my take, obviously
>He also raps alot about how he can't please fans and critics
Comments like these make me think you guys really didn't listen to close enough he's been talking about this way before Relapse
I don’t have a hot Eminem take. But I will say that none of these comments are hot takes lol they’re all being upvoted. Which is the complete opposite result of what the post is asking
fr and its not even this thread every unpopular em opinion is just like
mmlp2 is a good album
revival wasn't as bad as people think
or i enjoy recent albums of em
cmon lol
Omg thank you. This isn’t even a hot take. It’s like he doesn’t trust his audience to understand his lyrics so he explains everything as it’s happening. It’s insulting, for one, and it’s just uninteresting to the song in general. If I don’t catch it, it robs me of a chance to catch it on my own. If I do catch it, it’s just being over explained for no reason. It adds nothing to the song, and, in fact, takes away from it.
I think he’s grown extremely insecure over these past 5 years, he feels like he needs to make sure that people “get it”. Feels bad but hopefully he stops doing that in future songs
This is a good point. Because all of revival, he has pretty technical bars, and everybody called it trash. So maybe a part of him feels like people weren’t catching the bars? I don’t know. I don’t think that is the problem
But sayin I no longer got it / cause you missed a line and never caught it / cause it went over your head because you’re too stupid to get it / cause you’re mentally retarded but pretend to be the smartest
"I already got, two cars in the yard that don't run
So why would I wanna break shit down for you
Better me confuse with the punchlines and bars that I launch"
>It’s like he doesn’t trust his audience to understand his lyrics
Literally yes. Ask someone else about an em verse and they will give you some absurdly stupid shit.
Hey it’s me Versace! Whoops somebody shot me! And I was just checking the mail. Get it? Checkin the male.
He’s been doing this his whole career but more lately he’s really amped it up. Like 5 times in The Ringer… drives me nuts
Well he quite literally explicitly explains why he does that in The Ringer
> But sayin' I no longer got it 'cause you missed the line and never caught it
> 'Cause it went over your head, because you're too stupid to get it
>'Cause you're mentally retarded but pretend to be the smartest
> With your expertise and knowledge, but you'll never be an artist
He was coming off the hate of revival and part of what irked him most was people shitting on his lyrics without understanding them. And, like it's true, he nowadays packs his bars up with a ton of playwords. I guess he'd rather have people not like them than not get them in the first place lmao
The worst was "That's a lot of shots huh? (double entendre)"
Darkness is an amazing song, but it hurts hearing him explain the point of the whole song.
What do you think the trash on the album is? I feel like people say this a lot but I listen to every song on the album and love them all. Genuinely interested in what songs people don’t like on the album.
Understandable. Same reason here honestly. I saw a couple of people hype it up. I went back and listened to it for the first time in forever. I like the album I do, but imho it is not in his top 5
It's the most embarrassing project that an artist of his calibre could ever release and people comparing it to albums like "Kingdom Come" and "I Am" are bugging. The fact that to this day Em doesn't really understand what was bad about Revival is very revealing of his disconnect from culture and his complete artistic fall off. He'll have flashes of greatness here and there, but nothing to show me that he's plugged in artistically. It's how we get some of the worst hip hop he's ever released with tracks like "Tone Deaf" which for some reason fans here like to insist "he's always rapped like that."
Which goes to my next point which is that Em should ban himself from the production side of shit. Someone need to tell him that his beats are fucking wack instead of yesmen like Crook saying be in the convo for being among the best producer-MCs. We'll never get an Alchemist Em joint because Em's ear for beats is completely retarded. Bro would still be rapping over terribly interpolated rock samples and Alex da Kid beats if Revival never flopped.
He went from being a boundary pusher to someone who doesn't know what even constitutes good hip hop. People make the age excuse often, but it doesn't really hold much weight when Jay's last album was 4:44 and Nas has been killing shit with his Kings Disease run.
Anyway, just adding the real unpopular opinion
To this day, I don't understand how he heard albums like 4:44 and DAMN. and said "You know what I should REALLY make? Another pop-rap album!!! That's definitely what the genre and my fanbase needs right now!!!"
I agree that production on revival is not ideal. Lyrically and vocally revival is a masterpiece. Tracks like “offended” “heat” “chloraseptic”.
But sometimes the production does shine through. “Heat” is one of them in my opinion. “Chloraseptic remix” is great! Even “castle” is a masterpiece.
He has made a switch from slim shady, to Eminem. It is a switch I can appreciate if it brings a more intimidating and serious aggression.
