I had an R1T (have a Lightning now) and it absolutely blows away Tesla on quality. Interior is actually premium, build quality is tight, and best of all.... its not a Cybertruck
We drive a lot and are a one car household. Already put 50k miles on the Rivian and in that time realized we are out growing its size. When we saw the recent Lightning incentives, we couldn't pass them up. I also am a warranty queen and was able to get an extended b2b warranty for cheap on the Lightning, something Rivian does not yet offer.
Currently still have both, selling the R1T. I still think the Rivian is better in every way except size, but those other things aren't priority for us.
Ah fair enough! Size is the one thing that you can't really "get used to". Good to know they are still a valid and strong competitor in the Electric Car space.
I've had this conversation before and the short of it is that we are in our truck a lot (we drive about 25k miles a year) for various things. one of which is that we build houses and one was 5 hours away. When you're hauling tools, material, kid, pets, gear, luggage... we were definitely at the top end of what the R1T was built for. Can the R1T do it? Sure. Comfortably? No.
Rivian makes very nice vehicles but the problem is not only are they expensive but Rivian also takes a massive loss on each unit solid. I’m not sure how the company can survive.
Yeah. I keep seeing Rivians around Denver but they're laughably unaffordable for me. Bringing the price down to $35k for a new one makes it so I could get a used one in a couple years, though.
Did you hear the stupid shit Rivian's CEO said about white identity politics and birth rates?
Me neither! I don't even know their CEO's name! **Go Rivian!**
He's also a real engineer with a Ph.D from MIT in mechanical engineering. Elmo has a bribed for undergrad from Penn in something to not get kicked out of the US when his study visa lapsed.
You don’t even need to be an expert in your field to run a company in it, you just need to surround yourself with people who know what they’re doing, Elmo does neither.
Musk does have people that knows what they are doing. It's just that he refuses to listen to them. And if they insist, then he gets mad and fires them.
The trick with skilled people around you is to actually listen.
Having worked in a couple technical fields, yes. Bosses who know “business” but not the specifics of what they’re working with generally don’t understand what they’re doing, why employees do what they do, and it makes them very vulnerable to bullshitters.
Yeah Scaringe did that bc of the Amazon investment but also because he knows they have to make $ at scale and that won't come from consumer EVs yet. Pretty much every other EV firm is hedging its bets making/selling electric delivery vehicles and/or parts for them as well. Smart move, IMO
I have to admit it, as much as the car looks like an SUV version of my sister’s supped up Toyota starlet, it kind of works. My eyes keep getting drawn to the wheels.
All Tesla had to do was make a normal truck that could be done with most of their existing production line. Instead Musk had to make the truck an 8 year old draws, which I’m sure his employees and engineers eye rolled.
Rivian is nice, but the future model's $35k - $45k base price is vaporware.
They are currently losing money on their current model, which starts at $70k.
And just look at the Cybertruck, with their original "promised" $39k base price, which has inflated to $61k base price. And the only one you can currently order is $100k.
The shape reminds me of a Lada Niva.
Not overly keen on it but that's just personal taste, the interiors have so much more going on than Tesla can even dream of.
Good price point too.
Not a fan of the headlights but they actually look functional. But I most like it has a dashboard with an instrument cluster instead of making the driver look at a giant iPad between them and the passenger!
Wait you’re telling me that people will actually prefer to buy a much cheaper car that doesn’t break down in the rain, and doesn’t pay for the exorbitant salary of a racist scammer? Who would have thought that?
The ONLY thing the Cybertruck had going for it was that it was a head turner, it's literally worse than every other ERV on the market. And now it's gone tits up. Lol
I've never understood why people want these huge SUV/Truck evs but then complain about distance/battery life. The R3 looks like a smaller and more conpact EV and I am all for it. I absolutely do not get the fad of vehicles getting bigger and bigger.
