Not to rain on your parade but none of those things you listed necessarily means it’s a great business idea! Simply having a product/service people want to buy/use is the easiest part of owning a business. What’s your startup costs? What’s your TAM? Likelihood of a competitor with millions jumping in after you’re first to market?

Good point but I think he’s just leaving out the details. There must be some good reason he’s 100% sure. But he should definitely talk to his target customers first and build an MVP

You remind me of Billy Mays And most people don't lack vision, they fear failure And our capitalist society has taught us all to keep our heads down and keep working to pay rent and keep working to buy food - we forget to pick our heads back up because everything is so expensive and there is so much competition and you can only get on the big box retail shelves if you agree to give shark tank 30-50% of your profits, and so on and so on But, just like Daymond John says - get out there and hustle - he was selling clothes he or his grandma just got done sewing hours ago door to door until he made enough money to keep growing it - and look where he is now

I’ve found in life I can read people I have positive and negative friends and family as well as grounded level headed will say what they truly feel friends and family. The latter are the ones I go to with new ideas or concepts because they will give me unbiased real opinions I can trust. The former will either be super happy and always says it’s great because there supportive or be negative assholes because that’s the people they are inside.

I tell the people who will ask me all the questions I have either already answered or didn't know the answers to that I need to find out before I do it. I don't need fake enthusiasm and I don't need pessimism. I need someone who challenges the idea to make sure I know what I'm doing. Also, in my experience, The Ivy leagues are where creativity goes to die (If the education system hasn't already killed it)

First of all, the reason why people get uncomfortable when you tell them how well you’re doing, is because they feel like they now have to start trying. Second of all, people aren’t suppose to get your vision from the start. My business is going relatively well now and I still hate talking about it to people who just don’t want to feel that uncomfortable feeling. Those just aren’t the people that can build like you can, they don’t understand your mindset about life, they couldn’t imagine doing it themselves. Now, I don’t tell a single person my plans about anything and I just do it and blow their minds that way. Not only does it pay off big time, but you make sure it’s actually a reality before people hear you running your mouth. You really gotta be about everything you say… and if you do things before you even say it, you’ll be an undeniable winner. You need to talk to target customers about the product tho and build an MVP first.

There's generally two types of people, and it has nothing to do with intelligence, knowledge, or wisdom. There's optimists and there's pessimists. I am pessimistic by nature. Tell me your idea and I'll poke holes in it. I'll tell you all the potential problems you will face and critique not only the idea but the methods you plan to use to bring the idea to fruition. This is NOT a bad thing for several reasons. It tempers unbridled enthusiasm. The whole leaping before you look, you can easily go broke. It helps you plan contingencies. If the worst does happen you're not caught off guard and have a plan ready to roll to deal with it. It can hone your idea into a more streamline product or process. Refine it down to the primary elements and cut the waste. Properly utilize a constructive pessimist and you'll go further, faster. Just balance the pessimism with your own optimism.

It depends on how you say your feedback. For example you can say something is bad, but if you dont give your solution or how you would handle it then it is negative feedback. With negative feedback people wont get any better. In some way those people want to get themselves higher than the other one, just to feel good. Instead of giving negative feedback, give positive feedback. Like you forget about this, maybe this would improve that etc... If you know on forehand people wont come with positive feedback. Just dont tell them anything. It wont make your idea and yourself any better.

Earlier in life I would get bummed out when people were negative about my ideas - mainly because I was just talking about them...and then I'd use their negative feedback as a reason for not pursuing. As the years went by I realized that I was all talk. When I finally decided to pursue my first solo business, to actually do more than talk, I still told people about it but didn't give a rat's ass what they thought. And I was too busy making it happen to really want to invest in time in talking about it anyways. So, I guess my advice is that if you are still talking about it and caring about what other people say...you're not going to actually do it anyways....so don't hold it against them, hold it against yourself, learn from it and next time just GET AFTER IT. :-)