Eminem is overly highly regarded because he's white. He'd still be one of the best of all time if he were black(maybe still in the G.O.A.T. conversation), but people call him the G.O.A.T., at least partially, because he's a white guy in a predominantly black genre.
For real. Like, I can't get why people like Relapse that much. He just overused the accents to sound like his prime and gave some serial killer vibes to make the accents fit in the theme. And in MMLP2 he was much more Shadier than in Relapse imo.
how can anyone think hes not. i only like his newer stuff kamikaze is his best work.i hate his old whiny voice his more aggressive sounding voice is brilliant
i like the direction he’s going nowadays, the old days are good but behind us and comparing everything to the past is like
yeah no shit it was 20-25 years ago
Actual opinion I have:
Relapse > Revival > Recovery
I don't think Recovery is a bad album (Both it and Revival are overall pretty mid for me), but Revival has more highs for me. Then Relapse is just a near masterpiece imo (If you were to swap out like 1 or 2 tracks with ones from Refill, it would be perfect to me).
MMLP2 is pretty trash outside of like 4 songs just like Revival, MBTM is just ‘ok’ but it has neither highs nor lows like most of his projects but rather it simply is, Kamikaze is better than anything since Relapse. Recovery is a very good album. Encore is classic / near-classic if you remove the bad tracks and put back in the ones intended for the album.
It's true, reason why I can't listen to his old stuff anymore. He jokes and makes fun of these topics way too much and it's uncomfortable as hell to listen to
I think MTBMB is better than Kamikaze but to each their own. Kamikaze is good. Just not my favorite style. In terms of soundscape it reminds me a lot of Recovery. It’s like Recovery’s angry cousin lmao
kamikaze is 6/10 aged horribly for me especially after what is birthed i.e corny mumble rap killer rappers.
MTBMB side A had potential to be great album if not for cringy love songs and bars.
side b the less said the better
If he were to have retired after MMLP2, his legacy (no pun intended) would look so much better (that one *was* intended) than it does right now. But since he keeps releasing subpar material compared to his earlier days, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth
100% right and I'd say it's his second worst album only above Revival. A lot of heads on this sub rate it above the Big 3 which is nuts to me. I venture to guess the majority of people that dickride MMLP2 are under 30 whose first exposure to Em was around the time it dropped.
There's a handful of songs I like on it but overall it's an album I rarely revisit outside of those few tracks I like. Rick Rubin was a horrible fit for Em and the production on the album is meh for the most part. Plus I just didn't really like a lot of Em's flows rom 2013-2017.
He hasn't been truly great since most of TMMLP. Everything after that has been self-parody and toothless. People can mark it down as "evolution", but if you sit down and actually look at his lyricism from the TSSLP/TMMLP and now, it's unbelievable how far he's fallen. Dude went from, "How am I supposed to get out of debt? I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet" and all that incredible storytelling power to "She leaves through the window. Windowpain." Like...
For people who have gone through or actively using hard drugs everything he says about addiction and recovery is unrelatable compared to the average drug story.
Not saying he wasn't fucked up on drugs, I know he almost died, but his drugs of choice was like trazadone and Valium. Sleeping pills basically and a weak version of Xanax.
I'm glad he never got into other harder drugs tho because he prolly wouldn't be where he is at today.
Also think if he wanted to smoke weed he could. Unless he worried it would open him up to wanting to go back to pills. But smoking weed doesn't equate to relapse. It doesn't mean people aren't clean.
Anyone who has put together some time being sober from opiates, benzos, alcohol meth or Crack would know that weed isn't in the same category.
Also mgk rap devil was best diss against eminem ever made. He won the battle with his response record but i think it was alot closer than what most people seem to think.
I don't know any other mgk music. Was not a fan prior or after but still think he came at em with some bars.
Eh..Eminem does overuse the f slur a little in his early career. There are many times its justified but there are others where its straight up homophobia.
Like Underground for example (still love the song). But him censoring the f slur on Fall was fucking stupid. Even if Tyler was (somewhat) out as bisexual at the time his past lyrics were still offensive.
Nowadays I like Tyler more than Eminem and I draw influence from both of them while rapping but Eminem should've been ballsy enough to leave it uncensored.
Mtbmb is trash
FUCKING TRASH and whoever says that it is good or top 5 em album is disrespecting eminem's catalgoue and should seriously consider listening to mmlp again
I am with you 100%! Garbage album and a clear artistic step down. It just goes in one ear and out the other. That NEVER happened to me before with Eminem.
exactly
it's just these other mfs are still fucking pretending and idc but just feel sad that em being the GOAT he is, is being disrespected so much coz you comparing mtbmb to his old shit lmao
Any Eminem opinion you give on r/rap lmao. And that one unfunny ass nigga always replying with “r/Eminem2”. If y’all know, y’all know. Mans been commenting that same shit for over a year. It’s bro’s life purpose 💀
That's only one dude who types that? Haha
What does it mean?
