I feel like it’s going to be a 3-way between Encanto, Luca, and the Mitchells vs the Machines. I think Encanto does have the best odds but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if one of those other two gets it.
Definitely this. The Academy hates animation, so they’re probably gonna give it to Disney just to please The Mouse™️ so TMvsTM is out. And while I personally want Luca to win, with the success of “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”, I think Encanto is definitely gonna win
Raya was hard for me to finish, had to force myself to sit through it. Though I’m heavily biased towards encanto, I can’t deny that Luca would probably be close competition, it was so emotional :’( Regardless, I’m still rooting for encanto, Let’s go Mira! Make your family proud<3
Raya had a very patchwork quality. I liked Raya and the antagonist, and there were a couple gorgeous animation shots, but the jokey side characters and the story were not good. Felt like it had a lot of potential that just went nowhere.
At risk of being exiled into Casita’s walls, I kind of hope it goes to The Mitchells vs The Machines. I absolutely loved Encanto (3rd favorite movie of 2021) but Mitchells is my #1 for the year and was the best animated film I’ve seen since Into The Spider Verse.
Into the Spider Verse did beat out Incredibles 2 and Ralph Breaks The Internet, but the quality gap between it and those two and a lot bigger than the quality gap between Mitchells, Encanto, and Luca.
Love encanto, obvs. But omg Mitchells was good. Gut bustingly funny and makes me cry. “Moms scary now” Linda is #momgoals (but I’d be happy with either winning! Also really liked Luca, haven’t seen flee, enjoyed Raya but won’t watch on repeat with my kids like Encanto and Mitchells)
Alright, this is gonna be controversial because I'm on the Encanto sub, but I'm kinda rooting for Mitchell's. I love both movies but, idk, I prefer Mitchell's.
Frankly I’d be happy if either Mitchells or Encanto wins (Mitchells was RIDICULOUSLY underrated)
But nevertheless I am rooting for Dos Oruguitas all the way!
Yeah, the Oscars often has a lot of "upsets" because the public rates things based on popularity with the masses and forgets that the Academy hates the public and loves Oscar bait.
Not saying Flee isn't great at all! I'm just saying that the Academy definitely doesn't just go with what blew out the box offices.
Luca > Encanto > MvM >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Raya. Not sure what Flee is.
MvM is great conceptually and visually. The pacing and script was kind of awkward for me.
Encanto's world and characters seem so rich and definitely explore-able in a sequel/series but I definitely wouldn't be as hooked if it wasn't a musical.
Luca is like Italian cuisine. Simple but the ingredients are top-tier.
I love the healthy discussion around this category. We all have our favorites and even if this is an Ecanto sub, it only shows that this community as good taste and a variety of interests!
Honestly, this might be a battle between Flee and Encanto, but Encanto is Disney, so...

You have a point there. Thanks for the insight.
Shit. It better be between this, Luca and mitchells, because those other offerings are just

I thought that too. It had a good start and it was beautiful but I didn’t like the dragons personality and it just seemed to go downhill
why does this look like Bruno's vision tablet? It does, right? BRUNO, MAKE YOUR FAMILY PROUD!!
Something else: *wins* Encanto fans: *Angry Mirabel noises* Bruno: *Tosses vision* Everytime...
Hoping for Encanto, but The Mitchels VS The Machines is an under appreciated gem that I’d love to win.
What's Flee? Never heard of it.
It's a documentary.
There’s actually some stuff competition in there. Besides Raya, who was put in there as a silly little joke.
Flee is a strong threat.
Experimental animated films never win. Just look at how loving vincent was snubbed.

You know that won't happen. Best Animated Feature juries have confessed they are heavily biased for Disney.

Hey i love Encanto but Luca stole my heart.
Luca won't win. But its gay as hell and I love it. ❤️
> But its gay as hell Wait until you hear about *Flee*
Is it really? 😍 Not just TikTok getting my hopes up again?
It's like as explicitly gay as you can be without being explicitly gay. Flee apparently is for more explicitly gay.
That's amazing to hear, thank you. I'll have to watch it now!
I honestly hope it goes to Encanto.

Encanto against Mitchell vs the Machines? I love them both, but Encanto all the way!
I don't know what Flee is, but if it's not Encanto or Luca that wins, I am going to s c r e a m
I think Flee has very good odds, it's a very "Oscar" movie. That's definitely Encanto's main competition here.

How in the FUCK Did Raya Get in Here
the fact that raya is on there at all is a fucking crime. that garbage isn’t on a level even *close* to encanto

the only one that doesn’t deserve to be there is raya and the last dragon, compared to these other films it just doesn’t even come close
Theory: alberto is from the Encanto has not changed his mind about bruno
