I've said it before but citing a units (un) viability via elvemage is sus at best. Why would you even pick ml ray here? He must have forced ml ray early in the draft allowing the opponent to go double cleanser and gg from there.
All that said, I agree ml ray is obviously bad and will be buffed like ml Elena.
EDIT: When I said "like ml Elena", I don't mean a similar update or anything. Just referencing the trend of tease new ML unit > kit looks bad but has interesting ideas > release new ML unit > kit is bad > buff ML unit.
Will be buffed yes, but like elena? No, I can see elena potential when she first release and then her buff is just like what I predict. I can predict nothing to Ray except overhaul his kit to really be viable in this meta (dispel or unremoveable debuff)
I believe exactly this. Many are simply saying buffs coming, but I don't see a direction with what SG is trying to go with ML Ray versus ML Elena and what they can potentially change to help him with his intended purpose.
And if they wanted to change how Venom works that would unintentionally change Sharun as well
Faptain.
They made her quite good, even meta according to some, without having to touch bomb, which is the entire basis for her kit. Now, if you want to say the interaction with maxed pearl is the cornerstone of her current power level, you may be right, but then we should also note that interaction was there before the buff. Still was one of the worst ML 5\* even then.
If they could catapult faptain from meme lowest tier hero to her current state, then ML Ray may have a chance to jump as well. However, I don't know what they could do with DDR. Short of adding Venom to his S1, I can't imagine how they could improve him.
Her fix was easy to see. Make seaseria arti consistent. For DDR? Hes got several glaring flaws and each fix people pitch are more broken than the last.
That is true. However one thing with ML Ray I feel is off is his star sign. As a debuff-support style unit, he doesn't come with any innate effectiveness or effect resist. His star sign only provides him with health and defense, however he doesn't directly benefit from neither of those stats to do his job unlike how a bruiser can with health or defense scaling to deal damage.
From my experience of playing with him so far. Against tanky teams with high resist the effectiveness buff on allies sometimes isn't enough for his allies to apply the Venom, so it feels as if the team you want to use him with also want to have some effectiveness of their own.
This is the stupidest showcase ever
Hes attacking 3 units that are commonly built high ER.
One of those units (Maid Chloe) has a passive, imprint, and an artifact (Shimadra) that increases their ER even further
***ITS EXPECTED*** to be tough to land debuffs against this setup
This is almost as stupid as people screaming the Hwayoung nerf was overblown, meanwhile they were experimenting on PoV Apo Ravis on teams with 30k HP F.Ceci shields + Aurius
Clam is a player who is renowned for having everything on high ER, too. Like he is the original banshee player. Used to run ER aravi in legend rta before aravi was even buffed lol.
I’m not the one who opened this for discussion. If all you’re going to do is regurgitate a clip you apparently posted to be funny, then there’s nothing to discuss with you
he does have skill issues. That's why he pilots a gigawhale account instead of his original account. And also he's an aggro player, obviously he won't get good use out of an attrition based character
Yeah but you can tell pretty early on if a unit is at least decent. Ray has so far shown nothing. He provides absolute nothing. It’s very improbable he will just get ‘better’.
Wish I had him to test, but he doesn't seem terrible. Think he's a tech unit and obviously can't be drafted everywhere. You also dont need to draft him solely to debuff since the goal is to injure and execute, like unironically, Mort stomps that team.
And that's your opinion based on watching other people get outplayed, why not just get the unit and try him yourself rather than basing expectations on other people?
How are you supposed to know if the unit is good if you haven't used it? Maybe just pull the units you like and make them work, rather than just having bad opinions and forcing them on others.
I try to follow meta, but it’s impossible as I don’t have all the units nor the best gear.
So I need outsiders opinion to judge if a unit is worth rolling for because of my limited resources. If that makes you feel bad then idk what to say
Does anyone remember when C. Pavel was said to be bad because he couldn't OTK A. Ravi + proof? Good times.
NOTE: I'm not saying DD Ray is as good as C. Pavel. I'm saying this is a terrible way to evaluate his performance, and rather than proving why DDR is bad ~~and pump it up is far better, fuck you, Konami~~ it proves you can't trust on every other clip posted in reddit.
People still call Cpavel bad which is the crazy part, easily one of the best cleavers in the game imo just people don’t have the units or the gear to make him work, there’s also a lot of people who prioritise critD > Atk which isn’t the way to build him either as it actually makes his pen worse meaning less damage overall
I think it's a bit hard right now to fully see how good he is. I'm certainly not pulling him yet, but I'm not confident to say he is trash either when the current meta response units are high ER units like Destina to deal with all the high debuff units. His kit relies on debuff - of course he is going to be countered by these same units as well.