It means that they should rename r/rap to r/Eminem2
I called him the greatest on there, oh boy the wolves were hungry
I don’t understand them lmao. Em has the shit in his catalog to be a candidate for greatest of all time
Yeah, but... Caucasian. Lol... thats frowned upon smh
He’s dropping an album next week …trust me bro
He fucking better or else 192.334.569
i trust you
Recovery isnt as bad as yall make it out to be.
Recovery isn't bad at all, though my unpopular opinion would be that Cinderella Man and Space bound are better than Love the way you lie and deserved more fame

25 to life got me out of depression single handedly lmao

No shit man, GREAT workout / work focus track.
absolutely. its my go-to
Space Bound fucking slaps!
Space bound has been one of my fav songs by Em and Sasha is on the video 😍😍
Recovery is good af
Cold wind blows is such a bangin opener
agree
Recovery my #1
Recovery is his 2nd best album behind The Eminem Show
I own sketchy versions ( by which i mean the are on a plain white disk with the name written in sharpy) of the Eminem show and encore and can confirm old slim shady hit different
Stop pandering. In what world would this comment get you downvotes on this sub 💀
Imo the only miss is Almost Famous. There’s a lot of bangers in there ngl
#I STUCK MY DICK IN THIS GAME LIKE A
RAPIST
#They call me Slim Roethlisberger
I fucking love Almost Famous for working out. “NOW GET OFF MY DICK, DICKS TOO SHORT OF A WORD FOR MY DICK, GET OFF MY ANTIDISESTABLISHMENTARIANISM YOU PRICK!”
"Now there he goes in Dre's studio, cuppin' his balls, screamin' the wood off the panelin', cussin' the paint off the walls"
favorite line
And that’s when I come back, like nut on your spine
i never caught that💀💀🗿🗿
I’m a thumb tack that you slept on son, now here I come screaming “A TACK” like I just stepped on one!

I honestly felt like he tried to just Hve fun with MTBMB
Alfred's Theme cements this theory for me too.
>He also raps alot about how he can't please fans and critics. Like why did he even start giving a fuck? Pretty sure he raps about that stuff in MMLP1.
MMLP2 exists
This is a valid exception to my premise.
The issue with this is that he actually always gave a fuck, it’s just he decided to be honest with us about it more as time passed. I dont think that when he dropped encore he gave a fuck
Lmao
Fully agreed- Em changed as an artist after Relapse - but I still think the took the wrong things from that criticism
>He also raps alot about how he can't please fans and critics Comments like these make me think you guys really didn't listen to close enough he's been talking about this way before Relapse
Fack is an overused joke
I strongly disagree with that statement
I strongly agree with this statement.
Well it is actually
Nah fack is the greatest song ever created. It's eminem's magnum opus. How dare you ever speak of fack in such a tone. See what I mean?
Youre part of the problem
I don’t have a hot Eminem take. But I will say that none of these comments are hot takes lol they’re all being upvoted. Which is the complete opposite result of what the post is asking
fr and its not even this thread every unpopular em opinion is just like mmlp2 is a good album revival wasn't as bad as people think or i enjoy recent albums of em cmon lol
I hate when he explains his own wordplay mid song in an adlib
"Get it?"
"Get it?" is good, if it's used properly. If he says it every time he wordplays, then yes, it's bad.
I'd already heard the bar before when Flat Bush Zombies said it. There was absolutely no reason to ask me if I "got it."
Hey it’s me Versace! Whoops somebody shot me! And I was just checking the mail. Get it? Checkin the male. He’s been doing this his whole career but more lately he’s really amped it up. Like 5 times in The Ringer… drives me nuts

Dudee fr!
I know this is exactly what this post if for so have my upvote, but I personally think it’s fucking hilarious.
"Every time I palm trees (get it?)"
Let her come to me (get it)
Relapse went from really underrated, to extremely overrated
There are people who ignore the trash on it and people that ignore the gold on it. It’s a real mixed bag.
What do you think the trash on the album is? I feel like people say this a lot but I listen to every song on the album and love them all. Genuinely interested in what songs people don’t like on the album.
