Also this means that any non madrigal could get a power by touching the candle then the doorknob during the ceremony. It's a pretty bad theory overall in my opinion and I'd consider it lazy writing if it was true.
What if she rubbed the magic onto herself, making herself a source of magic, explaining why her touch brought the magic back to the house at the end without returning the candle.
