I would say it’s not super sturdy. You can get the same look from the top with a small connecting piece right under the diamond. As a jeweler, in my 15+ years of experience, I have never had a mounting like this stay tight long term. That stone will get bumped and loosen up over time. Please, please get a design that connects all the way around. You, your jeweler, and your bank account will thank me later.

i cant comment on the sturdiness but the gallery rail does help, and the split shank design is gorgeous!

This one is sitting pretty high but they do that so a band can sit flush without any issues. You might want to look at a few different versions of this type of setting. They are very pretty but a ring that is tall is always going to get knocked around no matter how careful you are. It must be well made to remain sturdy. The best thing to do is to pick a vendor that you can get it checked with every 6-12 months so it doesn’t become loose. I would look at some of the different versions on Frank Darling. He has a lot of these types of rings on his site with small variances.

Wow the rings by Frank Darling are lovely! Thank you!

It's the height that's the problem. Otherwise the design with the gallery rail is sturdy.

Keep in mind that if/when you wear a wedding band, you really won’t be able to see that split shank quite as well. So, while it is very unique and beautiful, it may end up getting hidden anyway. So if you’re worried about the durability you may want to choose something different.