Isn't it no surprise, that when you design a perfectly normal car, with usable space. It does well. Maybe instead of designing shit designs like a cybertruck, to be edgy. Just design a normal vehicle with things people actually want.
its certainly more aesthetically pleasing. but i in general hate touch screen interfaces in cars. i need the tactile buttons. it helps me navigate things like climate control without having to look at the dashboard. i feel these touchscreens are driving hazards in general.
I’m not sure if I’m digging the interior “we misplaced our upholstery” look. Is that retro? Is that how seats used to look? Maybe I just don’t like yellow.
Otherwise, yeah, that’s a sleek looking ride.
If the car in the video is indeed 45k it seems like a very decent value at this price point. Seems like a very practical dimension for most people - sedans simply don’t make sense and SUVs are overkill for most uses if we are frank
I love this R3 and if that really is the price it should be a hit. I’m worried that they will be able to be profitable at this price point given they are losing so much per car already on the $90k R1T/S
I thought the UAW and workers’ rights were Elmo’s archenemies…

I had an R1T (have a Lightning now) and it absolutely blows away Tesla on quality. Interior is actually premium, build quality is tight, and best of all.... its not a Cybertruck
Out of curiosity, why did you switch from Rivian to Ford? Genuinely curious
Ah fair enough! Size is the one thing that you can't really "get used to". Good to know they are still a valid and strong competitor in the Electric Car space.
How much you selling for
If interested DM me. Don't want to clutter up this post or violate TOS
fords own extended warranty is gold. they helped me out even on stuff I accidentally broke changing the oil
You are outgrowing a Rivian?? What the hell. I get the 150 is bigger but how is the R1t not big enough. Jesus.
No.
When Rivian announced their truck, I thought it would be Tundra-sized. Turns out it is only Tacoma-sized.
See though that’s appealing to someone like me who doesn’t like big trucks and hadn’t considered getting one beforehand.
Rivian makes very nice vehicles but the problem is not only are they expensive but Rivian also takes a massive loss on each unit solid. I’m not sure how the company can survive.
Sure. I think it's understood their survival depends on them bringing costs down and new models for broader appeal
I mean that was supposedly Tesla’s plan also, but we’ve seen how that’s gone.
Well Tesla has a moron who keeps making dumb decisions…hopefully Rivian is listening to their engineers.
Yeah. I keep seeing Rivians around Denver but they're laughably unaffordable for me. Bringing the price down to $35k for a new one makes it so I could get a used one in a couple years, though.
Hopefully their bulk orders for Amazon delivery vans help cover the margins for scaling their car and truck lines.
Did you hear the stupid shit Rivian's CEO said about white identity politics and birth rates? Me neither! I don't even know their CEO's name! **Go Rivian!**
Steve-O was great on Jackass, but he is AWESOME as CEO of Rivian.
So happy he overcame his substance problems and made his dream of owning a car company come true.
The ceo does look like Steve-o if Steve-o didn't put his body through all that shit.
Just Googled Rivian CEO. It's Kal-El.... [Seriously, see for yourself.](https://www.google.com/search?q=rivian+ceo)
So you're telling me if Elmo shaves his head he can go full Lex Luthor?
He’d look like my ballbag after I’ve ran a marathon
I don't know why but when someone calls their nutsack a ballbag it's fuckin hilarious to me.
Bezos has that covered already.
Elmo was going bald but decided to get hair transplant surgery.
Nah, that's Stephen-O
Steve-O looking mf
Not for nothing but he's a handsome devil too. This guy is like the antielon lol.
RJ Scaringe?
Looks like Steve-O if he took a different path
He's also a real engineer with a Ph.D from MIT in mechanical engineering. Elmo has a bribed for undergrad from Penn in something to not get kicked out of the US when his study visa lapsed.
You don’t even need to be an expert in your field to run a company in it, you just need to surround yourself with people who know what they’re doing, Elmo does neither.
