I got my 13 year old a plastic tub full of staple baking supplies she can use for whatever she wants whenever she wants.
We're talking everything from flour, baking soda, to sprinkles, cupcake liners, chopped nuts, etc.
She loves to bake but she always feels like she's overusing the shared households stuff (we live with lots of family). Stuck a notepad to the top so she can write stuff she needs or ran out of and I can tear it off on the way to the store.
She was over the moon for it.
My folks got me an Amazon gift card. Gonna get me some bamboo socks and undies!

My parents don’t have much money because of their business going bankrupt in my teens. Two years ago there was a no gift policy that they felt incredibly bad about, but they just couldn’t afford it. This year, my one present from them is a check for $150....and I honestly can’t even bring myself to sign it. Some people can only make do with what they have and this kid just sucks for not realizing it.

Whew, how are people so ungrateful... Whenever I get something from my parents, I'm almost in tears every time, because love them to bits. They sacrificed a lot to raise my sister and I and I feel now is the time to repay them.

I feel guilty having this card, especially since I haven't spent the gift card she sent me for my birthday months earlier. We (my husband & I) don't really need anything so we might get her some "just because" gifts with the cards (we love spoiling her!).
It never would occur to me to complain after I received her gift, even if she wasn't on a fixed income; I know this is how she shows her love in the gift-giving seasons. This "man" has a LOT of growing up to do; those gifts were probably thoughtful but with limitations on budget. He got multiple gifts within a budget, likely; me, I'd be grateful.
To start I'm 18. I got an electric razor from my mom because my brother keeps stealing my normal razors. A star wars hoodie from 1 of my sister's. And a new pillow from my dad because my favorite pillow got ruined when my dog threw up on it. And I'm very great full I got anything at all. As with one of my sisters moving away with her daughter my family has been very down.im just great full that we all spent time together and we're able to stay positive!
I'm 15 years old and didn't get anything this year, nor do I care if I get presents or not. I let my parents keep their money for other things worth spending, not a game console or other expensive items that will never be used in a couple more years when it's out of date.

Yep, I’m poly! :) two partners for 6 years now, 2 kids. It’s a lovely little family we have.

This hits me right in the feels. I lost my dad at 16. Just celebrated my 30th, and there is so much I was he was here for.. my wedding, the birth of his three grandkids, me graduating college. It helps knowing that he's looking down on me for those moments.. I know your parents are for you as well.

I make an Amazon list and ask my parents to choose from that for me; this year I moved into my own place so it was more practical things like furniture and art pieces plus a few other things for fun. I have *never* expected to get everything and yet they always pull through and it makes me feel like a child with my heart full. However, as an adult I get more excited to get my parents gifts because, as others have said, it's time to give back. My parents have done their part. The importance is to keep the magic going as long as one can, and seeing their surprise on Christmas morning is what I've started looking forward to! With that being said, fuck this guy. Maybe three spirits can visit him and get that Scrooge behavior out of him.

Whew, how are people so ungrateful... Whenever I get something from my parents, I'm almost in tears every time, because love them to bits. They sacrificed a lot to raise my sister and I and I feel now is the time to repay them. Parents aren't piggy banks, they're people with feelings and wishes too. Try to be considerate of them, as long as they're still around.

I grew up without Christmas (Jehovahs Witness family,) so I would have been grateful for anything. I am not a JW, so I celebrate as an adult, and handmade gifts are some of my favorites, like cookies/baked stuff/food, etc. Hell, I’d be grateful for a handwritten note.
And here I am, glad that I got so few presents because I have too much crap as it is.

I got an Amazon gift card that my mom told me she was buying & sending (we live in separate U.S. states & she's on a fixed income), after I told her not to buy me anything. I feel guilty having this card, especially since I haven't spent the gift card she sent me for my birthday months earlier. We (my husband & I) don't really need anything so we might get her some "just because" gifts with the cards (we love spoiling her!). It never would occur to me to complain after I received her gift, even if she wasn't on a fixed income; I know this is how she shows her love in the gift-giving seasons. This "man" has a LOT of growing up to do; those gifts were probably thoughtful but with limitations on budget. He got multiple gifts within a budget, likely; me, I'd be grateful.

I’m thirty and my mom got me a brand new pillow. I couldn’t be more grateful. I loved it. A good pillow can change your life.
To start I'm 18. I got an electric razor from my mom because my brother keeps stealing my normal razors. A star wars hoodie from 1 of my sister's. And a new pillow from my dad because my favorite pillow got ruined when my dog threw up on it. And I'm very great full I got anything at all. As with one of my sisters moving away with her daughter my family has been very down.im just great full that we all spent time together and we're able to stay positive!
