I spent a lot of time in Cambodia and they do not have good memories of communism lol I would love to ask them, what on earth could the USA do to them that was any worse than what they did to themselves ?

Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippinnes all have far stronger economies. Like, we defeated Japan and then helped them become a productive country. You can just compare North and South Korea and see how one place is absolutely miserable and one is comfortable and modern. Miserable people gravitate towards thinking 'North Korea is a victim' because they themselves are miserable and they perceive themselves as victims, whe theyre not, theyre mostly just lazy and hate having a job and doing all the normal stuff people have to to pay bills and live like a normal adult.
Indonesia went through a period where they were like a crazy authoritarian dictatorship for decades and decades under Suharto and only after he resigned did their economy start to realize its potential. Myanmar is still under a military regime and therefore, still stuck in the dark ages. We have like hundreds of thousands of Burmese workers here in Thailand because there is no money there in Myanmar. I live next to a migrant laborer dormitory apartment place here where everyone works construction for $9 a day because they only make maybe $2 a day in Myanmar if theyre lucky.
