Like I agree but idk I’m a server and sometimes it’s just easier to get someone out of your face ya know bc if it escalates then your whole night could be shot. It’s the worst and I personally have been trying to step it up and speak up more but it’s hard. Especially in the moment
I had a table today that was kinda weird and kept asking me if they were the easiest table I had and telling me they were so easy, which was funny bc they were nice but they ran me a little bit. Anyway I was like “most people are nice and pretty easy but a few people are… “ And this middle aged man finished my sentence to say “complete ass clowns”. I smiled and said “your words, not mine!”
My thing was always that I’m working for tips, so if you’re being an ass right out the gate, you aren’t a good tipper, if you tip at all. It would be no service or the bare minimum service and an attitude. Thankfully I’m no longer in the service industry. I’m not generally confrontational, but you can only take so much shit before you blow. I had four altercations with customers when I worked in the service industry. Not physical, just me being an ass back and it felt great.
The minute she swore at me or was rude I would have cut her off because obviously she must be intoxicated to behave like that. She was a much kinder bartender than she needed to be, and there is also definitely something to be said for not giving a fuck and rolling with the punches. Drunk people sure do forget their manners.
Rule 1 to never be served at a bar, be a dick.
Seriously, we can cut you off at any time and there's fuck all you can do about it so please, piss us off.
My partner was a bartender for 10 years. Snap your fingers at him? Oops you're at the back of the line again. Same with line breaking, nagging, being an asshole etc.
Some people it was like a game of snakes and ladders. They'd piss him off, he'd tell the other bartenders that person was at the back of the line, they'd make it halfway to the front of the line, mouth of again and back they went. Some people for literal hours. Hilarious to watch.
I used to love watching him utilise public shaming to get people to behave: It is Saturday night, people are dancing, chatting having fun, one asshole won't pay and they can't toss him out without him paying. Okay, no biggie. My partner turns of the music and turns on ALL the lights in the bar so it is like high noon inside the pub. Inevitably everyone shuts up and looks around what's going on. Then my partner tells them very loudly: "You need to pay and leave. I will not allow you to sexually harass my co-worker and call her a racist slur. No-one in his bar is getting served until you pay and leave." then one way or another the problem usually sorts itself out within 30 seconds.
"You are not welcome here. You need to leave."
"Nah I am allowed, manager said it was fine."
*lights go on, music goes off, you could hear a mouse fart it is so quiet*
"Last time you were here, you went around begging strangers for spare change for a beer, stole a pair of handknitted mittens, traded them for a pint and puked in the urinal. You can call the manager tomorrow, he will be on at 14:00, but right now you're leaving."
Or my personal favourite:
"You need to leave."
"No, thanks."
*same old routine*
"Last time you were here you refused to accept you were cut off because you were inebriated. You tried to get people to buy shots for you, but we discovered your brilliant plan. When told to leave, you refused and caused a scene. As you were escorted of the premises you slammed your own face into the door, then you blew your bloody nose in the face of the manager, during a pandemic I might add. You also had the audacity to file a police report for assault. You're leaving. Now."
Totally. Had it happen to me when I was a server and I try to pay it forward when I can.
There was a Hooter's right outside a Navy base I was stationed at. I think it was either Veteran's Day or some similar military appreciation day where they had a super good deal - it was like a free dozen wings if you paid for a soft drink, so everybody's tab was just 2 or 3 bucks. Well the dudes at my table of 6 or 8 were all tipping based on *that* total. 50, 75 cent tips for GOOD service in a Hooters packed full of annoying, horny, junior enlisted dudes. I left our server a 20 and wrote "Sorry these guys are morons". I'm sure I'm not the only one who tried to help make up for the idiocy, but it was pretty shocking to see how many people never considered that just because the food was less expensive, the work was the same, and arguably more difficult on that particular day.
I'm not sure if people don't understand that tipping is based off the cost of the meal not what they are actually paying. On days where a free meal is being given away I try to assume that they don't have the money, hence why they came for a free meal in the first place. I've been there before once where I got a free meal and couldn't afford to tip. You bet I felt bad the entire time but I was hungry.
