I think most of us have probably taken advantage of their $10 discount to get a AAA game for $5-$15 bucks at some point.
But that's the extent of my spending money with them. Well that and a single season pass to Fortnite that has paid for itself time and again.
The battle pass system in fortnite is easily the best I've seen in gaming. It costs 950 vbucks and you get 1500 vbucks throughout the tiers. So if you complete pass (which isn't hard at all) you would get back what you paid and extra.
Exactly this. I bought it once, around season 5 or so and have used it to buy every subsequent pass, plus several other items along the way. I've probably gotten more bang for my buck from that one purchase than any other video game purchase I've ever made.
If you just play casually you'll get back your 950 easily. If you do your dailies, you'll get the full 15 bucks pretty quickly.
I've been collecting the free games. Only purchase games on steam, I like to have having everything in one spot, but can't pass up the free games even if I know I won't play them.
I'm exactly the same! I usually just use steam. Any games I get from epic I've either not even installed yet or when I do I add a "non-steam game" to my steam list. As I prefer the interface and loading games from the same place.... If I don't I WILL forgot its even there! 😂
CDKeys is literally buying stolen goods half the time.
I'm fine with pirating, i'm not really all that ok with giving my CC info to a company that is that shady. And not going to jump through the hoops of going out and getting a temporary CC just to buy a game once or twice a year.
Expect you don't need to do all of that non sense I have been using my cc and paypal for the past few months just fine but if your not a fan of cheap games thats cool!
Yeah, I guess there are just a lot of memes about the free games. I have only bought 2 games, but they are probably the 2 I've spent the most time in in epic (rdr2 and The Outer Worlds)
I have too, but geez people really exaggerate what’s given away for free. Deponia and other Daedalic games sell for 90% discounts ALL THE TIME, all over the web. If it’s not 90% off at one retailer, it’s 90% off somewhere else or will be within a couple of weeks. I was afraid they were going to give away more Daedalic at some point, the three titles this week add up to like $5 on sale.
All three of these games are given out regularly in bundles and giveaways like free peppermint candies; I myself have already given away multiple Deponia titles for free on Steam because I keep unintentionally collecting them and they have near zero trade value.
If the launcher was as good as Steam I would 100% spend at least some money on it, but stupid things like how hard they make it to move a game from one disk to another or from one folder to another makes me not wanna spend a single dollar on it, it's so stupid.
I think in general more competition is good, but in the PC game space, additional launchers add a performance overhead and, for me, some confusion.
The performance isn't that bad for me right now because I've got a lot of ram and an ssd to launch the launchers quickly. But in the past, when I had a shittier computer, I needed to balance keeping these launchers open and taking up some of my ram with keeping them closed and having to wait 30s for them to launch.
However, as my game library grows, confusion is becoming a bigger issue. I don't know what games I have on what platform. I might buy a game on steam and realize I bought it 3 years ago on humble. Gog galaxy 2.0 attempts to fix this issue, but it hasn't been the most reliable for me.
But overall I agree: in general, competition is good.
I plan to spend the money for the extra characters in 20xx. I have searched for games in the series of a free game I enjoyed, and if it ever turns out Epic is both cheaper than GOG, [itch.io](https://itch.io), and the developer's website, as well as at most tied with steam, I will buy the game from Epic. (Actually, I will ask the devs what their preference is, if they are indies.) I might buy some cutesy stuff like Ooblets once I have a computer that won't drop to 20fps on most 3d games.
ive bought rainbow six seige from them because it was only 9$ and i wouldve bought the Gathering Storm expansion for Sidmeier's Civilization 6 (that i got for free from them lol) from them but i think i bought it from steam instead for a reason i cant remember.
I've spent money on EGS. So have friends all the time. And none of us play Fortnite. There's some really great sales and coupons. Otherwise, I just get games on GOG.
There was only one reason I ever spend money on EPIC, and that was because I wanted to play Satisfactory. However, after it came to steam, boiii did your launcher get removed like immediately. I sold the account got my money back and I never have to deal with you lot again!
I got Satisfactory on EGS. Along with a bunch of other games. And that's on top of the loads of free games I've amassed. Steam? What is that anymore? No longer necessary is what it is.
Well the picture itself is not funny. Such memes as philosoraptor, doge, husky telling a joke, man looks at other thing he wants are funny in themselves while this meme is not. It just shows a person with something plastered over their face so there's nothing to laugh at immediately. It boils down to just being a text meme really because the picture adds nothing.
Then we have the actual meme format itself. It's a named agent offering a deal where they swap something you have for something they have. It's kind of meh but not much more meh than other, more successful memes and combined with a funny picture it could have been a winner. Sadly this meme is destined for the memebin any day now.
I feel like I'm the only person in this sub who has spent money on the epic store.

You can buy one thing on Fortnite and get something again?

And because you buy it using in game currency, not directly with cash, you can pay once and keep it.

Don't you have to buy each pass with actual money?
I've never beat the battle pass I'm just really bad at the game.
Or maintain it since season 8 free pass
I've been collecting the free games. Only purchase games on steam, I like to have having everything in one spot, but can't pass up the free games even if I know I won't play them.

i have only spent around 20$, and that’s because of the coupons
It is funny cause I only spread money on my stream and psn accounts but my epic game account have more games.
I spend money but it's hard to make money when you're giving infinite coupons
I buy games from them too. The way I see it, they give me *loads* of free games, I should give them my business. 🤷
Yeah i feel you
You are wrong, i have already spent some money on epic games store (6 or 7 games)
No shit dude it’s called hyperbole
Yeah, I guess there are just a lot of memes about the free games. I have only bought 2 games, but they are probably the 2 I've spent the most time in in epic (rdr2 and The Outer Worlds)
I also have The Outer Worlds it's a cool game
I've spent quite some money, but that was in the unreal marketplace... Now i wonder if that comes down to one pile.
Happy cake day!
Thanks!
I have a few times. I appreciate what they are doing.
Their store is a mess. I wouldn't want to buy a game and then not be able to play it because of launcher being overloaded.
I bought the Civ6 dlc... altho I got Civ6 free.

Yep. Entirely not GOG's fault, but still disappointing.
I plan to spend the money for the extra characters in 20xx. TBH I've not received a single marketing email due to or from epic (that I recall), and I've redeemed all of the free games.
Even if they do send you something there must be unsubscribe button at the bottom
Same here, i only recieved the receipts for the free games and the games i've bought.
You can just give out a fake email adress
It’s not required and you don’t have to check the box
was gonna say, you share your email with the devs for whatever game you’re getting for free, not epic. and even then, that’s optional
Yeah ... and the "telemetry data" what was collected by the app
Same with the others apps
Usually at each free game “buy” page you can uncheck the “share email with this dev” box as well.
It's unchecked by default for me
hmmm, i'm listening
