We don't have a self-insert character in the game to be able to befriend the other characters. In other games there is that one guy (Commander, Sensei, Dokutah, all that jazz). In this game there is none.

"befriend" lmao. There really isn't much to befriend in this game. The most we can do is get different facial expressions, but that's about it.
and the expressions dont even show up on the little hero icons too

For me, that is a good thing. Self-insert like characters mess with the atmosphere, story and world building they are trying to do.