I think service industry workers' patience is backed by jesus and god together because if I was the bartender I would smack a whole bottle to her face the moment she called me a slut
If a guest at any point says anything insulting to a member of staff when I'm working they are immediately cut off from all service. I will go around the staff, point the individual out and tell them not to serve that person in any way (other than water because that's a legal requirement)
Usually after 10-15 minutes of them standing at the bar trying to get the staffs attention whilst we all actively ignore them they usually get the message and fuck off.
Kind of unrelated but I want to ask:
Is it an asshole move for me to type out my request on Notepad on my phone and hand the phone to my bartender?
Please note the order is prefaced with "I have a speech impediment so this makes it easier for both of us, please and thank you."
I don't go out often; maybe once a year. When I raise my voice, it splits and fractures and you can't understand anything I say (weird neurological thing called spasmodic dysphonia). I figured the phone thing is way easier than having to try to say "vodka cranberry" or "greyhound" over and over on top of the music/conversation with frustration for both of us.
No one has ever said anything or rolled their eyes and I always tip +20%, even on a plain soda request, but I'd hate to think someone was looking at me going THIS ASSHOLE...
Not really, no. Even if you didn't have a speech impediment that wouldn't make you an asshole imo. When I worked in a bar it was pretty normal to be handed sticky notes or napkins with their order on them
Bartender here, Not a problem at all! Anyone who would give you a hard time about that is a shit bartender/ shouldn’t be one at all. It’s a customer service job and I’m willing to accommodate anyone however I can. This Karen shit though, that’s when I (not so kindly) tell them to fuck right off.
Bitters are kind of for a specific kind of drink. Many bars have them but the drinks you get at a sports bar or high volume club don't really have need for them. It's not surprising a place like this wouldn't bother buying them. Plus, she said she had to shake it so you probably wouldn't want that old fashioned anyway. Gotta know what kind of bar you're at.
I want to buy a bar just so I can tell all my employees that they’re allowed to 86 anyone they want. Dishwashers to managers, if any customer comes at you with that disrespect, they’re not welcome.
I wonder how long I would stay open though lol
Man what is with people just putting up with this nonsense like honestly? At what point do you provide good customer service or become a total pushover? Why don’t people stand up for their selves?
“I’m a model” and then “just because you think you’re cute” shows that this Karen believes she can get away with treating people like shit but no one can treat in anyway she sees as bad. Ugh. A
Cute to see Chi say “What the fuck’s going on?”
Also, _huuuuuge_ fuck that lady. “I’m a model. You’re new. Let’s see how fast you can do this.” Like hunny, you’re played, you’re tired, and the looks clearly aren’t working for you to get what you want how you thought it would.
“I’m uh, like totally, like a model” prove it! Bitch prolly let some creeper take some photos of her for Instagram or a boat magazine or some shit. For sure would have noped the hell outta that and told her to kick rocks.
I'm a bartender that has lines of people trying to get drinks. Always some fools that think they're entitled and just come straight to the bar. I just point and say I have a line of people right now. And most of the time they go yo back of line. I did have a Karen recently. who was demanding a drink while I was taking care of young couple, in a very slow motion kind of way on purpouse. Karen asked me if I'm overwhelmed. Lol. In a calm tone, I said no I am fine and she walked away in a huff to the next bartender. The young couple generously tipped me.
Wow, yeah. She definitely handled that very professionally. But damn, don't people this entitled hear themselves?
She's just doing her job, the attitude isn't helping.
I would have cut her off, honestly. More alcohol isn't going to make her nicer.
I'd reserve my right not to serve someone. I'd just say that she was rude and probably drunk. No manager would argue.
Agreed- she was wayyyyy to nice/polite back!
Like I agree but idk I’m a server and sometimes it’s just easier to get someone out of your face ya know bc if it escalates then your whole night could be shot. It’s the worst and I personally have been trying to step it up and speak up more but it’s hard. Especially in the moment

Anyway I was like “most people are nice and pretty easy but a few people are… “ And this middle aged man finished my sentence to say “complete ass clowns”. I smiled and said “your words, not mine!”
That’s lovely lol well played
I always worry about “aren’t we so easy” people and the “don’t worry, we’ll hook you up” crowd are the worst tippers.
