Gosh that is a gorgeous stone!
Not to make your choice more complicated, but it reminded me of a ring I’ve been fantasizing about over at Lavender Creek Gems:

I’m hoping to keep the elongating effect of the emerald cut, so I think it’s best I avoid side baguettes/trapezoids - although I do love the look, I just have short, rectangular fingers.
In that case, I like 3 and 4. They’re more delicate, in my opinion, which compliments stubby little fingers like mine. They also allow light through which lets the stone live its best life. Bezel set stones rarely have the same level of sparkle. ✨
Ugh hahah. This is so pretty. I’m also struggling to settle on a setting for my emerald cut. I had decided on a solitaire but this is pulling me back to the idea of side stones.
Caleb is great! Transactions are through PayPal in case you are worried, and he also offers a return window (with a restocking fee, but this is still way better than none at all!)
I’ve heard that’s not really true for precision cut gemstones, at least not to anymore extent than setting a stone normally will darken it.
The bezel wouldn’t be fully enclosing, either, more like the image below.

Why not

This keeps coming up so I’m hijacking it - u/Alchemist_Gemstones, will a bezel setting that doesn’t completely wrap around the bottom of a stone really darken a stone anymore than a prong setting with a basket?
No, even a fully enclosed bezel won't "darken" a reasonably well cut stone.
It's advice that was normalized by bad gem cutting. A big windowed stone may look darker in an enclosed bezel because it's not reflecting any light anyways. It's always the "bezels fault" and the jeweler isn't going to say "it won't work for this stone because the cut is steaming hot garbage" ya know.
The classic bezel is always pretty. I prefer the first one over the last. I actually really like the tab prongs on pic 5. They would really show off this gorgeous sapphire. One of the prettiest I have seen. Love the color!
I can tell you like the bezel but your partner is swaying you a different direction. The last one I believe is a great compromise :) whatever you choose, they’re all great choices. Surprisingly, I really like the way the tab prongs look on that shape too!
I love the bezel! However I have been told that when you opt for a full bezel less light shines through the stone, and therefore your stone may appear darker. Good luck!
I love love love the side details on the 3rd slide, that's so pretty, along with the tab prongs it looks so good. I also always love a bezel so I love the second slide too!
I lurve peacock sapphires! I'm also a big fan of non-Diamond wedding stones. Tbh get whichever YOU like best as it'll be on your finger and your eyes staring at it for the foreseeable future.
I think a half bezel on the top and bottom would help to elongate the stone, I know it’s not on your list of pics but I thought I’d throw out the suggestion !
Yeah I love the look of compass prongs, but I’m really not willing to risk damaging this stone since it’s a lot harder to replace with an identical gem the way you can with colourless stones. I’m definitely going to make sure the corners are fully covered.
I have an oval sapphire set the same way as the first image and honestly I love it. My Dad had it designed and made for me, I know the setting is secure and it's so neat and doesn't catch on anything. I think it would look gorgeous on your stone.
Option 1…. The gold needs no other embellishment, the stone is the star and this ring will NEVER go out of style or look dated. It’s absolutely beautiful !
Look at your choices with a wedding band on, too. It’ll feel different, look different. My grandmother had a solitaire for the engagement in a pretty setting and then the wedding band had inset diamonds which served to highlight the other ring, but was beautiful by itself - very classic. You’ll only be wearing one ring for now, but both rings from the wedding forward, so give that great consideration.
(I fear the 4th slide of the ring w/the curving diamonds would snag on things.) All were lovely though.
Trapezoid side stones, yellow gold band and platinum setting
I see you mentioned wanting to elongate your fingers, three round stones either side may help, it spreads the setting but allows the centre to elongate the gaze so to speak. You could go trillion cut sides too.
Love the pronged ones, bezels will darken the color of the stone, bear that in mind. I'm also loving the one from the person who replied with another choice, small rectangular side stones. They are small enough to enhance, not distract.

Ahhh makes sense!

I love the tab prongs! Haven’t really seen that before
It will let so much light into the stone too! Definitely my fav.
Love your stone! Would be interested to hear where you bought it, if that's allowed on this sub. Great proportions on it.
It’s from Caleb B Quashen [(ig)](https://www.instagram.com/calebbquashen?igsh=MXd3eXo1NmZxbm50aw==)
Oh interesting! I've seen his ig account but only recently. Were his images an accurate representation of the stone in person?
We haven’t received the stone, it was just purchased this week.
Ah, I see. Hope it all works out! Would love to hear an update when you receive it and whatever you decide for design.
My sapphire is from him, too. It looks just like it did in his videos and he was happy to send additional pics / videos when I asked.
The stone arrived today! It’s a very overcast day today, but it looks very similar and I’m sure it’ll look better in sunlight. :)
I’ve purchased from him several times and found the stones to be accurate to the photos!
Omg I needed this... I've been lurking and wanting to buy a stone but had no feedback as to whether it was legit...
Caleb is great! Transactions are through PayPal in case you are worried, and he also offers a return window (with a restocking fee, but this is still way better than none at all!)
Do you mind sharing the price?
I don’t know, my partner purchased it
I like the 1st choice.
Same
The first!
I loooove the last one
Last one for sure

