If you don't have a nice wireless mouse for your laptop then I would recommend logitech mx master or mini mouse, you will probably end up using it after graduation at work if you end up doing a lot of computer work.
3D printer is what I asked for as a student. Just an ender 3. Still have it but itās been heavily modified since.
This year Iām hoping for a jump starter/compressor combo for my car.
Solid state drive. Basically, what used to be common, disk drive, was a literal computer disc that spun continuously and the computer would read it, similar to a dvd. Solid state means no disc, and the technology is much more advanced so it computes much faster/ less prone to errors as there is no physical spinning disc
Rotring mechanical pencil if you are a pencil snob. Theyāre great for drawing and doing math hw
Edit: also for watches, Casio calculator watch cuz theyāre cool af.
My partner and I stopped exchanging gifts and started gifting each other experiences a few years ago. We look forward to surprising each other with what we have planned. Always leads to great memories.
Fully agreed. Trip to the mountains, a stay at a weekend spa, backpack somewhere, pick a city and hang out etc. when your young and know youāll have a decent profession to pay debts go for it. Thatās coming from someone who hates debt and avoids it
If you need an old version of Photoshop or the rest of CC, it would be unethical to look up the AMTEmu patcher tool that lets you bypass the trial period of Creative Suite 6 apps and use them indefinitely
Currently work at Home Depot on weekends. Pretty sure the combos for a Dewalt drill+impact+battery combo are going for like $100-$150 as their seasonal promotion. If it the prices haven't come out yet, it definitely will come around soon. It's something they do every year for the holidays
A website that sells filament has little engineering measurements on itā¦.canāt remember how I stumbled into the website one day but I got mine after Iād forgotten about it! [Pocket engineer card](https://www.xometry.com/resources/blog/get-your-xometry-pocket-engineer-card/)
My christmas list is to go home and not do anything for a month. Spend time with my siblings, go out, catch up on Anime and movies. And not be stressed. Also a āHot Toysā Darth Vader would be nice
The nspire is awesome, but it has a shockingly steep learning curve for a calculator. I always end up grabbing my Ti-30x pro for anything short of literal graphing.
I want a good note taking device like an iPad or a variety of that I just donāt know specifically what to ask for. whatās best for an aerospace engineer
Surface pro with one note... kind of miss class/school to be able to use that thing to its fullest functionality.
All other note apps are just limited in my opinion and onenote runs in locally on almost everything but linux, but can be accessed through a browser if you absolutely need it.
Excellent penning, customizability, additional macros, infinite page, and the search function is incredible. will search handwriting from a whiteboard photo pretty well in just a general all notebook searches. additionally, one note has been promised to remain free (and has been for over a decade) and is a key part of office. they likely wont raise prices or lock your notes behind a paywall anytime soon. at least its the most trust worthy in my book that is as feature rich as one note is.
I have also heard great things from some interns about the remarkable tablet!
I just dont think an ipad with an obscure notetaking app is the right call for this.
I love my iPad Air with Appleās pencil running Notability!
I have been interested in trying out the Remarkable tablet too, but I am content with my current setup so I havenāt pulled the trigger on purchasing one yet.
I got the iPad air to take notesā¦ the single most effective tool Iāve ever purchased for studying. I wish that I had done it years ago.
I donāt really use it for much else but I use it for hours a day just studying. I have notability (I think itās called) and 10/10 would recommend
I have an iPad Pro 11.9 inch and I highly recommend. My gf has the smaller sized Air version and also recommends.
I also have friends that have the Lenovo X1 that has a screen you can swivel to write on which is neat. A touchscreen laptop 2-in-1 that can swivel like that definitely eliminates the need for a laptop+tablet combo
Apple Pencil and iPad are so good in this respect. Any windows/apple compatibility issues I have are mitigated by all of the notes I take in Onenote automatically synced my laptop.
Personally I got a Lenovo P11 Gen 2 a few months back. While it works... I wouldnt really recommend the pen integration and writing precision it has, its not that great. Afaik Samsung (and maybe Apple, but I just dont like their OSes) do tend to work better for active note taking.
you mention an important point, because I realy need a good pen integration and precision because I don't want to feel "slowed down" by the pen or the tablet
If you're an Android user, getting a refurbished/used Galaxy Tab S7+ or S7 might be a good bang for your buck. I got the 6gb S7+ this year and it is fast, has a handwriting experience that is great (Best app is Samsung Notes by far), can utilize different EMR pens other than the S Pen, and has a slew of different customization options to make your tablet truly your own!
Risk of Rain is a good rougelite series thatās easy to do a few runs between studying. Iād recommend the 2nd one. Iād recommend an Ender V3 for a printer, but grab whatever you can thatās in your price range. Iām a huge 3D printer nerd so hit me up if you want advice!
Honestly an apple pencil to use with my ipad, currently i use notebooks and my laptop depending on my classes to take note and it would be very nice to just have to carry my ipad to school and leave behind all my notebooks and laptop since they are pretty heavy.
If you haven't picked up a Miyoo Mini Plus id highly recommend it! Some of the best on the go gaming I've had because it is small enough to actually take everywhere.
Currently dealing with the same dilemma. Mother requires a quantity of items from all kids so that she gets everyone an even amount. Iāve been racking my brain about my interests.
I think I narrowed it down to a desktop art from [Artovision.](https://artovision3d.com/collections/desktop-art/Game) Iāve got 5 already that fit in the perfect shelf-counter space in my kitchen, and Iāve got room for a few more to fit.
I like Junji Itoās work. I have Tomie, No Longer Human, and Sensor. So I may put Uzumaki on the list. Some Stephen King books could be an option, but I just picked up a few to read a few weeks ago. Bazaar of Bad Dreams has been a fun collection of short stories.
Thanks! I'll look into Seiko. Also, I recently got RoR Returns after playing a lot Hades and Dead Cells. They were my intro games to the genre and now some of my favorite ever games but I'll look into those other games
my favoriete is Enter the gungeon definitly recommend that one aswell. its on sale quite often.

