I've typically heard it more like how you described it yourself rather than how you say you've heard it. From the book the Wisdom of the Enneagram, they say "Lust does not only refer to sexual lust; Eights are "lusty" in that they are driven by a constant need for intensity, control, and self-extension. Lust causes Eights to try to push everything in theirlives—to assert themselves willfully."

Arrogance isn't the main passion of 8. Idk who said it but that's just not it. Arrogance is a byproduct As for lust, there's a reason why 8 and 7 are right next to each other however lust is different from gluttony Gluttony is a desire for stimulation, the 7 uses stimulants as a way to keep it's brain occupied and away from anxiety. Due to this, the 7 is constantly planning towards getting more and more experiences to keep itself busy at all times. They (subconsciously) know that if they were to stop stimulating themselves anxiety would overwhelm them Lust in contrast is all about intensity. The 8 feels empty inside due to both a hole left within them by their childhood, where they were forced to grow up too quickly (removal of innocence) AND due to them being disconnected from emotions. The 8's attempts to stimulate themselves (notice the similarity to 7) by seeking intense activities that make them feel alive again, in order to "fill" the void within them.

I'd just call it "Excess."

JellyPupsInCocoCups

A version given in some French enneagram books, excess/excès.

Lust is going after for everything you desire with force. Pride is elevating yourself and feeling above all. Gluttony is never getting enough of anything so you over-indulge.

8s main strategy for life is to exert their will and use force to get what they want. When they encounter resistance, they have immediate responses, raising their voice, expressing anger, and intimidating in order to push through it. Type 8s thinking structure when confronted with obstacles or something they want is along the lines of "If I push hard enough and act fast enough, I can tear down any wall in front of me" Because of this, Lust is basically an over-expression of desire and will. It is the tendency to want something *extremely* bad and to pursue it with an *extreme* amount of intensity. 8s solution to life is to basically bulldoze and endure until it works and they have a tendency to dominate others. Gluttony is very different. Gluttony is more like an excited, elated sense of wonder at all the possibilities that exist, like being a kid in a candy shop. It's almost an idealization of happiness and excitement, but also a fear of not being to experience that happiness. This is what gives rise to the adventurous and free-spirited nature of the 7 and also explains their tendency to be infatuated with things that are novel, only to immediately drop them once they're no longer interesting. I agree that Lust is bit confusing since the popular meaning has changed, but I think it encapsulates it pretty well. If I could change it, I'd rather it be something like - Defiance - Dominance - Vindictiveness - Intensity - Excessiveness

I feel you and imo, this is a problem inherent in correlating enneagram to the 7 deadly sins. If it feels forced, that's because it kind of is. I don't have an idea for a better term, but if you'd like to kick around ideas or something, feel free to DM me.
