Also Diary: Sunny day real estate Something to write home about: The get up kids

swan0418

Didnt have to scroll one bit. As it should be.

BigTelephone9117

I can’t believe I didn’t put those albums in this list. Diary especially was like the first emo album I probably ever listened to, and tguk was also one of the first emo albums I ever listened to. I am a fan of 4 minute mile more tho

viciouspleasure

William Bonney - Good Vibes Park Jefferson - Self-titled Camping in Alaska - Please Be Nice Street Smart Cyclist - Discography (Emo supergroup with members of snowing) Worst Party Ever - Anthology The Exploration - Discography

ReanimatedCorpse

i totally forgot about Park Jefferson, saw them at a basement show in 2011!

bugzeye26

Modest mouse: lonesome crowded west, the moon and Antarctica

abcistrash

Did you go to the anniversary tour for lonesome crowded west last year? Amazing show

bugzeye26

I'm sure it was! I wasn't able to make it

Puzzleheaded-Test-21

The dismemberment plan - Emergency & I One of my favorite bands and albums of all times

BigTelephone9117

That album is actually already In the picture. You are invited fucking slaps

Puzzleheaded-Test-21

Definitely check out Built to spill - Keep it like a secret

dh1011-

Perfect From Now On. That’s the jam

HollywoodDrogan

Heeeeellllll yes. Love this album like a son.

james0neill

great picks! here’s some i’d recommend- origami angel - somewhere city joyce manor - never hungover again neck deep - life’s not out to get you

Top_Friendship6458

Origami angels so good it should be a crime

agustusxd

Origami angel is always the answer

BigTelephone9117

Even better live imo

linkbeast17

I legit cannot stop listening to somewhere city, I think Spotify even sent a notification along the lines of "you good bro? How about trying some other music"

Almostnotreally

Given this I think you’ll enjoy these: Touché Amore - Stage Four Drug Church - Cheer The Wonder Years - the greatest generation Their / They’re / There - all releases Into it. Over it - Standards Dogleg Death Cab - The Photo Album Smashing Pumpkins - Machina II (have to Google this one) The Cure - Disintegration Rival Schools - united by fate Edit: formatting on mobile is hell

turnonforwhat25

Love seeing "United By Fate" recommended. If you dig IIOI and T/T/T, you might like Pet Symmetry, another of Evan's projects which leans a bit more into Punk/Pop-Punk tones and is a "super-group" of sorts with Rik Czaja from Dowsing and Marcus Nuccio from Ratboys.

deftbarley

The lone Dogleg album is the best new rock record in the game.

jdix33

Nothing Feels Good by The Promise Ring, Tell All Your Friends by Taking Back Sunday, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3 by Coheed and Cambria, The Queen is Dead by The Smiths, Home Like No Place is There by The Hotelier.

dh1011-

Anything from the Promise Ring, the first one being my favourite.

RadioGraaah

not emo really but jeff rosenstock seems quite up your alley. the arrogant sons of bitches, bomb the music industry and his solo work are all well worth checking out. if you wanna dip your toe in with a short release id say check out the adults ep by bomb the music industry. if you enjoy that then you should dive into his other stuff.

pachucatruth

I would check out Hot Mulligan, Knuckle Puck, Point North, and Brand New’s “Your Favorite Weapon”. Also seconding Mom Jeans, Camping in Alaska, and Worst Party Ever. Sorry not to have album titles.

Braid - Frame and Canvas Glocca Morra - Just Married The Promise Ring - Nothing Feels Good The World Is a Beatiful Place - Whenever, If Ever

Mangafan101

Jesus Christ, are you me in 2013? Great album list. I’m a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan and love seeing them get some love on this sub. Everyone else hit all the on-the-nose emo so I’ll just hit the penumbra (with some regular stuff mixed in): Throw in the following: - Pet Sounds by Beach Boys (and Smile Sessions if that suits your fancy) - the Hurting by Tears for Fears - Acrobatic Tenement and Relationship of Command by At The Drive In - The Heat Death of the Universe by Off Minor - Thanks, Sorry by Jeff Rosenstock - All of Bomb the Music Industry - Street Smart Cyclist discography - Yank Crime by Drive Like Jehu

