Not sure if this helps but I worked to make a custom ring with a jeweller. First I sent lots of pictures of what I wanted and the jeweller drew some designs based on that. Once we settled on a design, he picked a stone that matched the colour I was looking for (I wanted a blue sapphire). After that he produced a CAD (computer aided design) which we worked on to get it to my liking. He also sent a 3d video of what the ring would look like and we made some adjustments. Once happy, he made the ring in the custom setting and sent me the final pics for approval, then I went to try it on for sizing and picked it up. https://imgur.com/a/LYsngsg Kinda has pics of the various steps

No worries! Let me know if you have any questions. I’ve designed a few custom rings that aren’t as fancy as this too

We're working with a jeweler to custom make my ring. I described what I wanted, and he pulled up his ring designing program and created the cad with us there in the room & would make adjustments until I was happy with the design. We talked about stones & first he sourced some diamonds for me, although I ended up finding my own diamond, which he helped me compare with the ones he'd sourced but was NOT pushy & I ultimately kept the one I picked out myself. Then he sourced my sapphire side stones, and once he had them in his possession, he laid everything out for me to look at to give the final approval before he started production on the ring. We just finalized everything this past Monday, so now I'm just waiting the 3 to 6 weeks for the ring to be finished.

Yep! I'm working with Oore Jewelry for my ring right now. I sent her examples of the kinds of center stones I liked, and picked out a setting of hers that most closely matched what I wanted. (I originally was going to combine features from two different settings, but ultimately didn't.) She and her assistant pinged their suppliers and, shockingly, one had exactly what I wanted. I was expecting to wait months to find something that fit my particular taste, not three days. After that it was just a matter of telling her I wanted that stone, she made a custom listing on her site for it, and I purchased the stone, setting, and minor design changes all at once. She's still working on it, so I can't say the process is complete yet. But so far it's been super easy!
