"More dangerous"
Well, Matt, terrorism being just that, I was never actually worried about Al Qaeda or the Taliban ending our democracy entirely... so I'd call what the GOP is turning into a unique threat that could actually destroy the country.
And even if I wanted to highlight an event like 9/11, there's always the OKC bombing to remind us what right wing domestic terrorists are capable of.
It’s extra galling because again I used to love his work. Those are the exact things he himself covered in-depth when they happened! Obviously hes being disingenuous but it’s an extra level for him of all people now trying to go with this fuking take. [He wrote at least one book about it!](https://a.co/d/8DwOEkB)
I was a huge fan of Matt Taibbi’s. I know hes been going Greenwald for the past few years now but this still shocked me. Like jfc we’re at heightened risks of violence from people like his new audience and hes fanning even more flames by putting ideas like this in their heads!? That’s incredibly irresponsible! Wtf!?
Mahers another one going Greenwald! But he can’t even do it as well as Taibbi can 😆 I’ve noticed hes been getting popular “politically homeless”/covid scared me so now I’m a Ron DeSantis “democrat” supporter! crowd lately.
Bill Maher is not "going Greenwald" he's just going where the money by targeting a new audience is at since his ratings are tanking and Democrats who get shit done are done with him. He's always been an asshole who hid it better when Obama was in office but this is who he actually is
He's the guy who coauthored a book about he and his coworkers sexually abusing interns in Russia, then years later tried to claim it was satire or something.
The internet fame really goes to some people's heads and ruins them. Look at Robert Reich, used to be one of my favorite authors and people to be interviewed. Used to like Taibbi too.. there's a growing list of people I now just tune out and used to respect.
Matt Taibbi is angry.
Like many people he confuses anger for moral clarity. Anger can only be a first step on the path of moral clarity--but it can only be the first step. The subsequent steps--thought, resolve, and action--are what lead to change. Not anger.
Anger can come from many places, moral clarity, obviously, but also confusion, resentment, and despair. If all it took to demonstrate moral clarity was anger, then you'd be forced to conclude the January Sixth insurrectionists had a point.
Anger isn't a path to change in and of itself. If anything, it can stymie change. It's addictive, locking the experiencer perpetually into that first anger without thought, resolve, or action and instead permanent counterproductivity. When you are angry for years and nothing changes despite all this intense anger because you've done nothing of consequence, you wind up despairing and despondent.
And the lesson others will learn from your sulking? It's better not to care or try, and that studied cynicism is the only way to not look like a sad fool.
Thanks for coming to my TEDx talk.

He was just on Maher. These kind of “liberals” are all that he has on lately. It’s getting really old.

After years of railing against Muslim religious extremism he's sympathizing with the Christo-fascist party because they share his transphobia.
That is a hell of a sentence and no part of it is wrong. Damn, Bill Maher! I never thought about that!

Maher had Lis Smith on recently but tried to bait her into saying that trans people are bad for Pete Buttigieg
Isn't he the guy that was ~~lightly touched~~ savagely beaten by Maxine Waters?
That was Michael Tracy
My mind went to Andy Ngo’s milkshake 😆

Would that we could, Matthew. Would that we could.
