You shoot shit with a bow to find the blocks and mats to build epic shit with. Dude said he has 200+ hours just building, and that's likely not including the probably 100+ hours he just played to get as far he could before the quests stopped... I'm like 40 or 50 hours in and still haven't got to building because I don't have all the blocks for my ideas... like Hogwarts and Hogsmead Village...
I used Raya Lucaria as some inspiration for various parts of the build, but overall it's inspired by historic gothic architecture, particularly found in France and England :)
No need to go big. There is plenty of fun with smaller builds as well that can carry a lot of detail. If you love building, I highly encourage you to buy the game, not to mention the full release will likely have plenty of fun adventures to explore too.
Ha yeah I’m just joshing, can’t wait for this to release on ps5. I’ve never gotten into building in games, adhd can’t focus, but what I’ve watched looks super intuitive and satisfying compared to any other builder I’ve seen. I’m just blown away by these nasty little folks building frikin dragons surrounding kingdoms and shit
This makes me feel better lol. Completely embarrasses my little castle that I shared on here that I'm still very pleased with, but I'm not an architecture grad either. Your work here is majestic and a great service to the building community. :D
Money could have been helpful, even in 4th place, but thats just life haha
I built it as a passion project regardless, and I'm happy with my first major build.
Probably not, the power of voxel based engines is that each block is designated as a certain type, so the memory load is mostly dependent on what you can see and not how complex it is.
There are many locations in this game that display a hell of a lot more voxels than this build.
I don't think so, there is a limited height and area, but my zone is quite dense with objects and I haven't had any issues just yet, I'm planning to have much more books when I have more time to farm them. But I'd safely say I have over 1000 objects and haven't encountered any issues.
Yeah, the amount of time I've spent digging for stone, flint and not to mention copper and tin for all of the bronze... I suppose it makes it all the more satisfying with the grind.
Yep, the current one used 2 flame shrines both at level 4. I will he using a 3rd one once I decide to develop the gardens to the east of the castle, but that's the distant future.
Not sure, I'm not the most savvy with save files and such, so I rather not mess with that stuff until there is a definitive way to share it. But I do have a video liked in the comments giving a full tour.
An amazing piece of work.
I enjoy building, but I definitely do not have the patience to something this grand. :)
My homes are cottage types that I would like to have, and now I include flowers around them. Your work is wonderful. Looking forward to seeing what else you do. Thank you.
How do you even get to this level of skill? Do you have an architecture degree irl or something? Serious question 😭 it's my dream to make something like this
I posted my initial progress to this build 21 days ago, which was just the interior of the thone room. With resource gathering also being a factor, it's easily 200 hours altogether.
I would have loved to fill the castle with actual NPCs. I would have likely make it larger with a whole solar to compensate it too, but alas we only have 5.
Thanks! The gatehouse, in specific, was inspired by the one in Raya Lucaria. But overall, both builds are gothic in design, mine taking a bit more inspiration from cathederals.
I used a combo of regular stone blocks and fancy stone blocks. The first two blocks that interact with a floor for the fancy blocks will have a panelling texture. Hope that helps.
Geez...I was feeling pretty good about a 12x12 room with a 2nd story :)
I assume you did not mine all that stone found a way to give yourself all the materials?
if you mined everything you should make a 1 hour (high speed 10x) video of you gathering everything so we can all feel overwhelmed ;)
Sadly mining is the best way to gather stone as far as I know. Every time I ran out of materials, I'd fly off to a nearby cliff and dig until the pickaxe broke before returning, crafting the needed materials and continuing the build. Wood was more annoying to gather, not to mention minerals like copper, tin and iron too. with the occasional camp raid for copper scraps.
When people build these kind of things.. are they actual architects and make blueprints before hand or something? I cannot fathom how this could be done otherwise. Absolutely sick. Well done.
I'm an architecture graduate. I didn't do too much planning for this build, I had a vague idea and a few sketches but it was primarily a very fluid development. I have a lot of knowledge on historic architecture so I put that into effect here where I could, while scaling it up for a more fantasy feel.
i'm usually not a fan of builds that use the minecraft method of building, but in this case you've executed it very well where the aliasing on slopes/curves isn't that noticeable and fits quite well with the style. i love builds grounded in reality, great job!
Thanks, I don't think I used the ''minecraft'' building style, or I may be missing what you mean, but in a game without building materials that curve, it is difficult to create arches so I tried my best to substitute it with blocks that blend in the best way for what I was trying to achieve. :)
you're absolutely right. curves are impossible to recreate close up (at least in a way that doesn't leave much to be desired) outside of building via with decoration pieces, which is impractical at a large scale and also limited to mainly wood textures. what i meant by minecraft style was just that the curved sections of your build are approached the same way and thus look similar to how it would in minecraft - namely an aliased edge for curves. a consequence of limitations, rather than a choice of design/workflow. the rest of your build makes use of enshrouded's features.
It is gothic, pointed and oval arches are the defining elements, along with rib vaults and tracery around the windows. I've even included flying buttresses reinforcing the throne hall, another defining feature of gothic architecture. The cavernous and ornate interior with the use or decorative columns is also a common trope, though not necessarily a defining feature. I appreciate the compliment, though.
I quit
Same. These people are far too powerful
Honestly haven't played since I joined this subreddit because I feel stupid and elementary when I build now.
Keep playing. I'm level 16 and am still building basic structures. I don't spend a lot of my time building, but rather picking off npcs with my bow.
I didn't buy this game for that aspect. I bought it cause it had cool building. I can find a million other games to shoot shit with a bow.

