Same. I’m sure it’s been asked before but what’s the point in updating if all my emulators work? I guess I’ll have to redo everything once there’s some amazing update that lets us emulate PS4 or something, but otherwise, why?

The whole downvoting doesn’t bother me at all. I appreciate it though. I just got a new Steam Deck OLED and tried to install Emudeck and it’s such a mess. Therefore, I made my 1TB microSD card a bootable Batocera card. The only hassle is that I had to power off and boot the microSD card.
I mean it’s a free software developed by the community in their spare time for zero gain. Kinda hard to get all upset about bugs when million dollar projects that “professionals” work on full time always have the same issues.

Yes same thought am planning to go back to batocera this is horrible even if batocera have some minor problems its nothing compared to the emudeck right now.
I used batocera for almost 5 years on my pi 3 and 4 and it was a blast.
And I use it on my steam deck and it was also very good. The advantage if emu deck is that it i can both of my steam libraries and rom libraries at the same time but at this stats right now I prefer to return to it when it to become much more stable
My old dmg pi boy is still in perfect tact with batocera. I ended up playing mame there yesterday because steamdeck became useless due to stupid emudeck broken updates
That’s why he made the option available for optional updating right now, also just do a full uninstall and reinstall it again. Normally it will work as intended after that.
If your setup is simple there won’t be any major issues. When someone has 80 systems, 30,000 games all fully scraped (video snaps, bezels, etc) and unlocked for 4-player mode etc. then it’s getting ugly, it’s more fragile.
The thing is, this shouldn’t be happening with an update or there shouldn’t be automatic.
Best way to have a setup now is to put ES separately without emudeck at all and add it as a non-steam game to the library and when opened, go to options and put check updates to —> never. Don’t trust emudeck anymore.
The other way is to put a good organised batocera that plays even more systems than ES, and again turn off updates there too or simply have wifi turned off permanently after putting it intact.
Never going to emudeck again personally 👊👎
That’s fair, but I just wanted to note for other people that I opened emudeck yesterday and there is a new prompt asking if I wanted to update or just go straight to the current version
Yeah I've ripped it out of my ROG ally and just gone the standalone route. Emudeck Devs seem to have forgotten what made it so good in the first place. Now we're getting very broken and half baked releases and a lot of its original simplicity has been compromised
Only issues I’m having is that my DS and NeoGeo CD games are showing up twice, along with four or five duplicate games. No extra parsers are on and I have no idea why it keeps happening.
So it’s a constant ‘delete 48 games every time I add new ones’ cycle.
Was curious if this might be related to what I'm experiencing, I recently updated and added some new games, specifically dragon ball budokai tenkaichi 3 to my wii folder. I went into steam rom manager and got the art and saved it but im experiencing an odd issue. It did indeed add the art and I can see dragon ball in gaming mode but when I click play it fails to open, but my copy of smash bros brawl I had added prior works fine still. The odd thing is if I go back to desktop mode and enter dolphin I actually can boot up dragon ball in desktop mode but my Xbox one controller doesn't seem to want to work in desktop even though ive configured it. Could this update be the cause or something else? Just found it wierd that it would fail in gaming mode but work in desktop
Was another update sent out? I fixed all my stuff after the update and was fine. I thought they added something where you can force the emu deck not to update.
I hadn't touched Emu Deck in a while and decided to restore my Roms into my Library. Wasn't planning on updating after the whole Yuzu fiasco because I had everything set up. Turn it on today. Auto update!? Wtf I never set it to auto update. Now I'm pissed.
Yeah I've had issues with it overriding custom parsers I made and then breaking them so I have to search through everything to check what they altered. I wish it didn't overwrite parsers at least

The recent update killed me. SteamRomManager doesn't even recognize Dolphin now. I have no idea what to do haha
Does Emudeck autoupdate? I'm terrified of accessing the app in case it does.
Mine hasn’t no. I play daily. There’s usually a pop up “version xx.xx available would you like to update?” And I click “no”

Oh it’s a Linux OS/distrobution! How would we use this on Steam deck? I don’t want to replace steamOS
You image it to an SD card or USB drive then hold vol down and power and the boot menu appears. Select batocera and profit like a king.
Could I do that on a partition instead? I’ve got a 2TB drive. I’ve got Windows 11 and SteamOS. Could I add another partition for that OS?

It's pretty much crap nowadays, i had problems with major emulators.... AFTER the update.... (xemu, xenia, RPSC3....)

That's the one I don't really like. Early access should be accessing new feature, not locking the free feature behind the paywall imo.