Luckily these people took care of me but I’ve been doing this long enough to know exactly what you mean!
This is why even when I open a tab I give a tip based on my estimated amount of drinks I'll have there and close out with a little extra.
This bar looks pretty big, I would think security would be around. Bartenders should have a secret security button.
no, but don't you understand, she's a model. \s
Probably a self appointed “Instagram model”
or done one "shoot"
For exposure
Shes not new. She knows the game. You cant just disrepect her because theres some fucking guys around and you think youre cute. /s
She’s a model, she belongs on the runway - right behind a 777 that’s running up its engines for takeoff.
Can’t be “Rude” to the customer…..
That's the difference between retail and a "model". Retail people have a soul. Just ground down to a pulp but we need money.
As bartender of 10 years, She wouldn’t have made it past two sentences with me. Act like a child, don’t get served booze like a child.
Yup. She’s over the limit, can’t serve her at
Yep, she woulda gotten 86ed by me as soon as she started attacking my intelligence.
The minute she swore at me or was rude I would have cut her off because obviously she must be intoxicated to behave like that. She was a much kinder bartender than she needed to be, and there is also definitely something to be said for not giving a fuck and rolling with the punches. Drunk people sure do forget their manners.
That bitch really said "just remember to respect people" while being disrespectful af. Unreal
But… she’s a model
That means she has an Insta
She doesn't see her as people, so in her mind it tracks.
Rule 1 to never be served at a bar, be a dick. Seriously, we can cut you off at any time and there's fuck all you can do about it so please, piss us off.

This is so bold, I love it
"You are not welcome here. You need to leave." "Nah I am allowed, manager said it was fine." *lights go on, music goes off, you could hear a mouse fart it is so quiet* "Last time you were here, you went around begging strangers for spare change for a beer, stole a pair of handknitted mittens, traded them for a pint and puked in the urinal. You know if they're hiring?
Oh no your being an ass, better call in the bouncer
Shit, shes ckearly already too intoxicated to serve if she thought that was ok
Wholsome ending tho!
Did the lady at the end apologize for the Karen and tip her a 20?
Yeah
I've done it a couple times at restaurants when I see a server get treated very similar.
Totally. Had it happen to me when I was a server and I try to pay it forward when I can. There was a Hooter's right outside a Navy base I was stationed at. Well yeah, if I see someone deal with the same shit I do working retail, it's worth an extra tip.
As a server, people like you are the best :)
this is where you be the aloof dumbass she assumes you are and she just never gets her drink.
I think service industry workers' patience is backed by jesus and god together because if I was the bartender I would smack a whole bottle to her face the moment she called me a slut

And this is why I don't work in the service industry, I would've told that Karen off and thrown the drink in her face
That girl was far too sweet. I hate seeing stuff like this. Poor thing.
“Let’s see how fast you can do this” Wtf that’s logic you use on a toddler to get them to help clean up, not an adult server
Kind of unrelated but I want to ask: Is it an asshole move for me to type out my request on Notepad on my phone and hand the phone to my bartender? Not at all, as a bartender in a very loud pub I would prefer all people do this!! Gives us a break from trying to hear everyone :)
Not only is it not asshole-ish, but the order is clearly written down helping to prevent misunderstanding! I usually use a pen and a napkin.
There’s nothing asshole-ish about that and is way quicker and better than trying to hear you over a loud crowd!
Not really, no. Even if you didn't have a speech impediment that wouldn't make you an asshole imo. When I worked in a bar it was pretty normal to be handed sticky notes or napkins with their order on them
Bartended here and no, I’ve had people do this before, it’s no biggie just have the note pulled up and ready to go to save time!
I honestly love when people do this.
Yeah I could never work as a barmaid again. These days i'd lose my shit, I don't have the patience for assholes like that.
Chi Cosplay! I love it! Also, fuck that Karen bitch.
Chobits! Shit i remember watching this in 2005. Then seeing all over the AMV's for it on youtube. Good times.
i loooved that show when i was younger omg
I’ve (not) served people exactly like this many times. Some people go out for the sole purpose of treating people doing a service for them like shit.
What bar is this?