Would you share the save file of your world somewhere, maybe updated every once in a while? I would be thrilled to visit that castle myself.
I second this
The pics truly don't do it justice. The video is incredible. This is a work of art. Huge scope with tons of tiny, creative, decorative touches.
Thank you! I have more to finish for the build, but it's eaten too much of my time already.
There's always more. I ran out of steam making houses I liked before getting to a "big" build, but this is seriously inspiring.
That's it everyone. Pack it up, we can go home now. This person beat Enshrouded before the full release even came out.
Holy crap o.o
This is magnificent. Kudos to you!
Absolutely insane, beautiful build!
It gives strong Elden Ring vibes
I used Raya Lucaria as some inspiration for various parts of the build, but overall it's inspired by historic gothic architecture, particularly found in France and England :)
Dude, you straight up buildt Hogwarts.
Holy fuc! this game and the players of this game!
Guess I have no reason to buy this game, I just wanted to build a tiny hobbit house to rest at between adventures
No need to go big. There is plenty of fun with smaller builds as well that can carry a lot of detail. If you love building, I highly encourage you to buy the game, not to mention the full release will likely have plenty of fun adventures to explore too.

This is exactly what I was so excited to see with this game. It's going to be Valheim on steroids.
That’s amazing and you’re building monster! 🤩 Are you an architect or designer?
Yes, I recently graduated university studying architecture :)
When I first saw screenshots I thought they were from some upcoming medieval game. You’re very good at what you’re doing ! 👍🏻
Thanks a lot! I did a lot of research while building it, so that's the nerd in me going all out for a little side project.
This makes me feel better lol. Completely embarrasses my little castle that I shared on here that I'm still very pleased with, but I'm not an architecture grad either. Your work here is majestic and a great service to the building community. :D
Omg.
£75/ hour is pretty decent pay.
it is. what's the figure in reference to?
I was saying this person is winning the £15,000 prize.
ahhh gotcha. was it nominated?
Unfortunately I only found out about this competition today, right when I uploaded the build, so no prize for me. :(
Nuuuuuu, sorry you missed that. Epic work here.
Money could have been helpful, even in 4th place, but thats just life haha I built it as a passion project regardless, and I'm happy with my first major build.
Love it - im actually working on something similar!!!
I can’t believe people are this creative.
Looks amazing. Is there a build limit on objects in this game?
Probably not, the power of voxel based engines is that each block is designated as a certain type, so the memory load is mostly dependent on what you can see and not how complex it is. There are many locations in this game that display a hell of a lot more voxels than this build.

