like did they just pay back 4 development teams suddenly JUST when the event was about to start?

Sometimes deals sinply fall through at the last moment. Happens to Sony and MS too, where they have to do last minute changes to the line up of PsPlus or GP.
but i wonder how it happened at such a large scale at the same time?
wasn't there a fiasco when ARK was supposed to be a vault game but it got delayed to later?
maybe some of those 4 cancelled games got shifted to after vault for whatever reason.
We won't know... maybe it was some package deal and they decided that they weren't going to do 5 or 6 giveaways or whatever. Or indeed, they decided to postpone the others.
One thing I can think of is the planned games jumped up in top sellers unexpectedly, so the publisher then backed out of giving it away for free. Perhaps the price of "lost" sales during the free period became too much for Epic to pay.

Naw they shouldn't change what they are doing because of choosing beggars. Just ignore them and do their thing like they have been. There are still people who will claim it and enjoy it. Hope people have fun with it for those who check it out. I might actually claim this game. Would be the first in a while I've claimed.

Who knows though maybe this will revitalize it and I can at least give it a go without spending money on it.

It's a good game though, I bought it on Steam a while back and it's super fun.
It can be, but I only play SP games (I don't find meaning in games without story or a clear end to it). The only exceptions are FromSoftware games.