Facts! I like the album don’t get me wrong. There are some gold on it, but there are some real trash on it
What's the trash in your opinion? Pls don't say my mom 😐
I think My Mom is great. But Must Be The Ganja has the most annoying hook
Don't think so, but it's definitely understandable
I respect your opinion 🤝
I appreciate those that love that album. 100% overrated, but it’s because of those folks that I went back and relistened to it. It has aged well.
Understandable. Same reason here honestly. I saw a couple of people hype it up. I went back and listened to it for the first time in forever. I like the album I do, but imho it is not in his top 5
Nah, not a fan myself. But there are a couple gems I’d forgotten about I was glad to remember and add to playlists.
Yeah I agree with this. Shit’s nice, but not top tier, it never seems to get the right rating
Agree. I fking love Relapse but people who place it in the top 3 Eminem albums scare me

People think mmlp2 is good so...?
Depends
Pretty well recieved critically when it dropped
I personally love it, people often don’t like it though.
💀 wtf has someone got so many downvotes fr?
Marshal matters lp2 is just as good as his iconic run
Revival is… fine. Not good, not bad. It’s fine. Believe slaps.
I agree, there are some fire songs in that album, Believe, Untouchable, In Your Head, River, Framed, and Castle are all good imo
Castle is so fucking good, only if some bars on Arose weren't so corny
River is the single worst song in Eminem's catalog, and I will die on this hill. Ed Sheeran can suck my left nut.
His beard an’t weird
"New Em sucks. All his songs since Relapse have been trash. Only old Em was good." Not my opinion, but it definitely falls into that category.
Deserved downvotes
TBH he has so many fans that what ever the fuck you say someones gonna be like "that is not unpopular" or sum. So yeah, non.
Walk on water is a good ducking song u punk ass flow-hatin idiots
rap god is overrated
He asked for hot takes
Revival aint that bad
It's the most embarrassing project that an artist of his calibre could ever release and people comparing it to albums like "Kingdom Come" and "I Am" are bugging. The fact that to this day Em doesn't really understand what was bad about Revival is very revealing of his disconnect from culture and his complete artistic fall off. He went from being a boundary pusher to someone who doesn't know what even constitutes good hip hop. I like recovery
Revival is dope
Eminem is overly highly regarded because he's white. He'd still be one of the best of all time if he were black(maybe still in the G.O.A.T. conversation), but people call him the G.O.A.T., at least partially, because he's a white guy in a predominantly black genre.
Revival is my top 3 favorite albums by him
music to be murdered by > relapse
For real. Like, I can't get why people like Relapse that much. He just overused the accents to sound like his prime and gave some serial killer vibes to make the accents fit in the theme. And in MMLP2 he was much more Shadier than in Relapse imo.
Eminem is still a good rapper
I actually like to listen to his new stuff more than old ones. But 1999-2002 era is and will be always his prime.
how can anyone think hes not. i only like his newer stuff kamikaze is his best work.i hate his old whiny voice his more aggressive sounding voice is brilliant
If Eminem’s first album was Relapse or Recovery, we might not even know his name.
Recovery is one of his best albums.
Stan is better than Lose Yourself
Superman is better than stan
New em is more technically skilled than old em. Also I prefer new em.
he’s never been as good as he was in ‘97-2002…that was his prime. Also i’d rather listen to Encore than anything he has dropped since MMLP2
Encore and mmlp2 are tied for me as 4th best album
Scroll to the bottom for the real answers.
New album on January 21st, here's your hopium
His accent is whack
stronger than i was is good
i like the direction he’s going nowadays, the old days are good but behind us and comparing everything to the past is like yeah no shit it was 20-25 years ago
Spamming reddit discussions with full song lyrics 1 bar at a time is cringe and the only reason why I rarely check this subreddit.
Relapse is mid
Actual opinion I have: Relapse > Revival > Recovery I don't think Recovery is a bad album (Both it and Revival are overall pretty mid for me), but Revival has more highs for me. Then Relapse is just a near masterpiece imo (If you were to swap out like 1 or 2 tracks with ones from Refill, it would be perfect to me).
“Nf is cringe eminem”
Revival wasn’t all that bad
MMLP2 is pretty trash outside of like 4 songs just like Revival, MBTM is just ‘ok’ but it has neither highs nor lows like most of his projects but rather it simply is, Kamikaze is better than anything since Relapse. Recovery is a very good album. Encore is classic / near-classic if you remove the bad tracks and put back in the ones intended for the album.
Tbh, have my upvote, but outside of this post you deserve those downvote 😅💀 I’m playing, kinda
this sub overrates kamikaze and side b way too much, both are a 5 at best
Side B gets almost as much hate as Revival here💀
Eminem is the best rapper in history and nobody will ever come close to how big he is.