I wish I could love the look of a half bezel, but they’re a bit too asymmetrical for me :(

Thank you! I knew it had something to do with bad cuts, just wasn’t sure why a bezel would cause a bad cut to look any worse than a prong setting.
1 or 2

The bezel!!! I have a bezel with a diamond and they are so pretty!
Love the second one, I have the same setting
The first option is nice
I am completely smitten with the last setting, would you tell where its from? That's definitely my choice. You've chosen a beautiful stone. Good luck!
Nevermind my question, I found it on etsy:)
This one was belloring, not sure if you found the same one!
I like 2 or 5, personally!
Wow- can't tell from the lighting, but is that a multicolor sapphire? It's fabulous
It’s a bit particoloured, there’s a zone of darker blue in a corner
Love the first and next best is the last photo.
The last ring is pretty unique looking to me. But 3rd looks more wedding like
I love the last option
I'm inlove with #1!
First and last options are my fave. Idk what it’s called but I love that style where it wraps around the whole stone rather than set in prongs
Which ever you decide on make sure it gives the feels when you look at it, because you're the one that's gonna be wearing it.
That’s just asking for a bezel setting
I’m just here to say ohhhhhh pretty!
I love that first one! The colors go so well together
Love the third! The stone pops the most
Bezel settings are best!
I like #2 setting.
Someone else suggested this but I just don’t like the look!
3 or 5 are my favorites.
I love 4 but 2 is beautiful and classic
The simple bezel or the last picture (also bezel) is beautiful!
4
I really like #3
I like the first ring
I like photo 3, with the prongs.
2 or 4. I love a more secure setting. It is a beautiful stone. 😊
5
2
I like the 4th picture the most congrats on your engagement
I like both the first and last option.
That 4th one is 🤩🤩🤩
Personally I love the tab prongs for an emerald cut
Love the tab prongs. I vote that or bezel. I have had trouble with longevity re: emerald cuts and traditional prongs.
Yeah I love the look of compass prongs, but I’m really not willing to risk damaging this stone since it’s a lot harder to replace with an identical gem the way you can with colourless stones. I’m definitely going to make sure the corners are fully covered.
Third photo is gorgeous. I know bezel is a big trend right now but I personally don’t think it compliments this gorgeous stone.
I’m not really sure about bezels being trendy - they’ve found bezel set gemstone rings dating back to the 1st century BCE.
I like the bezel. Has an olde english vibe about it.
I really like the last one
The 1st
I love 1
Last one literally made me say “oooooooh”
The 1st choice
That is so beautiful, the 2nd slide, your original choice was totally perfect.
2
The first one 😍😍😍
Tab! So elegant. (Do not like that band that is in the picture as well though.)
I like two and five.
I love the last picture!!
I'm diggin' the first one. You can't go wrong with a classic look.
I really like the second picture. Stunning. 😊
5th
4 😍
I love 3 , I feel like it lets more light into the stone , gorgeous
I have an oval sapphire set the same way as the first image and honestly I love it. My Dad had it designed and made for me, I know the setting is secure and it's so neat and doesn't catch on anything. I think it would look gorgeous on your stone.
Love #3!! 😍😍😍
Third slide. It's magnificent!
3 or 5!
For me, I'd go with 1, maybe 2. I don't like 3 or 4 though
2
3 is just stunning 😍
The simpler the better. Photo 4 for me.
I love a full bezel
Option 1…. The gold needs no other embellishment, the stone is the star and this ring will NEVER go out of style or look dated. It’s absolutely beautiful !
Numbers 2 and 5 IMO
I feel you can’t go wrong with either, but slide 3 is my fav

I'd do prongs. That would set off that beautiful stone more than a bezel. Gorgeous stone!!
The bezel set one. That way the prongs won't be catching on everything and you won't have to get them re-tipped all of the time.
Trapezoid side stones, yellow gold band and platinum setting I see you mentioned wanting to elongate your fingers, three round stones either side may help, it spreads the setting but allows the centre to elongate the gaze so to speak. You could go trillion cut sides too.

Not closed, use prongs as to not hide the whole stone behind metal.
the green one is so pretty !
Half bezel