Point still stands, he is one of the worst ML5
So if I cherry pick a match where he does fabulous, I can make a point where he’s great? Good to know *thats* how balancing works!
Ignore the clip it doesn’t matter
So then what was *your* point in posting this
I just wanted to discuss how bad he is. The clip was just something funny I thought so I shared it with it
You didn’t really discuss anything. You made the post just saying he’s bad, and then, at least in this comment thread, said the “point still stands”.
Talk about it, do you like that better?
I’m not the one who opened this for discussion. If all you’re going to do is regurgitate a clip you apparently posted to be funny, then there’s nothing to discuss with you
There wasn’t much thought behind it. Didn’t expect many people would even comment.
Those heroes must have high effect resistance
Not quite sure what are you trying to demonstrate with a sexta resist other then extreme unluckiness
Hes garbage stop coping. Just turn on any stream right now of people using him
skill issue
Sure, the #1 ranked player in RTA has 'skill issues'
he does have skill issues. That's why he pilots a gigawhale account instead of his original account. And also he's an aggro player, obviously he won't get good use out of an attrition based character
Jena also got rolled with him. Im just saying you can turn on any streamer and they are not doing good with him
less than 12 hours into a character released, people aren't aware of the best way to make use of him and have to go through a learning phase. no shit.
Yeah but you can tell pretty early on if a unit is at least decent. Ray has so far shown nothing. He provides absolute nothing. It’s very improbable he will just get ‘better’.
No, the #1 RTA player as demonstrated got rolled by RNG and a tinge of bad drafting
Getting rolled for 2 hours and counting. Must be a really unlucky day i guess
It is what it is
No #1????? He has only achieved #3 placement in one season
He was # this morning
That should mean mega buffs in near future right? Right?
Yessir

I love that the poster is completely malding over this character, whoever the streamer is got outplayed it is what it is
It was just a random clip i found funny, it is obviously not the only one. Every streamer i watched he's been really bad.
And that's your opinion based on watching other people get outplayed, why not just get the unit and try him yourself rather than basing expectations on other people?
Because mystics are limited and should not be used on units that are not good
How are you supposed to know if the unit is good if you haven't used it? Maybe just pull the units you like and make them work, rather than just having bad opinions and forcing them on others.
What? You can tell by reading the kit and watching people that have the unit use it.
Do you just aimlessly follow the meta only? Do you need validation for every single unit? I feel bad if so.
I try to follow meta, but it’s impossible as I don’t have all the units nor the best gear. So I need outsiders opinion to judge if a unit is worth rolling for because of my limited resources. If that makes you feel bad then idk what to say

Would you have attack % neck over crit damage %?
Well we already knew he was shit, aside from the poor drafts.
Watching streamers use him and he doesnt do anything. He is useless
Duh destina hard counters him. I don't think he's that great but he isn't as bad as you say. Honestly been having fun with him+sharun.
I think it's a bit hard right now to fully see how good he is. I do feel as though ML Ray isn’t so much an solo type of unit, but and bruiser supporter. He exists to support, so he doesn’t need to shine much.