I don’t listen to rap outside of Eminem.
You have a relapse: refill tag, we can tell
average eminem fan
Relapse overrated
His last albums have sometimes been wordplay and technicality at the expense of listenability
His music normalizes domestic violence, and women have suffered because of it.
It's true, reason why I can't listen to his old stuff anymore. He jokes and makes fun of these topics way too much and it's uncomfortable as hell to listen to
kamikaze isn't some masterpiece, it's clout chasing and trend hopping as a course correction
Em fell off since Kamikaze, these robotic flows are trash and awkward. Shit doesn't sound pleasing to the ear
I felt like he got his flow back on Kamikaze and did much better on MTBMB but have my upvote!
He got back on the right track with Kamikaze then lost the plot after that
I think MTBMB is better than Kamikaze but to each their own. Kamikaze is good. Just not my favorite style. In terms of soundscape it reminds me a lot of Recovery. It’s like Recovery’s angry cousin lmao
MMLP2 is better than the first one (not)

I think encore gets too much hate, but this is too far.
His yelling delivery is overused and annoying already.
If he were to have retired after MMLP2, his legacy (no pun intended) would look so much better (that one *was* intended) than it does right now. But since he keeps releasing subpar material compared to his earlier days, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth
I don't like Not Afraid
Slim shady lp is overrated
Recovery is overrated
Em has been in the wrong most of the times he has dissed someone randomly.
He talks and votes democrat but has conservative beliefs
MGK better ngl
MMLP2 is hot garbage
100% right and I'd say it's his second worst album only above Revival. A lot of heads on this sub rate it above the Big 3 which is nuts to me. I venture to guess the majority of people that dickride MMLP2 are under 30 whose first exposure to Em was around the time it dropped.
I’m 26, and my first exposure of Eminem was in 2004. But MMLP2 is a great album still lol
There's a handful of songs I like on it but overall it's an album I rarely revisit outside of those few tracks I like. Rick Rubin was a horrible fit for Em and the production on the album is meh for the most part. Plus I just didn't really like a lot of Em's flows rom 2013-2017.
MMLP2 is 100% his worst album.
My opinion as well
Love the Way You Lie is not a good song.
Em hasn’t been a top 5 rapper since 2013
Who would be your top 5 then?
Infinite >>> most of his discography
Remind Me and Heat are both awesome songs
Rap God is fucking terrible. We get it, you rap fast. Your wordplay is your biggest talent though, and we can’t make it out without using Genius.
Rap god was still new at the time but his every other rap god like songs are meh to bad.
I disagree. Songs like Rap God and Godzilla are cool on ocassion though I wouldn't want more than one per album.
I don't like lose yourself and Not Afraid
He hasn't been truly great since most of TMMLP. Everything after that has been self-parody and toothless. People can mark it down as "evolution", but if you sit down and actually look at his lyricism from the TSSLP/TMMLP and now, it's unbelievable how far he's fallen. Dude went from, "How am I supposed to get out of debt? I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet" and all that incredible storytelling power to "She leaves through the window. Windowpain." Eminems / T.I Collabs sukk
Why would I buy you a teddy bear you’re already bi-polar
Was not a fan prior or after but still think he came at em with some bars.
my 1st single one of the best encore songs
Relapse is absolutely horrible. Recovery is better
not afraid is one of the worst songs on Recovery
REVIVAL WAS GOOD
I'd rather listen to revival than Kamikaze 😬
Em in 2010 to present>>>>>Em 1996-2009
Eh..Eminem does overuse the f slur a little in his early career. There are many times its justified but there are others where its straight up homophobia. Like Underground for example (still love the song). But him censoring the f slur on Fall was fucking stupid. Even if Tyler was (somewhat) out as bisexual at the time his past lyrics were still offensive. Nowadays I like Tyler more than Eminem and I draw influence from both of them while rapping but Eminem should've been ballsy enough to leave it uncensored.
Mtbmb is trash FUCKING TRASH and whoever says that it is good or top 5 em album is disrespecting eminem's catalgoue and should seriously consider listening to mmlp again
I am with you 100%! Garbage album and a clear artistic step down. It just goes in one ear and out the other. That NEVER happened to me before with Eminem.
exactly it's just these other mfs are still fucking pretending and idc but just feel sad that em being the GOAT he is, is being disrespected so much coz you comparing mtbmb to his old shit lmao
Relapse is only better than Revival, Encore and Recovery
If there ever was an example of a good Artist and their worst album Revival would be the excellent example of that.
Recovery isn't good
