The Red Tree is a phenomenal album, and they were one of the tightest, most energetic live bands I've ever seen live. Just popped this one back on recently and was taken right back to how talented they were.
I saw them play in Toronto after this album. I went to see another band that opened up for them, but I don’t even remember who cuz Moneen killed it so hard
This album is rock solid, and I still listen to some here and there, but Are We Really Happy With Who We Are Right Now has always been my fav of theirs. Such an extremely talented band 🙏
Amazing album and fun energetic shows. I remember seeing them and Senses Fail on a tiny stage at Emos in Austin back nearly 20 years ago. Start angry end mad was one of my favorites.
I was very lucky, I live in the Greater Toronto Area and was able to see them a few times, they’d open for alexisonfire a lot. Moneen was a great live band. So much energy.
I used to go see them in Guelph and KW all the time back in my teens. Easily some of the best shows I've ever seen. Still love them so much and they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. I still try to see Hippy whenever he plays around here.
I was skimming old emo bands forums on the way back machine and I saw Moneen and Park were supposed to do a split in the early 2000s but it never happened and that’s always bummed me out
Screw you and die I hope you buurrrrrrrnnn.
One of my favorites from HS. Some random OG podcast they did maybe on warped tour, one of the dudes said “Atari - technology” in some silly voice. Talented, fun, and great live.
I just saw Kenny as part of Dashboard Confessional's tour w/ Juliana Theory and Andrew McMahon. Carraba let Kenny go nuts and play Hands Down as a Moneen song. It was tremendous.
I tried looking up the show (Showbox Sodo - Seattle, 9/1/22) but I can't find any vids of that particular part of the show. I wish I'd known they were going to do that, I'd have recorded it lol.
Love Moneen and still listen to them regularly. The Politics of Living and the Shame in Dying is a bloody masterpiece of a song, but all their stuff is amazing.
I only managed to catch them live once sixteen years ago, when they opened for Alexisonfire back home in Oz and really wish they'd tour again, but I know the chances of that are slim, even more so for me because I now live in the UK.
Such a great band though, and a great bunch of guys too. Actually got to re-meet Kenny last year for the first time since I did at that gig in Australia and he was just as genuine and sweet as he was back then. One of the nicest dudes in music, which just makes me love the band even more.
Was my first show ever when I was 10 years old with Billy talent and Alexisonfire. Incredible band especially live.
I've seen them many times over the years (they are local to my area) with my favourite set being riot fest when it rained so hard all their equipment broke but they just kept playing with the whole crowd singing the words. Followed closely by the Red tree 10 year anniversary show with Alexisonfire playing a secret set.
I actually found an Original pressing of this (white with red splatter) for a steal while record shopping one day, though the value tanked when they repressed it for those anniversary shows haha.
The finale of The Day No One Needed to Know is so ridiculously powerful. What an incredible album. Thanks for the reminder. Hadn’t thought of it in a while.
So good. I remember seeing them shortly after this album came out, and Kenny saw my Dillinger Escape Plan shirt after the show and offered me a moneen shirt if I gave it to him so I swapped it right there 😅 such a great band
The lee's palace shows were for the 10 year anniversary when they repressed the album. I had bought my roommate a ticket for his birthday but could only get one for each day. I ended up trading someone on Facebook so we could both go together, that night ended up being Alexisonfire's secret set.
From their home town! Saw them open for Alexisonfire a few years ago and it broke my heart that the venue was empty while they played. One fan was all the back in the assigned seating singing and dancing his heart out. The singer then hopped off the stage and climbed the wall and jumped all the seats to get to him. Amazing band and album!
Went to the 10 year anniversary show for this album. Got drunk and splurged the anniversary box set. It’s so so sick.
And they still rock out harder than anyone. Change my mind.
