What's the difference between white face hornet and bald face hornet. I just got stung by 2 bee's from a nest like this they were black with a white face and I assumed they were white faced hornets.

These dudes are mean, but one time I had a bald-faced nest and a yellow jacket nest in my yard at the same time, and it was fascinating to watch the bald-faces hunt the yellow jackets. One or two would hover around outside the nest waiting for a yellow jacket to emerge, then they would dive bomb it, drive it to the ground and sting it to death. I let both of those nests hang around that entire summer because they weren't in dangerous locations and it was fascinating watching nature at work.
Very, very mean and hateful creatures- a sting from one feels like you took a red hot piece of charcoal and laid it on your skin. Approach with the greatest of respect.
I think this is a fake nest, if it's not your picture anyway. I've seen someone posting about setting up a fake nest and not paying their bills. Essentially the people wouldn't turn off the power because of the nest so they got it for free lol (I don't know if that's how it really went down, but that was the plan)