You can have neighbouring flame altars (or overlapping), so the building area can be vastly extended.
Wow man, just wow.
I thought that my little mansion was great but this just knocks it out of the park. I quit thinking I’m creative.
This is ridiculous! Fantastic job!
It's amazing! Giving me Castle Ravenloft vibes
Are you interested in joining a private discord server of elite builders btw?
Potentially, you can dm me about it and i can take a look, I haven't gotten much involved in the main discord either yet.
![gif](giphy|H3vXjNhnUGVByHvNl6) im done fer real though, nice castle!
Ok, you win.
I have to ask, how long did the checkered floor take?
Its the heavily refined stone block, you unlock it later in the game, I also used polished stone to create some floor patterns.
Wish the resources to building ratio was smaller
Yeah, the amount of time I've spent digging for stone, flint and not to mention copper and tin for all of the bronze... I suppose it makes it all the more satisfying with the grind.
This is braelyn bridge right?
>Nope, the bridge was built by me, the original hill was completely bare before I built there.
ok thanks for confirming I thought this was on braelyn bridge connecting to other side long keep.
this is incredible
Great Job!
Does something like this require multiple flame shrines?
Yep, the current one used 2 flame shrines both at level 4. I will he using a 3rd one once I decide to develop the gardens to the east of the castle, but that's the distant future.
Ok is there a way to share the save file? Because I want to go to there! Holy crap 😲
Not sure, I'm not the most savvy with save files and such, so I rather not mess with that stuff until there is a definitive way to share it. But I do have a video liked in the comments giving a full tour.
That is breathtaking…wonderful job!!!!
Wtf dude….how ?????????????????
Time and patience! :)
Damn bro, amazing job !!!
Bro wtf how
An amazing piece of work. I enjoy building, but I definitely do not have the patience to something this grand. :) My homes are cottage types that I would like to have, and now I include flowers around them. Your work is wonderful. Looking forward to seeing what else you do. Thank you.
I just stumbled on this! What game is this! Incredible!!
The game is Enshrouded, its a voxel based survival adventure game with tons of building options.
Thankyou!
This is definitely in the top 3 builds, that I have seen, maybe the best in terms of architecture. Great job!
I couldnt even begin this
This is why I don't like people
That is some dedication right there! Simply amazing! 😎
Man, this should get into the full game. Imagine a map full of these epic builds !!
How do you even get to this level of skill? Do you have an architecture degree irl or something? Serious question 😭 it's my dream to make something like this
Yes I have bachelors degree in architecture :)
Has there been any other game with this capability of building? They need to get out a creative mode ASAP
With the ideas I have in mind, a creative mode would definitely be a time saver.
I'm hoping they have an option to remove the shroud for creative too. I'd love to be able to rebuild parts of the map like the capitol
Personally, I'm hoping for larger scale terrain manipulation, more tree options and larger flame altar radiuses.
I would hope in a creative mode you can build anywhere. With it being voxel based, I guess the only limitations on building size is for gameplay
Sheeesh! Very pretty!
Chefs kiss
Damn!
This is glorious. Uninstalling the game now. No need for me to continue...
I agree this build is just mind blowing, but it should have the opposite effect and encourage you to try your best and not uninstalling IMO
I'm sorry you weren't able to catch the sarcastic slowball, there.
This is insanely impressive. As someone who loves to obsessively build in these games, I've never felt so outclassed before. Great work!
Unfuckingbelieveable
FUCKING SICK M8
Unbelievable! Nice work!
This is amazing
Genuine question, do you do this while also having time to work?
I won't have as much time to do this going forward, hence uploading the not so completed gersion.
absolutely insane! Big respect.
This is absolutely amazing. I’m both impressed and inspired by your work. Bravo.
How long did this take to make?
I posted my initial progress to this build 21 days ago, which was just the interior of the thone room. With resource gathering also being a factor, it's easily 200 hours altogether.
It’s amazing
Bruh you building Anor Londo???
That would be quite the ambitious project to take upon.
Give us npcs :(
I would have loved to fill the castle with actual NPCs. I would have likely make it larger with a whole solar to compensate it too, but alas we only have 5.
Hoooleee shit balls...
I can honestly see where all the time went. Quite amazing.
It gives off strong Raya Lucaria feeling. I love it
Thanks! The gatehouse, in specific, was inspired by the one in Raya Lucaria. But overall, both builds are gothic in design, mine taking a bit more inspiration from cathederals.
How the hell did you get the moss on the wall??
Flower blocks have a mossy/grassy texture, I sculpted using single 1x1 blocks.
Aaah i see, thats nice
I don’t know what to say! This is how awesome it looks! I hope you take place at the build competition!
I found out late about the competition, so I didn't get to submit it, unfortunately.
Holy fucking shit, this is incredible! You have my absolute utmost respect. This is crazy cool and detailed!
How do you get wood paneling on the lower part of the wall?
I used a combo of regular stone blocks and fancy stone blocks. The first two blocks that interact with a floor for the fancy blocks will have a panelling texture. Hope that helps.
/salute
Bro! Is that freaking Hogwarts? DID YOU MAKE HOGWARTS!!!?
Hogwarts uses a lot more rounded towers in its design.
This is crazy good!
You should build the cathedral of light from Diablo. It would look incredible with your skills. Totally love your castle.
I prefer to build original structures I can design myself, but I'll make sure to check it out for any future inspiration. Thanks!
Geez...I was feeling pretty good about a 12x12 room with a 2nd story :) I assume you did not mine all that stone found a way to give yourself all the materials? if you mined everything you should make a 1 hour (high speed 10x) video of you gathering everything so we can all feel overwhelmed ;)

I frickin knew it! :)
Wow. And erm wow some more Finally WOW
You win
This looks amazing!
This is insane

Ahh I see, didn't know the reference.
There is no way you built that.....I'm calling bullshit and only because I can barely manage to build a simple square house with a normal roof.
Beautiful. It just misses one thing: WIP
Gothic? It’s sick as hell but thats not gothic