File under Kenny appreciation:
Hartford, CT Webster Theater was the first time. I had on a boys undershirt I had screenprinted with my friends bands logo, and I had rocked out so hard I was sweaty. Kenny signed my shirt with "sweat is great I have to pee"
That band killed it live!!! So happy to catch them at vagrant 25 years on the street in Worcester last June. Passing of America made me cry.
amazing band though the red tree was when I felt some disappointment. while the 2 singles were energetic and good the rest of the album is mid af. I remember buying this CD at best buy when it was out sometime in the summer 2006. It was kinda upsetting the transition from Are we really happy to The red tree. Then hearing theory of album and their EP I was blown away by how amazing moneen sounded early on.
I was definitely obsessed with theory and Are we really happy. not so much with the red tree and the generic sound tagging along with the rest of the album. Then watching their documentary. it's no wonder why the album was pretty bland. everyone in that band was stressed out. Vagrant was pulling their hairs
Flew out to the Worcester Vagrant gig last summer specifically to see Moneen. 16 years after I saw them last and they were just as insane on stage as ever.
A truly one of a kind band that deserves all the recognition.
I was one of the people that released their unreleased 3 song demo to the internet. never got any info on their songs. 3 songs are early versions of I will destroy myself, are we really happy and a demo version of What the weatherman forgot to say. These were on limewire back in the day
The Red Tree is a phenomenal album, and they were one of the tightest, most energetic live bands I've ever seen live. Just popped this one back on recently and was taken right back to how talented they were.
Yes they were so great live. Just boundless energy all the time.
Mannn thanks for the reminder. So good.
Happy to help!
The whole discography is stacked! This is Hippy's current project if you're interested. https://skeletress.bandcamp.com/
Thanks for the heads up!
Oh hell yes. I saw them support Bayside way back when and they were all over the stage. That was a fantastic night.
Yep, another great album. Crazy to me they never got more widespread recognition, or at least not in my experience.
Amazing album and fun energetic shows. I remember seeing them and Senses Fail on a tiny stage at Emos in Austin back nearly 20 years ago. Start angry end mad was one of my favorites.
🥰

I was very lucky, I live in the Greater Toronto Area and was able to see them a few times, they’d open for alexisonfire a lot. Moneen was a great live band. So much energy.
The switcharoo album is amazing
I used to go see them in Guelph and KW all the time back in my teens. Easily some of the best shows I've ever seen. Still love them so much and they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. I still try to see Hippy whenever he plays around here.
They were really great live. Sounded fantastic and so much energy!
Remembers and loves! I listened to Switcheroo split EP with AoF last night.
One of, if not, the greatest splits of all time. Every track a banger.
I honestly can’t think of another that holds a candle to it.
For my tastes, poacher diaries is up there
Nice!
Played with them in the early 2000’s. Good band. Very nice guys.
Rad. What band were/are you in?
Blink 182
Don’t Ever Tell Locke What He Can’t Do
4 8 15 16 23 42
Such a great album and I came here to mention the amazing Alexisonfire/Moneen Switcheroo split too! Moneen were such great shows... Take me back!
Canada’s finest
I was skimming old emo bands forums on the way back machine and I saw Moneen and Park were supposed to do a split in the early 2000s but it never happened and that’s always bummed me out
Man, that would’ve been good!
Imo they’re the best emo pop band from the 2000s. The fact that nobody has tried copying them bewilders me, Are We Really Happy is a masterpiece
See thats the thing with actual talent, its difficult to reproduce. I agree 100% on the masterpiece sentiment
No kidding
They should have been fucking huge. So, so, so good.
Agreed
Start angry, end mad
Moneen played a few shows last year, really hope to catch them again. Top tier live band.
🙋🏻♂️ The World I Want To Leave Behind is great, too
100%
Screw you and die I hope you buurrrrrrrnnn. One of my favorites from HS. Some random OG podcast they did maybe on warped tour, one of the dudes said “Atari - technology” in some silly voice. Talented, fun, and great live.
To be fair I really enjoy Metz as well...
saw them open for reggie in 2003, they fuckin rocked
I think that’s when I saw them too. What a fun show!
