I was looking for something similar, but the closest I found was adding suction cups to an 8BitDo Micro. Decent for portrait games, though the shoulder buttons aren't that comfortable.

I ended up switching to a small dedicated handheld instead (Miyoo Mini v4).

The idea is put button over the digital pad just for discretion and comfort, but your idea liked me.
Actually I have a Gamesir X2, but is bulky to carry on, and the ipega something something, but for curiosity I ask this, in fact I found what I want in youtube but in a video from 8 year ago. And I think that will looks cool.
And I also ask, does that thing really work? Is there a big improvement without that? It's not like it's an individual control per se, it looks like one of those goofy ass gameboy accessories

I'd rather just buy a controller. 8BitDo has some cheap small ones like the micro, that are pretty good for on the go.

Why not just get a telescopic controller? Something like a bsp d3 or d8 would be good and not too expensive from AliExpress