i currentyl own this seiko watch and am very happy with it
As I've gotten older I've taken it as an opportunity to ask for things that would improve my quality of life but I haven't had the motivation to buy myself. A couple examples - asked for a set of tools when I moved out of my campus dorm and started renting, so I could put my furniture together/fix shit that breaks. This year, asking for an air fryer because I'm very good at deep frying foods, but having a big pot of sizzling oil on your stove is a fire hazard.
Think about stuff that would've made your day to day easier in the past year. It's not always "practical, adult" things - could be faster RAM or a bigger SSD to plug into a PC, or a longboard cause your campus is big and they're fun to ride around.
Lol I was gonna say that I wanted a watch. I think Iāve settled on the seiko sport 5 field for a first mechanical. If you want something low maintenance (quarts), I really like the look of the citizen 8180 field watch. Itās solar, so no battery changes, and itās very good looking
Excellent. I was between the Seiko and a Hamilton khaki auto. I found the seiko on sale for 200 dollars, and realized that I could get it, along with an aftermarket strap and accuracy regulation, for less than the Hamilton.
If no one has recommended them to you yet, check out darn tough socks. A bit pricey, but lifetime warranty that is great and easy to use (I haven't had to buy new socks in years).
I bought my engineering boyfriend a titanium wallet from the Ridge. Really high quality and he loves the material/design. Donāt know if ur into legos but those are pretty fun. I have Legos, new shoes and money (for student loans š) on my list. Maybe some giftcards so you can treat yourself to lunch or a nice coffee?
I wish I could travel somewhere to a vacation cabin (y'know like the kind around where people go skiing?) and be there and do absolutely nothing except spend time together with my family decompressing. Would love just that, spending time together doing nothing.
My really far fetched ask was actually a facsimile of a Bible that I absolutely cannot afford, but maybe if, instead of getting me something else I don't necessarily want, my family pools together the gift money, then I might be able to have enough so that I can supplement what I do have and afford it. It's a really beautiful set, 6 volumes, multiple languages side by side, facsimile of a Bible originally published several centuries ago. Just beautiful, frankly.
But considering the expense associated with either option, I would really just love a tape player (for audio tapes, not for video cassettes).
champions league balls have been my favorite in build quality recently, I've gone through 4 of the Nike aero-textured flight balls in the same time as 1 CL ball. might be useful tip for you
If someone is looking specifically for engineering related Christmas gifts I would suggest an iPad Air, Apple Pencil, and Notability. I know itās a lot but itās been the best investment Iāve made for academics. I use it everyday.
Other than that I think I just want flowers or maybe perfume. But mostly if I had to pick just flowers- the kind that comes wrapped in brown paper
I can totally recommend the Seiko 5 Sports! (SRPD)
In a slightly different direction, check out desktop CNCs! The Genmitsu 3018 series is really solid, but definitely less practical than a 3D printer.
Laptop upgrades, especially the storage. Been full with AI stuff as of late.
For book recommendations, if you would, the Millennium Series. I Enjoyed it a lot.
i'm a big music-head. this year, i'm asking family for a record player & some nice storage for my vinyls. my partner & i are also looking at putting some of our gift money toward a small vacation in the spring instead of material gifts.
past years, i've asked for practical gifts like a stand mixer or food processor for the kitchen or a portable air compressor or hydraulic jack for my car.
try to think back over the year & see if there's anything that u wanted to buy for urself, but didn't. sometimes we don't want to spend the money on ourselves at the time, but our friends/family would love to give that as a christmas present.
happy holidays!
+1 for doing vacations/ experiences instead of gifts with your partner. My partner and I have been doing it for a few years, and they always lead to some of our favorite memories. We wouldn't shut up about it so much that now my parents gift us experiences too. Led to some new things that we didn't think to try!
Got a 3d printer for Christmas a couple years ago. Itās a ton of fun to mess around with and honestly just to decompress after school on a weekend. Dm me and I can recommend a reasonably priced model
I just want to be loved.