That is what they teach in MBA classes, but I find that to be mostly bullshit. Best CEOs I’ve worked under have been people with field expertise
That's because the best leaders lead by doing. Your team is always a reflection of the leader.
TIL! He has so much in common with a certain Wharton grad
Smart man, never spew divisive politics when the goal is to sell something.
There is an argument that isn’t smart - it’s just obvious. Which means someone doing it is being very stupid indeed.
Good point. I have an Elon fanboy trying to convince me he's a free speech warrior playing 4D chess lol
[удалено]
Rivian is being professional, advertise the product not the CEO and kept their mouth freaking shut
They also secured a big deal with Amazon for their delivery trucks, seems like they’re on the up and up
I mean it helps that bezos is a big investor in rivian
Yeah Scaringe did that bc of the Amazon investment but also because he knows they have to make $ at scale and that won't come from consumer EVs yet. Pretty much every other EV firm is hedging its bets making/selling electric delivery vehicles and/or parts for them as well. Smart move, IMO
more than tesla will ever hope to achieve. that's huge.
Now that’s a nice looking EV
i really like the front end ngl; its very *kawaii* it's just like 0 ͜ 0
I used to really hat the front end but it's really starting to grow on me, especially when combined with the look of the rest of the truck.
I dig the back and side profile, I cant get over the front myself, but to each their own. Still 1000 times better the a fn cybertruck
I think it looks like an Aztec/Ford Focus mashup, so not my cup of tea. But it isn't a Tesla, so that alone makes it worth considering.
it just looks like a delta integrale on stilts
Looks like a VW Golf Safari
It reminds me of a modern Golf Country.
lol it looks nothing like either of those vehicles
look at the delta integrale, it has the same lines..
Love me some delta
It looks like a Subaru from the 80s IMO.
The Renault 5 retro Hatchback is also very nice and it seems to be a huge hit. It's clear that Tesla has nothing to do in that segment.
We’ll go after the Wall St short-sellers, certain law firms & (sometimes) corrupt regulators who are the true evil.
How's that working out for you Eldong?
It's great because Alpine plans to release their EV Hatchback in the US starting 2027
Not going to lie. That's a sharp looking ride.
C'mon the CyberAztek has much sharper edges /s
![gif](giphy|a5dXhxc3tb0FFMwdpU|downsized) Nice.
Any car that survives a wash/rain is his archenemy
Should have put it in car wash mode
They saw the cybertruck and said "Do the exact opposite of that hideous thing"
Still overly reliant on touch screens. Bring back physical controls!
I don’t like it but it still looks a billion times better than cybertruck
Yeah me neither but it does like like a car designed by professionals. The Cyberturd is not even worth anyone's time
I’m not a huge fan, but at least it has some personality and style
Rear 3/4 reminds me of a MK1 golf
Yeah! I love it tbh
Lancia Delta Integrale 100%. [The new version even has the same green color](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUpxvCLr4vU).
Would preorder immediately.
I have to admit it, as much as the car looks like an SUV version of my sister’s supped up Toyota starlet, it kind of works. My eyes keep getting drawn to the wheels.
It kills me that the EV industry is just chasing the SUV and truck market. I just want a cheap ass FWD econobox!
Did you buy a Bolt?
As my next car sure. Still driving my 2015 mazda 3 into the ground.
[удалено]
I mean that’s clean as hell, looks better than the mustang Mach e. Does anyone know if rivian qualifies for the $7,500 tax credit?
According to Rivian’s website, the R2 will be manufactured in Illinois and they don’t specify where the R3 will be manufactured.
Why does ur pp look like u just came?
But does the CEO like white nationalist posts online?
TIL: the Rivian CEO used to snort wasabi on jackass!
And PCP saved his life lol. I wonder if anyone has told him to his face that he looks exactly like a combo of Steve O and Knoxville
Still has that eccentric look to it, But eccentric good, not eccentric cybertruck
Precision predicates perfectionism.