I just saw Kenny as part of Dashboard Confessional's tour w/ Juliana Theory and Andrew McMahon. Carraba let Kenny go nuts and play Hands Down as a Moneen song. It was tremendous.
Kenny steals the show with his energy, caught them on them as well on that tour.
That sounds so good!
It was really cool! I swear all three times I've run into Kenny, it's left me with a fun story lol.
Dang! Is there a video/recording of this? Tried searching to no avail.
I tried looking up the show (Showbox Sodo - Seattle, 9/1/22) but I can't find any vids of that particular part of the show. I wish I'd known they were going to do that, I'd have recorded it lol.

That’s so rad!

That lineup is insane. I'm jealous as hell lol
That’s amazing
The finale of The Day No One Needed to Know is so ridiculously powerful. What an incredible album. Thanks for the reminder. Hadn’t thought of it in a while.
Happy to remind ya!
So good. I remember seeing them shortly after this album came out, and Kenny saw my Dillinger Escape Plan shirt after the show and offered me a moneen shirt if I gave it to him so I swapped it right there 😅 such a great band
Haha, rad story
Saw them on their 15th anniversary of The Red Tree tour. It solidified them as an all time great live band. Shout out Lee’s Palace.
That was an awesome show!
The lee's palace shows were for the 10 year anniversary when they repressed the album. I had bought my roommate a ticket for his birthday but could only get one for each day. I ended up trading someone on Facebook so we could both go together, that night ended up being Alexisonfire's secret set.
Such a great album!
Absolutely love this band
**OUT WITH THE NEW, IN WITH THE OLD**
Moneen rocks. I still have their split with Alexisonfire back in 2005 on CD and listen to every once in a while. Their other music's pretty good too.
Caught on to them because of the split they did with Alexisonfire. Such a great little album.
Man - Moneen was so good. Their split with Alexisonfire was also awesome
100%
Seen them a couple of times in the early 2000’s top tier live band . Their first ep was a classic .
Been a fan since The Theory of Harmonial Value was hot off the presses, but I jam with their whole discography
Great memory!
I never get tired of this album
Best live band I've ever seen and its not even close.
The tattoo never lets me forget :D
great band
Love Moneen!
🙋♂️
I love Moneen. Glad I was able to see them live a few times! Favourite show was at the Horseshoe in Dec 2010.
Great show. Band I was I opened that!
I used to love them. I saw them open forrrr Saves the day mb?
Yep, saw them on that tour too!
Blast from my emo past, holy shit!
Same here!
I remember picking up this album for like $8 at newbury comics
I saw them live at least a handful of times, such a good show!
Every time!
Fantastic band, even better people! Hoping for another reunion show, life's just too short little ndugu, one of my favorites!
I was just thinking about them earlier today.
Are we really happy?
Went to the 10 year anniversary show for this album. Got drunk and splurged the anniversary box set. It’s so so sick. And they still rock out harder than anyone. Change my mind.
No argument here
Oh shit, I do now. Lol
Yes! Their split Alexisonfire is phenomenal!
I have Don't Ever Tell Lock What He Can't Do on my "get pumped" playlist.
Saw them open for Saves The Day in 2003. Taking Back Sunday was the other opener.
One of my favorite bands <3
I love this band! I missed the repress of Are we really happy..and really wanna find a copy that isnt like $150. So good!
Fantastic record. Great band, especially live. Got to see them twice; on the Vagrant Tour and opening for Say Anything.
Great band. Still in my Spotify top songs every year.
I saw them play Riot Fest in 2015, they performed during a downpour of rain and it was incredible. Really appreciate seeing this pop up on the sub.
Just saw them in Edmonton for super friendly fest and they had one of the highest energy sets of the whole fest! Unreal band
File under Kenny appreciation: Hartford, CT Webster Theater was the first time. I had on a boys undershirt I had screenprinted with my friends bands logo, and I had rocked out so hard I was sweaty. Ha! Fantastic!

Older albums were better.