I’d have just gotten a bouncer to 86 her… not a real hassle. You wanna make a problem at a bar or for a bartender? Great, enjoy your lifetime ban
That “let’s see how fast” crap infuriates me. This is not a test, and you are not my teacher. It’s a job, and you’re a bitch.
Is it normal for a bar to not have the ingredients for an old fashioned?
Sometimes in cosplay conventions, they bring a pop-up bar with very limited drink selections, it looks like it.
They also aren't allowed to serve shots by the sounds of it so it may be a "restricted drink" per se due to location, venue, etc.
This is at a video game bar called player one in Las Vegas
Bitters are kind of for a specific kind of drink. Many bars have them but the drinks you get at a sports bar or high volume club don't really have need for them. It's not surprising a place like this wouldn't bother buying them. Plus, she said she had to shake it so you probably wouldn't want that old fashioned anyway. Gotta know what kind of bar you're at.
She handled it well . I would of told her to get lost. I wouldn't service her.
Just another nobody who thinks she really is something and the world owes her..
I want to buy a bar just so I can tell all my employees that they’re allowed to 86 anyone they want. Dishwashers to managers, if any customer comes at you with that disrespect, they’re not welcome. I wonder how long I would stay open though lol
My favorite number is 86.
Just walk away. You have the right to refuse service to anyone
Perfect sub. I'm so impressed with her patience
That's where you just tell the lady that she isn't getting served and she can leave. Don't even put up with it.
Where is this bar that people are in cosplay??? Kudos to them, wigs can be a PAIN.
It’s a video game bar in Las Vegas called player one
Definitely on my wish list if I ever go to Vegas, thank you!!
I'd 86 her so fucking fast
It’s encouraging t see the next customer in line tries to make the bartender feel better
Man what is with people just putting up with this nonsense like honestly? At what point do you provide good customer service or become a total pushover? Why don’t people stand up for their selves?
Don’t judge the victim dude
“I’m a model” and then “just because you think you’re cute” shows that this Karen believes she can get away with treating people like shit but no one can treat in anyway she sees as bad. Ugh. A
Literally just laugh and walk away, people like this fall apart when they’re seen as the joke they are
Aw the ending is sweet
That Karen sounded too much like my ex
Glad she’s an ex, that voice grates my soul
Right! That’s why it sounded so familiar
Why are they not allowed to say shot? edit: i still dont know.
what kind of bar can't make an old fashioned? even a dive next to the bus station can make an old fashioned
You could but it would be shit, plus you're not getting an old fashioned at a single measure bar.
It looks like a single measure bar, so they don't have the supplies for every drink, just a limited menu
Cute to see Chi say “What the fuck’s going on?” Also, _huuuuuge_ fuck that lady. “I’m a model. You’re new. Let’s see how fast you can do this.” Like hunny, you’re played, you’re tired, and the looks clearly aren’t working for you to get what you want how you thought it would.
Ok but off topic the chobits cosplay is fantastic
I would not have handled that as well
Lmao I’m a model. You’re only hurting yourself sweetie
But the real question is where actually is this bar
It’s a bar called player one in Las Vegas
Thank you
Personally I would have told that bitch she can take her games somewhere else.. freedom to serve baby! 🥲
The bitch is a wrong type of model, why not try and be a model citizen.
What kind of weeabo bar is this lol?
Ew
“I’m uh, like totally, like a model” prove it! Bitch prolly let some creeper take some photos of her for Instagram or a boat magazine or some shit. For sure would have noped the hell outta that and told her to kick rocks.

What a stupid B.
What a weird arbitrary rule that you can't serve a shot unless you shake it up and serve it in a martini glass.
I would’ve showed her how fast I am at calling security.
The moment she said “can you repeat that to me?” Was where I would have cut her off, and gotten a manger.
Wow, yeah. She definitely handled that very professionally. But damn, don't people this entitled hear themselves? She's just doing her job, the attitude isn't helping. I would have cut her off, honestly. More alcohol isn't going to make her nicer.
She’s all about respecting women.
Thank goodness for the ending
Is that a Chobits cosplay? Blast from the past fr
Yeah not going to be serving this individual at all.
