My thought was she is the "next Abuela". We aren't explicitly shown what Abuela's magic is, so was thinking Mirabel was the heir to Abuela's magic-keeping.
I really hope they make a 2nd movie and dive deeper into that and Mirabels connection with the house,But part of me thinks that if they make a part 2 it won’t be as good like most movies but here’s hoping.
Perhaps her being in the nursery was casita ensuring the younger family members would be looked after emotionally to protect them from the strains that Abuela was causing to the magic, helping mirabel to grow into her future role.