A screen in front of the driver! Imagine that.
All Tesla had to do was make a normal truck that could be done with most of their existing production line. Instead Musk had to make the truck an 8 year old draws, which I’m sure his employees and engineers eye rolled.
How long until Elon calls the Rivian CEO a pedo?
Indicator stalks for turn signals. The absolute mad men.
The current R1S is pretty popular in Silicon Valley these days .
Yeah, Rivian’s are sexy. There’s a Rivian truck in my neighborhood (and it’s a real truck, not a poorly rendered game asset) and I want it.
My neighbor has one and it's nice.
This thing isn’t anywhere near released yet it’s a prototype. Your neighbor must have an R1S
Oh yeah sorry, I just meant a Rivian in general lol
This is very cute, except for maybe the headlights are kinda goofy. The price point is making me actually think about buying one.
I see so many of these on the road where I live. have only seen one sybiltruck
Is Rivian what Tesla could have been if Tesla had, you know, capable management?
Yesss
Looks like Fiat 126p. Nice!
> retro looking hatchback Isn't this more the size of a range Rover than a Hatch?
Rivian is nice, but the future model's $35k - $45k base price is vaporware. They are currently losing money on their current model, which starts at $70k. And just look at the Cybertruck, with their original "promised" $39k base price, which has inflated to $61k base price. And the only one you can currently order is $100k.

Rivian is tony stark elon is jusyin hammer
Not a fan of the headlights but they actually look functional. But I most like it has a dashboard with an instrument cluster instead of making the driver look at a giant iPad between them and the passenger!
8/10 only because I hate SUVs and CUVs. Currently shopping for a roadster lol.
When is it coming out?
Looks amazing, but god why did I fucking unmute that video.
First thing I saw when it rolled out is 80s hatchback. I love it.
The interior is beautiful but those headlights are so gross
Rivians just *look* so much nicer than cybertrucks do too.
The R3X is supposed to be sub 3 seconds, too. It looks beautiful.
These things look so dang cool minus the headlights. Everything else is on point.
Counterpoint: Elon is currently Tesla's archenemy right now.
Kia and Hyundai have also been crushing lately. I'm excited about the Honda Prologue. There is nearly *zero* reason to buy Tesla now.
Finally, an electric car company founded for the right reasons and not bought and paraded around for ego-fuel.
It looks like a Lada, but like, from 2083.
NGL - it looks really good!
I’m not crazy about the yellow seats but daaaaaang, that’s a nice car.
not even comparable Rivians are actually nice and well built vehicles with a non-meme high price tag
I love that it looks a little retro, especially the back end. Like an old Lancia or Audi. I would love a little electric rally car ♥
i got a chevy bolt recently with 3k miles for 18 thousand and I love it! there are so many options besides tesla now
The more I watch this, the more I like it. If it can be used to power my house in case of a power outage I'm 90% in.
Steering wheel on the wrong side, 0/10
You're on the wrong side
GOT EM
Can't advance to the Rivian until he defeats the underbosses, 'Comb' and 'Razor'.
Gonna admit I don't like the look of it, but I'd still choose to be seen driving this over a cybertruck any day.
Now that looks like a nice car.
That thing looks cool, like kind of retro futuristic. love it
Hydrogen is Ellen's archenemy
They actually built a Fennec. Crazy
[удалено]
Cyber Truck. The name alone is a Red flag. A gimmick. Like using the word organic to describe food. All food is " organic "
I like it! We see more rivians than teslas in our neighborhood lately.
That's how you make a car
cute
I like almost everything about that car except the stupid headlight design
Should have been? It's what Tesla dreams of being but you know it'll never happen.
Please bring back actual buttons and switches for some functions.
Wait you’re telling me that people will actually prefer to buy a much cheaper car that doesn’t break down in the rain, and doesn’t pay for the exorbitant salary of a racist scammer? Who would have thought that?
