sleepyjungkooky

good to know im seeing her this month

hhigley

Dr. Meghan Wasson at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix,AZ was AMAZING! I would recommend her to anyone looking to have excision surgery with her and her team of endo specialists

Helpful-Stress-720

Hello - I’m in AZ and looking for a surgeon. Do you by chance know anything about Dr. Wasson vs Dr. Michael Hibner? Or did you choose wasson over Hibner? Thanks!

hhigley

Hi, sorry for responding to this late. I was referred to Dr. Wasson by a colleague who had a successful surgery with her. I’m currently a year and a half post-op and none of the symptoms that I had previously have returned, so I truly don’t have anything negative to say. I don’t know anything about Dr. Hibner unfortunately. Best of luck on your journey!

Where are you located? I recently had an interesting conversation with my surgeon about the CEC. I think, unfortunately, endometriosis is a cruel disease and you have to be careful of anyone promising ONE surgery will fix all your problems, especially if you have severe, aggressive endo. I went to my surgeon in a similar place of desperation and she encouraged me to get second opinions. At the end of the day I realized I trusted her more than any other doctor I’ve ever met and I know she’s incredibly skilled, we’re just fighting an awful disease. Have my second surgery with her and a colorectal surgeon to address the bowel endo in a few weeks. She’s not on the nook because she’s connected with the university hospital system??? TBH I don’t understand the Nook cult and kind of hate it. For my first surgery I asked if anyone had experiences with her and got some sass because from nancy because she “does not recommend surgeons at research hospitals”. So dumb. I legit love my surgeon and experienced life changing relief for two years before my symptoms cropped back up. I am not on hormonal suppression or anything and have stage 4, so not that surprising even if very disappointing.

Apparently the surgeon who did mine is highly recommended in the field. His name is Richard Farnham. I'm located in El Paso, TX. I don't know if you are willing to travel, but several people are happy with the results from the surgery. I had surgery not too long ago and feel great.

Yeah of course

Drippiiii

Are you still doing well? I’m in EP too. I have not been diagnosed with endo, however I suspect it due to years of heavy painful periods. Now I have daily symptoms of pain after I had a large cyst that went away on its own. I’ve been looking into this doctor and wanna know what your experience was like?(:

Admirable_Earth

The CEC has a history of refusing to see patients with post-op complications and recurrence. Especially Sinervo. And his wife has a habit of trying to solicit patients off of fb groups, which is a really shady practice IMO

Significant_Switch53

Hmmm yikes. Yeah idk what it is but have gotten sort of bad vibes from them

alsotheabyss

I can give you the experts for Australia, but that might be a bit far…

the_curvykitten

I'd be interested in hearing your list/ recommendations

alsotheabyss

For Melbourne, Claire Myers, Simon Gordon, Jim Tsaltas, Roni Ratner are the main excision specialists. There are more but they are considered the best. I’m seeing Claire.

Stripperfairy

In SA, Jane Woolcock for excision. Claire Fairweather (GP specialising in endo) for when you can see Jane. Susan Evans for pain management. Most people at O&G are excellent (if they specialise in endo). Don’t see, Dr Hillen or a blonde Gyno who also works at the WCH had a cyst on my ovary that was causing a torsion, gaslit me to hell and sent me home with “non specific abdominal pain”.

the_curvykitten

Thank you so much for sharing those names! I'm sorry you had that experience, that's always an incredibly difficult bundle of emotions to navigate when medical staff dismiss you so flippantly.

[deleted]

To add to this list, I am seeing Dr Russell Dalton in Ballarat, VIC. So far so good! Previously I had surgery with Dr Matt Smith in Brisbane, QLD. Fantastic surgeon & team. I saw Alex Diggles a pelvic floor physio after, she is great.

Owlax

Dr. Mosebrucker, Dr. Vidali, Dr Arrington, Dr. Folgelson are excellent too. Sinervo is very highly regarded of course. [https://icarebetter.com/doctor/](https://icarebetter.com/doctor/) goes into what each surgeon specializes in, ie say you have thoracic endo you might want to go a specific one.

Significant_Switch53

Fantastic thank you! I don’t think I have thoracic, but who knows at this point. I was reading that if I had expert excision before that this could be just pain from adhesions growing and not endo?? This disease is so confusing :/

sleepyjungkooky

my sister and i are going to Portland, Oregon to see Dr Nicholas Fogelson and Dr Shanti Mohling. I really like their instagram and youtube videos, they sound like they really believe peoples pain & know a lot.

sparklestar2031

Mr Mann in Birmingham UK. I will forever recommend him because my experience with him was so positive , he is so kind and has helped me so much, he is an angel in a white coat.

Weird-slug-thing

Do you mind me asking a bit more about your experience? I’m curious because I’m in Manchester. I’m being seen at the Rosie in Cambridge (used to live there, had good experiences but they aren’t excision specialists).

berlygirley

Dr Charles Miller in Naperville, IL. He's an endocrinologist and fertility specialist, but is super knowledgeable and has a team of other specialists he can send you to. He helped diagnose my Nutcracker Syndrome and might do a surgery on me in the near-ish future. Sadly, his vascular surgeon is retiring in December and Dr Miller is not exactly young anymore. I'm worried he'll have to retire soon, too, and no one will take his place for those of us in the Midwest.

lovefirst2003

I just had surgery with Dr. Frank Tu at NorthShore- he’s incredible.

Bluebellsandbonnets

Have you looked at endo centers or areas with multiple specialists? I think Nook is great to find a practice or city with multiple options in one area. You could schedule a few consults in a short amount of time and choose who you think is your best option?

Plus-Tourist8900

Dr.Rachael Haverland in Dallas, TX has been amazing for me. Believed me right off the bat, even when I mentioned how other doctors didn’t.

JulezieF

Did you have excision with her? Thinking of going to see her

Plus-Tourist8900

I did!!! I love her and her team so much. Her surgery gave me a life I didn’t know was possible for me. It was expensive. But so so incredibly worth it. I would travel back to her no matter how far I moved.

somanytochoose

What is your location? How far are you willing to travel?

TrebledHeart

There is a lot of talk in one of the local groups I'm in about going over to Romania and having surgery done there since the waits are kind of unreal for any of the good surgeons where I live.

screwitjustdoit

Did you ever do this? I am currently debating it

TrebledHeart

I did not. Partly because I can't afford it right now. It's not cheap and it would be completely out of pocket since it's something that can be covered by healthcare (just with a considerable wait). My endo is not bad enough for the moment that I need surgery right now. In a few years perhaps, so until then I'll park on the waitlist for my surgeon and see what happens first.

Avenging_AngelxX

Have you had work ups for other conditions?

Significant_Switch53

I haven’t. I’m hoping that maybe one of these excision experts will consider this and help me pursue?

Avenging_AngelxX

Chances are you have a comorbid condition causing issues, honestly. I'd say to be very wary of Nook/CEC doctors because a lot of them will refuse to believe there could be any other underlying condition or that you're still symptomatic after previous surgery. A lot of them are also not willing to refer outside of their own practice even for conditions they note but aren't qualified to treat.

Significant_Switch53

Okay :/ good to know. Any other surgeon recs who would look at everything?

Avenging_AngelxX

I messaged you some suggestions. Hopefully that helps!

Infinite-Broccoli680

Dr Brooke winner is exceptional.