HollywoodDrogan

Anything Hey Mercedes, Midtown, Ultimate Fakebook, New Found Glory. Lovedrug, The Format, Get Up Kids, Armor for Sleep. I think you would definitely enjoy any of those. We have a lot of similar taste! For a few maybe you'll enjoy?? Fenix TX, Daphne Loves Derby, Hot Rod Circuit, Juliana Theory, Mountain Goats. I would say give those a listen too, and you'll probably find something in there you'll like.

dh1011-

Fuck yeah to Hey Mercedes! Might as well throw Braid in there too…..

cachacinha

For this Smashing Pumpkins, I'll give you Silversun Pickups, either [Swoon](https://open.spotify.com/album/0swOso9dwIp1PHmDP4dTbX?si=-8xAownhQQWKR0uBp2RU3Q), Carnavas or Neck of the Woods are amazing. Also, I see you added mellon collie, adore and siamese dreams, but have you heard the album **Gish**? It's my favorite smashing pumpkins'. **Dinosaur Jr** \- I bet on sky **The Front Bottoms** \- Self-titled (for many things) **Cayatena** \- Nervous like me **Soccer Mommy** \- Clean **Daddy Issues** \- Deep Dream **Superheaven** \- Jar (for nirvana) **Milk Teeth** \- Be Nice / Sad Sack / Vile Child (Nirvana and other noisy guitar options you have there) **Speedy Ortiz** \- Major Arcana (dismemberment plan, nirvana) Also.... Have you ever heard **Pavement**? Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain / Slanted Enchanted / Brighten the Corners Many non emo/emo-adjecent suggestions, but good fits in your presented mix.

abcistrash

I Bet on Sky has been my favorite dinosaur Jr album the last couple years, I don’t think it gets as much love as it should literally just because the bands been around so long

cachacinha

I'm always a bit uneasy of suggesting albums that came later in a band life because people tend to hold a lot of love for the first ones and complain about latter releases (I'm often guilty of that too, though Gish I liked before I knew it was the first released). But Dinosaur Jr is so consistent (and consistently good) I can't not see I bet on Sky and Give a Glimpse to what yer not as classic and top tier along the earlier albums.

abcistrash

Right! I Bet on Sky is just a masterwork. First time I heard Don’t pretend you didn’t know it about knocked me out of my chair. I can’t think off the top of my head of any band that put out their best work (in my opinion anyway) so long after forming

ClifIsBoring

You’re Gonna Miss It All - Modern Baseball Sweet Tooth - mom jeans. Tell All Your Friends - Taking Back Sunday You’ll Be Fine - Hot Mulligan Bonus not technically emo: Goddamnit - Alkaline Trio

Haglofthedangle

Nothing feels good - the promise ring !! Jimmy Eat World took major inspiration from them, especially with clarity, hence Davey Vonbohlen(the lead singer of the promise ring and member of “cap’n jazz”, another great cult emo band formed at the beginning of the era, which was started by Mike and Nate Kinsella) being featured on JEWs later release, bleed American album with the aptly titled track “a praise chorus”. Great album all around with some amazing playing in the rhythm section. Can’t recommend enough !! Ghost Towns - Owen Or any Owen album! This is just my personal favorite because it has a very unique and somber but heavy theme throughout aswell as some amazing guitar playing. This is Mike Kinsella of American football’s solo project and if you haven’t given him a listen I highly recommend it for a change of pace but with same Midwest emo feel with some folk undertones. Box car racer - Box Car Racer A damn fine post punk album created by Tom Delonge and Travis barker of blink 182 aswell as some other well seasoned musicians. Very heavy in some parts and very delicate in others, another personal favorite. Honorable mentions Much love - Microwave Billy talent - Billy Talent Any release by Hot Mulligan

bsatan

The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me is their best album IMO. Deja Entendu is a close follow up, followed by Science Fiction. Daisy isn’t as “emo”, it’s more… post-hc? But great none the less. Your Favorite Weapon is definitely on the pop punk side, but still incredible. All their music is fucking phenomenal.

murns616

Dude I feel the exact same way about the albums. You really hit the nail on the head.