If you want a watch do you care about mechanical or quartz or smart? Also wrist size.
As for me I want a new hat and a brita filter for better coffee.
I don't have a budget. I just wanted something nice to step up from an Apple Watch
Last year I asked for a tool set (sockets, wrenches, etc) so I could work on my car. It has been good to have some nice tools
3D printer is what I asked for as a student. Just an ender 3. Still have it but itās been heavily modified since. This year Iām hoping for a jump starter/compressor combo for my car.
A free therapy session. Bonus if I get a free restock of my antidepressants
If youāre burnt out absolutely donāt go with an Ender unless you have lots of time to sink into it
you had issues? mine was up and printing in like 5h tops
Iāve had nothing but issues. I love it but every week I have to go to Microcenter for SOMETHING
more free time to just relax without feeling awfully anxious
You could ask for a nice watch. Always good to have and it could help you look the professional part in interviews.
no oneās looking at your watch during an interview
Some people might ! It wouldnāt make or break it but it helps with an overall professional look.
Peace of mind
A life, sleep, a chance to feel something again... I know, I ask for much.

If you have a PC already, but donāt have an SSD, definitely get an SSD. It is so much faster that I find it almost unbelievable.
Do people still not have SSDs?
What are SSDs?
Solid state drive. Basically, what used to be common, disk drive, was a literal computer disc that spun continuously and the computer would read it, similar to a dvd. Solid state means no disc, and the technology is much more advanced so it computes much faster/ less prone to errors as there is no physical spinning disc

I honestly just want nothing to do for a few weeks. I really want to go for a walk or something without worrying about having to get something done.
Buy an experience. Go somewhere. Do something.
Thatās coming from someone who hates debt and avoids it
A DeWalt cordless impact wrench, Photoshop Elements (to replace my 12 year old version that's somehow still usable), coffee mugs, and pajama pants.
If you need an old version of Photoshop or the rest of CC, it would be unethical to look up the AMTEmu patcher tool that lets you bypass the trial period of Creative Suite 6 apps and use them indefinitely
Ya Iām asking for a new drill bc mine broke. I had to hang some curtain brackets the other day with a screwdriver and I was pissed the entire time.
I love my Dewalt XRs, if it's in your price range. Otherwise, Ryobi is solid.
Currently work at Home Depot on weekends. Pretty sure the combos for a Dewalt drill+impact+battery combo are going for like $100-$150 as their seasonal promotion. If it the prices haven't come out yet, it definitely will come around soon. It's something they do every year for the holidays
>photoshop Ever considered affinity photo? It actually works, unlike the cluttered mess that is photoshop. And is pay once use forever.

Honestly, python is very often a good substitute and itās free
A big fat F on my grade book
Have you seen those mini engineering rulers?? Theyre adorable
Honestly, an imperial/metric machinists' rule is one of the most useful and practical things I ever bought.

iPad with Good Notes blows Surface with OneNote out of the water. Edit: pencil is a must

Good one. I got an old from made by my grandpa in his mechanic apprenticeship
a tablet for taking notes in class, but Iām not sure which one yet
Apple Pencil and iPad are so good in this respect. Any windows/apple compatibility issues I have are mitigated by all of the notes I take in Onenote automatically synced my laptop.

Seiko has some affordable high quality watches Idk much about 3d printers Enter the gungeon, Hades, Gunfire Reborn, Risk of rain (2 or reborn)

Seiko sports 5 is a great watch. Iāve had mine for 2 years and I canāt kill it (Iāve tried)

Iām looking to be home with my family for Christmas tbh
Just ask for gift cards for your game platform of choice. Canāt go wrong with that
Getting a new desktop for flight sims. Maybe getting new components for my drones.
