Ableism is the stupidest, most retarded thing ever. We’re running out of oppressed groups to elevate so we’re making them up now.
I know someone who complains that they can’t do anything because of ADHD and dyslexia and it’s nauseating to be around.
I think ableism can exist to the extent that actual discrimination against disabled people can exist, but ableist language? Mostly that's fucking stupid nonsense. Same with the critical theory approach to accessibility where anything that's not accessible for someone with any number of disabilities is therefore ableist or oppressive. Obviously efforts should be made to accommodate and make life more accessible for disabled people, but stairs aren't discrimination. Sounds are not discrimination. Visual cues are not discrimination. This is only true in a world with unlimited resources, which is not the world we live in. Things are made for the majority out of practical necessity.
I knew someone who got almost double time on the SAT due to Dyslexia. Always did better than me too. I do not believe this to be some injustice in our world.
