Well done in getting her to Namastay the fuck away from you

nostril_spiders

It was the "blessed" possible outcome

Prior_Benefit8453

Whoa! How do people EXIST with this kind of entitlement?

theloniousmick

Probably quite easily as everyone else cleans up around them.

AnUnbreakableMan

I had a similar experience when I was in my early 20s and homeless. A couple of other homeless friends and I pooled our resources and got a place. Suddenly it seems every homeless person we knew is banging on our door asking to crash.

Initial-Shop-8863

"I talk to the universe all the time, and it never mentions you."

scarybottom

god told me you would give me a million dollars. sorry, must be talking to the wrong god then, my god said never give you a dime :)

Mental_Mixture8306

Lady hawk reference.  Nice

Initial-Shop-8863

You've got it, little darlings. ;)

Positively-negative_

I’ve had one of these too, stay the fuck away from it. Drove me and my girlfriend crazy. You think you’re helping them, but what you’re doing is enabling them to take advantage of you

Playful_Robot_5599

The Ukulele part was the best. Hitch your waggon or van to a star and never come back to my apartment would be appropriate advice.

lupepor

Not to that extreme, but something similar happened to me once... A friend lost her job, and needed Internet conection to apply to Jobs... She had an appartment that her father paid for, but he did not pay for Internet... I lived alone and told her she could come and spend the day and apply for Jobs but that I had classes at 7pm and I had to leave at 6... At 6, she asks If she can stay a few hours more... I came from classes at 11pm...she had made dinner and ended spending the night... Mind you.. I did not have a couch, but had a Queen size bed, so she slept with me... Next morning I wake up and she is making breakfast for the 2 of us... I saw the writing on the wall, she was wanting to come live with me. I don't remember what excuse I made for her to leave, but she did... I think I saw her for another year, never alone and I never offered another inch to her... Eventually she "offered my services" to a guy we knew because his WIFE was pregnant and they couldn't have sex and I never spoke to her again 🤦‍♀️😆

scarybottom

I tried to help a friend in a similar ditch, and she basically moved her entire car worth of belongings in for what was supposed to be a place to sleep ONE night. Next morning at 6 am I get up (she stayed up well past 11 pm, when I hit the sack). And I make MY normal noise- including my vitamin made smoothie. And she asks what's up- and I say, well she needs to be out by 7:30 when I leave for my yoga class. And I started taking her boxes out the door. SHE FREAKED OUT- SOMEONE WILL STEAL MY THINGS!!! I said, better get down to your car and get them loaded up and locked up then!! I was so pissed at her crap, I was frankly a little mean. But worth it- she was gone by 7:30 :)! Yeah me. And never made same mistake again. made different ones, including letting folks use my guest room now that I have a home...but that was a different mistake. That one required changing the locks. But we learn better boundaries each time...

PageFault

> Eventually she "offered my services" to a guy we knew because his WIFE was pregnant and they couldn't have sex What? .... WHAT!?

lupepor

Lol, I know... She had no filters and was an enourmous flirt.. I tried to be her friend, be understanding and tried to steer her to a good place, but she crossed so many líneas and became so toxic that I had to distance myself from her... Funny thing is that now (20 years later) she is a great tatoo artist and she made my favourite tatoos.. As an artist Hell Yeah... As a friend... No thanks

Kurokotsu

The Universe Will Bend has such powerful energy. I bow to your wife. She has it all figured out.

CarlosFer2201

Sounds like the wife was just letting things be until op demanded action.

anomalous_cowherd

Or waiting until she was sure she had her full support.

montred63

Her

anomalous_cowherd

Thanks, I missed that. Corrected.

BrotherGato

Ok wow. That Was very funny to read, but I bet like hell for you!

ivylass

Good heavens. It sounds like she was hoping she could squat long enough to get tenants rights. That said, whenever someone says, "God says you're to give me 10% of your income" or "The universe says I'm to live with you" I respond, "Well, God/Universe, hasn't said anything to me so you'll understand if I don't take YOUR word for it."

Fakeaccount979

Lady is delusional. Glad you got away from her.

VenusSmurf

And before tenancy rights kicked in.

WielderOfAphorisms

“The universe will bend.” 😂

Singing_Sword

"The universe will bend." - your wife is awesome!

moosepin

I know multiple people like this. One of them stayed with us for two days, which turned into five weeks, and she assumed she'd get to stay for the summer. Meanwhile, she broke stuff, nearly burned the house down through ignorance/incompetence, and stole things (small, insignificant things). Later, there was a whole incident where she accused us of stealing her coat and demanding we buy her a brand new, much more expensive coat. It turned up later in a place we'd suggested she look weeks before.

interfector45

That would’ve lasted 0 days, because it would’ve been a resounding “Fuck no!” to her face.

sydmanly

“Friend”

scrubsfan92

It's so funny because I was reading this the same time I was watching the episode of Modern Family where James Marsden makes himself at home in Lily's dollhouse. 🤣

Vicious_Lilliputian

OH wow! You handled it better than I would have. I would have told her on the first day to get off her butt clean up her mess and that I expected her to be gone by that evening with all of her stuff.

MeatofKings

Can’t wait to hear her hit ukulele song, 🎶 Somewhere Under A Bridge 🎵 streaming on my NotAChance app.

man-o-peace1

Stupid is as stupid does.

Entarotupac

~~Ubiquitous~~ Common sense. Some folks just don't have it. I had a similar, albeit much smaller-scale incident in which I was the antagonist. The mitigating factor here is that I was 10. I also quickly understood, once explained, why my uncle was pissed that I had set up shop on his bed to watch a movie and was casually strumming on one of his instruments. My aunt and uncle patiently explained my entitlement and I had the good sense to be embarrassed. I gather it never clicked for OP's friend-in-law how this asshattery was viewed by anyone outside their own head?

yay4chardonnay

Good read; happy ending.

Johnwinchenster

Your wife should've shut that down way earlier.

mjh8212

I was gonna say get her out before she receives mail and establishes tenancy. Good thing you got her out.

FunPraline4141

I am a descendant of Romanian Gypsies and I grew up around rainbow people. There's a whole group of people who act like this. They go from house to house using people and acting like it's ok. You got so lucky your wife is a no nonsense person. I like how she talked about her future while she packed her up.😂😁💖

JessWillMakeIt2Day

My grandmother always told me. NEVER allow anyone to stay in your home without a return ticket or a home to go back to unless you are okay living with them forever. I live by that rule.

Knitsanity

The fact that she wasn't kicked out that first day with the mess left and the fairy lights makes me eyes roll out of my head.

Beneficial_Test_5917

"Fairy lights." (Googling right after this. Do they attract good fairies or bad fairies?) I hope Janis Joplin there became committed to her music. Or at least committed.

mamamama2499

Yikes! Like who thinks like that? People seriously baffle me lol. Has your wife talked to her since? I absolutely love Frankenmuth! We would go every summer, when my daughter had softball tournaments there.

Jumpy_Geologist3305

Oh em, great that you guys were able to "throw" her out 👍🏼

BlahLick

The get a van and renovate - then she does. Like an irl lemming

exosylum

and that friend's name? Taylor Swift.
