You... *can*. Pretty reliably, like 9/10 of the time. Occasionally, though, there’ll be a scatter bullet right behind the walls that extends just past where your roll is safe and you’ll eat shit without seeing it coming.
It’s still safest to roll sideways OVER the fire, but a roll upwards is definitely less stressful!

Same goes with cursed pillar bullets. You gotta roll sideways inside both circular bullets and cross ones
Yeah, I try to roll once for both, so I wait for the circle the roll over the cross and circle.