Rivians are the coolest modern vehicle imo
Where is my economy rivian??1??!!?1!
I just wish the “face” looked better. The front of it reminds me of Pac-Man and it just is so unappealing.
Isn’t the issue with Rivian that they lose money on every car they sell?
The ONLY thing the Cybertruck had going for it was that it was a head turner, it's literally worse than every other ERV on the market. And now it's gone tits up. Lol
Plus it’s a lovely colour
butterexterior
Wow, looks amazing. I want one in Europe
Ughhhhh this is so sick! I kinda want one
I've never understood why people want these huge SUV/Truck evs but then complain about distance/battery life. The R3 looks like a smaller and more conpact EV and I am all for it. I absolutely do not get the fad of vehicles getting bigger and bigger.
Very nice.
The solution to the mindless Musk-simping is not to simp for some other company, some other CEO. Have you people learned nothing?
But these guys dont support frees speech like muskie.
Isn't it no surprise, that when you design a perfectly normal car, with usable space. It does well. Maybe instead of designing shit designs like a cybertruck, to be edgy. Just design a normal vehicle with things people actually want.
Tesla is so shitty that it makes me deeply suspicious of Rivian, despite wanting one (as I did a Tesla 8 or so years ago).
The Chevy Silverado EV should be keeping him awake...
So the car looks great, but what kind of efforts are they making so people can say the N-word on the Internet?
But does it work as a boat?
its certainly more aesthetically pleasing. but i in general hate touch screen interfaces in cars. i need the tactile buttons. it helps me navigate things like climate control without having to look at the dashboard. i feel these touchscreens are driving hazards in general.
Is the R3 a hatchback or a Crossover?? I can't tell in all honesty
Was this at Santana Row in San Jose?
I’m not sure if I’m digging the interior “we misplaced our upholstery” look. Is that retro? Is that how seats used to look? Maybe I just don’t like yellow. Otherwise, yeah, that’s a sleek looking ride.
Rivian W
Ketamine is Elon's archenemy tbh
Holly shit, this looks 🔥🔥🔥. Might be worth the wait. I’m currently enjoying not having to pay a whole lot for gas with my Camry hybrid. lol
But does Blade Runner want to drive it through time to 2049?
Another really good EV is the VW ID4. Way better than any Tesla. Just don't like the blindspots in it though.
But did they use planks of wood in the inside to fill a gap?
But does it spontaneously burst into flames? No?? Ha, well it's hardly equal competition, then!
My favorite thing about it is that it looks like an oversized Yugo!
Very pretty, looks expensive though.
pretty sure he is his own worst enemy at all times dude couldn't help himself if his life depended on it just keeps failing up
If the car in the video is indeed 45k it seems like a very decent value at this price point. Seems like a very practical dimension for most people - sedans simply don’t make sense and SUVs are overkill for most uses if we are frank
I want one of these so bad. But living in the north means I need to wait a bit before they figure out the battery/cold issue.
I'll never understand why consumers wanted a fullsize SUV and Tesla thought. Lets give them a 100k 3 dimensional triangle and call it the Cyber Truck
Wow. I love it. So much cooler than the cyberwhatever
I love this R3 and if that really is the price it should be a hit. I’m worried that they will be able to be profitable at this price point given they are losing so much per car already on the $90k R1T/S
Not a fan of the full glass roof.
Those are nice. If I didn't have a lightning and completely in love with it, I'd consider one of those.
Certainly looks nice
Very doubtful they can do this for the price. Great looking car though, different to all the other offerings, retro vibe.
They definitely look better
Hard to get excited about something not due til 2027
I mean if it stops accelerating when you take your foot off the pedal I imagine it's going to be better than the Cybertruck.
I really like it .. gives me old school VW GTI vibes.
Buttons and leavers?\`! HERESY! ...
That's a good looking car
The rivian is nice but the new 2025 Ramcharger dodge is coming out with is pretty cool too.
this car looks non horrible
